Brad Pitt was almost a Scientologist, he ‘was targeted for his influence’

Whenever you’re sitting around, thinking about how Brad Pitt is dumb, just remember one thing: he was smart enough to resist the temptations of Xenu. Brad Pitt managed to resist Xenu’s forbidden pleasures for years and years. Although there might have been a time, very early in his career, when Brad flirted with Xenu. This is according to Jenna Miscavige Hill, who remembers how Juliette Lewis (who was dating Brad at the time, which would make this the early 1990s) tried to get Brad to “convert” to Scientology. This is fascinating:

Brad Pitt studied Scientology in the early ’90s before realizing the religion wasn’t for him, the niece of the Church’s controversial leader David Miscavige has revealed in a new tell-all interview. The Moneyball actor, 49, was dating Cape Fear star Juliette Lewis when he went through the religion’s Purification Rundown program to detox from drugs — a battle the star has previously confessed led him down a path to depression.

In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline, Jenna Miscavige Hill — who broke free from the Church after spending 21 years on the inside, including as a member of its super secret Sea Org — also detailed for the first time how Irish rock star Bono was heavily audited as her uncle, the organization’s ecclesiastical leader, made him a priority to recruit.

“There’s a celebrity strategy and they’re targeted for their influence, not their money,” revealed Jenna, who published an explosive memoir, Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape in a blaze of publicity in February.

“They know people are obsessed with celebrities so will get more interested in Scientology. I think that celebrities are more inclined to be egocentric and Scientology caters for that – you’re your own God. They’re probably being told that all the time.

“But they’re probably insecure, so the self-help of Scientology lends itself to that. And Scientology is meant to save people and the world, so the charitable thing appeals to a celebrity. If you’re egocentric, not always confident or insecure because of being in public eye and want to be charitable, Scientology pushes your buttons.

“That’s why someone like Bono would fit the bill perfectly as so many people know him. I know he was receiving Scientology auditing and was at one of the Celebrity Centre Galas. Why would he need auditing? Scientology markets itself to everyone, it can deal with everything from marital problems to public speaking. He’s a human, so he still needs those things. If he were to join, all the world would be Scientology!”

Jenna knows the Church from the inside after spending virtually her whole life in it before defecting eight years ago.

The 29-year-old ex-member recounted how Pitt, soon-to-be-married to Angelina Jolie, went through the Purification Rundown, also known as the Purif or the Hubbard Method, a controversial detoxification program developed by Scientology’s founder L. Ron Hubbard and used by the Church of Scientology as an introductory service. Scientologists consider it an effective way to deal with the long-term effects of drug abuse or toxic exposure.

“I remember my mum working on renovations for the Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles and she saw Brad Pitt there,” she recalled. “I was in love with him at the time. He was in there to do the Purification Rundown. It’s like the first step. I guess he was doing it because of his girlfriend Juliette Lewis. I know Juliette was into drugs and says Scientology saved her from them.”

This is not the first time a high-profile defector has linked Pitt to Scientology: In her book Scientology — Abuse at the Top, author Amy Scobee claimed, “In the end, Brad didn’t think it was for him and he and Juliette broke up.

“He was high on the church list president’s list of stars they felt could be ‘recovered.’”

When asked to comment of Jenna’s claims, a church spokesperson described her as having “varied and ever-shifting ‘memories’ from her childhood.

“At no time was Mrs. Hill ever privy to any ‘priorities’ or ‘strategies’,” the rep said. “As a result, she is in no position to comment and any claims to the contrary must be viewed with skepticism. Our priorities are and always have been the establishment and expansion of the Scientology religion. In furtherance of this is the establishment of 37 new Scientology churches in major metropolitan areas and cultural centers around the world in just the past few years.”

The spokesperson noted the church established Celebrity Centres in 1969 because of the “significant contribution to society that people in the arts represent” — rejecting Jenna’s claim they covet identities’ fame and fortune.

[From Radar]

Just think, Brad could be on a Brazilian beach with John Travolta right now, getting massages from attractive youths, singing “Xenu Can You Hear Me?” and declaring a lazy fatwa against Leah Remini. From the way Brad talks about religion these days, it feels like he considers himself an atheist (or a severe agnostic) and that he rejects every religion, not just Xenu-tastic ones.

You know what I wonder? After Brad and Juliette broke up, he did Interview with a Vampire with Tom Cruise. I wonder if Tom tried to recruit Brad all over again.

Why didn’t he join Scientology? Because he has a brain bigger than a chicken’s, unlike Cruise and Travolta. Not to mention common sense.

  2. Dawn says:

I don’t think of Brad Pitt as “dumb”. I think he is above average intellectually actually. And I do believe that he would have been a success in the field of his choice. And thank god he was able to turn away from the freaks that belong to CO$.

    • sirsnarksalot says:

Brad isn’t dumb at all. I remember him alluding to why he broke it off with Gwyneth way back when by saying that he was snowed by her BS for a while too. I think he’s a very intuitive person. I think its when he is being interviewed that he doesn’t express him self well. Plenty of smart people are poor communicators. Compare what he’s done with his celebrity and fortune to what Tom Cruise has done with his and you’ll see who the dummy is.

      • mslewis says:

I totally agree with you. Brad is very intelligent but, like Bill Gates, has trouble expressing himself. The man is four credits away from an architectural degree. Dummies don’t do that.

  3. Riotbelle says:

Brad Pitt isn’t probably very bright but the man is smart and not a psycho.Yes Tom Cruise ,I was hinting about you.

  4. Sisi says:

Brad often had a tendency to share interests with his significant others. I think it took him a long time to find his own voice, so he just adapted to whoever he hung out with at the time. Seems logical that Juliette introduced him to it. Also seems logical that when he finally sobered up he the saw the fuckery and ran for (Hollywood) hills.

    • Wrachul says:

      +1!!

    • Meredith says:

Just guessing here but I think Brad’s mid-western roots serve him well. He is still very close to his family and they seem a pretty down to earth bunch back in Missouri. And while some people may think his mom Jane is a bit right wing, better a mature independent minded woman than Tom Cruise’s mom following him blindly into CO$.

      • lucy2 says:

Good point – I think CO$ preys on people who don’t have that support system to shake them and say WTF are you thinking?

    • Pinky says:

      This.

Celebrities tend to convert with their extended family. His parents would have scoffed him out of Missourri honestly, that was a factor imo.

Also wasnt Juliette 15 at the time. Yes I am shading Brad for how young his gf was but also pointing out how a kid as young as troubled as she was would be easy pickings for them.

Finally, Brad and Tom are widely believed to have hated each other on that set. And its reported that theyare still super awkward around each other. Brad kind of confirmed it, he said something about how different their personalities are.

      • Sisi says:

yeah weren’t there stories about brad calling tom Dr. Strange?

      • Kk says:

Tom Cruise was ‘lost’ to CO$ during the years he was with Nicole Kidman, which was during interview with the vampire..

Loved seeing the old pic of Brad back then, so yummy, and then all spoiled by the pic of now *sigh*

      • Toot says:

Juliette is second generation COS. I know her father(Geoffrey Lewis) is a member. She was 17 when she was with Brad.

  5. OutstandingWorldCitizen says:

Not surprising they would try to get Brad. Plus he dated nutty Juliette. Good thing he was smart enough to know better or the need for weed saved him. He’s been in the business long enough and is not as dumb as some of these posters might want to believe. Lookism?

Anyways actors and actresses fall for this because most of them are insecure. Recruiting up and comers or the successful is a marketing ploy. They can tote the list of members and entice almost anyone who wants to be famous to join their nutty cult. Members spend millions of dollars on training. Look at the Celebrity Centre!

    • Tapioca says:

Lookism? No – dumbism. He’s dropped a few clangers in interviews over the years, especially where his private life is concerned. Still, he’s smart enough to run and hide from Xenu, so kudos!

I believe that IWTV co-star Tom Cruise was less into the CO$ whilst he was with Nicole, and only went truly batsh*t insane after they split.

    • Emily C. says:

He looks like my dad, but with more hair. So no, not lookism. I don’t think Pitt’s abysmally stupid or anything; he’s said some dumb stuff, but he’s no Goop. Perhaps I just expect more from a man who married Angelina Jolie and looks like my dad.

Also, it’s a myth that actors and actresses fall for Scientology a lot. They don’t, especially considering how hard Scientology tries to get them. There are incredibly few Scientologists in the world, actors or otherwise.

  6. Eleonor says:

I don’t think he is dumb, I think he considers himself far way to smart than he really is. Kudos for him from staying away from that crazy cult.

  7. Aras says:

It wouldn’t surprise me if they unleashed Tom Cruise with the hard sell on Brad Pitt. Brad ain’t so dumb after all.

It does make me wonder what the hell they have on Tom Cruise and John Travolta. This organization wants to pride itself on detox and the like, but detoxing from drugs won’t make it so that you’re afraid to leave (which is what I feel when it comes to Cruise and Travolta).

    • V4Real says:

What they probably have on Cruise and Travolta is the truth. I’m pretty sure they know these two men are bi-sexual or gay and they would rather die being a part of the Co$ then let that info be revealed.

That’s why I’m thinking Cruise settled his divorce with Holmes so quietly and quickly. She had too much on him.

      • Aras says:

🙂 Yeahhhh, I was thinking the same thing, but I was being too coy. It’s a shame that either of these men believe that being bisexual or gay would ruin their careers when, really, what’s ruined their careers is this seemingly blind devotion to this cult.

      • Kiddo says:

You know, I could kind of see that for Cruise since he may still qualify for leading man roles. But being gay isn’t the kiss of death for a career anymore. Further, I don’t know, I’m not necessarily believing that Cruise is gay, I get more of an asexual vibe, but what do I know? Travolta’s ship has long sailed on the romantic male lead, and again, being gay or bi doesn’t shut you out of films anymore, so I think that there is much more to the both of them remaining. What it is, is anyone’s guess. Maybe they know too much? Maybe the sense of community and high standing in the organization is paramount to them.

      • Emily C. says:

Cruise is a true believer in Scientology. And Scientology does weird things to one’s sexuality. According to ex-Scientologists, not only is being non-straight considered evil, anything sexual whatsoever that is not the following is considered evil: missionary position sex between a married man and woman. And the woman is supposed to remain perfectly still throughout. Any deviation from that and you’re doing something completely and totally horrible, in Scientology. No masturbation; no pre-marital sex; no varied sexual positions; no real participation, if you’re a woman; and etc.

        Scientologists become Sciento-sexual.

      • Kiddo says:

        @Emily C., Sounds like fun.//

      • Belle Epoch says:

Women are supposed to remain perfectly still during sex? WTF? Get a blow-up doll! Now I’m wondering what’s up with any woman who would agree to that. It’s another sign of LRon’s mental illness, which has been turned into a lifestyle to emulate! The world is upside down.

      • Kim1 says:

@Aras they wouldn’t have had their careers if they were openly Gay.Also being in COS has not ruined their careers.Cruise is still one of the most powerful actors in Hollywood.I’m glad Pitt didnt get involve with COS though

      • agentscully says:

@Belle Epoch LOL blow-up doll was exactly what I was thinking too!

      • V4Real says:

@Kim1 I completely agree with you that if Tom and John had come out as gay or bi during the beginning of their careers, they wouldn’t have had as much success as they did. At that time Hollywood was not ready for gay leading men and from what we can see today, they are still not completely ready.

But as for their current careers; I agree with Aras. John ship has longed sailed and Cruise is not as powerful or popular as he once was. His last few movies flopped and he is hoping that his next MI movie can catapult him back to the top again. His bright light in Hollywood is dimming. He’s not the box office draw he once was.

      • CC says:

Hollywood and society may be more accepting but I’ll eat my own hat (I don’t have one but I’ll buy one and then eat it) when an openly gay becomes either a major romantic lead or major action megastar. One of the two.

I don’t think it will happen in my lifetime. We’ll see.

      • V4Real says:

@CC I agree. I’m thinking that’s why my gay crush Matt Bomer lost the role of Superman in MOS.

      • Aras says:

You guys are right. I’m thinking in 2013 terms, but back in the 80s and 90s when Travolta and Cruise were hot commodities, they wouldn’t have dared to come out as anything other than straight, red-blooded American hunks.

I do stand by my assertion that being so publicly linked to Scientology, though, has not done much for their careers. I mean, look at Will Smith. He won’t come out and profess himself a Scientologist, though he seems a sympathizer who has his kids in their school, but my own little theory is that his career is starting to take a hit because of his (tangential though it may be) affiliation with that organization.

      • Carol says:

Premarital sex is forbidden? Given Suri’s participation at his wedding and Kelly being pregnant when John and she married, I guess that is one if the minor rules if you are a celebrity COS.

    • Bridget says:

Travolta they have a ton of dirt… But Cruise is not only a ‘true’ believer, he’s also pretty much #2 in the church. They’ve convinced him that he’s extra special, brought here to earth to help save the rest of humanity. Seriously, how much of an egomaniac do you have to be to believe that kind of stuff?

  8. Opa221 says:

I never thought Brad was dumb. On the contrary I think he is pretty smart in certain cases. He’s just not the most eloquent speaker.

Yeah, I’m so tired of these Scientology people. Just strange.

  9. Rhea says:

Meh. Old story. Also, correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they try to “recruit” Jolie as well after she gave birth to Shiloh??? There was a gossip about it before. Something about Cruise invited them for a playdate with Suri???

    • mslewis says:

The story about Shiloh and Suri having a “play date” was just a made up story by one of the rags. These two kids have most likely never even seen each other.

  10. V4Real says:

“I wonder if Tom tried to recruit Brad all over again.”

Oh Kaiser I’m sure Tom tried to recruit Brad but it wasn’t for scientology if you know what I mean.

  11. GiGi says:

I feel sorry for him. He simply was not smart enough to be high profile member of the CO$.

    • Sal says:

I think you mean he was TOO SMART to be a member of CO$.

    • Emily C. says:

The “church” that claims almost all of human history is a lie, that if anything bad happens to you it’s your own fault, that psychiatrists caused the Holocaust, and that you’re covered in space cooties because of an intergalactic overlord named Xenu? Oh yeah. Gotta be real smart to buy that rubbish.

  12. Kiddo says:

I guess he was doing it because of his girlfriend Juliette Lewis. I know Juliette was into drugs and says Scientology saved her from them.

Ah, the power of self restraint and positive thinking brought out by the placebo effect. It’s like the Wizard of Wiz, in the end, where the lion learns that his courage was inside of him all the while, but he needed a badge to believe in it.

As to Brad and Bono, perhaps they have more leadership qualities, inherently, rather than being followers?

  13. La jolie now Andrea says:

Brad isn’t dumb! Yes he might not be articulate or eloquent but definitely not dumb….

  14. Humane says:

He looks so hot in that last picture.

  15. Nerd Alert says:

I think I heard some of this before, about the time that VF article came out last year or so. Brad gives me the impression that he sort of bends and moves to accommodate his current lover, and this fits with that.

    As an aside:
Brad Pitt describes himself as 20% atheist and 80% agnostic, and goes further describing his beliefs. He doesn’t use the term, but he appears to be a soft atheist, meaning he thinks nobody can really know if there’s a god, but there’s no reason to believe there IS one.

    • manta says:

How can you come up to those percenatges? Do people 30% atheist and 70% agnostic exist? Can you be 40/60?
He just sounds like a guy who’s afraid to be controversial and just makes the statement that won’t rile the masses.

      • Nerd Alert says:

I would co-sign that argument. It’s like “well my liver and heart are atheist and my pancreas, lungs and brain are agnostic…”

I was trying to put it there without endorsing his meaningless assessment of himself. While I don’t think he’s dumb, I don’t think he’s particularly intelligent. You know, the whole morphing to please people trait gets in the way.

      • Kim1 says:

So you have never used % to describe any aspect of your life.I have ,just the other day I described myself as mostly shy 75% introverted,25% extroverted.Saying he is atheist or agnostic is not playing to the masses it is alienating the masses.Every study or poll shows less than 10% of Americans classify themselves as atheist or agnostic. Not exactly the”masses”

      • Nerd Alert says:

Yeah, Kim1, maybe I did when I was in high school or something. But I’m all growed up now! As an adult, I understand that this assessment makes no sense. You can’t quantify yourself like that; it is not a coherent description.

Also, I was making the point that Brad Pitt is in fact an atheist [based on the description that followed his asinine percentages], and that atheists are so hated in our country that he put in that agnostic part so more people would like him. For whatever reason, people don’t mind an agnostic.

  16. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

I can’t tell him and Helmsworth apart anymore.

  17. doofus says:

OMG at how gorgeous Nicole Kidman used to be…!

  18. Emily C. says:

Brad Pitt’s not bright, but he has a certain amount of common sense. And, importantly, he has a little bit of humility. I get the feeling that if people tried to love bomb him, he’d start wondering what they wanted from him. This makes him smarter than the average celebrity — though that’s not saying much.

  19. Pinky says:

Nicole Kidman used to look like a painting. Girl, why did you mess with yourself!

  20. Laura says:

The story about Brad and CO$ isn’t new, but I’m pretty shocked about Bono and the cult.

Then I realise that he has one of the biggest egos around, so of course he’s going to be curious about having superpowers and being a ‘big-being’.

I wonder what woke him up to the scam? Did his wife put her foot down? Did the other members of U2 tell him to get the hell out? Or did he just see his cash disappearing down the drain?

I’m sure it wasn’t the ill-treatment of it’s workers, or it’s insidious forced-abortion rule or the disconnection policy. My guess is the money.

Ooh, I wonder what dirt they kept on him to stop him from ever speaking out against them?

  21. lisa2 says:

Brad does not hold to Religious practices. SO that being the case he would never ever join COS. He was raised in a very religious family. His family is still very religious.

And Brad is very smart. The people that I have seen that give interviews talk of how smart he is. I don’t get the need to paint this man as unintelligent because of his looks or past use of Pot. Brad has spoken of that time. But he has never been a hard core drug user. His success wouldn’t be what it is if he was.

People underestimate him all the time. Which is a good thing in a way; because he can surprise the naysayers and keep doing what he wants.

Hollywood is a strange place to navigate. And considering Brad knew no one and had nothing when he came to HW.. he really is a true success story.

    • La jolie now Andrea says:

Your comment is always on point Lisa2!!!

    • Maya says:

Wonderfully written and absolutely correct. People underestimate Brad and he always proves them wrong. I personally think people put down Brad and Angelina because they are jealous of the way this couple lives their life.

  22. Guesto says:

Haha no surprise at all that Bono tested the CoS waters!

If it’s possible, I think his ego is more out of control than TomThumb’s.

  23. Florc says:

This is super old news. In fact any time Tom speaks to Brad or invites him an Angie to anything it’s brought up again.

  24. kibbles says:

Aging and plastic surgery suck. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman went overboard with the plastic surgery/botox. Brad still looks alright but sometimes I forget how handsome he was 20 years ago. At least he looks good for his age. Nicole would have looked much better without the botox and surgery.

I don’t think Brad Pitt is dumb. I wouldn’t call him smart, but he probably has a slightly above average intelligence. Angelina wouldn’t have married someone as dumb as Ryan Lochte for instance. And yes, the fact that he was smart enough not to have been sucked into the cult known as Scientology says a lot.

  25. Bridget says:

I never really thought about how much of a recruiting press Tom Cruise must give his co-stars, but is it just me, or does he not have an awful lot of repeat costars? Especially high-profile ones? Cammie D is one of the only ones I can think of right now.

    • lucy2 says:

Aside from Bronson Pinchot (Balki!), I’ve never heard anyone say anything bad about working with Tom, but I do get the impression he doesn’t really form friendships with coworkers, and you’re right there’s not a lot of repeat costars. I’ve heard stories about them having a CO$ tent on set, so I can imagine that it’s not always pleasant to work in that environment.

      • Bridget says:

Almost no one says anything unpleasant about TC, which is what makes it so interesting to me. It’s like he’s in another stratosphere of weird and people don’t even want to engage. And yes, he’s famous for having a $ci tent on set, and he totally thinks he’s doing something really nice for everyone by doing so.

  26. Maya says:

Enough with the Brad is dumb thing. He is very intelligent and tries to learn new things because he has the money and opportunity to do it. Yes he wasted his twenties and thirties by being high and focusing on the vain side of Hollywood. But unlike most men who gets midlife crisis in their 40s Brad actually sobered up and became the man he wanted to. He has a large family, award winning career and produces wonderful movies, design furniture for both public and hotel lines in Middle East, develops and sells praiseworthy wine, spends hours and money on humanitarian work and most importantly he is with a woman who knows how to enjoy life and seize the opportunities life gives you. To me that sounds like a very intelligent man who knows what is important in life. He might not be articulate but is intelligent in the ways it counts. If he was dumb he would still be with his ex-wife holidaying in Mexico, childless and smoking weed. You can judge a man by the woman he is with and Brad has enough brain to be with Angelina instead another typical vain Hollywood actress…

    • La jolie now Andrea says:

@Maya I agree with you completely..

    • La jolie now Andrea says:

Sorry about that you just seem to know how to articulate your points which makes Me feel no need to comment further cos all I want to say has been pretty well summed up.

    • Joan says:

beautifully sumed up. Couldn’t say it better. THANK YOU! Though I highly doubt it would shut the people up who thrive on this kind of baseless bashing, but it’s still nice to hear some common sense.

    • kibbles says:

Pitt was 1 credit short of graduating from University of Missouri Journalism School, one of the best journalism schools in the country. Maybe he got in because it was easier for him being an in-state student, but without being rich or well-connected at the time, I’m guessing part of the reason he got in was because of merit.

If people think the fact that he dropped out when he was 1 credit short was dumb, he proved everyone wrong by becoming a multi-millionaire celebrity. He’d be making peanuts if he had become a journalist instead.

The guy’s not dumb. He’s probably smarter than the average Hollywood celebrity.

  27. The Original G says:

This recent *Brad is dumb* leitmotif being pushed lately seem more like sour grapes that his projects seem to be doing very well.

    • Joan says:

LOL! It does seem so. This leitmotif is a welcome outlet for the haters frustration that Brad just doesn’t go crawling up and die. Well, if it makes them happy…

  28. MademoiselleRose says:

I don’t think Brad Pitt is dumb. I don’t think he’s super smart either. I think he’s just an average joe who is as smart as he needs to be to live his life successfully. I think most people would agree he’s led a pretty successful life.

I don’t get a gay vibe from Tom Cruise either. As someone else said above, he seems asexual. And didn’t Nicole Kidman say recently (can’t remember where I read it and it could be total sh*t) but she doesn’t much like sex. So maybe that’s why they were successfully together for 10 years, being on the same page (non)sexually, before she did something he didn’t like that blew it apart.

  29. MissMoody says:

Brad did a movie retrospective with EW some time ago. When “Interview With A Vampire” came up, he mentioned that he did have a hard time on that movie but mostly because he realized that it was a starring vehicle for Tom Cruise and not him. Didn’t get the impression that him and Tom had a warm relationship on-set. I doubt Tom tried to convert him but he was still with Nicole at the time right? According to most accounts, he only morphed into Xenu Tom around the time he divorced Nicole. I wish Tom would recruit me. Completely cray “religion” but everytime I think of him in the “Last Samurai”…..yum! I miss movie star Tom.

    • LAK says:

INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE was mostly filmed in London and I remember the stories coming out of the set. Brad and Tom didn’t get on well primarily because Tom was competitive about every little thing and was constantly challenging Brad to all kinds of stuff that Brad didn’t want to do.

I remember this was an insecure period for Tom despite being the biggest movie star in the world because everyone was talking UP Brad being the hot guy due to the double punch of A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT and THELMA AND LOUISE. It was a period when he really blew up and it rubbed Tom the wrong way.

I also remember the onset stories about how crew weren’t allowed to speak to Tom and all these wierd douchy little details about Tom. Meanwhile Brad was just trying to get on with it.

      • CC says:

Wasn’t there a story that since Brad is taller than Tom, that Tom actually made sure that either the movie was filmed to show them at the same height, or Tom had a MAJOR case of the lifties?

      • LAK says:

CC – Yes. I remember that. 🙂 can you imagine working in that sort of environment with tiny mcshorty constantly jumping up and down in your face! Urgh.

      • ann says:

the crew wasn’t allowed to reveal details about the filming, tom made everyone signed a contract. I can see how brad and tom didn’t get along, they are so different like fire and water.

      • LAK says:

Ann – big Hollywood films shot in Britain are now a dime a dozen, but in those days, they were rare, maybe 3-4 max a year. So IWTV was a huge deal when they filmed in London.

And yes, the crew was made to sign contracts, but stuff still got out. And funnily, most of the stuff that got out was shading Tom….i wonder why?! 😉

  30. Angelica says:

I LOVE that picture of Brad, Nicole, and Tom! It takes me back to my teenage years…

No, I don’t think Brad is a stupid man. I do think he spaces out from time to time, but it could be the reefer, or he could be ADD, lol. Seriously, I have ADD and it ruins all the conversations! But that’s beside the point…

  31. Humane says:

Didn’t Tom lend his plane to Brangelina to fly from Namibia after Shiloh was born? I think I read it somewhere.

I still don’t get why people keep saying Brad isn’t bright. I think he is, just inarticulate at times. I specifically remember Marianne Pearl said she sold the rights to her book to Brad because he was the only one that had actually read it. He’s still considered an international Star after
25 years in the business. He didn’t waste this opportunity like so many other promising actors who got caught up in drugs ie River Phoenix.
Just think where RDJ would be in his career if didn’t waste his 20’s
and early 30’s doing drugs and in jail. Sorry I don’t consider Ironman oscar wworthy.

Totally agree with you! I’ve read some interviews of him and he’s certainly above average intelligent. He’s well-read and knows as much about worldly affairs as Angie (he’s just not invested in politics). Didn’t he gave Zwick or Pakula (don’t remember) a rare book that was signed by the author? And despite some posters here trying to paint him as being ‘dumber’ than he allegedly considers himself, he’s NOT and he never acts in a way or said things that could support it. In fact, how he handles his career and his private life is worth respect.

I miss the days when vampire films were like INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE or DRACULA starring Gary Oldman.

Of course I also miss the old Bela Lugosi versions too, but sparkling vampires is too much de-fanging for me!

I remember that in 1990 or so, Sky One had a Friday Fright Night movie night. Mostly low grade movies, but boy…some were SCARE..at least for me (I was 14).

Those were the good old days of “scary movies”. And yea, but 1990 we already had the “Freddy Krueger, comedian extraordinaire” but the films on TV were still old school (cheaper rights)

      • LAK says:

Oh I remember fright night. I wasn’t allowed to watch, but of course found ways to thwart the parents. LOL.

    AND MAY I JUST SAY…

Nicole deserves a HHHHUUUUUGGGGEEE mental apology from all of us who critisized her wearing a PUSSFACE for all those years!

clearly watching Katie go to DEFCON 1 after being harassed by Tom & his Co$ nutjobs proves that Nicole was under duress and went through hell as well.

all she does now is coos & cuddles with Keith and her sweet lil’ angels. 🙂

    HAPPINESS = 1
    SCIENTOLOGY = 0

Not a big fan, but glad he didn’t get sucked into CO$. I think they’ve tried to recruit just about everybody in one way or another. I really hope all the bad (and true) press keeps that from happening anymore.

  36. Meanchick says:

COS could very well have targeted BP, doesn’t mean he would have joined. There’s no “almost” to it.

  37. ann says:

If scientology is targeting insecure, egocentric people, Tom surely fits the bill. He was abused by his father and he’s a control freak. I kinda feel sorry for him and if CO$ makes him feel better, so good for him. I just don’t like his attitude in that he tries to push his belief and opinion unto others.

  38. TimeTurner says:

Before Kidman’s plastic surgery and Pitt’s unwashed look they would have made a hot couple.

    • MrsBPitt says:

Thats funny, because NK was originally slated to play AJ’s part in Mr and Mrs Smith.

  39. LaurieH says:

Brad’s no intellectual, but he doesn’t try to pass himself off as one either. He is clearly a smart guy and his charitable works in New Orleans and elsewhere is noble and admirable. He seemed like a directionless guy for a long time – which I think he would admit – and did often become like the women he was dating, though not for long. Even if he didn’t know who he was, he certainly knew who he wasn’t. He’s comfortable in his skin now. It shows. I can’t for a minute imagine Brad getting sucked into CO$. I can see him doing the introductory think to make his CO$ girlfriend happy, but the minute he felt uncomfortable, he was outta there. His family is quite religious and I think the pressure he felt from that growing up plus the pressure to join CO$ made him understandably adverse to all organized religion. I don’t think he’s an atheist though. I think he’s spiritual. I also think he regards that as highly personal.

  40. mslewis says:

This story about Brad and scientology is very old and has been repeated often. But Brad would have never become one of them because his mother would have put a stop to that. I think Jane Pitt doesn’t really mind that Brad considers himself an atheist (she probably thinks he’ll grow out of that) but there’s no way she would have stood back and watched him worship a failed science fiction writer as a god.

  41. The COS are a relentless group. When I was around 8 yrs old my Mother and I were approached outside of a drug store in LA giving away free books if you joined their mailing list. My Mom worked graveyard and read quite a bit so she went for it. Shortyly thereafter she said, “These people are crazy!!” The book quickly went into the garbage. It was Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard. Flash forward: when I was 29 yrs old and living in Portland I was STILL receiving propaganda from them to my Mom who had passed 2 yrs earlier.

  42. Nikita says:

Brad is four credits away from an architectural degree. Dummies don’t do that.
