Pedro Pascal already booked a new gig, a Netflix series about Pablo Escobar

I should have been paying attention back in March – that’s when these photos of Pedro Pascal were taken in Vancouver (the jeans & plaid jacket pics). But I guess Game of Thrones wasn’t on yet and I hadn’t grown suddenly and deeply infatuated with all things Pedro Pascal, so it didn’t mean anything to me that he was filming a pilot in Vancouver in March. I could have saved myself a lot of heartache if I knew going into this relationship that he was only going to last one season of Game of Thrones. SOB!

But it’s not all bad news. Not at all. Pedro Pascal quickly became a fan-favorite in one of the biggest pop-culture phenomenon shows of the last 20 years. GoT is a show full of fan favorites, so for Pascal to come in, charm everyone and then violently exit… well, a star is born. I would think that Pedro is on the top of a lot TV casting directors’ lists these days, and maybe even some film producers. But back to that pilot he filmed in Vancouver in March… it got picked up!

Hot off of his role on HBO’s Game Of Thrones, Pedro Pascal has been set to star opposite Wagner Moura on Netflix‘s drama series Narcos. Written by Chris Brancato and directed by Jose Padilha, Narcos is the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It centers on notorious Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar (Moura) and Javier Pena (Pascal), a Mexican DEA agent sent to Colombia on a U.S. mission to capture and ultimately kill him. Produced by Gaumont and executive produced by Padilha and Eric Newman, Narcos will premiere on Netflix in 2015.

[From Deadline]

This sounds like an interesting TV show concept. But surely an Chilean-American actor can find roles that don’t involve the drug trade, amirite? Still, the story of Pablo Escobar is fascinating, and if his name had been Michael D’Amato or Vito Caprese, I’m sure he would have already inspired 20 major movies. John Leguizamo has been trying to jump-start a bio-pic for a long, long time and he wants to play Escobar too. Will this Netflix show air before Leguizamo gets his financing? Huh.

Anyway, I thought you’d like to know. Our new crush already has a new job. He’ll be fine. And we’ll get to see him more of him in the coming years. Hopefully.

Yes someone introduce him to JLO. Happening.

    • Molly says:

why do you hate him so much? The only person JLO needs to be introduced to is the person in the mirror because she needs to figure herself out before dragging another man into her cyclone of drama

      • Nev says:

Yes I agree with you but still. Haha

      • AryaMartell says:

No he just needs to bang J.Lo a couple of times to “help” mend her broken heart. Besides, something tells me long term relationships are not Pedro’s style. I think the best way to describe Pedro is as a lover and not a fighter. From everything I’ve seen and heard he gets around quite well and has been attached to many ladies in recent months and I really think has banged them all.

Seriously go back and find an interview he did with Lena Heady, those two totally banged. Then of you look at the latin american promotions he and Gwendolyn Christie (who I recall is married?) did for GoT they act like they’ve banged and then last week he was out and about with Sarah Paulson. So I seriously think he gets around so why shouldn’t he get around to J.Lo for a week? Besides if you look at some past photos (risk of losing crush) circa 2006, he seriously had the Skeletor thing going on that J.Lo likes. He was not always this good looking, I’m glad he’s bulked up.

    • paola says:

I actually want JLo to hook up with David Gandy.
That music video is a masterpiece. They’re scorching hot together. Go get it girl on the behalf of all of us!!

    • CK says:

I’m just going to throw out 2 words to prove how bad introducing Pedro to JLo would be. Marc Anthony.

  2. Shijel says:

Good. I enjoyed his performance on the show and he did an IAmA on Reddit recently – came across as grounded, enthusiastic and hilarious, and apparently everyone on the set loved him and he loved everyone right back. Decently talented, too. I’m glad when such people manage to book more jobs, good for them.

  3. Lilacflowers says:

Pedro Pascal as Pablo Escobar? YES!

    • AryaMartell says:

Nope. He’s gonna play the undercover DEA agent.

    • mia girl says:

I’m so glad he’s not playing Escobar. Escobar was gross in real life so the idea of being attracted to him in a retelling of his story was freaking me out. Weird huh?

But I am thrilled to know I am free to lust over Pedro and his DEA character with no guilt.

  4. GlimmerBunny says:

Yay!! I still hope he’ll come back to GoT and play Doran Martell (Oberyn’s older brother) but this is good news too, and I’m absolutely gonna check it out when it airs.

  5. Arch says:

    Just. Too. Beautiful.

    • kri says:

I am so glad for him. He is on my list of men I want for Naughty Stuff Shenanigans. I love that craggy yet sweet face. He has such merry eyes! Adoring him.

  6. Sixer says:

Good. I’m going all South American on my list lately. My other new crush is Santiago Cabrera.

  7. Elisabeth says:

    he is so delicious

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      “I will be your champion”….Swoon

      • mayamae says:

Good Lord Yes! I found him incredibly hot on the show. I don’t how much was the accent, and how much was the character’s similarity to Inigo Montoya. But a lot of it was how Pedro carried himself and the lovely dress he wore.

    • Decloo says:

I’m seeing him LIVE on stage on wednesday night in Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing!’
Hoping for good seats so I can bask in his beauty.

  8. mom2two says:

I can’t wait to see this series. The Pablo Escobar story is a fascinating one and I am sure Pedro will do well in the part he’s playing.

ETA: Keep him far, far away from J Lo. I think he is either dating Lily Rabe or Lena Headley. Not sure though.

    • Lori says:

I thought they were calling Sarah Paulson his girlfriend.

    • AryaMartell says:

Or all of the above? I think he loves the ladies and uses his magical man-bits to heal their woes. But something tells me that fidelity is not Pedro’s style. I don’t think he’s a douche about it and is honest about that with others but I think he just enjoys the sample platter. Mind you, that’s speculation on my end. Maybe he just did an amazing job playing the Red Viper and has a ton of female friends who get touchy feely.

  9. Molly says:

Yay more Pedro Pascal in my life. I’d be excited to watch this.

  10. Lucy says:

He gives me Renner vibes, which is not a bad thing at all. Also, love to see a Chilean brother making it this big!!!

    • kri says:

Kinda like Renner and the “Srenity” version of Nathan Fillion made a baby. It’s those sparkling yes, I can’tstophelp!

  11. Becks says:

Thank you Kaiser for giving us more Pedro!
    🙂

  12. Intro Outro says:

This guy is gorgeous. I loved his presence in GoT, and I wish him a great career – which I’ll follow from now on with a huge pleasure 😉

  13. Good Lord–he is FINE.
    Especially when he speaks Spanish.
And I have Netflix, so it’s all good.

    * Leaves to go stalk his twitter page*

  14. jammypants says:

    This man. Ooft.

  15. AryaMartell says:

So my fianceé who is the biggest GoT fan LOVES the character of the Red Viper. He’s read all the books but I cannot stand GRRM’S writing style so I read Game of Thrones and got halfway through Clash of Kings before I called it quits. But the Red Viper is his all time favourite character and he was pleased with the Pedro Pascal casting. Apparently a lot of the book fans were not pleased because they felt that the Martells and the Dornish people should be Indian or Middle Eastern instead of the Latin Mediterranean thing that they got going on. I wonder if they could get Antonio Banderas to play Dorian Martell. He’d be perfect.

I must say though that without the facial hair I am less into Pedro. He needs the Oberyn facial hair.

    • I thought I was the only one who hated GRRM’s writing style. I couldn’t get through the first book because of it. But I love watching his interviews, and hear him talking about the story though.

      • AryaMartell says:

GRRM just rambles on and on and on in his writing. He does that too in the interviews too. I just wish he’d get to the point.

    • Intro Outro says:

OMG I found my SISTAHS!!!! 😀 I heartily dislike GRRM’s style, too. Started reading GoT two times and had to give up because it simply fails to engage me =/ What a bummer, I really wanted to like those novels.

      • AryaMartell says:

I know!!!! The entire series could easily be condensed into a trilogy if he stopped rambling.

      • jammypants says:

His editor also doesn’t help. She just enables his already bloated writing.

      • Kali says:

I’m so happy I’m not the only one! I’ve TRIED so hard, honest to god, to get into the books but I just can’t do it. I just indulge my nerdery by getting all up in the fan wikis (the “a song of ice and fire” wiki is AMAZING) and I read relevant parts of the books online when big things happen. Feel free to flame me, book readers, but I genuinely believe that this might be an occasion where the show can be better than the books (although I’ll agree they’ve made some missteps this season – ie Cersei&Jamie sex scene).

  16. Jen34 says:

He is so hot. He seems like a nice guy, too.

  17. Aysla says:

I am in total awe and adoration of Pedro Pascal and would like to see him in everything, but I actually got excited more about Wagner Moura getting another gig! The last time I saw him in anything was that one sci-fi movie with Matt Damon, directed by the guy who did District 9.

Wagner Moura was in the awesomeness that is Elite Squad (Tropa de Elite) and its follow-up, Elite Squad: The Enemy Within. I highly recommend it to everyone, it’s completely intense and thrilling and you will all thank me. Please please watch it! And fall in love.

    • Kali says:

Completely agree with you re Elite Squad movies, they’re fantastic! I saw them at the film festivals here in New Zealand and I saw full grown dudes on the edge of their seats and with their hands over their mouths in some of the more intense scenes. Some of those early prison riot scenes at the beginning of the second movie are STILL stuck in my mind!!

  18. db says:

I’m totally shipping him and Lena Headey together

  19. Vilodemeanus says:

This actor is so talented, every producer in town must be rewriting parts to be able to cast him. I actually cried when he died, I was in shock because after Tyrion *peter dinklage* his character was a true standout on GoT’s, although the entire cast is brilliant. I can’t wait to see what he does next, if he chooses wisely we’ll all be seeing a lot of Pedro in the future.

  20. Lola says:

About the JLo comments… don’t wish the kid harm for peets sake!
About the show… it will be interesting to see their take, but “El Patron del Mal” was pretty good…
