Nick Cannon’s dyed his hair a crazy cheetah print: ridiculous or funny?

NC1

Last week, Nick Cannon did “whiteface” to promote his new album, White People Party Music. It was… weird. Some people were offended. Mostly it was just silly and uncomfortable. Now Nick has a new shtick – before he appeared on Good Morning America yesterday, he dyed his hair with a cheetah print. Nick Instagram’d some photos of his new cheetah-head with messages like: “#Animal #TheWildLife #IFinallyLostIt #Cheetah #CantCatchMe #TooFast #TryToKeepUp #wppm #Ncredible

As for what Nick had to say on GMA, George Stephanopoulos interviewed him and GS was trying to make the “whiteface” thing into some major controversy. Was it? I don’t know. People were talking about it for about a day, and then we all moved on to Gwyneth Paltrow. Nick was basically like, “We can talk about racism if you want but this is not about racism.” (I’m paraphrasing.)

The cheetah-print head makes some good points. But his points are lost because the cheetah-print is hypnotizing me. So, what do you think? Dumb stunt? Brilliant stunt? Ambivalent in general?

Did he suddenly hit puberty? He is starting to look like an adult now, rather than that usual babyface he sports.

  3. NewWester says:

Nik Cannon seems to be putting himself out there more so people will notice him. I can understand the promotion for the new album. But I wonder if it is because he is getting people ready for a bigger announcement? Divorce perhaps? There have been rumours he and Mariah are not getting along.

    • Size Does Matter says:

I was wondering the same. If he wants more attention he should leave his hair and face alone and take his shirt off more.

that is really wrong, would you say that about a woman? not okay. if this is really how he wants to express himself, shoot, this isn’t the first crazy hairstyle i’ve seen. women just tend to rock them more.

He is behaving like he is 20 years too early for a midlife crisis.

    Ugly as hell.

I love the cheetah print hair. I stood right behind a guy at Disney World a few years ago who had an awesome cheetah print hairstyle. It definitely gets attention. That being said I don’t ever pay attention to Nick Cannon unless I see him on this site. I only know him as Mariah Carey’s long suffering husband. Poor guy. I think most people just pity him. He should leave her and the kids might actually benefit not having to live full time with a narcissist.

Someone is desperate to sell records.

Makes him look like he has some kind of human mange..

This hairstyle is hideous.. But why are they trying to make whiteface this huge racist thing but when Julianne Hough did blackface all she had to do was make some pathetic twitter “apology” and everyone was okay with it?

  13. Ag says:

Yeah, this is sort of lame. I mean, is he 16 to dye his hair stupid colors? Meh. Having said that, I like him, so I’ll give him a pass. I’m sure Mariah will handle this.

  14. Rascalito says:

Forget about the hair, his body is amazing. :O

Most people today are mixed. I’ll quote my multi-racial kid when he was 8 years old standing behind a couple making racial jokes.

“What part of me is supposed to be angry mommy?”

He has a good point, what part of his DNA is supposed to be upset?

People who lean on race as a way to cause drama remind me of the ONE person in the office whining about their allergies and the perfume someone is wearing………..weak and wanting attention or a tool to manipulate.

II’m not offended, although the “yo brah” was pushing to cause a scene, it’s so obvious it’s worth a giggle for the attempt . But not worth anything more.

All I can think when I see him is…what a sad sack. He tries so hard to be cool and doesn’t even come close. He’s like that guy in high school who’s desperate to be liked but no one even cares.
