Kate Winslet in Narciso Rodriguez at Prix de Diane Longines: Cruella de Vil fug?

Here are some photos of Kate Winslet and her husband Ned Rocknroll at the Prix de Diane Longines 2014 in Chantilly, France yesterday. Considering how few celebrities were at this event, I suspect it was a paid gig for Winslet – a nice check, plus a generous hotel suite for Kate and Ned. Not bad for a few hours of “work” watching… horse racing, I guess.

For the event, Kate wore this absolutely terrible ensemble. I think she was aiming for simply, clean minimalism, which would have been fine except that nothing worked. The dress is Narciso Rodriguez Resort 2014 – this looks like a white t-shirt underneath a black tube dress. That’s probably how it’s supposed to look, like a super-chic version. But it just looks cheap. Then Kate went with this Philip Treacy hat that, I’m sorry, makes her look like Cruella de Vil.

As for Ned… I just don’t know. The last time she spoke about him, back in May, she tried to “hit back” at people who are judgmental about his name. Except that she didn’t even like the Rocknroll name enough to give it to their child, Bear Blaze Winslet (the only one of her children without their father’s name). But Kate did recently tell The Mail that Ned is “absolutely incredible and he looks after all of us.” Ned does the school run with the children. So… he’s a bit like Casper Smart, I think.

    She looks ridiculous.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Agreed. And Ned RockN’Roll is an ass clown.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Would you ever date someone who changed their name to RockNRoll? I mean, that’s all I would hear, and I’d say, really? Bye.

    • paola says:

Yes but she looks gorgeous as she grows older!!! 10 or so years ago people used to tell me i looked like Kate Winslet (for some weird reason though because we’re nothing alike) but really wished my bank account looked like hers!

      • kri says:

I love her face. The rest of this is simply dreadful, but her butler seems like a nice guy.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yes, she’s a very pretty woman, I just think that hat is idiotic.

  2. tinyfencer says:

I LOVE the hat. And Ned actually cleans up well.

    • L says:

I love the hat to-just not with that dress. The fact that the hat is black and ivory, and the dress is black and stark white is one of my biggest pet peeves.

      • kimber says:

Love the hat! she just didn’t pull it off and agree that it didnt match the dress. black and white doesn’t look good on everyone-which is cool bc they’re so boring and easy.

  3. Liz says:

I think the dress is ok, boring but ok. The hat is terribly ugly.

  4. Cecilia says:

I don’t think she looks ridiculous or anything. Her outfit is too basic to be horrible. It is just very simple. Kate looks happy & healthy.

  5. Jen2 says:

How do you even stand next to someone in a hat like that and not get your eye poked out!! Guess you always have to stand to her right to avoid eye damage. I like the occasional “out there” spectator, but that one is ugly AND dangerous.

  6. PunkyMomma says:

Looks like an expensive hat with a cheap, ill fitting dress.

  7. Jac says:

The dress is unremarkable and too simple for that hat. But not terrible.

  8. Mrs. Lecter says:

Sure, he’s like a ridiculously rich Casper smart? … To be honest I don’t know what he does or if he has any of his daddy’s money but I’d be surprised if he didn’t.

Also… I like the dress, but I’d set the hat on fire.

  9. DogMom says:

Her feet look painfully shoved into those shoes.

  10. Ginger says:

That dress does not suit her figure. I just don’t think it’s flattering. The hat would have been better suited to a formal dress. I’m sorry, her husband looks really dorky here. I just can’t sign on to them as a couple.

  11. Jen34 says:

Look at those feet! I used to like her when she was younger. She was like a breath of fresh air, but now she is borderline insufferable

  12. Sorella says:

That type of hat is appropriate for that event and the British love their fascinators/hats. However, her overall look, looks very matronly here. Her kept husband (what does he DO?) looks young here, yet she looks like his older sister or kinda motherly standing next to him.

I think woman like Kate (and JLO and Christina and Jessica Simpson) marry “lesser-than” men in income, fame, ect. so the attention is always on them and they can control them. Hard to control a dude when he has his own money and thing happening.

    • Lee says:

Kate has never been a famewhore attention seeker. Maybe she just fell in love with this dude.

  13. jonB says:

    Horrible

  14. Sayrah says:

I must need my glasses. I thought she was Megan Fox in that first picture.

  15. lucy2 says:

The dress is pretty boring, but the hat is so bonkers I almost like it. Almost.
I wouldn’t call him a Casper Smart – he does have a career of his own and is not dependent on her. I’d imagine he takes the kids to school on the way to his work.

  16. Arbelia says:

    Not bad to me.
She attented the event as the egerie of Longines -who organises the race, it ´ s a business thing. Each year they have one of their egerie attending the event , precedent years it ws Simon Baker.
And of course all women have to wear a hat t this event…

  17. KC says:

She’s always wearing clothes two sizes too small for her.

  18. dzeco says:

If you don’t like Kate Winslet, watch the fake Kim Kardashian all the time! Thanks. Leave Kate alone.

  19. kc says:

She is okay. It is just that minimalist design is not is not for fat ppl
