Robin Wright: ‘I dislike arrogant men and diva behavior in either gender’

wenn21087142

Now that Robin Wright has admitted to getting “sprinkles” of Botox, I’m giving her beautiful face a second look. Can you see the ‘Tox in these photos? These pics are from the LA premiere of House of Cards earlier this week. I can see the ‘Tox a little bit. There’s a certain tightness, especially when she’s smiling. I still think that she’s getting some fillers too. Anyway, Robin is featured in this week’s issue of Us Weekly, their “25 Things You Don’t Know About…” feature. I thought this was interesting!

1. I take my cellphone with me everywhere. That damn thing!
2. I’m an Aries.
3. I don’t watch TV.
4. The perfume I wear most often is Chanel No. 5.
5. On set, I have to will myself not to wipe everything off my face. I really loathe wearing heavy makeup.
6. I dislike arrogant men and diva behavior in either gender.
7. I dream of playing a singer.
8. I can ask directions or order a meal in French. Seulement!
9. I enjoy classic Led Zeppelin.
10. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas.
11. The best part of shooting House of Cards in Baltimore is eating lots of soft-shell crab.
12. I run, lift weights and do yoga to stay in shape.
13. One of my first jobs was working in a clothing boutique. I got fired for telling the truth to a customer.
14. I eat at In-N-Out Burger every chance I get.
15. My nickname is “Robbie” or “Rob.”
16. My best dish is chicken potpie.
17. To prepare to play Claire on House of Cards, I just put on the Spanx and off we go!
18. My first concert was Creedence Clearwater Revival. I was 6 and watched atop my father’s shoulders as he danced.
19. Dark-chocolate-covered blueberries are my favorite sweet.
20. I’ve worked with director David Fincher twice…and hope there’s more to come.
21. My style is the complete opposite of Claire’s!
22. My top fashion designers are Ralph Lauren, Gucci and Stella McCartney.
23. I’m a supporter of Raise Hope for Congo.
24. I know three chords on the guitar.
25. I secretly want to skydive, even though it’s my greatest fear!

[From Us Weekly]

I really don’t like the smell of Chanel No. 5. Is that wrong? Do I need to turn in my Lady Pass? Chanel No. 5 is just too heavy and I tend to associate it with older ladies. Still, it’s a classic scent and maybe it suits Robin. I would have thought her more of, like, an Opium girl. Right? As for “I dislike arrogant men and diva behavior in either gender”… says the women who was married to Sean Penn. He’s like Mr. Arrogance. He’s Arrogance Von Smug. He’s Ham-Face McArrogance. So, is this a new thing? After her divorce was she all, “Never again. Life is too short to spend any time with someone so arrogant”?

PS… Robin’s ensemble here is by Kate Spade. I think those satin pants were a terrible idea.

  1. Christin says:

The part about her first job is my favorite. As for the arrogance part, perhaps it’s a case of excusing or not recognizing the depth of another’s behavior until you get away from it.

When you’re in the midst of a relationship, it can be different than when you finally have the distance and ability to reflect and see the bigger picture.

    • Sandybabe says:

I think like maybe she’s saying this exactly to let know why she left him: “I cannot take arrogance and diva behavior anymore” Besides, she made clear in a recent interview that she stayed with Penn just for the sake of the kids.

    • LadySlippers says:

Agree on the stepping away from things to get a better perspective.

  2. Lee says:

The thing that stood out for me: Stella McCartney. Why, Robin, why? She’s the Worst Designer Ever.

    • salma says:

      I LOVE Stella! Why?

      • FLORC says:

Old Stella is good. The last few years have been unflattering to say the least. Almost no one looks good in Stella.

    • bluhare says:

I don’t care for Stella’s aesthetic either, but she is far from the worst designer ever.

    • jes_sayin says:

Exactly what I thought! Stella’s designs are AWFUL.

But as for Robin.. she looks fantastic (just ‘a little’ Botox is how you’re supposed to do it!)

    • Diana says:

Tennis fans agree with you. I know it’s out of nowhere but many tennis fans(myself included) absolutely dislike Stella’s designs. She designs tennis apparel for adidas and almost everything she puts on the players is UGLY.

    • DIANE says:

She had me right up until the Stella McCartney. Then I just tuned out. Sorry, Robin, but I’d have to consider that a character flaw. If her name was Stella Smith, based on her design talent, she’d be flipping burgers somewhere.

  3. Mindy says:

“I dislike arrogant men and diva behavior in either gender”…

… Then why did she agree to work with Kevin Spacey?!?! AND David Fincher for that matter? I think she may be just a tad bit masochistic.

    • FingerBinger says:

I’ve heard that Kevin Spacey is a diva. I think she’s also buddies with Jen Aniston, another diva. She’s in the wrong industry if she doesn’t like arrogance and divas.

      • feebee says:

Maybe it’s sliding scale and she has a high tolerance given her industry. It still doesn’t compute that she stayed with Sean Penn for so long. He’d break even the most tolerant of scales.

I’ll forgive Kevin a little diva behavior cos he’s so deliciously fabulous.

      • pinkkiepoints says:

Penn is SO diva. That prick

      • FingerBinger says:

I don’t buy Robin is a saint and Sean is the devil thing. I think she’s just as messed as he is. Some people hide it better.

      • Mindy says:

This comes from friends of mine, who USED to be huge Spacey fans (key words her are ‘used to be’ <— his piss elegant diva behavior got to be too much for them) . When Robin won the Golden Globe for HoC, the cast and crew all congratulated her on twitter almost immediately… Kevin DIDN'T. He threw a hissy fit (and I was told by the same folks that he did the very same thing after losing at the Emmy's). It took DAYS for him to come around and congratulate Fincher publicly after the Emmys and I'm not sure he ever did so for Robin's win.

      • Roger C. says:

Well I don’t know, on interviews Kevin and Robin seems really close, they’ve been friends for more than 20 years, and he seemed genuinely happe for her at the Golden Globes. What I know is that next year Robin will be winning again, she really nailed that character, in a very complex, subtle and layered way, while Spacey is way too showy and unidimensional. He’s spectacular and I hope both win next year.

PS She also directed one episode and proved to be an excellent director, I liked very much the way she directed actors, since she’s an actor too. The best sexy scene on the show was directed by her (Remy and Jackie in bed)

      • Deehunny says:

Interesting. I knew it had to be something because I saw KS promoting season 2 of HoC and John Stewart had to actively hide his displeasure for the man.

    • Roger C. says:

If you hear the director’s commentary of House of Cards season 1, David Fincher when talking about Robin seems completely and utterly in love with her. I think the guy has a serious crash on her.

      • don't kill me i'm french says:

Fincher is in love with every actor who can support him because he knows he’s painful on set
The best complimentary that Fincher can do to an actor is working again with him/her

  4. Lila says:

It’s a silk jumpsuit and I think she looks beautiful in it, now that’s how you wear a jumpsuit (learn Julia Roberts and Amy Adams) it’s just that with silk comes wrinkles and there’s nothing to do about it
Penn is BOTH an arrogant and has diva behavior. This one was aimed to him. Remember when he withdraw the divorce saying that was “an arrogant mistake”?
Chanel #5 is a classic, can do no wrong.
As for the bOtox: just well done job, her Doc is an artist. Is got to be the tiniest amount, like she said. I would never noticed she has it.

    • pinkkiepoints says:

I do remember Penn saying that filing for divorce (or was legal separation?) was an arrogant mistake. He withdraw, and then she filed. FOR GOOD.

  5. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Completely agree about Chanel No. 5. I have always wanted a “signature” scent, but I’ve never found one, and since that’s a classic, I try it from time to time. But it just doesn’t smell good to me.

    • Emm says:

Try Chanel Coco Mademoiselle or just Coco…you’ll be hooked. Chanel has quite a few fragrances that aren’t anything like No. 5. I personally don’t care for that one either.

    • bluhare says:

I love No. 5. No 22 is nice as well. I cheat on No. 5, but I always come back to it. Frankly it’s nice to smell a good oriental floral with all the fruity vanilla stuff you smell around. For some reason fruity perfumes smell terrible on me, and vanilla makes me nauseous, so I stick with the good old lighter florals.

    • Kiddo says:

Jo malone, mix and match. http://www.jomalone.com
Chanel No. 5 gives me a headache, but I’m generally not a fan of florals, I like spices and fruits (if citrus or not overly sweet), with the exception of light lavenders.

    • FLORC says:

I looove my chanel! Some people wear too much. A dab on 1 wrist, rubbed on the other and sides of the neck is all you need. The musk of it blends with your natural scent.
Chanel and Versace’s boyfriend scent are my favs.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I should have made it clear that I dislike the way it smells ON ME. I have smelled on other people and liked it. I look forward to trying all these suggestions! I’m gonna smell so good!

      • FLORC says:

You made it clear. I just wasn’t sure if it was a scent overload.some perfumes jst blend terribly with others natural scent.

    • Ashley says:

Love Chanel No. 5. And I hate perfume

    • Delta Juliet says:

My mother wears perfume about once a year, and it’s Chanel No5. When she wears it, it’s intoxicating. I want to follow her around just to smell her. I can’t even describe how delicious it smells on her. I decided to try it myself and it smelled AWFUL on me. So disappointed.

But seriously, on the right person, it’s magical.

      • DaisyDuchess says:

Try chanel no5 oil elixir. Its sort of a gel, softer version of no5, minus the sometimes overpowering aldehyde scent. I dab some on my wrists and neck post shower.

  6. Lila says:

By the way what’s up with the bruises on her right arm? Looks like someone has hold her too tight. Rough sex with Ben?

    • Fresh says:

Lol. No kidding! Bruises on both arms. …odd that she went sleeveless without covering them up. Maybe she wanted us to notice?

      • Sandybabe says:

OMG I’ve just noticed! She could have use make up! I agree with @Lila: this is so hot sex with Ben Foster, maybe some strange Kamasutra position LOL

    • babs says:

I’ve just see the bruises too, and first thing I thought was that looks like fingers of a hand that was trying to hold her against her will, like she was trying to go away and someone grab her by the arm…scary! Or maybe is just that Ben Foster held her too tight during sex, as the gals before me said. LOL

  7. salma says:

    14. I eat at In-N-Out Burger every chance I get.
Liar liar. Given her killer body I completely doubt she had a burger like in the last 30 years.

    • wonderwoman21 says:

Lol a burger every now and then isnt going to blow her up noticeably; it’s not like it leaves a burger-shaped welt on your belly as an indicator of its consumption. I’m sure she has had a few burgers over the past 30 years.

    • Norman Bates' Mother says:

“12. I run, lift weights and do yoga to stay in shape” – lots of physical activity and she can eat whatever she wants (in reasonable amounts) and still be in a great shape.

    • Lara says:

I cannot picture Claire Underwood eating a burger. NO. I can’t picture neither Robin Wright, she must have every once in a while just raw carrots and kale smoothies for survival.

  8. Donnie says:

The internet and specially tweeter is crazy about Robin Wright, Claire Underwood and House of Cards these days, I’ve just searched Claire Underwood on tweeter and it is crazy: women want to be her, men want to marry her, a lot o girls want her hair, her wardrobe and her attitude. Just an amazing actress can create a character that people refer to by the first name. Robin Wright has Princess Buttercup, Jenny Curran and now Claire Underwood under her belt. Is there any other actress capable of creating such amazing iconic american classic characters as her?

    • Dame Snarkweek says:

To me she will always be Kelly Capwell from Santa Barbara. Love her so much!

      • pwal says:

Loved her as Kelly Capwell too. I’m a ride n die Cruz and Eden fan, but I would’ve probably accepted the Cruz and Kelly pairing if and only if Robin was still in the part. Eileen Davidson was a bad recast for Kelly, mainly because of her coldness.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

Totally agree! And even on old reruns of AMC I still see Eden when I see Liza lol

  9. eliza says:

Ummmm, wasn’t she married to an arrogant man?

  10. GiGi says:

I love her. And I’m way into the old lady scents, lol. I’ve been a Chanel No. 5 wearer since college, with intermittent visits to the house of Guerlain.

  11. Renee says:

I am thinking that her relationship with Sean Penn is EXACTLY why she dislikes diva behavior…it seems as though she spent their relationship being overshadowed by him. I don’t mind the outfit although the pants are rather wrinkled.

    • Sandybabe says:

true, he’s such a queen. what an a–hole. Good thing that’s not her problem she has to deal with anymore. charlize has that disgusting potato on her hands now

  12. pinkkiepoints says:

Buzzfeed refers to her as “Bossbitch.gov” This woman is creating a national case with her Claire Underwood portrayal!
“12. I run, lift weights and do yoga to stay in shape.” I want that f—-g exact work out plan. Robin is 47 and has a tight-as-shit 20something body!
“8. I can ask directions or order a meal in French. Seulement!” ok this got to be soooo sexy: Robin Wright speaking french!!!

“Sean Penn who? Ah, that old d-i-c-k with the fake dyed hair extensions and the baked ham face? Meh…”

    • suraj says:

LOL bossbitch.gov suits her perfectly! Our girl (sorry, our WOMAN) gets shit done. I love her and I love Robin Wright has dumped that parasite she was married to.

  13. feebee says:

I love Chanel No.5. It’s hard to wear in summer but I can’t find anything I like cos nothing else smells like it.

I love that she was fired for telling the truth to a customer. Maybe not the best idea but great all the same. Do these pants make my butt look big? No, it’s all that ice cream you eat that makes your butt look big.

Running, weights and yoga – perfect combination for healthy body (nutrition notwithstanding). Mental note to restart running and weights and find a way to not hate yoga.

I know what she means about skydiving… finally did it. Scariest thing ever. Glad I did it but OMG scary. Mind you having my weight written on my hand wasn’t nice either (yeah, really need to get back to the running thing).

    Have a lovely day CBers.

    • bluhare says:

Nice to read someone else shares my love for the classics. 🙂

    • Aquarius says:

I went skydiving a couple of years ago as part of a class at the university. I was utterly terrified, especially when looking out of the plane before falling, but afterward, it was amazing. I paid a boatload of money for photos and video because I have no plans to ever do it again, glad though I was to have done it. 😉

@feebee, I’m sorry your weight was written on your hand. UGH! I was mortified just putting mine on the form we had to fill out.

  14. Sandybabe says:

She’s just killing it on House of Cards. I think without a doubt that she has locked up Emmy, Golden Globe and Sag for next year. She even outclasses Kevin Spacey!!!

  15. A.J. says:

I love her. I’ve just binge-watched the whole second season of House of Cards. She’s the best thing of the show, such an amazing actress. And everyone is talking about Claire Underwood as a fashion icon: wardrobe and hair to die for. But with a body like hers is hard to look bad. I want to know her complete fitness schedule.

    • Naomi says:

I binge watched season one and will do so with season 2. I hadn’t planned to do so but I was riveted! I absolutely adore Robin Wright. Kevin Spacey wears on me because he is enamoured of himself and I feel it comes through and overshadows his talent which saddens

  16. sugar-ray says:

I’m watching House of Cards too, and I’m absolutely amazed by her body, I mean this woman is pushing 50 and has a better body than most of any young actresses working today! There’s ton of scenes that seems the director is crazy over Robin Wright’s legs, almost a fetichist thing. And what about the threesome with her bodyguard? WOW this woman is a A-class fox.

    • skyler says:

I was surprised Spacey agreed to the threesome scene given that he’s such a diva. Claire Underwood could show Olivia Pope a thing or two about being a strong woman. I’m in awe of Robin Wright.

  17. sugar-ray says:

I love that silk jumpsuit, silk is tricky you got to be in perfect shape, it shows EVERYTHING.

  18. suraj says:

From now to eternity she will be the one and only, the ice cold queen of all times: Claire Underwood. Bitch knows how to be hot, elegant and terrifying.

  19. Roger C. says:

Robin Wright for all the Awards. She’s amazing.

  20. Bluecole says:

    Loving that outfit!!!!

  21. wingman says:

She’s so beautiful it hurts. I hope to find a wife that looks like she does at 47. That dude Ben Foster is a lucky bastard, he’s my age and I would die to date her.

  22. Jayna says:

I guess I am the only one who doesn’t like her short hair? With her square jaw she looks mannish with the short hair. I would say she is a handsome woman in the photos. But like I’ve said before, she has a pretty voice with a hint of a southern accent and a sweet smile, so she is softer looking in person than still photos.

    • babs says:

I think that she rocks the pixie better than anyone in the show business right now. Actually I think it’s her perfect jawline that makes the short hair look stylish and non granny-ish on her. Vulture and other top magazines named her the best hairstyle of the year. She’s an amazing beautiful woman.

    • MissTrial says:

      @Jayna:

I don’t like the short hair either. She has a lovely face and nice bone structure but I ,too, think the short hair brings a ‘mannish’ look to her face.

The “von smug” description on Penn is hilarious!!

    • jocelyn says:

I really like her with short hair. With that face sista can rock even the bald look. I’d kill for those cheekbones. Claire is HBIC!

  23. Twez says:

Satin pants are never a good idea.

  24. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Perfume smells like nail polish to me – so I like it when people don’t wear it. It is awful to go to a restaurant where a person is wearing so much perfume and you taste it in your food – it is very inconsiderate habit that people have – even worse than smoking because it is indoor pollution.

  25. babs says:

I think her comment on arrogant men and diva behavior is directly referenced to Sean Penn. When he filed for legal separation and then withdraw it, he said it was an arrogant mistake. Everybody in Hollywood knew he had a very serious drug abuse problem, not to mention the alcohol abuse, and after his second Oscar he believed he was the king of Hollywood. His marriage to Robin, also due to infidelity on both sides, was on the rocks, he went to rehab to try to have her back, but by then she has had enough. She filed for divorce , moved back to L.A. and within a couple of years later she came back to be under the spotlight she deserves to be, being probably a better and more skilled actress than Penn will ever be.(by his own admission) PS: my comment not based on gossip but by working in the industry for more than 22 years.

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

It’s thanks to Penn that she knows Fincher .Penn worked twice with Fincher

      • babs says:

Penn worked just once with Fincher, the film was The Game. She first worked with Fincher when Michael Sugar, her manager, suggested her for the Girl with the Dragon tattoo. The first time Fincher and Robin met was in his office in L.A. when she auditioned for Paltrow’s role for Se7en. Fincher said in the NYTimes article about Robin that he always wanted to work with her and respected her as an actress. Penn has nothing to do with their working relationship. I’ve told you, I’m in the industry.

      • don't kill me i'm french says:

@Babs: Penn acted in Benjamin Button also but he was cut in the editing and Fincher knew Penn ( via Madonna i guess) since a long time before THE GAME
        Fincher also supports Penn’s fondation

    • FingerBinger says:

@babs You claim you’re in the industry, yet everything you’ve said here has been on gossip blogs before. You didn’t actually say anything new. In fact everything you’ve written here could be found on Wikipedia and a Google search. Working in a movie theater doesn’t qualify you as working in the “industry.”

  26. Jess says:

I don’t like Chanel no. 5 either. Never understood the appeal. And those pants are awful!

  27. Ruth Dunbar says:

She’s a Led Zeppelin fan. That’s all I needed to know. Hell yeah.

  28. Ginger says:

I think sprinkles of Botox is fine and the way that one should do it. Over do it and you look too plastic. I like that she says how she keeps in shape since she looks so fabulous and she’s older than I am…I will take what she says to heart. As for Chanel No 5…I’m a HUGE Chanel fan and I like a few of their scents. The only time I wear Chanel No 5 however is when I’m missing my grandmother (who died when I was very young) since that was her signature scent. So, I have to agree that it reminds me of older women too. As for the diva and arrogance comment, well I can only speak from the experience of a divorced woman and that is you truly don’t see those flaws in your former partner that clearly until you’ve separated. My ex is also arrogant and can get quite angry at times. That’s how I knew I wanted the exact opposite and got it when I married my second husband. I wish her the best with her new marriage (if she and Ben do walk down the aisle). I also married a younger man and I can say that it’s fantastic!

  29. valleygal says:

all I can say is that I envy her body, and her talent, and her face. And her fiancé.

  30. moena says:

She’s so beautiful. I was like OMG during the threesome scene because of the sexy stares she gave to Spacey and Meechum I started to have serious doubts about my sexuality.

    • graspberryflower says:

That threesome scene is EVERYTHING! It was beautifully performed and filmed, so classy and yet you can feel the sexual tension right there. Not and inch of skin or explicit sex, but one of the most erotic moments on tv. I love that this show is so openminded and treats viewers like adults without any hypocrite bulls**t. And yeah, Robin looks were very much sinister sexy!

  31. Lucy W. says:

I love that she’s so honest and bullish-t free to admit the botox. About the spanx I read an interview about House of Cards wardrobe that said that they put on Spanx on Robin not because she needs it to hide fat (she’s skinny as hell!) but because it helps her to get in character with the Claire Underwood bust posture. Amazing! They’ve just won the Costume Awards for House of Cards, best wardrobe ever!

  32. Leo says:

I love that she speaks french. She’s so hot, so sexy. Much more than a lot of other try-hard wannabe starlets.

  33. graspberryflower says:

Did she had a boob job? I remember her being more flat chested. Anyway she’s always been so beautiful, and always took good care of herself, easily she has one of Hollywoods best bodies, even at 47, I’d sign right now to look half hotter than she does.

  34. Klau says:

    13. One of my first jobs was working in a clothing boutique. I got fired for telling the truth to a customer.
I can almost picture the scene ” No, you will never be beautiful and slim like me”

  35. jocelyn says:

Hello Claire! You terrify me! You could made any woman feel like a little dirty and ugly worm. BossBitch.gov

  36. Lara says:

She has always been in my top 5 most beautiful women in Hollywood. And one of the most talented. So happy that she’s getting the recognition she deserves. At the Golden Globes Meryl Streep went to congratulate her and hug her and I almost die: my two favorites actresses ever captured onscreen. I’d love to see them together in a movie.

  37. jferber says:

I wish she didn’t hide her star for so long because of that asshole Sean Penn. He treated her like absolute shit for the longest time. Thank God she’s finally away from him.

  38. Matt says:

she’s terrifying beautiful in House of Cards. Absolute evil sexy.

  39. Kosmos says:

Arrogance and divas reign everywhere in the entertainment industry, but I couldn’t agree MORE with her comments, yes !! I have always liked Robin Wright anyway, maybe because she doesn’t come off as entitled and has no need to show off as much as other women in the industry. She enjoys being herself and I have to admire that above everything else. She is another good example for women of all ages, so I give her that…..

    • foceair says:

Right? she never used her beauty to get media attention, she turned down so many blockbusters and celebrity status, she’s really not interested in that. She’s a classy lady and a natural beauty, doesn’t need to try hard. Her work speaks for herself. LOVE LOVE LOVE Robin Wright.

  40. foceair says:

She has the best bone structure EVER! I love her, she’s such a great actress, she better start writing her Emmy’s speech

  41. Amy says:

Well, she’s right about the soft-shell crabs.

  42. grace says:

She’s not only a extraordinary beautiful woman but also a multitalented artist: not only she did a tremendous work portraying complex and layered Claire Underwood, but also directed episode 10 of the new season and did a remarkable perfect job at it. She’s got the talent for directing, precise, clean style and perfect actor’s direction. Well done Robin, looking forward more of you on the director’s chair!

  43. K says:

I think she looks fantastic, but I honest to God thought she looked that way as an over fifty lady. To see that she’s only 47 is surprising to me. She looks nothing like the vibrant, fresh young Jenny of Forrest Gump. In fact, I can’t even tell this is the same woman no matter how much I look at her pictures. This looks like a very well maintained classy fifty something year old woman. Still beautiful. No snark.
