George Clooney’s public declaration of love to Amal now has a video, you guys

wenn21688074

Allegedly, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are going to have a very small civil service today in London, which I suppose will be the “legally binding” wedding ahead of the “just for fun” wedding in Venice in a few weeks. If you believe the words coming out of George Clooney’s mouth, that is. Star Mag’s conspiracy (which is also a theory I mentioned on Monday) is that George said they would marry in Venice to throw people off the scent of a Como wedding. We’ll see. Speaking of George’s Sunday confessions, when George and Amal attended the Celebrity Fight Night event on Sunday, it was widely reported that he publicly declared his love to Amal from the stage. For the record, his exact words were: “To my bride-to-be Amal, I love you very much and I can’t wait to be your husband.” NOW WITH VIDEO:

Are you sick of this yet? I am not. I’m really starting to enjoy it. I hope they have their quickie civil ceremony today and Amal and George strut around the streets of London, showing off their incredible love. I hope there are photos. So many photos.

Meanwhile, as I’m sure you’ve heard, George Clooney is going to party like it’s 1927! After working with Hugh Bonneville during The Monuments Men (sidenote: I really hated that movie), George has decided to do a guest role in Downton Abbey. The Dowager Countess will not be pleased at this gauche American invading her life!!!

What would the Dowager Countess have to say about George Clooney and his many years of bachelordom? We may soon find out. The actor will appear in a short Downton Abbey-related film set to air during the holiday season on U.K. network ITV, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. ITV is the regular U.K. home for Downton episodes.

The film is part of ITV’s annual Text Santa campaign that raises money for six U.K. charities. Clooney’s role in the film has not yet been revealed.

Downton Abbey has seen a number of Hollywood stars make appearances over the years, including Shirley MacLaine (Martha Levinson) and Paul Giamatti (Harold Levinson). The series’ fifth season premieres later this month across the pond and begins stateside on PBS on Jan. 4, 2015.

[From THR]

I don’t get it, will this be part of the actual Downton Abbey season or is this some kind of “it has barely anything to do with the actual plot of the show” stunt-queen Christmas special? Will George’s scenes be with the Earl of Grantham? Will the charming and old American guest try to seduce Lady Mary? Will Clooney have a special storyline where he jilts poor Lady Edith in some way? So many possibilities.

    Pass the bucket

  2. PHD Gossip says:

    Barf.

  3. BangersandMash says:

    Dear Mr Clooney
Enough with the “we’re so in love” world tour. Get married already, it seems like so many other celebrities are shading your shine anyway. Brangelina took the heat off of your tour, and your first red carpet was over shadowed by a royal baby. At this rate, the day of your wedding, something huge will happen.

  4. Sabrine says:

It’s sweet really, sooo different from his other relationships.

    • BW says:

Like his divorce from Mona Sterling.

    • Zwella Ingrid says:

I am a loss as to why he is thrusting this crap in the public’s eye? He has always seemed reticent in the past to have much personal press, and now he has suddenly turned into someone that seems to want the world to know every detail of his private life. Like he has some stake in having everyone know every detail of his marriage. Its just weird to me, his turn around in attitude. I’m getting really disgusted with him. As far as she goes, the first picture looks like her dress is half way down her boob. I want to pull it up.

  5. PunkyMomma says:

Can we form a support group for us Almaloonies?

    • RJ says:

Haha! Sign me up. I believe in LOVE and really want them to be happy, although I have my doubts for the long term (jaded Hollywood cynicism).

  6. Bubulle says:

Since he has no movie coming out this year he had to find an opportunity to promote his new relationship, this award was probably set up by his Pr, his speech is very telling, he only talked about his bride to be nothing about charity. Barf !

  7. DanaG says:

Will the real George Clooney please stand up. And is that Amal gasping in shock? Geez George your looking like Tom Cruise. Just get the heck married so the divorce rumors can start.

  8. Cherry says:

What I want to know is, who shot this video? Who’s the lady moaning ‘Oh my GAWD’ when Clooney’ s all “I can’t wait to be your husband”? Could it be Amal herself?? If so, does that mean she’s completely on the Clooney-PR-bandwagon? Or is it someone else? Who speaks English? In Venice? Who’s moved to tears by Clooney’s barf-tastic little speech? Anybody? Suggestions?

    • Abbott says:

I’m guessing it’s Taylor Swift gasping all the way from her greeting card room.

      • Size Does Matter says:

        Abbott, you slay me!

I had been hoping the original reports of this “event” were based on badly translated Italian, but I guess not. Which confirms my theory that Clooney must have hit his head recently.

      • I Choose Me says:

        LMAO

    • Bubulle says:

This looks eerie similar to Tom Cruise engagement announcement during WOW press conference in Paris.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDdxMo6wtVo

      • Jen2 says:

Didn’t Cruise get married in Italy? I think Italy is a romantic place, but it seems to be where overblown American celebrity weddings are taking place these days. Waiting for the guest list and entertainment list. But again, wishing Amalooney the best!!

    • siri says:

The lady moaning IS Amal ! I heard her voice before. Which means, the camera is right behind her.

      • GT says:

I believe it’s Amal too. Note that she is in the video and bouncing around in her chair as George says “love you,” blah blah blah.

Her reaction is that of a teenager. Which would finally explain why this supposedly bright woman is marrying this man-child ~ she is rather immature herself.

  9. Pager90 says:

Finally bored with this fake, contract romance.
    Yawn.

  10. Aussie girl says:

The more Cooney gushes like a school girl and try’s to sell this the more I just don’t buy it.

    • Zwella Ingrid says:

Yes! Unless as suggested up thread, he has hit his head recently, this seems so bizarre and implausible.

  11. Kate says:

I thought it was sweet. I’m really not getting all the hate? Everything I’ve ever read about him points to him being a pretty decent guy and an incredibly hard worker. I run in the same circles with people who run in the same circles as Amal, and I’ve heard nothing but good things, going back long before she was with him. They make a nice couple.

I really don’t understand all the fuss about the supposed circus surrounding this relationship. It seems like totally standard press for someone with his level of fame to me. Maybe people are so surprised he’s getting married they’re just paying attention to things more than they usually do? It’s not at all unusual for A-list celebs to stage engagement ring photo ops, feed quotes to People, try to engineer a certain narrative etc. in fact it’s the norm. He’s actually being pretty low-key, some of his peers would have given half a dozen revealing interviews about their new found love by now, he’s just given a few very unrevealing quotes here and there. Given the oddly intense interest in this relationship we know remarkably little about it. Sure the wedding watch is getting annoying, but George isn’t actually making all the gossip sites write repetitive daily updates, and if those updates weren’t getting hundreds of comments the sites wouldn’t be writing them.

    • minime says:

If he would have wanted he could as well have kept his relationship, engagement and wedding under wraps. Look at Jennifer Lawrence and the Coldplay dude. They are both highly known celebrities and they managed to keep their relationship on the low for a long time and photos with the two of them are almost unexistent. The question is why is he (and she) so eager to sell their relationship? The guy that seemed for years to not be interested in serious relationships (let’s not even talk about marriage) suddenly makes a complete change of persona that he much wants to push to the public. Err…it just seems awkward and really I can only feel fremdschämen for him (and her by proxy), because the all situation seems so uncomfortable and out of character (at least the one he made public for years).

But sure, she seems to be a nice person…

      • joke says:

Gee you think they kept in under wraps because HE IS STILL MARRIED???? DUH. Why should they hide? You are ridiculous

      • dawnchild says:

I love that word…just looked it up! Thanks! I can’t feel that word existed and I didn’t know it. It’s such a common human feeling.

      • Hannah says:

@ minime the Coldplay dude and jlaw have only dated for a month or two. When clooney and this woman was at that stage in their rs you did not even knw they were dating. So I totally disagree with you about that. Already people mag have run several stories about them. So if you want to critique clooney you should apply the same standard to Coldplay.

      • minime says:

        @ Hannah
I don’t care about the Coldplay dude either 😉 My point was that if Clooney and Amal would want they could have kept most of it away from the press. What is on the press is what they want to be and that is a lot of disclosure. So the circus built around the relationship is not an invention but something that they did by themselves.

        @joke
why even bother to answer if you didn’t understand and just want to be rude? Go outside and smell a bit of fresh air.

        @dawnchild
Thanks! I feel the same about it.

      • uptown girl says:

        @Kate
Yeah, George is such a great guy. What you meant to say is that George has the best PR money can buy. There, fixed it for you.
        Read this: http://midnighttransmission.blogspot.nl/2008/02/george-clooney-is-bit-fake.html

    • maddelina says:

I agree with you Kate. They seem like a good match. He’s finally met THE ONE! Good for him.

    • Miss M says:

YOu are so naive… George has sold his personal life years ago through HIS sources and interviews of his girlfriends. That’s why he “seems” so private. He just had a great PR team who delivers news about him without him saying anything and hiding any problems and bad conduct he may have had.

    • CynicalCeleste says:

      @ kate
That’s a lot of running in circles

      @hannah
“Coldplay dude and jlaw have only dated for a month or two” … Or maybe a whole year…do we really know?

      • Danny says:

Lawrence was dating Nicholas hoult up til this summer. So we know she was not dating Coldplay chris very long.

    • Sara says:

He’s the one flaunting this relationship in the press, desperately I might add. Most people don’t really care because the relationship seems so fake.

    • Nedsdag says:

I agree! I’m no fan of his, but if this was King Brad I declaring his love for Camilla Jolie, everyone here would be creaming in their panties. If Amal is fine with this, then c’est la vie.

  12. Eleonor says:

thank God he cannot jump on a couch.

  13. Observer says:

    I….cringed

  14. Victoria 1 says:

Oh George, you are looking bad lately. Go to eat Italy, make pasta and lie down.

  15. TX says:

I hope they aren’t getting married in Venice. I mean, I cannot imagine he would give away the location like that for real!
But maybe….? This whole engagement tour has been pretty famewhore-y. Who knows lol

  16. Central Park South says:

George Clooney is not romantically interested in women and everyone close to his inner circle knows it, including his sister who gave an interview last year stating that he would never get married.

But George, influenced by a financially modest childhood, is desperate to keep as much money coming in for as long as possible.

Amal’s focus, before her FB was taken down, was partying and jet setting. Now she can do that to her heart’s content and have her look-at-me photos published on a much wider stage.

Clooney’s PR, no doubt, shot this video and released it just like they just released recent ‘candid’ stills showing a very emotional Amal with George comforting her taken through an amazingly convenient unobstructed window in a restaurant.

The fact that so many people do not buy this Amalooney farce shows how wise people are getting to being blatantly manipulated which is a very excellent skill to have.

    • kibbles says:

I also believe that is the main reason for Amal’s marrying Clooney. Does anyone believe that a woman in her late 30s who is eligible, successful, and financially secure would marry any old man known to be a player? She is marrying him because he is a big name movie star. Marrying an A-list celebrity is like bragging about one’s jet setting and partying on Facebook but on a much grander scale. Now she gets pics of her awesome life plastered in all the celebrity and fashion magazines. And she seems like the type who loves that.

    • Hannah says:

Some of you go to great lengths to misrepresent this woman because you dislike clooney. I saw her twitter before it was taken down. She only tweeted about work related stuff. There was no sign of partying, jet setting and celebrities whatsoever. Its possible that clooney is all the things you imagine but you should refrain from embellishing stories about this woman just because you find him distasteful.

      • ArtCollector says:

You clearly have refrained from learning the difference between Facebook and Twitter so you are the one embellishing based upon your inability to tell the difference. And while you figure out how to discern between the two, you might want to stop going to great lengths to attribute motivations to Celebitchy community members that you don’t know from Jack since you personally claim to dislike that type of behavior. As far as Amal goes, she has purposefully chosen to take on a very public role and, as such, comments will be made her whether you like it or not and no one has to run them by you for your approval.

I saw Amal’s Facebook before it was taken down and I have seen her ridiculous Mother Baria’s website and I consider both of them famehos that rival any of George’s previous z-listers. Here’s where Amal’s tacky mother offers celebrity guest bookings on her website. Tacky beyond belief:

        • “Celebrity Guest Booking:
Need a well known personality to attend your event, endorse your product or lend their voice to your commercial campaign or film? Globell Communications works with a company which has one of the worlds largest celebrity contact databases available. If you want them, we can get them for you!”

        http://www.globellcommunications.com/Services/services.html

      • Sara says:

It’s quite obvious to everyone that Amal is a famewhore and behind this whole embarrassing freak show. The mystery is why clooney fell for it? Maybe senility is starting to kick in…

      • Danny says:

Why are you stalking her mother? A tad over invested? Who cares if her mother is tacky or whatever. He isn’t marrying the mother. Whatever it is it is. Why is it such a big deal that he’s getting married anyway?

      • Lupo says:

@Danny, Why are you incapable of understanding that you’re on a celebrity gossip site? And that people that have more than one functioning brain cell can easily Google?

      • siri says:

@ArtCollector: The whole site looks like an entertainment outlet, difficult to take that as serious business. But it sure is there to make more money for…?? Let’s see how long it will take before Clooney will make an appearance on it, praising his mother in law’s communication skills 🙂

      • Danny says:

Massive difference between reading something on a gossip site and spend your time googling some celebrity’s future mother in law. Thought only adolescent twihards did that sort of thing. What a waste of time. But by all means if that’s how you want to put your many braincells to use, be my guest. 😉

      • Lupo says:

Not so much of a massive difference — since it probably took less time than your d-bag posts took you, dude, because I didn’t even write that initial post and just did it in two seconds flat. Also, why don’t you be your own guest and try doing something productive with your time like learning that brain cells is two words? 🙂

  17. Belle Epoch says:

    She looks smug.

  18. Nev says:

i don’t need him on Downton Abbey. AT.ALL.

  19. kibbles says:

Clooney just seems so fake and pretentious to me. He comes off as a smooth yet insincere politico type who really cares about coming off as honest and intelligent. Amal makes perfect sense. In a way his choice reminds me of what Sofia Vergara’s douchebag ex said about how he wants someone who dresses “classier” than she. George dated and bedded a lot of women he now thinks weren’t “at his level” like his bride-to-be Amal. I really don’t think he’s as smart as he wants everyone to believe. He’s suave for sure, but I think he’s all talk – just like a politician.

    • Santolina says:

I think it was George Burns who said, “Sincerity is everything — if you can fake that you’ve got it made.”

  20. Sixer says:

Kaiser: not even a Christmas special. Text Santa is just a fundraising drive that ITV does every year. They do little sketches from all their popular shows, then show them during ad breaks and on the tea-time news bulletin, chat shows and the like. And at the beginning of episodes of the particular show, before the credits.

Here’s a couple from recent years (a soap, and Whitechapel – I think you get Whitechapel, right?):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z665UU2a2kQ

  21. JJ says:

I can’t quite make up my mind about whether they are boring, annoying or just cringe worthy.

  22. Jaderu says:

Ya’ll quit raining on my parade. I used to think this was just a sham. A contract relationship. Perhaps a practical joke by King George. But now I know that this is real. Real forevah love.
I just ordered my commemorative Alamooney (signed and numbered) wedding plate with free felt carrying case and free shipping. It even has a certificate of authenticity. So there.

  23. Jh says:

This whole relationship is weird. All of a sudden he’s gushing in public?

  24. poiupp says:

I read the comments here and was expecting something overboard, then I watch the video and he’s pretty restrained and just makes a couple of simple if sentimental comments. What’s up with the people on this board?

    • Bubulle says:

It’s not just this video, it’s all the photo ops and planted stories served by Mr Clooney’s PR that made people sick and tired.

    • Cars says:

They are intelligent enough not to buy this farce that clooney is selling.

    • alreadyready says:

It was the wrong event to open up about his personal life.
It was a formal event, it was charity, it was not about him, he was just a guest and he was not surrounded by his best friends. Italian First Lady was there along with other authorities and many local celebs I bet he had never met before.

      • siri says:

After his announcement, there’s quite a pause before some people politely applause. They really must have been thinking: what in god’s name has that to do with our charity? Nothing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if even the Italians, who always welcomed him, are getting tired of this. He made a fool out of himself to use this charity event for his declaration.

      • jane16 says:

“it was not about him”??? He was given an award by them, I would say that makes the event at least partly about him. He was expected to make a speech, and it would have looked damn weird if he never mentioned Amal, or thanked her, in his speech especially as she was sitting right there. His comments were brief, sweet, but not over emotional as was initially reported. If there was a pause before the applause, it was probably becuz they weren’t sure he was done. George is very popular in Italy, they view him as one of them. My adorable hubbie is Italian and we spend at least two months out of every year there, so I know it well.

    • jane16 says:

      Exactly what I thought.

  25. Santolina says:

Nobody buys his declarations of love and this shotgun wedding, and when more of the truth comes out about Amal and her family there will be some major backpedaling. But maybe by that time, George will have fled the country. The level of desperation suggests he’s running scared about something…

    • jane16 says:

      Good lord!

      • noway says:

I agree that is a bit over top. I don’t think he is running scared, but maybe he is either (this is for Jane 16 & other like minded) trying to control the message and protect his bride, or cynically selling his fans an image. Heavens be he could be doing both.

I do have a few questions that are bugging me. How come we have heard no info or even made up gossip about other men she was with? All I heard was Eric Schmidt of Google, but that died pretty quickly. She’s 36 she must have been with someone. I heard the she’s a virgin comment, but that died too. Just wondering, because I know if I started dating a movie star some lowlife from my past would claim we had a torrid affair. Just comes from being older and not everyone you meet is a gem. She’s an international criminal lawyer not all of her contacts are gems either.

Second why did they have to publicly announce in Britain before the wedding the license application. I know we have plenty of British celebs who live in Britain and got married. Can’t this be done afterwards, especially if you get married in another country. I just found it odd that we have never had that before. I don’t remember Paul McCartney doing that or anyone.

  26. HoustonGrl says:

Yes, I am sick of this. And yet, I can’t stop reading it.

  27. jane16 says:

Thanks for posting, Kaiser. There was a lot of discussion about George supposedly saying “I love you to death…” I think the reality of what he said and how he said it is more low key than we had all originally thought.

  28. Kim1 says:

George being happy and in love is causing so much misery. I LOVE IT

    • Sara says:

It’s not causing misery at all but rather entertainment. However, they both seem so desperate to parade their “love” that it’s only natural for people to react as they deem fit.

    • siri says:

@Kim 1: Who’s upset? The best part of this site here is people thinking for themselfs, and being allowed to articulate that. I don’t see misery here, just a lot of buckets 🙂 We all have our very own perception and understanding, and that is what makes it interesting, and entertaining.

    • Celo says:

@Kim1 Nope, no one’s miserable. Rather, they’re just smart enough to recognize that George is neither happy nor in love, as you claim (as does his PR team). Big difference!

  29. guest says:

I think George Clooney would be the first to recognize and not appreciate that the default of attacking others is the standard anti-intellectual political fallback position — When you don’t have a coherent defense about something, just attack other people personally rather than countering them cogently. The bottom line is that intelligence argues the point without personally attacking those making it.

  30. lowercaselois says:

Why was the video taken down I didn’t get a chance to see it.

  31. lisa2 says:

I see comments saying “What happened to George”.. “Who took over George’s body”.. “Will the Real George stand up”

maybe the thing that is hard for some to admit and see is that this is in fact who George really is.

He and Amal don’t bother me.. I’m not going gaga over them together. But hey if they are happy good for them.

I already got the wedding I was waiting and hoping for. Everyone else is just everyone else.

  32. Diane says:

Maybe after she has the first kid she’ll team up with Hilarious Baldwin and double team George with some yoga poses.

  33. Zombie Shortcake says:

Lol it’s as though he had to say it aloud to convince himself and everybody it’s true.

  34. Pocket Lint says:

He deserves an Oscar for his skilled portrayal of a heterosexual man finally setting down with the girl of his dreams

  35. Lux says:

“Are you so sick of this yet?”
Yes. A million times yes. Bring back the D-listers and cocktail waitresses.
