Justin Bieber started a rumor that he’s playing Robin to Ben Affleck’s Batman

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber spent the weekend escorting Floyd Mayweather into the boxing ring in Vegas. He also succesfully trolled nearly every movie blog on the internet. All he had to do to set those wheels in motion is to Instagram the above photo of a Batman vs. Superman script (with his name emblazoned across the front) and a caption of “#robin??” Robin hasn’t been on the big screen since 1997 when Chris O’Donnell’s batcrotch strode alongside George Clooney, right? Forgive me if I’m wrong — I’m not really into Batman and haven’t seen all of the movies. But I do know that comic fans will not stand for Robin to be portrayed as a complete wuss. Robin IS kind of wimpy. Not Bieber-style wimpy. That’s pushing it. It is kinda funny that Bieber made movie fans so *smash* angry over this rumor. Low five:

Is Justin Bieber in consideration to play Robin in Zack Snyder’s sequel to Man of Steel, or is he just having a laugh? No one knows for sure, but Batfans were horrified Friday night when Bieber added a photo to his Instagram feed in which he appears to be showing a copy of the Batman vs. Superman script with his name on it. The Instagram was captioned “#robin??”

While fanboys would likely be even more outraged by Bieber taking a role in the film than they were by Ben Affleck’s casting, they’re sure to be interested by another tidbit revealed on Bieber’s photo: The title Based on Batman: The Dark Knight Falls by Frank Miller and Klaus Jansen refers to the fourth chapter of Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel, which could show that Miller’s work will influence the script more than previously thought.

Of course, Bieber also shot a video for Funny or Die today…and a prop script would be just the thing to stir up both the Beliebers and the Batfans.

[From Variety]

This script was probably manufactured as part of a Funny or Die vid, which makes sense. Hollywood Life has also spoken to a source who confirms it’s all a joke: “Justin Bieber will NOT be in the next Batman film, either as Robin or craft services.” I think Hollywood knows that any boost in ticket sales from Beliebers would be offset by fanboys refusing to pay for a movie featuring Justin Bieber. The little guy does have his heart set on acting at some point and wants to be the next Mark Wahlberg, but even Wahlberg ain’t having it.

Here’s some pics of Justin at New York fashion week with designer Jeremy Scott.

Maybe if it was Batman, Robin and Douche. Beiber would be perfect for the douche roll.

  2. brin says:

    Holy Batsh!t crazy!

    • Liv says:

Haha, the producers are probably super nervous – first the backlash about Affleck being Batman and now Bieber scares the fans with this!!

  3. Erinn says:

Read this rumor to the fiance and his face just dropped. “I can accept Ben Affleck – I’m going to try and let that one slide. At least he’s an actor. But I’m done if Beiber is in it. I WAS looking forward to this movie at one point”

So, he’s successfully gone from a kid who used to wear a batman costume around the house, and want to BE batman to dreading this movie haha. He has been slowly coming to terms with the Ben Affleck news, so I’ll give him credit there.

I kind of feel like the rumor was to help people accept Ben as batman more. We can take Ben as batman, but there is NO WAY Baby D*uche can be robin. Having the prospect publicized then denied kind of serves to comfort people in the casting of Ben, if that makes sense?

  4. blue marie says:

ha ha ha, well Robin was always kind of wimpy so I could see the resemblance.

  5. dahlianoir says:

There’s a Robin who dies by the Joker’s crowbar. He could only play that specific scene and leave the rest to real actors 😀

  6. Elisabeth says:

I can’t wait till he starts referring to himself in the third person

“justin is gonna be robin…justin needs a drink…justin is unhappy”

  7. MademoiselleRose says:

Ben Affleck was the kiss of death for me. Whoever picked him needs his head read. I won’t be paying to see that. Shame, because I liked the first one. So, I don’t know, Beiber as Robin could be fun since I’m not watching it anyway.

  8. Sea Dragon says:

How ironic that he’s standing next to a man wearing a tracksuit with dollar signs taking flight. Everytime Bieber does something idiotic (seriously dude, Robin?) or walks out of the house looking like an douche (baby mustache, eyebrows pasted to his hairline, gold chain, flashing gangsta signs) a substantial amount of money that could have, probably would have, been his lands in someone else’s bank account.

  9. LadyMTL says:

I just like the title of the script “The Dark Knight Falls.” I can only imagine how accurate it might be, considering the fact that almost no one like the idea of Affleck as Batman.

  10. Savanna says:

Chris O’Donnell was the last Batman to be all sidekick-y, but at the end of The Dark Knight Rises while Joseph Gordon Levitt’s idealistic cop character tries to tie up some loose ends, we learn his first name is Robin. I remember an audible gasp in the midnight showing when that happened. It was awesome, I can get on board with such a handsome Robin 😉

  11. tifzlan says:

Is he throwing a gang sign in that close up of him with Jeremy Scott…..

  12. Dorothy says:

Ummm, only if Robin was a girl!

  13. Bex says:

Wow, I’m glad I missed that rumor or it seriously would have killed my weekend. When you think of the tease of Joseph Gordon Levitt and how amazing he was in TDKR and then imagine Beiber it is insanity.

I wonder if how his ego always manages to block out how much the twitterverse and the rest of the globe hates him.

  14. Dimebox says:

Ah yes, Beiber the baby thug as a crime fighter…sounds like the kiss of death. Seriously, just imagine the huge fake muscles he would want in his costume. Of course, the codpiece sagging to his knees might ruin the effect.

  15. Saffie says:

Seriously, when is this kid’s 15 minutes going to be up?

    • Belle Epoch says:

This ^^^!!!!!!! Absolutely everything about him is annoying, self-indulgent and infantile. What is keeping this train rolling anyway? 12 year old girls?

Open question: where do you all see Bieber ten years from now? I’m really curious!

      • Mika says:

You’d be surprised at how young his fans are. They range from as young as 10 years old up to 21 years old. Sad, isn’t it?

  16. ray says:

    technically robin was in tdkr

  17. eliza says:

Am I mistaken or isn’t Joseph Gordon Levitt Robin? At the end of Dark Knight Rises it is revealed his full name includes Robin and he is seen heading to the bat cave. I assumed he was Robin unless he is no longer associated with the franchise.

  18. Mia 4S says:

A fine bit of trolling from Baby Bieber, as if the fanboys and girls weren’t already clinically depressed over Affleck! 😉

  19. gg says:

Go ahead, douchette, pull on the tights. All the way up … And the world chortled.

  20. Feebee says:

Ah ha ha ha ha. Bieber as Robin, yeah right! But even funnier is this prank, which I think it is. A brilliantly funny prank. So JB probably didn’t think of it. Causing a whole lot of fanboys to go batshit crazy = awesome!

Way to switch the outrage focus. Ha ha ha ha.

  21. TherapyCranes says:

I’m still pissed off that Ben Affleck is going to be batman.

I love his little boy mustache in these pictures. Please please please keep using them.

  22. bored_01 says:

that’s actually pretty funny/clever on his part. batman jokes are a step up from peeing in buckets and such.

  23. IceQueen says:

If this is true I’m worried for Affleck’s carrier.

  24. Dommy Dearest says:

This little twat completely disrespects DC comics and Batman alike just by even forming the smallest of thoughts about the subject.

  25. elo says:

Dude your from Canada, stop throwing up west side gang signs.

  26. Casting says:

I work in casting and that is a real script. I see those kinds if scripts every day. The text at the bottom proves it. All scripts that go through a studio look like that. I haven’t read the script but I’d bet a lot of cash money it’s real. I’m not sure where Bieber is repped but of he’s at the same agency as some of the team, easy to get an advance read. But that’s all it is. Someone let him read it. And he should not have tweeted it. Egomaniac.
