Aw, I wish Joan Fontaine got her own post. She was a really interesting lady. Her adopted daughter Martita (who ran away and joined another family in the Northeast, becoming estranged from Fontaine) was the sister of a family friend, whose family lived in Peru and were incredibly poor. I don’t know the circumstances of the adoption, but I don’t think they ever saw or spoke to her again. My dad happened to be on the plane with his mother and brother when Fontaine was on board, on her way to adopt Martita (he was a young kid at the time). He said she was very kind, and he got to sit on her lap. The bitter sibling rivalry and hatred between Fontaine and her sister was the stuff of legends. I was always more team Fontaine than team Havilland, only because I grew up disliking Havilland in all her roles.

I agree! She isn’t even mentioned in the links post, which is sad because Hollywood lost TWO legends yesterday, not just O’Toole. As for me, i have always been Team Havilland but i really do wonder how she feels abut Fontaine’s passing. It’s got to be hard to carry a feud to the grave, no matter how bitter the feud was.

Maybe she’s hoping a romance with Evans will raise her profile? Ugh I’m so cynical lol. Maybe they’re in like and it’s a real thing.

Homeland thoughts: Season 3 was hugely disappointing the first half, kind of picked up and got better the second half (although the storyline was pretty farfetched – more so than usual for this show), and to those who were surprised by the ending… Did they not know Damien Lewis wasn’t coming back for the 4th season? I guess not, haha. Anyway, imo, I think they should have ended the series after the 3rd season. Everything was kind of worked out nicely at the end. I just can’t see this show going up from here :(. And it was so fantastic the 1st and (somewhat) 2nd season.
