Sienna Miller leaves Russell Crowe’s Notingham film

Sienna Miller has left the film Nottingham. She was going to play Maid Marion to Russell Crowe’s Robin Hood in the Ridley Scott-directed film, due to start production in February, now set to start in April. So… was she fired, did she quit, or did she get pushed out by Russell Crowe’s massive ego (and gut)?

The gossip is pretty juicy and consists of unnamed sources talking to PageSix and British tabloids – and it’s probably Miller, Crowe and Ridley Scott all sending their people out to do damage control. Something happened, and it‘s probably really great gossip. Here’s what I know for sure – no matter what, Sienna Miller is definitely out. Whether she jumped or she was pushed, I can’t tell.

~Sienna Miller was dropped from the cast of new movie Nottingham after Russell Crow demanded script rewrites that effectively forced her out of the flick, it has been claimed.

According to the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six, the British actress – who was to play Maid Marian – left the movie yesterday after being “put on hold” while shooting was pushed back from February to April.

A source says, “It is a mess. Russell never lost the weight he put on for Body of Evidence – and so the love scenes between him and Sienna would have been laughable. He’s so old and fat and she’s so young and gorgeous. It’s just . . . gross.”

“Producers are now looking for an older, plumper actress to play the role so [Crowe] doesn’t look like a paunchy grandpa. Someone in her late 30s or early 40s.

“Originally the movie was about a love triangle between Maid Marian, Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham.

“It is now all about Russell’s Robin Hood. Literally, 40 pages of script were redone and now are just devoted to him and his massive ego. It’s amazing.”

It is also being claimed that Crowe is trying to get director Ridley Scott fired – and that calls were made to several prominent directors over the holidays to find a replacement.

“All of this was done behind Ridley’s back,” the source said. “He has no idea.”

A studio rep acknowledged that Alfie actress Miller was “released” but flatly denied “these rumors”, insisting “Nottingham is moving ahead with Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott.”

Other sources are claiming unequivocally that Sienna Miller quit, that it was merely a timing issue with the new start date, and a representative for Miller confirmed she has quit the picture, insisting the actress is “fine and about to sign on to two other movies” according to Contact Music.

When reading the PageSix quotes, I tend to think they’re coming from Sienna’s people. Who else would say “…the love scenes between him and Sienna would have been laughable. He’s so old and fat and she’s so young and gorgeous,” besides someone being paid to represent Sienna Miller? Granted, Russell Crowe might currently be overweight, but he’s still an Oscar-winning actor with a really good resume, which is *so much* more than Sienna has. But I totally believe that Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe are fighting with each other – they’ve supposedly been pissy with each other for years now.

Sounds like an episode of Entourage….. Also sounds like in real life, Russell Crowe is becoming Val Kilmer.

It’s such a shame that Sienna Miller has made such a mess of her private (but very public) life because she’s actually a freakin’ great actress. Her portrayal of Edie Sedgwick in ‘Factory’ was amazing and I’ve always enjoyed watching her.

I won’t watch this movie anyway. Robin Hood has been done so many times, it’s likely to be a snoozefest.

  2. Zoe says:

    what happened with Val Kilmer?

  3. elainebenes says:

“…an older plumper actress in her late thirties or forties…”?? Ouch.
    I’m 41, not old or plump.LOL.

It will be interesting to see who they pick for that role now that the requirements are out. Silly Hollywierd.

I’m sorry, I’ve never found Russell Crowe sexy. Just an ass. Now an extra large ass.

  4. doodahs says:

At one time, Val Kilmer was touted as one of the best actors (which he actually was).. hot.. yada yada.. but over the years, his ego started to grow with his gut.

  5. Ally says:

I know, Val Kilmer, what the hell happened?

Remember back when he was starring in The Doors at the movies and living on a ranch with Joanne Whalley in real life?

Classy becomes crazy in Hollywood, I guess.

  6. Because I Say So says:

Can’t speak to Sienna’s acting ability, as I’ve never seen any of her movies, but Russel Crowe is becoming more and more obnoxious. An Oscar does not make you entitled. I heard on another website (can’t remember the name) that he is effectively making himself persona non grata. I can’t wait for that

  7. shane says:

Really hard movie to pull off. Costner barely made it work and it was still exceptionally cheesy. In today’s movie world you have to bring a gritty version of the story. I’d be concerned too. As for Crowe’s physical shape, he’s professional enough to shape up before filming begins. I’m not really concerned about that. Heck of an actor.

  8. tess says:

the disney ROBIN HOOD cartoon was great…why can’t they just leave it at that??

and personally i don’t think adonis like shape is essential to an erotic or impressive love scene…anyone remember harvey keitel and holly hunter steaming up the screen in THE PIANO?

  9. KDRockstar says:

Watch BBC’s “Robin Hood” and top that. Yeah, I’ve said it before, but seriously.

  10. I choose me says:

“He’s so old and fat and she’s so young and gorgeous. It’s just . . . gross.”

So much wrong with that sentence. Not that I don’t think Sienna’s pretty. She was luminous as Edie Sedgwick but Russell old and fat?

Ok. Ok. I’m totally and completely biased. Russell could weigh 300 pounds and shave his head bald and I would still hit that all day every day and six ways on Sunday. Does that mean I need help?

  11. KateNonymous says:

I bet he threw a phone at her.

Crowe was obnoxious before he won the Oscar. I remember how pissed off he looked when he didn’t win for The Insider, and he’s spent years telling us that he’s a great actor and Lawrence Olivier wasn’t.

Now, normally he can actually deliver on film. He really is a great actor. But he’s one of those actors I hate hearing about, because in everyday life he just sounds like a world-class jerk.

  12. Mark says:

Russell Crowe is not a great actor. He thinks he is a great actor and therefore is not. Benicio del Toro is a contemporary who is leaps and bounds greater than that oaf.

  13. Bodhi says:

I can not express my love for the cartoon Robin Hood. It came out when I was a mite & I watched it almost every day for years. Twice a day if it was crappy outside.

Anyhoodle, I can’t stand Sienna Miller. I think she is terrible at best. But Crowe is a flaming asshole at best, so who knows what the real deal is.

And I agree 100% that the Page Six quotes come directly from PR. 🙄

  14. Jenna says:

Sienna Miller is working now? Since when did she retire from her old job of being a Harlot?

  15. Clarise says:

Sounds like they need to recast who plays Robin Hood. Never liked Russell Crowe. He’s too old and paunchy for that role.

  16. geronimo says:

I’m with KDRockstar. If it has no chance of topping the BBC’s Robin Hood – and I seriously doubt it has, judging by all the adverse publicity it’s had – then forget it.

  17. Zoe says:

    @Tess
RE: The Piano, I agree, they were hot in that movie and it’s,true, Harvey Keitel ain’t no pixie, but he was damn cut in that movie… even though he looks like a shark. LOL

  18. serena says:

Sienna has no job prospects other than the next “Scary Movie” sequel as an extra. She can’t act and can’t get by on her body and face any more. She just needs to fade away with her cheater boyfriend and they can both fall off the earth. we will all be better offf for it.

  19. Bobby the K says:

    ~

I could never understand the appeal of russell crowe.

Maybe he is a good actor. But there are a lot of good actors.

And some of those have class.

    ~

  20. yourself says:

That affair with Meg Ryan had completely turned me off Russell Crowe but that dislike pales when it comes to what I feel for Sienna slut Miller. I would never watch a movie where she is. She is up there with Jolie and now Pitty Pitt. Atleast I can sit through a Russell Crowe movie on a boring dayw ith a new boyfriend kissing and cuddling and totally not watching the movie. Now I cannot even have a Sienna Miller movie on in my living room. Ditto with AJ and whats his face.

  21. Lady T says:

The quality of Nottingham just went up about 600%

  22. ambling says:

I second Lady t’s comment! And the Telegraph online has just reported that she was fired for her “partying ways.”

  23. Trashaddict says:

Sound of hands clapping, celebratory horns blowing, champagne opening. Yes! Maybe now Russ will actually pursue his diet in earnest and Dani can relax.

  24. pammy says:

This was a golden opportunity for Miller. Does anyone think a production company wants someone like Miller, a second-rate actress with all that baggage(loaded with tabloid stories and nude pictures). No way! They waited for her contract to expire and then dumped her! Now Miller & her PR people blame Russell Crowe. What nerve!
Now Sir Ridley can get himself a real actress. How about Rachel McAdams. Miss McAdams got the role Miller coveted in Sherlock Holmes.
Miller’s so called acting career is toast!

  25. Call Me Al says:

@ Tess and Zoe: The Piano definitely has the most erotic love scene, so natural and animalistic. They should find someone like Holly Hunter to play Maid Marian: soft and small but womanly.

  26. Llazyme says:

    High fivin’ “Choose me”..
If Russell Crowe is old and fat, give me a heaping portion of that. I’ve never seen a movie he wasn’t great in.
Just saw Body of Evidence and it was fantastic.

  27. Llazyme says:

    DOh meant State of Play

  28. Vertical says:

@MARK you so right. Russel is a bad actor and he like to play roles which oppose his real ego. Like being a hero saving the world but in real throwing phones at hotel staff.

    disgusting
