Here are some photos from last night’s American Music Awards, which apparently was a who’s who of pop music acts. Everybody showed up, which is preferable to the crap show at this year’s VMAs this past September. If you’re looking for a trend from last night’s fashion, I would say that many of the women were doing some 1970s styles. Lots of Halston-looking gowns and jumpsuits, lots of long, straight hair or feathered Farrah hair. Like Taylor Swift, who totally looks like one of Charlie’s Angels here. Taylor wore this sparkly gold Julien Macdonald and you know what? I don’t hate it. Mostly because I’m tired of her princess gowns and bridal couture, so it’s fun to see her in something that makes her look like Barbarella. Tay-Tay won Best Country Album, Artist of the Year and Favorite Female Country Artist. You can see the full list of winners here.
More fashion photos… Ariana Grande in sparkly Dolce & Gabbana. She’s very pretty and this isn’t a terrible dress, but everything feels off. If I was styling her… I would tell her to ditch the ombre hair and then really play with some fun hairstyles. Then I would put her in cute cocktail dresses rather than pageant-looking gowns.
Emma Roberts in Lanvin. You know what? I like this. Her styling is beautiful and I like the ‘70s vibe. My only complaint? The shoes. Awful.
Jennifer Hudson in Christian Dior. I didn’t think J-Hud would look this amazing in orange. She really pulls it off. I like this look on her a lot.
Zoe Saldana in Roland Mouret. Ugh. Usually I like Mouret’s designs, but this is just awful. From the neck up, she looks great – but the dress is just awful.

I think the general consensus is that the fashion at the AMAs really wasn’t on point.
I love Taylor but this isn’t a great look for her at all and is it just me or has she lost a lot of weight recently? I know she’s always been naturally very slim but this look is worrying.
And why does Ariana always look like she’s close to tears?? Is that look a thing? I don’t get it.

I noticed that about Taylor too–she looks a LOT thinner than usual.
Taylor looked awesome. Anyone who can inspire a comparison to the original Charlie’s Angels, Barbarella, and a young Farrah Fawcett is doing EVERYTHING right!

I thought Taylor looked Hot! She has great legs. Daily mail even posted photos of her red carpet looks over the past 3 years at this event. Everyone commented, she look the same weight in all three photos.
Jennifer Hudson look great, Ariana Grande was a mess ( my daughter can’s see me typing this) she Loves this girl, ditto for Zoe and Emma Roberts. Although, her photo isn’t posted here,I thought Nicole Richie look fab as always.
Was going to say the same thing about the Grande girl. Always looks like she’s a sec away from bursting into a rendition of “All by myself”
YES!! And at the very least she is dressed like an adult person here not like a cake/a 5 Year old Toddlers and Tiaras minus the bobby socks or some such child like variation (which seems to be herr default)

Ariana always looks like she’s about to sneeze. I know almost nothing about her, but she annoys the heck out of me. And I don’t even know why. Maybe because she’s my age and acting like she’s 12.
I like Taylor Swift’s look and she’s a pretty girl but I think it’s sad that she felt the need to get breast implants. Yeah, her body looks good but in a Barbie doll, fake kind of way-the implants are really obvious on her because she’s thin.

I think Taylor looks stunning in that dress, but she does look really thin. She’s one of my favorites & I was glad to see her in a different style. I wonder if mixing it up with the VS model brought the change?
I like the dress, too, but I’m not sure I like the hair. She has slowly eased into a more adult and provocative style, and I think she mostly nails it each time. This was one of the few fun dresses there.
Is she slumping because the dress is so short she can’t stand straight with flashing? There’s something awkward about her posing. I like her styling, though. Sexy for her.
That’s what I was thinking, because Tay-Tay really does look hunched over. I don’t hate the look but now I’m wondering just how short the dress actually was, lol.

Swifty looked much thinner than usual last night. The dress… I feel as if if she’s worn something very similar before.

@Anna It is a mystery to me why Taylor still wins all the country awards, and I say this as someone who’s been a fan of hers for a long time. It makes no sense – Red isn’t country at all. Speak Now (the album before her last one) was Country Pop at best.
It’s kinda like how Rihanna always wins the R&B categories even though she’s a pop singer.

Ariana Grande was adorable. Did you see her cute shuffle on and off stage? I don’t know if the dress was too tight or her shoes were too high, or both, but it was pretty funny.
I liked Taylor’s dress and styling but she looked very thin, even more so than usual.

Taylor always wears the same type of dress, so boring. And I noticed how ridiculously thin she looked too! She’s always been super skinny, but she has nothing left but bones now!

No improvement… fashion just bad last night. I did like the orange on Jennifer Hudson and the pink lining but the cut looked like someone did it for revenge and she had no time to fix it so she tried to work it.

Maybe it’s the mom in me but she looks like she isn’t sleeping or eating well and someone just threw a dress on her, did her hair, did her make-up and shoved her onto the stage and she’s too damn tired to care.

I give the night to JH. She looked fab. I love her hair cut and that color looks great on her. I think Taylor came in a close 2nd. Not so much because of the dress but because I loved her hair and makeup. I thought Emma Roberts looked horrid.

Emma Roberts is a card carrying domestic abuser (and it wasn’t just with Evan Peters, remember all of the stories about the horrific verbal abuse that she subjected Chord Overstreet to during their relationship??) therefore I have nothing complimentary to say about HER, but I love Lanvin and that dress is a total dream ☺
If my my knockers didn’t just look at strapless bras and laugh and laugh, then I would KILL to wear beautiful blousy strapless gowns like that 😀
The only dress I like from that bunch is Taylor Swift’s.
Taylor needs to have a cheeseburger or something. She is really starting to look too thin. I am not what you say a fan of her music (let’s face it, I am too old) but I do think Taylor is a pretty girl (though a bit immature) and is talented but she getting way too skinny.
Eat something girl and do a bit of training with weights. You will feel better and even be a better a musician for it! 🙂

Taylor looks awful. I hate the makeup, the hairstyle, the way the dress looks on her, even her hair color. Blah. Also, I don’t see how this is any different to what she normally wears. Is it a short, sparkly dress? Yes. Does it have sequins? Yes. Next.
Ariana Grande always does this hairstyle. Also, way too much white powder; it looks like someone took an eraser to her face.
Jennifer Hudson looks beautiful. The bright colors are fun and pretty, and the makeup (coupled with her short hair) really bring out her features.
I cannot fathom that Julien Macdonald has a bankable career, and that celebrities actually wear his clothes. He reliably makes tacky horrors that would get you kicked off a first round of Project Runway. Mystery.
