Rihanna mocks a fan with an ‘Instagram vs real life’ pic: rude or simply RiRi?

Rihanna

We didn’t talk about this Rihanna photo a few days ago when it happened. Rihanna was at the playoff game between the LA Clippers and the OKC Thunder. Steve Soboroff of the LA police commission approached RiRi for a joint selfie, and she obliged. Rihanna grabbed Steve’s camera and clicked away in glee. Then she dropped his phone, which promptly shattered. Rihanna felt terrible and agreed to autograph the phone so it could be auctioned off for the LAPD foundation. The phone brought in $56,000 from an eBay bid, and Rihanna donated another $25,000. Not bad.

Lest you think Rihanna is softening too much, she’s made up for her good deed by crushing one of her fans on Twitter. A 16-year-old girl named Alexis Carter created her own prom outfit based upon a winged jumpsuit that Rihanna wore in 2010. Somehow, this girl’s photo became an internet meme called “Instagram vs. Real Life.” Rihanna saw the comparison image and tweeted it with a frowny face. Rude.

Another viral image showed Alexis posing with a comparison to the Wu-Tang Clan symbol. Rihanna commented upon this image too.

This was a slap in the face to teenage Alexis, who told the NYDN, “I was very offended. Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing. She doesn’t love her fans like she says she does.” Rihanna probably thinks nothing of what she tweets. She puts a lot of thought into her selfies (although she recently deleted her Instagram account after they censored her bare rack), but she thinks nothing of dashing off a disapproving emoticon. The saddest thing is that Rihanna’s probably forgotten all about Alexis and her outfit. Alexis will never forget.

I always defend her but there is no defense for this. She could have been kind to a fan who was ALREADY getting bullied on social media and yet she decided to pile on. It’s ridiculous. It would have cost her absolutely nothing to be kind. Yet she joins in with the bullies to hurt a young girl’s feelings. Rihanna is trash. Done with her.

    • LakeMom says:

Agreed. I have a close friend who is a (now retired) movie/television star and he always said you have to show respect to your fans…they made you and they can break you.

      • Esmom says:

ITA, LakeMom and Latisse. She seems to be seriously lacking in maturity. Even if her intentions weren’t rude, they could be construed as so and therefore her tweets probably weren’t a smart choice.

      • Nicolette says:

Perfectly said. The fans are what make them or break them and they forget that. If there are no fans to buy the music, the over priced concert tickets, their product lines, the movie tickets etc. their careers would be non existant. The fans put them where they are and it would be a smart move for any celeb to remember that.

    • Tatjana says:

Is Rihanna smart? I’ve never seen a interview with her.

    • Rachel says:

I don’t see the mockery. I felt like the frown face was directed at whoever created and perpetuated the meme. And I felt like the second tweet was support for the girl, not mockery. I’m not a Rihanna fan, and all I know about her is what I see on here, but I don’t think her intention was to belittle this girl at all.

      • Latisse says:

It is mockery. In a follow-up tweet she cosigns with calling the girl a thot (wh*re).

You can see a 3rd tweet here: https://twitter.com/rihanna/status/464624525444120576

Again, the woman is trash. Why on earth an adult celebrity would ever think it is alright to call a 16 year old fan a whore: inexplicable.

      • ^ This. I didn’t read any of the follow up because knowing every detail of Rhianna’s day seems about as exciting as cleaning a kitty litter pan. And seriously what the helll kind of moronic slang is ‘thot’? It’s not even a damned word. Are we so low on insults that we have to start making up new nonsense.

      • Chem says:

Even if it was not her intention to bully that poor child, she could have corrected the impression as soon as it was created. As it is, her fan army which is apparently dumb as a box of rocks, took that as a cue to go after this girl. Not even when it got picked up by the media and the kid was internationally humiliated did Rihanna bother to correct the impression.

Why anybody is surprised that she is so dripping in hate and malice is beyond me anyway. Rihanna spent months hurling racist abuse at Chris Browns girlfriend at the time because in her dumb head she was entitled to the dbag and competition must just step aside. Her nastiness knows no bounds.

      • Serene says:

Chem – you’re so correct. Rihanna’s behaviour sickens me at times. I think that often Rihanna misbehaves badly but gets a pass because of her beauty.
I like her music but I don’t like her because of her cyber-bullying ways as well as racist overtones in many of her tweets.

It’s a shame but as beautiful as this chick is, she just seems like a terrible person overall.

      • JenniferJustice says:

Rhianna calling anybody a wh0re is laughable. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black….

    • aenflex says:

      Yup. This.

      • janie says:

She’s a piece of trash! Who says things like this to a 16yr old kid? Maybe she needs another naked vacation, I’m sure there has to be one or two people that haven’t seen you?!

    • katy says:

No, there is no defense for this. I feel sorry for Alexis, and I give props to her for creating that outfit. At 16 I could barely make my bed, let alone an outfit just by looking at someone else’s.

      • littlestar says:

I thought her outfit was awesome. It takes a lot of talent to be able to make your own pattern and then sew it. She should be very proud of herself.

        Rihanna is a complete loser.

      • MaiGirl says:

I agree. Literally the first thing I thought was how good a job she did on an outfit that is totally tough to imitate! One of the most reprehensible things people can do is shit on creativity, and while I think both outfits are ugly, she should be applauded for working this out so well. AND Rihanna should have taken it as the ultimate compliment that this girl spent so much time and effort to be like her idol. I never thought much of Rihanna, but what a deeply insecure bitch she is to be so offended by a creative 16 year old!

    • nikko says:

Or you can say she is being a good friend by telling her that outfit doesn’t look good on you.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

A Good Friend would NEVER tell you that you don’t look good online! WTH?

Try the ‘*sarcasm Font*’, ‘/end sarcasm/’ or simply ‘*sarcasm*’ next time, nikko. If you are indeed being snide, your remark is an epic FAIL.

      • Lisa says:

Or RihRih is a jealous “thot” who know that the 16 year old kid looks skinnier in that same outfit than she ever could! Stupid is as stupid does.

    • Shazz says:

Agree completely. Mean girling a young fan is indefensible.

      • homegrrrl says:

Honestly, the girl had a better body for this very unusual design, and If I were a star I might feel jealous, but wouldn’t show express this online, duh

    • Babalon says:

Actually, I think the saddest thing is that her emoticon was misconstrued.

I took it as a sadface that someone made the IG vs real life comparison in a negative way. It comes off as supportive to me. Especially since she praised the Wu Tang comparison.

I think it’s support that was taken the wrong way.

      • AdelDB says:

She retweeted a joke about the girl being a ‘Thot’ (means hoe). She wasn’t misconstrued – she was piling on. It’s completely unnecessary & mean behaviour, & it makes me think RiRi is not a very bright or pleasant woman.

      • Miffy says:

She retweeted a bunch of her favourite mean comments! Which part of retweeting and laughing about the comment “The dark THOT (that ho over there) Rises” was misconstrued support or positivity?

She flat out encouraged cyber bullying of a teenage fan. There’s no defending it.

    • Delorb says:

I don’t know why any of this is any surprise to anyone. I don’t follow her, but I do follow gossip. She’s trash, pure and simple. She won’t let anyone get away with saying anything about her on social media. You’d think she was too busy for stuff like this, but nope. And you can tell that she’s doing the replying and not some staffer.

  2. Tatjana says:

Both. She’s not a nice person and seems to be very very very immature.

  3. Alexi says:

    No news here.

  4. paola says:

Brianna is an immature tw*t but honestly some people are really delusional.

  5. Allie says:

Maybe I just don’t get it, but couldn’t her frowny face be directed at the meme and not her fan?

    • femputer says:

I thought this too. I didn’t immediately understand from reading the post why her tweet was a bad thing.

    • Tatjana says:

But her second tweet is clearly mocking.
I actually think the girl looked okay considering the original outfit was hideous.

      • manda says:

yeeeesssss!!!! why copy something so awful? actually, though, if looking at both, I like the black one better.

    • Blankverse says:

I was thinking the same thing. I thought it could be that she wasn’t happy that this girl was being made fun of and that RiRi’s image was being used to do this. Same with the comment ‘she gets it’ …I don’t see the malice in that comment…unless I’m missing something?

      • Erinn says:

Yeah, same. It’s not like she directly insulted the girl. She could have very well meant nothing by it.

    • Happyhat says:

Yup – I don’t get how this is shade. I read it that she was frowny-facing the meme. And the ‘She get’s it’ meaning that Rhianna was saying how wu-tang is good, and this girl looking like a wu-tang symbol is also good.

I dunno – again, am I missing something too?

    • magpie says:

Gonna pile on here too and don’t see the bullying. I think the frowny face was because it became a meme, not at the girl’s effort.

    • T.C. says:

Me too. Thought the frown was at the meme which seems negative to both RiRi and the girl. The second meme nest to the WunTang clan symbol was positive so she approved.

    • L says:

Folks, these are just 2 tweets-RiRi’s twitter’s been scrubbed. When this story first broke earlier this week, there were about 20-30 tweets where RiRi was putting this poor girl on blast, retweeting horrible things other people were saying while supporting them, and telling her fans to go after this girl.

      • ORLY says:

L – stop spreading BS lies. I was following along as this was going down, no tweets were deleted from Rihanna’s account regarding this. You can call it bullying but don’t make it worse than it was. The account wasn’t “scrubbed”.
I didn’t realise the girl was a teenager until yesterday, all along I thought this was someone around 21. Not saying age makes a difference.

      • Lady says:

@Orly- why would you think the girl was 21? They (including Rihanna) were calling her PromBat. 21 year olds don’t have proms.

      • ORLY says:

Lady – because at the time I was following it on twitter (not Instagram) I didn’t see any “prombat” hashtag. I had no idea she wore that outfit to a prom.
I’ve since paid closer attention to third tweet with the hashtag.
At the time black twitter was going in on the girl, my friends and I were talking about it on whatsAp. Her pose did make her look bat-like but I felt bad for her.

    • Tiffany :) says:

As someone posted above, she also retweeted someone’s tweet of the girl, calling her a thot, which means wh0re. She retweeted “The Dark Thot Rises” and then wrote “Haaaa!”…”they get it”.

If you are calling someone a ho, you clearly aren’t trying to be kind.

    • Geekychick says:

CB didn’t really tell the whole story. yes, she was clearly bullying an underage girl; she called her a term fro w*ore and mocked her openly. There is no excuse. Internet bullying is a real thing. Here was a 16year old that wore something different and a pop star found it funny to mock and bully her. Disgusting, trashy and low class. You don’t have to be a role model, or a perfect image, but I draw the line at behaving like a proper human.

  6. Jessica says:

Rhianna is an a-hole. And “simply riri” as an excuse? Since when is being an a-hole all the time an excuse for being an a-hole in one situation?

  7. Abby says:

if she had any class or kindness at all, she would have sent her designer outfit to that girl. because when will RiRi ever wear it again anyway? that would have MADE Alexis’ LIFE, but no…. RiRi is too spoiled and bratty to even consider such a generous act of kindess. she’d rather make a nasty face and humiliate the kid who was trying to be like her.

    • Erinn says:

OR, she doesn’t own the outfit. Isn’t half the stuff worn on the red carpet loaned by designers?
I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say she’s bratty to not even consider sending the dress.

    • eliza says:

Generally red carpet clothing is not owned but loaned to the star for an event.

    • chicagogurl says:

She could have sent her something. A video message….a sign t-shirt…..or magazine cover…..a pair of kicks…….something to show appreciation for someone idolizing her and working hard on an outfit to look like her. Could have bought her awesome fabric so she could make more clothes. budget or not – she should be flattered and humbled.

  8. Dani says:

How unsurprising. The girl actually looks very cute and did a good job replicating it.

  9. femputer says:

hang on, this girl was allowed to wear that to -prom-????

    • bondbabe says:

That’s exactly what popped into my mind! Holy Moses….

    • Malificent says:

That was my first thought. While it’s inexcusable for Rhianna to be unkind — where are this girl’s parents? A prom outfit for a 16-year-old girl that is cut to her navel has no business making it off of the sewing machine in the first place.

    • Ag says:

yeah, this will make me sound old, but times habe surely changed. my parents would have slapped me upside the head. (not literally.) haha

    • eliza says:

My thoughts exactly. What school allows that kind of low cut outfit at their prom?

    • Geekychick says:

OMG, where do you live? It’s prom and she’s 16. Have you seen what 16 year old kids wear these days? Aren’t we trying to not judge girls and women by what they wear? Isn’t that kinda “pearl-clutchy”? I mean, there is no b**bs falling out, no a** visible…so where is the problem? Why can’t a girl wear whatever she wants on her own body? What, a guy will see the dress and be unable to control himself? That’s his problem, not hers.

      • Latisse says:

Thank you. I was waiting for the morality pearl clutching brigade to come out of the woodwork. SMH.

She’s 16. 16 year olds have been pushing the envelope when it comes to dressing since the beginning of time.

LOL, I remember when I was 16, I wore a mini-skirt, tank top and uggs (y’all are nodding along but wait for it) IN THE SNOW.

She’s at that age when everyone has a minimum of brains and a maximum of moxie. Let her live. She’ll grow out of it like we all did.

      • Peppa says:

On the local news pages here in Baltimore, there have been a lot of people saying her outfit is too revealing for prom, but I honestly don’t see it. I have seen dresses here with huge amounts of cleavage showing and ones that expose a lot of skin (like an almost bare back). I think the outfit is kind of ugly, but the girl worked and made it herself based on Rihanna’s outfit.

      • Lunch Money says:

@Latisse: Exactly! You comment is spot on! When I was 16 my style icon was Bobbi Brown in the Cherry Pie video! I can remember strolling past my mom on the way out of the house in a skimpy bra top, acid washed denim mini skirt and L.A. Gears (and a BIG A$$ perm) and my mom asking me if I was going out to look for the rest of my outfit. My mom was smart enough not to forbid me to dress like that (it would just fuel rebellion) but did let me know she thought I looked trampy and not super rad & bitc*en. I look back on my teenage fashion choices and cringe.

There is so much pearl clutching over what young girls wear, how about the boys with the pants falling down or the even more ridiculous diaper pants? Both genders look silly. And Latisse is correct, we all did it in some form at that age and teenagers are still doing it today. They’ll grow out of it into uptight old fogies like we are now.

      • Latisse says:

LOL @LunchMoney, my mom would also see me, shake her head, but was wise enough to let me go make a fool of myself outside the house and learn from experience, which I did.

She’s just experimenting with her sexuality/attractiveness, she’s just out of the awkward looks phase and wants to show the world that she has arrived. LOL. I definitely was like that at 16.

I wanted to be like: world, look at me, I’m sexy! But obviously now I look back at those pictures and cringe-laugh, I was the furthest thing from sexy, I was fully ridiculous.

But it’s ok. I had fun and I’m happy that I got to experience that ridiculous stage of my life in its entirety.

    • Peppa says:

This happened here in Baltimore. It was a “Hollywood” themed prom and the students were encouraged to dress like their favorite celebrity. I have seen A LOT worse prom dresses around here to be honest.

    • Stephanie says:

It was a Hollywood themed prom. They were supposed to be dressed as famous ppl

    • doloreschurch says:

I happened across prom night a couple of years ago at San Francisco’s Bucca di Beppo. It was my friend’s 10 year old dter’s bday and she wanted to go there. Holy smokes. It was better than tv. The dresses were cute. It’s the first grown up dress these girls wear and they are so proud of that. Sure some of them were cleavage friendly. But with their bad posture and their teenage awkwardness, they were just young kids dressing up. (except for the exceptions:) And it was early in the evening, so they hadn’t tapped into their peach schnapps.
What cracked me up was using the restroom and watching all of these young, bridge and tunnel girls put in their grills. Oh man. They will cringe at those pics in 10 years.

  10. Peanut says:

Yeah my first instinct was that the frowny face was about the meme and not the girl’s outfit. Also, it does look remarkably similar to the wutang logo so… I’m not sure why that’s an insult really.

  11. Hissyfit says:

That’s rude considering she was probably the fashion inspiration for the outfit but it’s RiRi, she’s known to be a rude btch.

  12. ashley says:

Y’ll don’t know shit! That girl was happy that rih posted about her,i was on twitter while it was happening. “Black twitter” was making fun of her not rih. Y’ll can go to her twitter page to see the evidence, she’s a chris brown fan,not rihanna’s. Even yesterday her family admitted to slandering rih’s name, but that won’t be posted smh! Get your 15 mins of fame, karma will get ur ass just wait on it.

  13. lower-case deb says:

my first thought she was doing a frowny face because she did not approve of the meme’s bad message. but it’s a smiley face (in this case a frowny face) is a vague thing and can be read any other way.

and the wutang one.. maybe riri wanted to say that wutang is cool so the girl gets “the cool”, so there shouldn’t be an excuse to feel bad about it. but then again, similar to the above frowny face, it’s a vague one.

for someone who has been bullied a vague message that can be read either way is not helpful.

in this case, if riri wants to show support she should make a post that is not vague but clearly supportive. like praising how Awesome the whole ensemble looks, or saying you rock girl! riri stamp of approval! or something that is 100% positive and 0% vague. like spelling out what you really mean, for instance.

sometimes a direct way is the best way, even though it’s not hip or artsy.

  14. Mindy says:

Talk about bullying – why would kids stop when their idols do it all the time. I really wish this girl had no fans – she really needs to go away.

  15. mkyarwood says:

I think we know she’s incredibly self absorbed. It would have been great if she’d given some props to Alexis for MAKING HER OWN outfit rather than wearing the same ol prom dress. Whatever, RiRi. So over you.

  16. Sassy says:

Totally not a RiRi fan AT ALL, but I’m not taking this as a slur to the young girl. I thought the frown face tweet was to mean that Rihanna was sad that people were making fun of the girl. The second tweet “she gets it” meaning the teen girl gets that people have been mocking her and it’s enough already, stop…. that’s my take on it. If Rihanna was the one to CREATE the side by side photos, then yes, that would be her mocking the young girl.

    • blue marie says:

That’s how I took it too. It’s hard to tell intent from a tweet, but I don’t automatically think it’s Rhianna making fun of the girl. I would have to see more I think.

    • OhDear says:

Same, I think she’s actually trying to defend her.

    • Adrien says:

She tweeted a very mean slur to the girl. A “thot” something.

  17. Kiddo says:

For me the links above just go to the twitter account and I think I’d have to hunt for photos.
I don’t understand any of this.

  18. wow says:

It looks horrible on the girl and it looks horrible on Rhianna also.

  19. TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

THe egotism and self-absorption increase in direct proportion to lack of talent; she doesn’t write or arrange any of her music, she sings live with enhancements like a chicken is being strangled in her throat, she has no interest in music other than as a paycheck – so sure she’s trash and worth laying into, Give me the great live bands of the 60s-70s vastly more musical talent than this stupid twit, and they genuinely had an interest in music – the main reason I have no use for riri and pop stars of today – they are just the face of a product.

    • Dawn says:

This. I am so tired of making millionaires and big stars out of folks who simply use auto tune to make them seem more talented than they really are. What happened to being able to sing in key without equipment to alter your voice?

  20. Renee28 says:

I didn’t read it as Rhianna mocking her. Doing interviews is drawing more attention to something that would have died down on its own.

    • Jeanette says:

I didnt either! I kind of feel like she could have been displeased with the meme and ppl making fun, not the girl herself. And then the other..whats offensive about that??

  21. Lady says:

I would give her the benefit of the doubt if it were any other celebrity, but this isn’t the first time Rihanna has thrown shade on twitter. If she was defending her, she would have defended her. She was clearly mocking her, the second comment is sarcastic. No, she didn’t mean to look like the Wu-Tang symbol. So, what’s to get?

  22. Sayrah says:

I’m going to try to ignore the shade at her fan and just appreciate what she did for that charity. The extremes between the two actions are difficult to comprehend.

    • Lia says:

He behavior seems to swing to extremes a lot.

    • Dame Snarkweek says:

Not really. The camera incident was in realtime in an environment full of photographers/media outlets and involving a member of the police force. PR gold. The other situation was in the fan twitterverse and involved a young girl of no media consequence who was already being mocked by others. A stilletto kick to someone who was already down, imho.

      • PennyLane says:

        Exactly this.

“Kiss up, kick down” is some people’s motto. Loathesome people, that is.

    • Dame Snarkweek says:

Was responding to OP, not Lia. Ita with this.

  23. Lia says:

“or just Ri-Ri” ? So she is always a total, self-indulgent a$$? Is it possible she was embarrassed for the girl in the picture? It does look really bad.

  24. Pandy says:

Her 15 minutes will be over soon enough. I doubt she’s talented enough to maintain a lifetime of working. She has big name recognition, but not sure about the rest. Spend yiour $$ on your clothes and holidays. See you on reality TV Rihanna.

    • FingerBinger says:

IDK I think she still has a few more years. Rihanna isn’t the best singer in the world, but she does interest people.

    • Sagal says:

Paddy, Rihanna has been a successful recording artist since 2005. It’s been nearly a decade of success. Please don’t let your delusion cloud your judgment. She’s a star, not a 15 minute reality show wannabe. I’ll admit I used to think she was a terrible live performer, because she was. But if you watch her recent TV performances at the Grammys or at Victoria’s Secret fashion show, she’s improved & she sounds fantastic now. Let the hate go & acknowledge her hard work & success. Just for a minute.

      • Lady says:

She has improved, but I still hear better singers at karaoke.

      • Pandy says:

I don’t hate her, I honestly don’t know her music – pop is not my cup of tea. She just seems self absorbed and narcicisstic and famous for lots of pix of her strutting around in designer clothes. That doesn’t last forever. Pia Mia is the new young thing who will take over her crown. It’s the cycle of celebrity life.

  25. Lisa says:

    Oh, she’s just being RiRi.

  26. Lunch Money says:

I read about this yesterday on yahoo. This was a Hollywood themed prom, held in a classic theater with a red carpet. This young lady didn’t want to do the traditional starlet gown & was a huge fan of Rhianna so she had a copy made of the green pantsuit. This a really unflattering photo and I wish this post included another picture because this was a good reproduction. Her schoolmates thought she rocked it. The “bat” photo was posted to her Instagram and the hate started WHILE SHE WAS AT HER PROM! Then MISS RIRI jumped on the hate wagon with her own tweet and retweeted the Wu-Tang post. I loved this young girls response to Rhianna which was something to the effect of “you’re a grown woman don’t you have anything better to do than pick on a teenager at her prom?” At 16-17 this girl has more sense and class than Rhianna ever will.

Although I’m personally not a fan of the plunging neckline at least everything else was covered. My son’s prom was last weekend and compared to the sl***y sparkley princess Barbie or belly dancer dresses that every girl was wearing this ensemble seems modest. I give her props for her individually. It takes confidence to be different, especially in high school.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…Rhianna is an ignorant cow.

    • Melissa says:

+1 the girl looked really good in it when posed normally

      • Lunch Money says:

See the Blake Lively post. The prom girls were dressed like that but with more cut outs in the gowns. I think the theme of his prom was sparkly, frosty, glittery hoochie-poo.

  27. eliza says:

My only comments are why did the prom girl choose such an unflattering photo of herself to post AND WHAT school allows that kind of low cut outfit at their HIGH SCHOOL PROM?

  28. Stacey says:

She looks like a straight up CRACK head with what she wears to basketball games. She’s disgusting and so is her behavior

  29. MSat says:

I think the outfit is wretched on both Rihanna and her poor fan – and if that makes me an Internet bully, I’m at peace with it.

    • ORLY says:

      I agree.
Rihanna got away with it because she’s an entertainer. They get away with wearing ridiculous outfits that the lay-person show never attempt to imitate.

  30. lucy2 says:

It’s hard to tell intent from such a vague tweet, but I feel like if she wanted to defend her, she could have said something like “And we’re both awesome” or something along those lines.

    • John says:

I think the frowny-face emoticon pretty much makes her intent clear.

      • lucy2 says:

But as others have said here, it could be directed at the mean-spirited meme in general. Or the girl herself, who knows.

      • John says:

Read the numerous follow-up Tweets- there is no misunderstanding her meaning.

  31. Courtney says:

I would be horrified if someone I idolized poked fun at me on the Internet. I know teenagers shouldn’t idolize celebrities, but they do. I did at that age and I’m sure many others did as well. I really don’t understand Rihanna’s behavior. She didn’t even think about the girl’s feelings. That’s just wrong.

    • John says:

I wrote a six page fan letter to Elizabeth Taylor when I was a kid– found her home address, since she was married to a Senator at the time– and she wrote me back a sweet, full-page reply on her personal stationery that even referenced/responded to things I’d mentioned in my letter.
THAT’S how a true star behaves.
This chick is a waste of everything.

      • Tiffany :) says:

        Wow, that is amazing!

      • That’s not the first story I’ve heard of Elizabeth Taylor being gracious to someone she didn’t know. No one’s perfect, but she seems to have known how to be kind to people. That’s all too rare, celebrity or real-world.

  32. LadyS says:

Why are we even discussing Rihanna’s bitchiness? Nothing new to see here, folks.

  33. kimber says:

Not sure why anybody would be shocked at Rhianna’ s attitude. She’s a beautiful, cocky, arrogant person with a great voice.

  34. Gorgonia says:

well, nothing new under the sun, Rihanna is not exactly famous to be a classy, humble, kind artist … The sad thing is this kind of people have always fans who idolize them …

  35. OriginalCrystal says:

I mean, I said it yesterday. I think Riri is absolutely stunning but she has a stank attitude. I don’t even see where she dissed this girl it was mostly black twitter imo.
This girl is going to age like Bridget Bardot with that attitude. I hope she grows up.

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

“I don’t even see where she dissed this girl it was mostly black twitter imo.” – OriginalCrystal

      Here you go. Fixed it.

“When Alexis Carter tweeted a photo of her low-cut green dress with wings, it quickly spawned the hashtag #PromBat, and Twitter united to Photoshop the hell out of her original post. And then Rihanna herself made fun of the dress.

[Rihanna] spent the evening hanging out on the #PromBat hashtag, retweeting her favorite jokes about her teenage fan. (For the record, “The Dark Thot Rises” probably won.)” – https://twitter.com/rihanna/status/464624525444120576

“I started crying at first, and when it went viral I was so stressed out that I didn’t want to go to school,” Alexis says. “When Rihanna posted that photo it made it 10 times worse. The whole reason I wore [the jumpsuit] was because I love her. She was my motivation, and I was so shocked. She had to really think about it to make and post a picture about it. That’s overboard and tells me a lot about her. She’s nasty, and she really desecrated my name.” The teen’s question for the singer: “You’re a grown woman — why would you be doing that? You’re supposed to uplift them, not put them down.” – https://shine.yahoo.com/fashion/rihanna-cyberbullies-teen-over–prombat-outfit-190727487.html

      • ORLY says:

Sloan – the girl was enjoying the attention (at first?). She even tweeted that they should keep at it because she was “getting lots of followers”. A quick search of her twitter handle; lexxy_charms shows she was giving the appearance of not caring. I’m surprised to read she’s giving interviews about how hurt she was.
Her twitter is locked now but there are still tweets available. Maybe she was putting on a brave face.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

Yeah, ORLY. Alexa was really happy at the prom, but when she learned of the twitter blowup she tried to not let the hate ruin her night. Then when she her saw her idol pile on, she was devastated.

The takeaway I’m getting is that Alexa Carter is and strong and resourceful young woman who is not going to take being bullied lying down! Ms. Carter is a role model to young people everywhere to not take any Cyber Shit. #PromHeroine

      • OriginalCrystal says:

Oh. I get it now. It must be horrible to have your fave laugh at you when you’re the reason they have money in their pockets. Twitter is a blessing and a curse tbh. It’s put me off so many celebs but it also shows people’s true colours.
Alexa is a pretty girl and rocked the outfit. I hope she had a good time at least.
Rih is a mess. I dunno why I root for her when she constantly shows herself up like this on social media. She’s such a sweetheart in real life though. Any time I’ve met her she’s been pretty silly, but harmless overall. I just chalked it up to her being a young girl with a lot of money having a good time.
Guess I was wrong, oh well. Plenty of other celebs out there who appreciate their fans.

  36. John says:

Useless, criminal-loving, entitled b*tch. She’s pretty enough, I suppose, but is only moderately talented, bares way too much to make up for her inadequacies, has essentially supported violence against women with her post-beatdown behaviour (including new tats that support “thug life”), and now feels the need to publicly humiliate a 16 year old representative of her fan base who obviously adored her in order to build up her own bottomless ego.
I hope she falls into obscurity very, very soon; she’s nothing more than an attention-seeking loser and a horrible, horrible person. Giving her signature and a tax-deductible donation– $25K is a drop in the bucket for her– is not indicative of her character, but this petty, cruel act is.
This skank makes Miley look like a good role model.

PS Rihanna– you looked dreadful in your version of the outfit.

  37. Emily C. says:

Bullying a 16-year old girl is just plain pathetic. It’s cowardly. And it’s epidemic online. Harassing teenage girls is apparently The Thing To Do. Very sick.

  38. Mabs says:

    Shameful.

  39. Marianne says:

Definitely rude. I don’t care if you think she looks dumb in it, she did it because admires you. Have some compassion for once. You don’t have to say she looks awesome if you don’t believe it. But it wouldn’t have been that hard to tell people to leave the poor girl alone.

  40. Jaded says:

Drake, you’re well rid of that twat, you’re too good for her. Bullying behaviour like that, ESPECIALLY from a music celebrity who has huge influence over young kids, is absolutely unacceptable. Period.

She needs to get her head out of her arse and grow up.

  41. Aly says:

I’m not even remotely surprised. Rihanna has always been low class. She’s a beautiful woman but she’s taken to trying to dress as ridiculous and provocative as possible (like lady gaga) to stay relevant. Difference is lady gaga treats her fans with respect.

  42. tick says:

i actually think the young lady’s outfit was just as ugly as rihanna’s, the outfits look exactlly the same. What an effing bitch.

  43. Deedee says:

Well, RiRi, it didn’t look any better on you.

  44. Monksolo says:

I think the bigger problem is that people idolize pop stars so much that they give a damn what their opinion is about anything.

  45. Jennifer says:

First, I think both outfits were ugly. Just awful. But- to each their own, can I just say if you’re going to wear some funky pantsuit, do NOT pose with your legs apart like that. Every time I see that pic I have to do a double take and it just freaks me out.

Rihanna makes dumb choices. Exhibit A- Chris Brown. This was a dumb choice, and she is too focused on herself to give a flying crap about anyone else.

Side note- since when can you get away with showing that much cleavage at prom???

  46. Jaquebelle says:

To me Rihanna is the equivalent of a bottom feeder. Her beauty and questionable talent is greatly diminished by her lifestyle and treatment of her fans. The issue is NOT the style of dress as much as the cruel response to this. I would not have allowed my sixteen year old daughter to wear such a provocative dress, but every sixteen year old has experienced fashion mishaps. How quickly we forget folks!!! Thrilled the internet was not around while I was growing up lol. Meanwhile Rihanna could have been decent. Sad, was that her best response should have been no response. Nothing. Rihanna was certainly allowed not to like the copy of her original. Hilarious considering Rihanna has access to some of the best stylists, designers, and beauty artists on the planet, yet even she has stepped outside looking dollar store-ish. The bottom line is that there is no artist alive who is so beautiful and talented, that would justify rude treatment of their fan base. A total mean girl move and those questioning her mean intentions might wanna rethink how they treat people in their own lives, because this was rude and drenched in malice, especially calling a sixteen year old out of her name. And why should Rihanna be offended by Chris Brown. The same man whom she opened her legs to after he beat her senseless. Total bottom feeder.

  47. Lemonist says:

This tells me an awful lot about her fan base as well. If you condone your fans attacking one another, it gives them license to repeat this behavior. Some people get off on celebrities encouraging them to do immoral things as if it somehow justifies it. We need to change that kind of thinking. This American Royalty crap needs to end.

  48. Lady says:

Irresponsible reporting. That wasn’t even her real page. A REAL journalist would put an update with the info that the IG page that posted the picture was not a Rihanna IG page. Lol people are so quick to believe bad things just so they have a reason to feel superior. News flash, putting another person down won’t elevate your life.
