Here are some photos from last night’s LA premiere of August: Osage County. The premiere lacked Benedict Cumberbatch, which was fine because at long last, Meryl Streep showed up to support the film. Meryl has been largely Hemsworth-ing this film, even though she’s getting wall-to-wall critical praise and she’s a shoo-in for yet another Best Actress Oscar nomination. So… why has Meryl been largely absent? Cough. I have no idea. Cough. By the way, Julia Roberts looked awful last night! Julia wore head-to-toe Givenchy. LOL. Riccardo Tisci is one passive-aggressive bitch, isn’t he?

I like Julianne Nicholson a lot, but she has not been bringing it to the red carpet. This dress is just… blah.
Hello, Ewan McGregor. You look hot despite your hair.

I do think Lewis is pretty but her wacky style often hides it.
Juliette has definitely been getting better with age. She cleans up nicely. I love it!

This is one of the most unflattering looks I’ve seen Julia wear in a long time. She looks frumpy and shapeless in an outfit that costs more than my entire wardrobe collection.
And why is Abigail Breslin always going for the bombshell look? It’s a little soon, isn’t she like 16?
She looks like one of the catering staff. So many nos to this. AWFUL!

Julia has never been a dresser. I think she’s really thick-waisted, and she’s never figured out how to dress well. Or maybe she just has lousy taste.
The only one I like is Meryl. And by that I mean clothing and as a human being.

Has Meryl ever played a character that was warm? I only remember her in cold and somewhat distant characters.
I also think she’s overrated. She is amazing, but not the best ever.
Bubbles, the only ones I can think of off-hand are her role in Mama Mia and the Lemony Snicket movie. Forever love her for Death Becomes Her and The River Wild, both are touchstones of my adolescence.
Oh, and loved her voice in Fantastic Mr. Fox! She was funny.
Meryl was soooo warm and lovely in Its Complicated! Her face was radiant and she just GLOWED with maternal and feminine power. Srsly. 😉

Spot on with the fashion commentary. I almost choked on my toast at Breslin’s photo. Eek.
And deranged bridesmaid or not, Juliette Lewis is the prettiest on the red carpet by far.
Everyone is dressed like, “Oh, f—-, I’ve got to go to this damned premiere. Honey, can you take the chicken out of the oven in 30 minutes?”
What is that on Julia’s finger? A potato?
I think it’s difficult to tell with the angle of the photos. Using a wide angle lens from above is creating a foreshortening of the bottom portion of their bodies. It’s distorting the look by making their lower halves squat.
Julia’s outfit would look good without the shapeless blazer and maybe a thin waist belt (something colored) to break up the monotone feel of the look. Love Juliette even with the deranged bridesmaid outfit.

Good God what a fashion mess!!. All the way around (excepting Ewan) I don’t find Julia Roberts attractive. I thought she was v v cute in Pretty Woman but then the ugliness of her true character seeped out from behind the facade & she is forever unattractive to my eye. While I will admit a lovely dress/outfit there isn’t one in sight here

I wish Meryl would dress more like how she was costumed in The Devil Wears Prada. Not that she is not a beautiful woman otherwise, but those pulled together, chic, diva-tastic looks were incredibly flattering and cool.
That tuxedo jacket on Julia is terrible. It does nothing to flatter her figure. I guess there is no feud between these two. Another blind that turned out to be wrong.
