Kanye West went on a lengthy Yeezus-style rant in London & everybody booed

wenn21521676

This ^^ is a photo of Kanye West performing at the Verizon festival in London over the weekend. He stepped in at the last minute, replacing Drake who apparently is pretty sick and his doctor ordered him to cancel all of his appearances. So the Yeezus tour came to London. And I’m sorry, English crumpets. As an American, I’ve gotten used to Yeezington’s rants and ravings and his general nutburger vibe. I’ve not only gotten used to, I kind of enjoy it. Kanye has lots of opinions about lots of different things, and while he’s not always wrong, he tends to rub everyone the wrong way because he’s such an egotistical monster, a hypocrite and a label-whore. Throughout his US tour, Kanye has been taking “time outs” during the stage show to go off on 20-minute-long rants about… shoes, the art of genius, and how great he is. And he brought that flavor to the Verizon festival. And the English people were NOT having it.

Kanye West was booed by festival-goers on Friday night after he launched into an extraordinary ’20-minute rant’ in the middle of his Wireless set. The Yeezus rapper caused confusion when he paused his performance at the London music event, held at Finsbury Park, to preach to the crowd about discrimination within the fashion industry.

Wearing a bejewelled mask over his face, Kanye, 37, told the audience: ‘I’m not going to mention any names but… Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don’t discriminate against me ‘cos I’m a black man making music. F**k saving face and what it’s supposed to mean, it’s about living my dream.’

And it would seem the move didn’t go down too well with the crowd, with audience members reportedly deserting the al fresco gig in droves. One festival-goer told MailOnline: ‘He was laying into the ‘machine’ and ranting about the public’s perception of him. Hundreds of people left the park early because they were so bored of his long rant. There was serious booing towards the end of the speech, as people got so fed up and just wanted to hear him perform.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Not only did they boo him, some of them were shouting “we want Drake!” Pissy English people were ranting about it on Twitter too. “Sanctimonious prat” was used often. The c-word was dropped. It’s all pretty much on point. I’m including one Vine of the booing, plus video of the whole performance of “Runaway” with most of the rant. Classic Yeezington. What sucks is that “Runaway” is one of his best songs and he just f—ks it up so he can rant about stupid BS.

I’ve always loved and admired Great Britain, but never more so than this moment. GB for EVA!

    • Nigel says:

+1! So sick of this pompous overpaid ass

      • Petee says:

Me too.He married a gigantic ass and became a bigger ass then he already was.I didn’t think it was possible but it’s true. The curse of the kardashians carries on.

      • Faye says:

@Petee -Ass in both the literal and figurative senses.

    • word says:

I wish those college kids he is teaching would boo him too.

  2. Sixer says:

Y’see, we have people who do COOL rants, like Rusty and Morrisey.

Mind you, we also have Jessie J, so I won’t get too excited.

    • Godwina says:

If you’re going to rant and get booed while assuming a Jesus poster, at least be Klaus Kinski, for pity’s sake.

Very glad I was at Lady Gaga last night , instead, who (typically) just kept telling people how much she loved them and how grateful she was with a delightful sprinkling of f-bombs, and played on.

      • Felice says:

        Did she read a letter?

      • Godwina says:

Yes, Felice, she did. Not sure if it was genuine or a plant, as I’d never seen her in concert before, but it was nice.

      • Godwina says:

        Poster = posture, oy.

      • Amanduh says:

Would you happen to have seen Ms. Gaga at Bluesfest, Godwina??!

      • Godwina says:

I did Amanduh! Were you there? 🙂

      • Amanduh says:

@Godwina: no, unfortunately I was not. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform on her Monster Ball tour in Montreal a few years ago and she blew my mind. Take away all the costumes and gimmicks and the Lady can sing. Not the biggest fan, but I saw her fall on her @ss twice and not miss a beat. Pretty incredible.
I just wanted to say hi to a fellow Ottawaian…or at least someone who has visited 🙂
It was gorgeous out last night, too!!! How was she?!

      • astra says:

Wasn’t Klaus Kinski some kind of pedophile and serious pervert? I think I heard that about him, but I really don’t know much other than he was the father of Natassja (sp), right? Kanye is annoying but I don’t think he’s as bad as that guy!

    • Godwina says:

(Sorry, Sixer, my comment was meant to below everyone’s, not yours.)

    • Mata says:

A Kanye/Morrisey rant off might actually be something I’d pay to see.

      • mimif says:

Ha! The earth would tilt on it’s axis.

      • Sixer says:

I went to see Linton Kwesi Johnson a few months back. Yeezington would last nano seconds paired with him. And he’s in his sixties. The nice thing was how many kids were there.

(Not that a poem is a rant, but you know what I mean.)

      • Artemis says:

As if Morrisey would have a chance to finish his rant though: “Yo Steven imma let you finish but…”

      • Chris says:

        Sixer hi
Been reliving summer in London ’69 this wknd, and your LKJ comment reminds me of another great year in music, 1980. Excellent work! And as you suggest, KW would prob run a mile.

      • Sixer says:

I was just a wee thing in 1980, Chris, but LKJ is one of my all-time idols. The difference between him and Yeezus (quite aside from artistry) is that he’d cringe at being called an idol. He doesn’t perform much now, but keep an eye out for PEN events.

  3. Nev says:

    Always genius. Still.

  4. grabbyhands says:

Apparently he did it again last night too.

As much of an extra pretentious dick he’s been the last couple of years, he’s pretty much always been this cray cray, just without as much of a stage to broadcast it from, so if you go to his show and are surprised that he wastes 15 or 20 minutes of it with an epic whine about something, then I would assume that you have been living under a rock.

As long as people continue to go to his shows and grant him time in print and on air, he will never stop. Honestly, I think even if that stopped he would just whine about being persecuted even more.

    • kri says:

@Artemis&@grabbyhands you are both right. He was whacked way before he fell into the Vag of Doom, but it does seem like he has gotten even worse. His music is now (in my opinion) suffering by taking a back seat to these stupid, meaningless rants, And he’s calling out Gucci, FFS, not Boko Haram or something that matters. It’s always about him.

  5. Dawn says:

He got what he deserves. No one goes to a concert to be lectured by a millionaire who is basically throwing a fit because the poor baby is NOT getting what he wants when he wants it. He is a spoiled man-child who is like that screaming child you hear in Target demanding that toy. Sooner or later someone is going to give him something to scream about. This guy is just standing closer and closer to the edge and he is killing his career which is fine by me. What a big cry baby.

    • Artemis says:

No one goes to a concert to be lectured by a millionaire who is basically throwing a fit because the poor baby is NOT getting what he wants when he wants it.

Except…they are. By now, his fans or general concert goers must have heard about his penchant for rants/speeches/lectures yet they keep on throwing money at him by attending his concerts! They still pay to see him and then get mad when he does what he ALWAYS does. People are dumb.

I’m a fan but I’ll NEVER pay to see Kanye because it’s a waste of time. I have 1 live cd and that’s the only live Kanye I will ever enjoy 🙂

      • Josephine says:

This was a festival, so there is no proof that anyone went to see him. There were lots of singers there.

      • Mia V. says:

People paid to see Drake, apparently.

      • Artemis says:

It’s not like they left when he came on. They started leaving and booing when he started one of his speeches again.

Given the fact that he is still a popular live act, I would assume that they had at least some expectations of being entertained by him even though some people might have been there for other artists.

      • Godwina says:

This particular crowd didn’t, though. Kanye subbed in last minute for Drake. They knew Drake. Well, or “knew,” in the case of celebs.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

You go to a concert for music, not for twenty minute irrational rants. I’m sure even his most ardent fans would prefer twenty minutes of music at his concert, that’s an entire song. Fans aren’t there to hear him whine but he doesn’t give a crap about anybody but himself so he wastes everyones time with his petty complaints. It’s childish, thoughtless and tiresome.

    • Nicolette says:

Agree,, especially with the price of concert tickets being what they are. If people want to hear someone talk, that’s what seminars are for.

    • Amy says:

      Exactly! 100+

    • Lolo-ology says:

If some of those cdan blind reveals from the other day are to be believed, he is utterly broke and even had to borrow a few mil from Jay-z recently!

  6. OTHER RENEE says:

Is he completely unaware how irritating his rants are to the public or dies he just not care? I think he considers himself to be the second coming of Martin Luther King. Rousing orator inspiring social action. Yeah, as if…

    • Josephine says:

I think he’s just trolling. “Anything for Attention” is the mantra of too many celebs/singers/d-listers these days,

    • claire says:

His hard-core defenders will tell you that you aren’t smart enough to get it. That it’s performance art and all on purpose and part of his message. That he’s challenging you to appreciate and analyze art you don’t like and to challenge your ego. Go to Reddit and search Kanye and Bonnaroo. You’ll see what I mean.

      • OTHER RENEE says:

Guess my 3 college degrees and years of professorship in college wouldn’t mean anything to those hard core defenders! Cuz I must be too dumb to get it. 🙂

      • Faye says:

@Claire -This seems to be a popular trend in American political discussions and culture these days -if you don’t like or agree with something, it’s because you’re too stupid or unenlightened to “get” it. Such an arrogant and narrow view. It is entirely possible to dislike something not because you don’t get it, but because you *do.*

      • claire says:

@Faye: I agree. But this is what gets spouted off any time I see Kanye defenders. How unenlightened we are, etc. Listening to them is like listening to a brainwashed cult member.

  7. MrsBPitt says:

Words cannot express how much I detest this guy…

  8. peachcobblerby says:

It’s sad that due to his daftness his message about rascim in the fashion industry just got overlooked. His hubris is just as massive as anyone in Hollywood or entertainment business but the others have controlled and contrived images and some slip through like Kanye or Tom cruise.

    • MrsBPitt says:

Why is he ranting about race in a fashion industry that has made Jay Z…Sean “Diddy” Combs…and Michael Jordan, just to name a few African Americans who became pretty stinking rich in that industry. Maybe the reason Kanye can’t break in to the fashion biz is that NOBODY wants to work with his style of crazy…or maybe his ideas suck!!!!!!!! It is possible that sometimes its NOT about race, but about the specific person…

      • CandyKay says:

Or maybe nobody really likes leather jogging pants – supposedly his great innovation.

Kanye has had the opportunity to design a couple of collections, and they haven’t been impressive.

There have been some fantastic black male designers – back to Willi Smith of Williwear – whom people were happy to support because they liked the clothes.

I also don’t think he has a God-given right to design clothing just because he’s been successful in the music industry. There are thousands of smart design students out there being trained in the particulars of clothes design – fabrics, tailoring, fashion history. What about their big chance? What about fairness to them?

      • Bridget says:

You just named a whole 3 people, one of whom isn’t even in fashion, the othertwo who llicensed their names instead of creating a line of their own (and did it when they were already massively successful and had doors open for them) and their success is based on selling their ‘street’ aesthetic. Not exactly a great example for their being no racism in the fashion industry.

      • Eleonoy says:

Leather jogging pants. That say everything.

      • MrsBPitt says:

@ Bridget – I didn’t say there was NO racisim in the fashion industry…but Kanye is big enough that if the fashion industry thought they could make some money off of his ideas and name, they would work with him in a heartbeat! The color GREEN is the most important color to them!!!!!

      • Josephine says:

Problem with his rant is that he was offered opportunities, but he expected to have total control over all decisions and was annoyed that his artistic genius was not recognized. He expected to have all of the privileges of experienced and profitable designers and to start at the top.

This guy should not be a poster-child(brat) for any cause. I find his delusions make him unreliable, and I think people like him lie about absolutely everything with absolutely no conscious.

      • Artemis says:

But he doesn’t design high-end. His APC line is streetwear to, he has things like a basic white tee priced at 120 dollars. Wow, such moneygrabbing, much skills, so basic…

Crying at some people here pretending Kanye is Duro Olowu or B. Michael! Kanye belongs in the Diddy/Jay category.

EDIT: I agree with Josephine, people don’t seem to know the history behind Kanye and fashion. He thinks those houses should hand him the damn key. There is a lot of entitlement for a man whose main job is not designing.

    • Artemis says:

It doesn’t though. Naomi Campbell, Iman and Bethann Hardison made a succesful campaign of shaming the fashion industry. Many black models have spoken out about it too. Some brands were also praised for promoting diversity. They are not mocked or ignored because they are not only pointing fingers at others but also actively promoting diversity themselves in their business (Iman, Tom Ford and Campbell walk the walk for example).

Kanye weirdly enough, goes after brands like Nike et al. who employ black athletes to represent their brand. He also forgets that other artists like Jay Z are highly successful in fashion so it’s not like it’s impossible. Then again, he befriends the right people (Tom Ford who chooses his own models and is clearly pro-diversity!) while Kanye hobnobs with Tisci (Givenchy) one of the most racist brands. In fact Kanye and Kim loves a lot of brands that are called out for being racist.

Kanye has no business going after certain brands when a lot brands would love to work with him if he wasn’t such a douche who throws people under the bus for the smallest issues. Especially not when he himself wants to only fall into the good graces of ‘white brands’ ONLY while completely ignoring famous and up-and-coming black designers and black models.

      • Deb says:

I was about to say the same. Even Louis Vuitton collaborated with Pharrell at one point. I don’t think these labels have a problem with him because of his race. I think it’s because of his personality. He has zero self-awareness.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

I don’t think anyone denies racism, we all remember the Benetton campaign but Kanye is not in the fashion industry, he is in the music industry. If the fashion industry chooses not to do business with him and yet does business with plenty of other people in the music industry, of all backgrounds, it says more about Kanye than racism in the industry.

  9. Tracy says:

    Idiot.

  10. NewWester says:

At this rate Kayne is going to have a complete breakdown and North will be at the mercy of Kim and company. That poor child

    • lisa2 says:

Well really she is already. How much real time is Kanye spending with her or Kim for that matter.

    • Tracy says:

Well, she will be at the mercy of the nannies. Hopefully Kim hired competent and compassionate nannies.

  11. lisa2 says:

I hate to say it again..but it is that family..
I swear they consume and destroy every man that comes into contact with them. Kanye is becoming a joke and I don’t know how he is going to come back from it either.

I’m not a fan; my boyfriend is and he won’t buy his music right now. I use to feel for him right after he lose his mother. But he is showing what a complete nutter he is.

Kanye needs to understand when people pay that kind of money in a not so great economy to attend an event.. they want to hear music. Not your rants. Do that in a print interview or a TV interview. NOT at a concert about music.

Between him and Robin Thicke I’m just SMH

    • Aussie girl says:

Kanye will always be himself, I don’t think it’s got anything to do with the family regarding his rants. Trust me K family don’t help but no can control Kanyes mouth.

    • Tx says:

I wonder if he is desperately trying to make people like him again. Maybe he knows people don’t take Kim (and by extension him) seriosuly, so he feels the need to go on these rants to try and change that.

Or am I giving him too much credit for being self-aware?

    • Artemis says:

Kanye was always ‘nuts’. Amber Rose said he was a douche, the TSwift moment came before he was official with KK. He knew exactly what this family was and he wanted to get in for almost 10 years, I mean, it was KK who didn’t want him.

You can’t hold them accountable for the behaviour that Kanye displayed since the start of his career: his Live 8 in 2005 stunt; Bush doesn’t care about black people (neither does Kanye btw); his sneaker (Martin Luther King) stunt. All high-profile occasions that didn’t involve the K family.

It’s only because he became more and more famous that it became more obvious. Sometimes he talks sense but most of the time his ego obscures any kind of rationality.

    • Bridget says:

I don’t think it is *just* the family, because I think in general he’s just surrounded himself with people who have created a cloud of B.S. around him. He’s always had a bit of crazy, but its gotten out of control. The fashion people, PMK, Kim, I think they add to it because they’re people of utterly no substance, and I think with Kim he still wants to turn the narrative around on their relationship, because he’s got to know that she and he are laughingstock.

    • AryaMartell says:

I actually have it on good authority that Kanye was actually a pretty nice guy at one point but that after his accident his personality changed for the worse. He did recieve some massive head trauma from that accident and even died for two minutes. So I would blame that car accident of his in Chicago more than the Kardashians for Kanye being a nasty narcissistic douche.

    • Reece says:

I think he was always like this but his mom was the person that kept him tethered to the ground, so to speak. Now esp with KK and her family there’s just nothing or no one to say stop making a fool of yourself.

    • Godwina says:

AryaMartell I didn’t know Kanye suffered a serious head injury at some point. That truly could explain a lot of what appears to be delusional behaviour (well, that, combined with acquired situational narcissism, as someone pointed to above). I know several people who’ve experienced profound lifechanging head trauma and most are fully recovered, personality intact, but I have seen one case as well where the survivor is now a most unpleasant person. Maybe now I have some sympathy for Kanye.

      He’s still no Kinski, though.

    • Bridget says:

After his accident is when K anye’s career really took off, esp his own as a recording artist which could have also extensively influenced his cheaply attitude. Its not like he went 0 to uberdouche in one fell swoop – its been coming little by little for the last decade.

  12. msmercury says:

He is the lady gaga of rappers. No one goes to your shows to here your speeches! Play your music.

  13. Lahdidahbaby says:

Dammit, Kanye, you’re making it more & more embarrassing for me to go on defending you. It goes without saying that NOTHING can explain or excuse your abominable taste in women (o yeah, and FASHION), but sh*t, i’m so over these exhibitionist orgies you have onstage with yourself. People are there to hear yr music & watch the brilliant stage-spectacle you’ve created. SO STOPPIT ALREADY.

  14. JudyK says:

    Kanye, shutupshutupshutupshutupshutup.

  15. Country girl says:

This guy seriously needs a therapist.

    • Tiffany27 says:

That’s probably why he wears the mask. To fool himself into thinking he’s at the therapist and not a concert.

  16. RJ says:

To paraphrase a commenter on Gawker-‘oh the rich irony of a huge media famewhore troll who married THE biggest media famewhore troll whining about the travails of fame and being trolled’

  17. AryaMartell says:

I sincerely do believe that Kanye (along with Kim and some of the other current celebrities) are the reasons that you do not go overboard in telling your kids how special and unique they are. Kanye is not that great of a rapper. I would never put him in any of the top 20 best rappers of all time. I’ve always thought his rap skills were pretty terrible. But his over-inflated ego came from somewhere and something tells me his mum told him he was wonderful and special a bit too much. I mean of course she should have encouraged him to follow his dreams but I do feel she had a responsibility to keep him grounded as a child and I just don’t think that was happening. Let’s face it, he’s been flushing his career down the toilet since the death of his mum and more so since getting with Kim. What gets me the most is that he did this at a music festival where 1) you only have a certain amount of time on stage, so did he expect the next act to give up their time on stage so he could rant? How discourteous! 2)Music festivals are great places to make new fans and not lose them.

P.S. Is it just me or has Kanye gotten kind of fat in the past year? I find it surprising since he’s such a vain narcissist.

  18. Amy123 says:

This isn’t new. He went on these epic rants on several of his tour stops. He always gets booed. Five minutes is one thing but 20 minutes talking about nothing is ridiculous.

  19. Rusty machine says:

I’m willing to bet the message he got from this little incident, rather than “maybe I should stop doing this because I’m nuts”, is “wow, these people really don’t understand my greatness. I’m disappointed the British are so small minded.”

Don’t attack me, but I feel like he is the black man version of Goop.

    • AryaMartell says:

The name Kanye West and being empathetically self-aware do not go hand in hand. handAH

I 100% agree about him being the rapper version of Goop.

  20. Amanda says:

Is it really a “rant” when it has obviously become a scheduled, predictable part of his live show? A rant seems more spontaneous. He obviously performs the obligatory rant for all his shows and they’ve become so mundane and predictable we know exactly what he’s going to “rant” about. Perhaps he should just write up a rant script, it’d probably be a lot easier for him.

    • swack says:

When I first heard he went on a rant, I began thinking the same thing you do. This has now become part of the show and if you don’t expect it to happen then shame on you. I would be more surprised if he didn’t rant each show. I, for one, am tired of him playing the racist card. Until he proves he has been shut out because of the color of his skin and for no other reason, he needs to stop saying it’s because he is black. If he were more self aware he would figure out the real reason they don’t want to work with him.

      • Gigi says:

Yet you’re so quick to accuse someone of “playing the racist card”. You have no clue what this man, or any other, has been through, and (despite how much I hate defending KW) he does not owe you or anyone else justification or proof of his trials in life. Only someone so far removed from the reality of racism and how much it does, yes indeed, permeate EVERYDAY life could claim it’s just playing a card rather than addressing a legitimate experience. This man is not in court and he’s not describing incidents within a legal realm, so he is, despite your apparent beliefs to the contrary, NOT required to thoroughly detail and document every second in order to persuade others that he speaks the truth about what he’s been through. So what if he’s summarizing various instances and doesn’t provide video proof or solemnly swear that “on this date and at this time, xyz occurred”? Is that really the only way people will believe that RACISM DOES STILL EXIST IN EVERY INDUSTRY AND IN EVERY FACET OF LIFE?

      • Bob Loblaw says:

Gigi, my people were not enslaved, they were exterminated. We fled genocide to come to this country to have a chance to live in peace and not be murdered because of our father’s blood. Kanye has no concept of what it is to be persecuted, what it is to live in fear; he is a spoiled brat regardless of his skin color, he has so much privilege, so much potential influence and this is how he behaves.

  21. dorothy says:

His career has gone in the crapper since he hooked up with the Kardashians.

  22. Becks says:

    What a wanker!
    Hahaha

  23. word says:

He’s ranting about Nike? He used to have a deal with them…made millions off of them, then decided to sign with Adidas. His wife still wears Nike actually. Anyone who doesn’t like Kanye or who doesn’t want to work with him or no longer wants to work with him is labelled a “racist”. That is ridiculous. So I guess when Kim no longer wants to be married to him, he’ll call her a racist too huh?

Also, I’m so happy the English booed him. He’s always talking about how Europeans “understand” him more than Americans…ha ha ha !

    • H2O says:

“Anyone who doesn’t like Kanye or who doesn’t want to work with him or no longer wants to work with him is labelled a “racist”. That is ridiculous.”

He has a large platform which is a pity since he’s trivializing racism . So much real racism needs to be dealt with and he’s most likely confusing many of his fans.

  24. Melissa says:

I went to his concert in Dublin and I would’ve loved if he went on a rant I think it’s hilarious. I’m an unrepentant Kanye apologist and I honestly find this stuff refreshing compared to how controlled and packaged for consumption some performers are. I just can’t hate that he still cares so much and always says what he believes to be the truth. I just love raw performances – it’s the closest to the likes of Iggy Pop in his heyday we have in this day and age. Not to mention he is a really talented lyricist and producer. Big whoop he’s arrogant so are 99.9% of people feautured on this site. I’ll see myself out.

    • word says:

      Ok bye.

    • minime says:

Nothing is more refreshing than ranting from the top of your privilege because Louis Vitton didn’t send you their last men pochette wrapped in silk…I’m so happy that Kanye wants to share about all the horrible horrible problems that he goes trough. I was just a bit distracted with Syria and Palestine and Ucraine and and…but now I’m focused again!

      • TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

        Yes, all these comments are too good; and I never thought he was a genius;
        If you want to see true class and talent, check out on Youtube Jimmy Fallon’s interview with the great Jimmy Page who remastered Zep’s first three albums and they all were on billboard’s top ten for sales when they came out in june;
And Jimmy Page has more talent in his pinkie than this loser wankster has in his entire body.

      • Melissa says:

Really you came to a gossip website to hear about Syria, Palestine and ‘Ucraine’ forreal though?

      • Petee says:

To TheOneAndOnlyOnly.Jimmy Page is a genius.Always has been.Kanye thinks he is but he is not.He is just a angry person that rants and raves and thinks he is relevant.People have lost touch with music and being a artist now.Kanye needs to get some help.Delusion runs high in his head.

      • minime says:

        @Melissa
oh dear, I’ll try to keep it simple:
no one comes to celebitchy to read about politics (although it ends up being a topic a lot of times, because both the writers and most of the commenters are intelligent, socially aware people).
So, as I wouldn’t come to celebitchy to read about politics I also wouldn’t pay for a concert for someone to rant about the hardships of being wealthy and privileged. If you will rant instead of doing the job you are being paid, at least use that time wisely to talk about something important (like, let’s say again Syria, or Ukraine or slavery behind fashion industry…). If he would care to pull his head out of his ass, he could even have easily talked about racism in the fashion industry without sounding like an absorbed tool.
Take the example of Victoria Beckam and how long did it take to her to be acknowledge in the fashion industry, and how she had to start with her own label and money (that she had tons to start with, of course). Kanye wants to arrive somewhere, without any qualifications, do some white t’shirts and call it “Givenchy by Kanye”. In the process, he forgets about the people that studied and worked hard to achieve any position in those brands, but all good and fair in the world as long Yeezus gets what he deserves. He should stick to what he was once good (music) and if he wants a career in fashion he could start to acknowledge how lucky he is and maybe join his wife’s brother in doing some socks for starters…or then take the money and start his own brand for white t’shirts.

    • Artemis says:

It’s hilarious because you read snippets of it. Try sitting your ass through it LIVE; after 5mins, guaranteed, you’ll wish you had spend your money better. I don’t know a lot of Kanye fans who can deal with their hard earned cash being abused by a rich man, which is why they criticize and boo him. Ain’t nobody got time for that…

He is really talented, actually producing > songwriting for sure. His problem is that his music is getting weaker (just like Jay’s) and his last album is not a good reflection of his skills.

I’m sure you loved it then that he compared the ‘pap intrusion’ to rape during his Wireless performance? And this is why, you never stan girl…

      • Sozual says:

His last album was one of the greatest albums ever made. Speaking on social issues and using marilyn manson music, r&b artists music, reggae artists music, and techno music in his musical production.

      • Artemis says:

His productions are great, his lyrics: no. He’s nowhere near as good as his first albums. He doesn’t even really ‘rap’ anymore. I am a God, Bound 2 lyrics are horrible in its laziness, a 2 year old can come up with that.

For somebody who rants about racism and social issues, he sure as hell doesn’t preach it in his lyrics when he’s being a vile sexist racist douche himself (eating Asian pussy, all i need is sweet and sour sauce from I’m in It). It’s not because the beat is sick that the song is good!

For me, his music sounds different than most rappers yet his messages are basically the same, not the inspiring real rap from the 90s that was meant to lift black people’s spirits up and motivate them. Kanye cares about Kanye, he ain’t a brother. We wouldn’t see Nas or Pac ranting about the man and paparazzi/privacy and then go on a racist fashion mag (Vogue) with your family and sell your soul. Nuhu…He ain’t a brother anymore.

      • minime says:

        +1
Artemis: that was really on point.

  25. Lara K says:

His main problem is he doesn’t have an ounce of class.

I don’t mind when people go on a tangent so long as it’s meaningful and tasteful. People pay for a concert, not the ravings of a narcissistic lunatic.

I can’t even be mad about it, he’s completely lost his mind.

    • word says:

Most people who truly want to be in the fashion industry are quietly working hard, climbing the ladder. Kanye shows up and demands he become the boss. It doesn’t work that way. He can’t just say the words “I know fashion. I am fashion” and expect the world to agree. He has to use less words and more action. He has plenty of connections. Plenty of doors have been opened for him. It took him nine months to design a plain white t-shirt and then demanded it be sold for a crazy amount of money.

      • Lara K says:

In this case, he should design tools. Because he knows tools. He is a tool 🙂

        Or douchebags.

        Or plastic man parts.

      • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

        9 months to design a white t-shirt?
wait, maybe it was always too long on one of the sides because he forgot the tape measure??

        God help us..

      • word says:

        @ sonalaceae (Nightly)

Actually, to be more precise it took him 2 years to create 2 pairs of jeans, 2 hoodies, and a t-shirt.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

If it’s true he came up with leather jogging pants, he can hardly be surprised if the fashionistas take a pass.

  26. Penny says:

This. All this. My cousin was at the concert and told me how painfully annoying his rant was, which she said lasted closer to 30 minutes. “Prick” was the word used (and she’s even a Kardashian-sympathizer!). Apparently he lost half the crowd, and when he finally decided to start up again no one was interested. – rueful sigh –

  27. Wirelessgirl says:

I was there at Kanye Concert, at the Wireless on Friday night, and I have to disagree with what the mainstream media has reported.

I didn’t hear any booes at all from where I was.
Yes Kanye spoke for quite a long time. But his message was quite inspirational.
He encouraged us not to let other people crush our dreams.
That if we wanted to be awesome, we could be awesome.
And that everything we really wanted, we could actually have. That we didn’t need to follow the mainstream, we could be our original self and thrive.

It was not a rant. It was a message to us.
And then people were singing along with him throughout his whole set, jumping in the park.
Everyone was so happy to experience Kanye West live.
I’m not sure why the media have been so negative with Kanye, but I can assure you, that the vast majority of those that attended the concert, enjoyed it very much!!

    • Jane says:

Speaking for myself and as a Yankee, the man has no clue what it is like to be seriously discriminated against. He compares himself to a slave, which is horribly disrespectful to the true slaves who died so he could be where he is today. The man constantly uses the race card to paint himself a martyr because some big name company doesn’t want to do business with him. Boo hoo! Maybe that company doesn’t want to do business with a delusional, arrogant, horse’s butt that is too much trouble for what they get in return.

He needs to quit whining that it is all because I am black, stop talking like he knows the history of his people (because he doesn’t) and act like a responsible adult who taking ownership of his five year old mentality.

      • Sozual says:

Slavery is still going on today. It is called modern day slavery, the way people are treated working for corporations. There is no race card when the facts are the facts. People are shut down from becoming as big as they want to be. James Mccavoy talked about that in one of his interviews. A person of color can become a millionaire, but there are only 7 black billionaires. That is what Kanye is talking about.

      • astra says:

It’s disrespectful to the people who are actually still in slavery around the world. Nothing is more infuriating to hear people whine about things they have never experienced, in one of the most egalitarian nations on the planet. No, the US is not perfect but at least we try. Many places don’t bother. But many people have no sense of perspective. Kanye should know better, he has traveled and grew up with a highly educated mother. So many people want to be victims, which diminishes and takes focus off of people who are truly suffering in horrible ways.

      • Petee says:

        Word Jane!

      • Bob Loblaw says:

And isn’t it ironic that the fashion and clothing industry leads the charge in exploiting slave labor and child labor worldwide to provide us with massive amounts of clothing to buy. Kanye is so clueless.

  28. Jaded says:

For someone who’s a millionaire many times over, you’d think he’d rant about more worthy topics and make more of an effort to draw attention to and finance charitable work for things like education, bringing kids out of the ghetto, stopping violence, etc. etc. But no. He rants at Nike. What a pin-headed, self-obsessed narcissist he is. Married to one as well.

Go away Kanye, STFU and reinvent yourself as someone worthy, not as someone who b*tches and whines incessantly about what you perceive as racial intolerance because nobody likes your fashion sense. It’s just intolerance of stupidity and arrogance.

  29. A Fan says:

    Egotistical jackass.

    [*That is all*]

  30. Sherlockapple says:

Man, I would hate to be Kim and have to deal with this man before he’s had his coffee in the morning! Crazier than a bed bug.

  31. Ag-UK says:

I could hear this moron from my house . Of course a hot day windows open this is when I wished they had a/c here

  32. Diana says:

I still think Kanye’s erratic behavior is all still unresolved/complicated grief stemming from his mother’s death. Prior to her death, he seemed to keep the crazy more contained. After his mom died, he kind of has been slowly unraveling, starting with the Taylor Swift incident and up until now.

    • Adrien says:

Nah, I was old enough in late 90s to witness pre- The College Dropout Kanye. He’s really a volatile person. Donda’s really influential in his life but his erratic behavior and delusions of grandeur were always there.

  33. Sassy says:

I think he’s a narcissistic a$$hole and blowhard. I wish he and his new bride would just GO FAR FAR AWAY. Can’t stand any of them.

  34. Chris says:

I’ve maintained my disdain for Nike since their unethical treatment of their workers was exposed in the 90s and I’m dismayed at how people who should know better are shamelessly getting around in Nike again. But I don’t think Kanye is the best person to speak out against the unethical pursuit of money.

  35. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Kanye should do a remake of McHammers “you can’t touch this” complete with those low hanging crotch pants – and for Kim they could be done in gold lame.

  36. jwoolman says:

Does he actually have good fashion sense, buried under all the manic behavior? I only know Kim has been dressing atrociously since she hooked up with him, so if as rumored he’s the driving force behind her bizarre choices- that would suggest zero fashion sense. But are there any other signs that he does have something to offer?

    • Bob Loblaw says:

His clothing choices do nothing for him and Kim always looks like a bedazzled sausage casing, I see nothing fashion worthy here.

  37. Adrien says:

Oh Yeezus, if you want the Brits to be in your side and cheer on you, rant something about class struggle and not about luxury brands discriminating on your pampered, rich ass. And make that thing quick, like 3 seconds.

  38. Jane says:

It takes the Brits to put him in place. Thank you, Britain! Keep up the good work. The man has no clue what real discrimination is about, but he keeps up his martyr rant because he thinks it makes him relevant.

  39. Sara says:

    Awesome so awesome.

  40. mytbean says:

I can’t decide if he’s a publicity stunt genius, mentally unstable, or a bizarre combo of both. If it’s just clever trolling – then I think I could be humored. But if he’s ill then I feel sorry for him and Kim. But if he’s just an arrogant idiot with a God complex then JUST GO AWAY.
