Beyonce wore leather, cowhide ensemble to a vegan restaurant: offensive?

wenn20913903

Here are some photos of Beyonce and Jay-Z coming out of a vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Beverly Hills over the weekend. As we discussed last week, Bey and Jay are doing a 22-day “vegan challenge” to celebrate Jay’s 44th birthday. They started last week, and I guess the challenge ends on Christmas Eve (just in time for Christmas ham).

If you follow Beyonce’s Instagram, you know that she’s been taking photos of some of her vegan eats (some of which look very appetizing). But there’s a problem. Because there’s always a problem, because yes, everyone does tend to nitpick Beyonce. Even I do it on occasion. Everyone is nitpicking Beyonce these days because her vegan challenge has nothing to do with animal rights, it seems. Beyonce doesn’t give a crap about “not wearing fur” or “not wearing leather” or “not celebrating meat in other ways.” We know this because… look at these photos. She wore leather pants & a leather/cowhide top to a vegan restaurant. EPIC! She also wore fur to another vegan restaurant, and a few days ago, she wore a pepperoni-themed ensemble to another vegan restaurant.

To be fair to Beyonce (and Jay) – they never said they were going vegan because of animal rights or anything. Don’t put that on them. They’ve never shown much interest in cozying up to PETA or the anti-fur brigade or anything like that. As many of you suspected, Jay and Beyonce are just doing the vegan challenge for their health, and probably to see if they CAN. Like, “let’s experiment with this diet to see if we can do it.” And I’m starting to wonder if Bey is going to make it, because it seems like she has cows and pepperoni on the brain.

She really is spectacularly stupid. And ridiculously attention seeking, I mean this is Gaga/Miley level attention seeking. Couldn’t just wear one animal product outfit to one vegan restaurant, no, she had to do it 3 times just to make sure we really got the message.

    • NerdMomma says:

It’s really obnoxious! Sure, people can go vegan for their own health and not for animal rights. I am not saying anything about that. But she should know that many of the people working and eating in the restaurant ARE there because they care about animal rights, and they will be disturbed by her dead-animal outfits. So she’s famewh*ring. Does she really need to do that?!

      • doofus says:

totally agree. go for a plant-based diet for health reasons if you want, and you don’t have to care about animal rights if that’s not part of it…

        BUT…

…if you go to a restaurant where it’s likely there are OTHER people who DO care about animal rights…well, have a little bit of couth, ya know?

      • Daaahling says:

Agree! Even if you are eating for the health reasons and not for the more altruistic reasons, at least have the class to not wear pro-dead animal/mistreated-animal products attire into an establishment like that. It’s the equivalent to entering a church or religious site while bearing super anti-religious attire. Have respect, have class for other people. I am not a vegan, but I respect other people’s choices. I actually have something that Beyoncé does not (said respect and said class), and this fact just made my day 😀

      • Jojo says:

Sorry to be oppositional on this but so what if some patrons are offended? First, if we all tried to live in ways that wouldnt offend other peoples sensibilities, we wouldnt live at all. I have relatives who are Minimalists for instance and who rail about the perils of consumerism constantly. And while they have solid points they are just going to have to accept the Ipads, phones and cameras at get togethers. I have in laws who are born again Christians who just have to accept that my little sister is a lesbian and also god mother to my child.

Too bad vegans, some people who eat vegan also use animal hides……get over it I guess.

      • Emily C. says:

So what if some people were offended? Uh, it was rude. And I find trying to compare choosing to wear leather to a vegan restaurant to having a sexuality that some people disapprove of to be highly offensive.

We live in this strange thing called a “society”, in which we do not run around flinging our poo at other people for some odd reason.

      • Brown says:

        @Jojo,

I kind of understand what you’re saying about “who cares if they are offended…” I feel that way sometimes if I do or say something that I’m not intentionally meaning as offensive… can’t please everyone all the time. I think the issue here is that she was clearly doing this TO BE offensive, no? What could the other reason be? The options are 1. it was a total coincidence that she was wearing these outfits during these outings, 2. she is too stupid to realize that what she was doing was offensive (highly unlikely since I’m sure someone in her camp would have pointed it out even if she didn’t realize) or 3. she did it on purpose.

There is just no real need to do something like this. So bizarre and sad for her.

    • Dhavynia says:

      +1000
      Attention-you-know-what

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

Beyonce wants to rub it in our face how much MOOlah she has!

It’s not so much that she’s a stupid cow, it’s more that she doesn’t GAF about anyone except herself, so any kind of attention is aces with her.

    • BooBooLaRue says:

Took the words right out of my mouth.

    • Jenny says:

I’m not really trying to defend Beyonce, but I myself have worn leather (handbag and shoes, not entire outfits) to a vegan restaurant. I absolutely did not do it intentionally and only realized when I was about to walk into the restaurant. I did feel a bit uncomfortable about it, but went in anyway and no one said anything or gave me any dirty looks.

I guess what I’m trying to say is if it only happened once I could completely understand, but repeatedly… On the other hand I don’t know if Beyonce is smart enough to be trolling us with this; I think she might really be completely oblivious.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Yeah, you summarized my feelings exactly. I’ve never been to a vegan restaurant but I could see myself going and forgetting to switch out my leather boots. I also agree that I wouldn’t make that mistake more than once, much less THREE times.

      • pao la says:

I don’t think anybody is giving a hard time to anybody about wearing leather boots and bags.. you’re not reminded every second that they’re made out of leather but wearing a cow costume top to toes is a completely different story. I’m sure it’s fake fur, which is even worse, because she knew she was going to have a reaction and that’s why she did it. ‘You know what Mr. carter? i think I’ll wear a cow costume to a vegan restaurant. Isn’t it hilarious?’ I think beyoncè did it as a funny thing, something silly to do, and soon she’ll say that people have no sense of humor .

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Pao La-I saw several sites saying that it’s real fox fur. They make very nice-quality fake furs these days and can be a bit hard to tell the difference, but I DO think it was real fur. It’s pretty awful and I agree with you about the head-to-toe cow outfit.

      • MD says:

There’s a difference–maybe not on principle, but at least in terms of in-your-face-offensiveness–between wearing leather shoes to a vegan restaurant and wearing a cowhide or fur collar.

    • Tanguerita says:

agree. If you do it for your health, then hire a cook, for Chrissake. Don’t flaunt your disrespect into people’s faces.

    • ncboudicca says:

Agreed. Incredibly rude of her – it’s completely “IN YOUR FACE”. especially because she keeps doing it. I’m sure there are tons of people walking into vegan restaurants wearing leather shoes or carrying leather purses, but this is like she’s giving everyone in there the finger.

    • JALorden says:

She once designed shoes that used several different animals skins.. At least four/five if I remember correctly. She’s one of my least favourite celebs out there.

    • lucy2 says:

I agree – it seems like she’s doing it on purpose, for the attention. Just like announcing their diet plans – who gives a crap?

    • John Wayne Lives says:

      Every word you said

    • MW says:

I can’t understand why she would do this on purpose, but it looks like she did. She is overtly, basically, throwing the thought of dead animals in the face of a lot of people who really have a problem eating animal flesh. For the people saying “too bad” — some people don’t like gays — it is like going into a gay bar with a t-shirt with an anti gay slogan and saying “too bad”. It’s their place, in both instances. They should be able to do their own thing without having to get over it because of some nasty or brainless interloper. JMHO.

  2. Birdix says:

It could be fake, right? Otherwise seems like she’s trolling the restaurant…

    • Kiddo says:

Good point, Birdix, it could be fake. Why spend the effort on something so fugly and frumpy, though? That top is doing her no favors, regardless of the intent.

    • handsome man saved me from the monsters says:

I think she’s trolling. I think she’s daring someone to say something to her. This is purely antagonistic behavior, so far beyond disrespectful

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I think it’s likely fake, EXCEPT for the fur-trimmed coat-that looks like real fur to me.

One thing these outfits all have in common: they’re all phenomenally ugly.

    • Thiajoka says:

I swear, this pic had me laughing all day yesterday–she wore the actual damn cow pattern! I don’t know if it’s ignorance, disdain, irony, or, as some online suggested, passive-aggression toward her husband, but that picture kept me in giggles all last night. Even if it’s not real leather, it has the cow pattern on it! (bends over in heap like six year old laughing)

  3. Neelyo says:

All about publicity. People are talking.

I’m so looking forward to her Mariah years because she’s going to insist on wearing tight ill-fitting clothing no matter what for a long, long time.

    • Brigittte says:

      Her Mariah years. Heehee!

    • Tania says:

Honestly, when I see photos of her in her giant shoes, fake hair and silly shorts, I think she looks like a transvestite. She actually looks bigger than Mimi to me. Her look is in no way flattering.

      • Tania says:

Might I add, that this is probably an insult to all the great looking transvestites out there. No offence intended!

  4. ANDREA1 says:

The only thing I came here to say is that she looks older than her actual age.. The weave ages her also arrgh. She needs to put it away.

  5. epiphany says:

I ‘m sure she did it as a joke – a tasteless joke, but then having money doesn’t guarantee class.
I don’t like Beeyawnsay, but I can’t get upset about a bad joke.

  6. CaribbeanLaura says:

Is it wrong that I find this hilarious? I think she’s doing some subtle trolling! LOL

    • The Original G says:

      You’ve got company. Hahahahahahah.

Where did her empowering haircut go?

    • LadyMTL says:

Me too! I never believed that they were going vegan for any reason other than “I wanna see if I can do it” and the fact that she’s wearing these ridiculous outfits when she goes to eat just makes me giggle. Subtle trolling at its best, maybe.

      • CaribbeanLaura says:

Yep. Now that I think about it the trolling might not be that subtle, but it still makes me laugh.

    • Lark says:

No, it’s not wrong. This literally made me laugh out loud. This is some EPIC trolling by Bey. Maybe some sort of passive-aggressive trolling aimed at Jay imo.

    • Latisse says:

LOL! I’m with you guys. Other people are taking this way too seriously. It’s hilarious!

    • Jackson says:

I disagree that it’s subtle. I find what she did obnoxious, insensitive and rude, but that’s my opinion. I can’t imagine why she would think trolling someone who is making her food would be a good idea, eh? I hope the person making her fancy meal got the last laugh.

      • anallynne says:

So then all of you are as dumb as her. congrats!

      • CaribbeanLaura says:

@anallynne. Why am I dumb because I found something funny? The level of trolling made me laugh. Maybe you’re trolling us right now. That made me smile too! Touche

    • Decloo says:

I agree. I think it’s pretty hilarious and I kind of like her for it.

    • SummersReign says:

I find it a kinda funny too….I had to laugh when I looked back at the smugness on her face, chic is clearly doing this for the attention! hahaha.

Slightly of topic though, its amazing how we all tend to get so offended by people’s actions these days even if it is not affecting us (hope my comment didnt offend anybody)

    • Thiajoka says:

      Seriously have LMFAO.

  7. Luca26 says:

I find the fur and the pepperoni offensive but the leather while a bit gauche isn’t THAT terrible. It’s easy to believe there were other patrons at the restaurant with leather items on.

    • Lucy says:

Yes! I completely agree. I’m an ethical vegan; however, my partner is not. When we go to vegan restaurants, he is likely wearing leather in some way (shoes, wallet, jacket [ugh]). I don’t think anyone is offended… Plus, I know lots of ethical vegans who sometimes lapse and wear a bit of leather. It doesn’t seem like that big of deal, TBH.

      • Pandy says:

I still have some leather in my closet that I am replacing as i can afford to. And I eat vegan or vegetarian at a minimum every day. I would never show up anywhere in real fur however. Fail.

      • Brigittte says:

See, I can understand your situation with your partner wearing or carrying leather. I think the issue with Bey here is that she is wearing a facsimile of, or an actual, cowhide! That is kinda TOO in your face obnoxious to me.

  8. Winnie says:

Maybe she is doing the challenge under protest.

  9. Marianne says:

I think its totally fine if she wants to wear leather and fur. It is however, insensitive to do it AT a vegan restaurant.

  10. Sherry says:

I am an animal lover; however, when I go vegan (which I do periodically throughout the year) it’s for my health not for animal rights. As you stated, not everyone who goes vegan does so because they’re PETA fans.

    • JALorden says:

Any informed vegan wouldn’t be a PETA fan anyway. They kill more animals a year than kill shelters do.

      • Emily C. says:

Yep. And they advocate not domesticating animals AT ALL, saying keeping them as pets is akin to enslaving them. Also, they’re misogynistic as hell. And they like to spread lies, like that “satanic rituals” are common. And I just read a stupid article by them claiming that dogs and cats’ greatest desire is to “be free”, which shows they know absolutely nothing of animals, as if we didn’t know that already. Oh, then there was that lovely ad that compared eating hamburgers to the Holocaust.

PETA is scum. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were founded by the beef industry to make real animal rights activists look bad.

      • Valois says:

The whole “Peta kills animals”-stuff is propaganda.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like Peta, I’m not an active member, I hate their campaigns. However, the whole animal rights movement profited from them because they aroused the mainstream’s attention.
Something like “no informed vegan would like them” is a bit harsh imo. I know plenty of educated and passionate vegans who do.*

        * Peta Germany is not as bad as Peta USA though.

      • Pandy says:

PETA does not slaughter animals wholesale. Please don’t believe that – it IS meat industry propaganda.

  11. pretty says:

    her hair is atrocious. lol!!!

    • John Wayne Lives says:

Her weave is so gross and I have to admit I fkn LOVE how awful it looks lol. This arrogant, self obsessed phony looks the part lolol

  12. Julianna says:

I’ve never seen her look so dorky. Cowhide & a head to toe pepperoni outfit? Really??

  13. KromBoom says:

Gaga should be taking notes: a celebrity outfit becomes the subject of interest when it’s in conflict with what the celebrity is saying. Whatever you might believe about good vs bad publicity, Beyonce is certainly getting more clicks than Gaga right now…

  14. Norman Bates' Mother says:

I’m not a vegan and I’m not offended but it’s an obvious, GaGa-in-her-underwear-in-a-freezing-cold-weather-level publicity stunt and I hate those. She’s all about attention these days. It could have been a coincidence if she wore such outfit once (“oh, she forgot, she didn’t think about it and she never said she cares about animal rights anyway”), but she does it all the time – and no, not because she wants to prove something to vegans or make fun about the situation but because she knows that a leather outfit might change a simple, boring meal in a vegan restaurant to yet another “exciting” media story about her and everything should be about her – Queen Bee. Blah. Still boring.

  15. Melissa says:

I tried to go completely vegan once and started to have health issues and lost a tremendous amount of weight within a short time span, so I went back to eating meat. Vegetarianism is not a trend but a lifestyle chosen by people who have bravely decided to put their health and/or beliefs first.

I hope Beyonce has her priorities straight but she seems so desperate for attention lately, she’ll do anything to get it so much that I don’t think there’s a word for it.

  16. Lark says:

I hate fur, but this is some major trolling on Bey’s part (there is no way this isn’t on purpose) and for that it made me laugh a little. Jay’s trying to be all serious about being vegan, and here she shows up wearing an all leather outfit with the hide still freaking on it.

  17. Mingy says:

She wore fox fur at the beginning of the week, head-to-toe in leather another day, and now cow hide! Unbelievable…
    http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/beyonce-wears-cow-hide-leather-2901822

  18. klue says:

    What a a a Cow!!
Also I took a peek at her instagram. She has over 7 million followers. But she follows no one. That just says so much to me

  19. Tatú says:

    idiot!

  20. Chloe says:

I find everything about this couple ridiculous, they should spend more time working on their talent than their brand. As for going Vegan, i feel they are doing it just to loose weight which is fine, but if they plan on going all out on a huge Christmas meal with meat the day after not eating meat for a month, it’s going to be a runny Christmas in their house.

    • Zbornak Syndrome says:

Love this! Yes, they probably will have a “runny” Christmas indeed! I think we get down on celebs a lot, but we forget- most are uneducated. I mean. literally. How many do you think even graduated high school? Yes, that’s snarky, but with all their money they put very little emphasis on education or even learning manners. Perhaps it’s a narcissist thing?

  21. Sara says:

I guess these idiots didn’t get the memo that veganism is no longer considered a healthy diet by anyone that reads up on nutrition. Some people do it for animal reasons and I get that but its definitely not a healthy diet. Grains and beans are bad for the human body.

    • mal23 says:

+1 Absolutely! Going vegan for your health is sillier than wearing a cow costume to a vegan restaurant.

    • Emily C. says:

“Grains and beans are bad for the human body.”

      *headdesk*

Yes, that’s why the cultures which were able to cultivate grains and beans overran the cultures which could not. And why grains and beans feed such a large portion of the world’s population. And why most people started living past childhood more often than not only when grains and/or beans became plentiful in their culture.

No, grains and beans are not bad for the human body. The one and only reason it’s trendy to say they are is that grains and beans are cheap. In the history of food policing, that which can feed poor people has always been considered “unhealthy”. This is purely a class issue.

Do you get enough to eat? Is your drinking water clean? Congratulations, you are healthier than well over 99.99999% of humanity throughout history, no matter what you stick in your gob. (I am assuming you don’t eat arsenic or something.)

    • Pandy says:

Wrong – grains and beans are the best.

  22. brasileira says:

I wouldn’t say “offensive” as much as I would say “specially stupid”. Which, seems fit to a lot of what Beyonce does off stage.

  23. missmerry says:

she wore leather to a vegan restaurant because she needs something for ‘us’ to talk about.

    THE END.

  24. sanna says:

She is ridicolous. How old is she? 12?

  25. Duchess of Corolla says:

    Idiots, both of them.

  26. littlestar says:

Beyoncé is an idiot, plain and simple. Listening to her give interviews makes me cringe. You can tell she’s uneducated (and hasn’t bothered with self-education either) and tries to sound like she’s “smart”, yet comes across as so phoney and moronic. While I think she is a great performer, I have to wonder where she is at mentally the past few years – her once private life is now open to the public, and she seems to be doing the most ridiculous things for attention (case in point, having no couth and wearing head to toe leather multiple times to vegan restaurants).

    • idk says:

I think it has to do with poor record sales. She was told to be more public and get with “the times”…that’s why she opened a tumblr account.

  27. Nev says:

    JACKASS.

always so weird and corny somehow has anybody else noticed?

  28. Miffy says:

‘I am Sasha Fierce!! I transcend your concepts of what’s meat or animal!’

I’d love to see what her stylist would do with some hemp. Make a weave out of it or something…

  29. themummy says:

She’s an asshole and nearly a walking textbook definition of cognitive dissonance. I find this spectacularly offensive.

  30. CHT says:

It’s like she wants to make sure everyone knows she can do whatever she wants. She looks hideous and quite frankly she’s being a spectacular c**t…

  31. S says:

Vegan is just a type of food. So what if she wore leather into a vegan restaurant? It doesn’t even mean everyone who works there is a vegan themselves… Or everyone who is eating there is a vegan. People are so sensitive. There isn’t a dresscode for vegan restaurants, just as there isn’t a dresscode for Japanese restaurants or Mexican restaurants.

At the very worst, she just looks stupid. And honestly, she’s looked worse, leather or not.

    • idk says:

I kind of agree…there is no dress code. I mean did anyone go back into the kitchen to see what the chef is wearing? Nope. The chef may be a hardcore meat eater and .he/she may raise cattle on a farm for butchering for all we know. I could see the outrage if Beyonce said she was going vegan because of animal rights, but she never said that. Also, that could be faux leather/fur right ? Who knows. There is much more in the world to be outraged about. And if people are against fur/leather, then it shouldn’t matter WHERE the person is wearing fur/leather to, it would be that they are simply wearing it ANYWHERE.

That said, I really think Beyonce and Jay-Z didn’t need to make an announcement about their 22 day Vegan diet…why didn’t they just quietly do it? Also, they can afford a chef to make great vegan meals at home or wherever they are. I don’t know, but I haven’t seen these two out so much as I have in the past week. What gives?

      • Jenna says:

It’s common sense to not wear leather or fur to a vegan restaurant; It’s extremely offensive.

As for the chef being a meat eater– I HIGHLY doubt that. Vegans want nothing to do with meat or any other animal product, never mind preparing it in their kitchen. Vegans are generally DISGUSTED by meat and other animal products. I’m surprised she wasn’t kicked out, to be honest with you. I would have for sure.

      • idk says:

@ Jenna – but how do you know it’s not faux leather? Also, the chef may very well be a meat eater, who knows? There are a lot of chefs out there that know how to make delicious vegan and meat meals. So who’s to say?

You guys need to remember, Beyonce didn’t say she was adopting the Vegan lifetstyle. Her and her husband simply said they wanted to try to eat vegan for 22 days. That is all. You do not have to commit to a “vegan lifestyle” in order to enjoy vegan food. I am sure there were people eating in that restaurant that ARE meat eaters but wanted a change or just felt like eating vegan food for the evening. Like I said, there is way worse things in life to get all bent out of shape about.

      • Brigittte says:

Who said they were outraged? I just think it is in your face rude, but I’m not gonna dwell on it. You can’t change the world, and sometimes you just have to laugh at Life’s Rich Pageant.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Veganism isn’t “just a type of food”, it’s actually a lifestyle that requires a lot of commitment and passion for animal welfare.

I don’t think people would be as upset if she was just wearing leather and fur and pepperoni outfits while walking down the street, it’s the fact that she deliberately wore them into a vegan restaurant. Sure, maybe it was a joke made in poor taste, but it’s basically an FU to the people who own and run the restaurant and anyone who believes very strongly in animal rights. In other words, she made peoples’ beliefs into a punch line. I’m not offended, but I find it very classless.

Again, veganism is not just a dietary choice, it’s a set of beliefs that people feel very strongly about. It’s just rude on her part, joke or no joke.

      • LadyMayhem says:

        +1000

Most of the vegans I know would be absolutely revolted and horrified at her actions. I only follow a partly vegan lifestyle but I certainly am. Seriously fucked up.

      • Brigittte says:

        Yes, thank you O.K.

    • Jenna says:

      Wow, you’re extremely ignorant!

      Vegan isn’t a “type of food”, it’s a lifestyle.

Google it. Learn something. Vegans are saving the planet one non-meat meal at a time.

  32. Suzy from Ontario says:

Doesn’t surprise me. Did anyone read the article about when she went to visit the pyramids in Egypt and Dr. Zahi Hawass, Egypt’s head Egyptologist basically said she was late for their meeting (no apology), rude and stupid and that he didn’t want anything to do with her again. I mean how thoughtless do you have to be to wear something like this to a vegan restaurant? It’s not like she doesn’t have a zillion other outfits she could choose from?!

  33. Suzy from Ontario says:

Here’s the article from Huffington Post about her Egypt trip if anyone is interested: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/27/beyonce-kicked-out-pyramids-egypt_n_4350093.html

  34. AG says:

Hahahaha! Clueless idiots. You think someone in their entourage would say “ehm, hey, vegans don’t usually wear leather, guys…”

    • Caz says:

entourages are paid to say “yes, you’re awesome, you’re the best etc etc”, not to point out their benefactor’s deficiencies 🙂

Beyonce came through Customs when my sister law was on duty. She said she was extremely plain and average-looking. Any style kudos should really go to her stylist/hair/makeup people.

  35. dorothy says:

Umm, look dumb *ss you don’t go to a vegan restaurant covered in cowhide. Stupid.

  36. anne_000 says:

Since she’s publicized their particular diet by letting the press know & by posting photos, she knows that by wearing animal/meat prints & furs to vegan restaurants, this ‘controversy’ will add to the media attention she desires so much. In short, she’s doing it on purpose so that the media & people will talk about her even more. Famewhore….

  37. Megan says:

Sorry I don’t find this offensive. She went to dinner, the pants (not the top the top is terrible) are extremely in fashion, I love them. She isn’t forcing her believes on anyone she wore an outfit. Now one could argue she could be more sensitive but frankly considering how intolerant and sometime hateful Peta can be of those that don’t agree with them, I am having a hard time bashing and not cheering someone not bowing down.

I believe in animal rights (although I have no issue with leather, I am obsessed with those leggings) but if you want people to learn about your cause and support you it is helpful not to attack them, destroy their personal belongings and basically troll them.

Now I have to go drink away the same of defending Bey.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

What does PETA have to do with veganism? Every vegan I know abhors PETA so please don’t lump them together.

      • Jenna says:

Peta is a massive advocate for veganism. No, some people don’t like their policies… but I bet all vegans respect their balls and the fact that they constantly encourage ppl to eat a plant based diet, wear non-animal skins, and use products that weren’t tested on or made from animals. Peta is extreme, but they get the message across.

And great point, Peta had nothing to do with this article… Beyoncé is an ignorant twat for doing what she did.

      • Missykittens says:

Actually Jenna Peta do not get the message across – this is why everyone hates them. They are hurting the cause by making vegan /animal rights activists seem like utter nut jobs. Do you take advice from a crazy person? Hardly anyone listens to Peta because they have lost all credibility.

      • Pandy says:

        Vegan here – PETA supporter.

  38. mar says:

ok, the point is, who would even wear such an UGLY as s outfit to begin with, let alone to a vegan eatery? Thisa outfit is offending me on it’s own.

    she is an idiot.

  39. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

Beyonce = Troller of the week.

    Smh.

  40. TheOriginalWaffle says:

Going vegan for your birthday? I guess if you’re filthy rich, the only new luxury you can buy yourself is pain and discomfort.

  41. vv007 says:

That is tacky and so is she.

  42. MsDaisy says:

I’m not too sure Beyonce’ wanted to do this plant based diet. Beyonce’s body did not get that amazing by eating plants only. Plus she is a southern girl, she loves eating meat.

  43. Jenna says:

Vegan isn’t a “diet”. It’s a lifestyle. You’re either vegan or you’re not. If you’re wearing leather or fur, you are NOT VEGAN. You’re just eating a plant based-diet.

Veganism is an ethical and moral decision based on anti-humanism values and equality among all animals.

What she is doing is not only offensive, it is just disgusting. The ONE place she could wear ANY OTHER MATERIAL TO, she doesn’t. I’ve lost a ton of respect for her after this.

  44. EscapedConvent says:

I cannot believe anyone would wear a cow top to a vegan restaurant! How dumb/oblivious can she possibly be to do that?!

I always think people must be in a little bit of touch with the surrounding world, & I see I couldn’t be more wrong.

  45. Dawn says:

She still is a million times better than Kanye West.

  46. Missykittens says:

Beyonce is embarrassing. No class at all, no?

  47. noncontentious says:

hahahahaha – but i love her even more

  48. Jessiebes says:

I’m going with the “she is an idiot and offensive” comments here.

Btw being offensive is not funny.

  49. megsie says:

I’m torn between oblivious and attention whore. She’s not the brightest bulb by a long shot, it’s true, but she’s also a diehard pr seeker. Can’t decide.

  50. Naomi says:

For the most part I have never considered Beyonce to be a stylishness woman. She is wealthy and can afford to be styled well but frequently (to my tastes) she misses the mark. I think she has a good body but generally don’t appreciate her personal style. It always strikes me as just the wrong side of tacky. I shudder when I see her mothers designs. I find them completely insupportable.

  51. eliza says:

She is 100% doing this for attention and journalists (this blog included) is playing into it. If you stop covering her, no one will be talking about her.

  52. rlh says:

Sorry…she does not get a pass. She knows full well about the animal rights people and their concerns because she has been directly contacted by some groups, given literature and asked to show compassion. I could almost forgive the leather…almost. But the fur was a direct FU to the animal rights groups. And that was unkind, obnoxious and childish. She is not a nice person. She is very calculating and narcissistic. She is most definitely a fame-whore and I look forward to her going away.

  53. Tara says:

    totally clueless and offensive

  54. lisa2 says:

I’m going to state the obvious.

are she and Jay Z trying to one up Kim/Kanye.. I mean no one is talking about either nor Blue.. but Kim/Kanye seem to be everywhere.

Maybe they are reminding the world that there is still Bey and Jay.

We all know if this had been Kim/Kanye it would have been to the roof. This whole thing makes them look desperate.

  55. ct says:

The outfit is NOT leather- it is obviously pleather… serious, [as a former vegan] you know there are leather/ suede alternatives that can look nice… but this doesn’t look ‘real.’ i give credit to these two for giving this lifestyle a try- they are smart and innovative and that’s why i imagine they are trying this out… there are plenty of VEGAN nobodies, and they do it for health, environment, animal rights, whatever and not to cause a publicity stunt. Bill Clinton- did he do it to get in some magazines? Beyonce’s ensemble is another nod to veganism, and i hate to say it, but this site seems less smart every time i visit. judgements calls with no research or thought… that’s a statement of disappointment, not of nastiness.

  56. Blackbetty says:

    What an attention seeking move!

  57. Punkypuss says:

I’m a vegan and even if someone is doing a vegan diet for health reasons please show some respect most vegans do the vegan diet for animal rights and health. Have some class and respect and don’t wear animal products to a vegan resturant as it’s highly offensive! As proper vegans will be offended as will the owners!!

  58. Just Me says:

Didn’t Jay add on as an afterthought that Beyonce was doing it? Something like – PS B is doing it too? I didn’t read it, so I don’t know for sure. If that’s so – maybe she didn’t actually agree to it. Maybe they discussed it previously and she was on the fence or said no – and his addendum sort of forced her to partake. Maybe her outfits are subtle shade to Jay? Not excusing it in any way – just wondering.

  59. homegrrrral says:

Isn’t she in the milk on lips ad? Maybe she wore a cow shirt.to make sure she honored her contract. Juat giving TBOTD.
That aside, she doesn’t always wear head to toe animal skin, so it has to be intentional. But why?

  60. Daniel says:

If stupidy was a drop of water – she was a hell of tsunami

  61. kim says:

Sigh beyonce looks like lady gaga…really white. Maybe it’s the blonde hair? maybe its the tacky way she is wearing trends? Idk. Vegan isn’t a hard diet to do in this day and age, so why do they want a gold star?

  62. RHONYC says:

sure it’s not ‘vegan’ faux-leather…that outfit looks cheap as hell to me. 😐 jussayin.

  63. BabyCakes says:

It must be hard for them to not be a power couple anymore what with KK and KW getting all the publicity and attention. She’s definitely try too hard . I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, she lost me years ago when she was talking about being independent then flipped the script and was talking about can you pay my bills. Dafuq??? Make up your mind. And don’t even get me started on the pillow baby and J and Barney’s. …..

  64. Pooky says:

Beyonce was not aware of what she was wearing to vegan luncheon..if someone had pointed it out to her she would have changed…people will be self righteous about this while millions of babies are slaughtered in the womb, the most dangerous place on earth.

  65. Most people go vegan for health or for animal rights. What most people don’t realize is that most soaps are made with tallow which is made from the harder fat of animals. Choose all natural soaps for a real vegan life-style.
