Amal Alamuddin’s dad loves George Clooney, finds him ‘intelligent, cool’

Some days, I have to just stop and take a moment to realize that this is GEORGE CLOONEY that we’re talking about these days. The same George Clooney who has famously bashed media interest in his private life, the same George who always said he would never marry again, the same George who liked his girls solidly C-list and available for his every whim. That’s the same guy who is marrying a lawyer with an international reputation. That’s the same guy who is making a HUGE deal out of his wedding. Don’t tell me he couldn’t have gotten married quietly in Como months ago. He wants this to be a big deal. And I don’t get it. Anyway, People Mag has yet another article about how Amal’s parents love him.

As George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s highly anticipated wedding in Venice, Italy, draws near, no one would blame the bride’s parents if they felt a little stressed out. But, as it turns out, Ramzi and Baria Alamuddin appear utterly unruffled – just thrilled to welcome Clooney, 53, into their family.

“Ramzi couldn’t seem more delighted,” a source close to the Alamuddins tells PEOPLE. “He finds Clooney very sympathetic, intelligent, cool, easygoing and crazy in love with Amal!”

The 77-year-old retired travel agency operator and university lecturer, who hosted his future son-in-law onboard a yacht last March in Dubai, has even been involved with the planning.

Engaged since April, the Oscar winner and the British international lawyer have quietly planned their nuptials with help from both their families. The pair spent much of the summer in Italy at Clooney’s Lake Como estate, often making it a family affair with visits from Alamuddin’s mother, Baria, and Clooney’s parents, Nick and Nina. In July, the couple’s moms bonded over a day of shopping around Lake Como, walking down the street arm-in-arm in one of the small Italian towns near the lake.

Of course, the Clooney-Alamuddin clans will have plenty more chances to bond in the coming weeks – and that suits them just fine. Excited for the wedding, Alamuddin’s father is also “extremely calm,” says the family source.

And discreet. “He’s not saying a thing about the wedding,” says the source. “He’s a card player and he’s not giving away anything away!”

For what it’s worth, I imagine most of his ladies’ parents have liked him. Think about how YOUR mom feels about George Clooney. Plus, George is well-liked by men. That’s why he’s a movie star who can carry pretty much any film – Clooney’s audience likes him. So, yes, I would imagine Amal’s parents adore him. Sigh…

Allegedly, the wedding is THIS Saturday. Venice. They’re renting out much of one of the biggest hotels in Venice and there might even be a gondola ride or something. Take that, Kimye!!!

To the poster who pointed out a while ago that she looks like Mr. Bean in a wig, I h@te you! It’s the only thing I see everytime I look at her! Haha.

  2. Jules says:

Enough already. Good grief. Clooney didn’t invent marriage. Shut up already.

What do the family pets think? If the dog doesn’t like him, run!

  5. Nan says:

I think George is and has always been jealous of Brad and Angie! This is upmanship! He wants to shine!

    Kaiser – I clicked and I’m ashamed. Almalooney is becoming a bit too precious . . .

I’m too shallow, buuuuttt…. she’s too skinny, and IMO she looks a lot older.

    There I said it.

I guess he’s not saying anything about the wedding because there’s no more to be said about it. One can only hope.

So basically an article about nothing, but they have to remind us for the rest of the week, I guess. Same with the ‘George- is -gonna- wear- Armani’ article, as if George ever wore anything but Armani for suits. If George WAS intelligent, and if this WAS genuine, he would have been married by now, nobody noticing. By now he can be (and MADE) sure that Venetia will be overcrowded upcoming weekend, so he can later complain about the invasion of his privacy, and produce even more PR for himself. His image of being classy is gone. The Pitt’s showed him how that looks like.

I don’t get it either and to be honest, I’m disappointed. One of the most attractive things about him was his unwillingness to play the “let it all hang out” game. Bleargh.

Alamooney, LOL. That’s what you pay when the marriage is over.

People change. I guess george found his mrs right, you can go through life thinking a certain way,but you meet that person who just change your perspective. This is life, things happen,i don’t know why people call her ugly, she’s not. She’s a little too thin, though.

My mother wouldn’t have like Clooney at all. She didn’t trust anyone that was smooth, charming and who appeared to be sophisticated. Both my father and grandfather were both like that and they both were nothing but jerks. My grandfather walked out on my grandmother leaving her to raise 6 kids on her own. Told her he was going out for some cigarettes and never came back. My father was a controlling abusive man so my moms distrust of any man who is like Clooney would put her on edge.Maybe in time she would have changed her mind as long as I was being treated right, anyway, this wedding to me ,is more for her since it’s her first and he probably just wants to give her what she want and make her happy.

I love how she always tilts her head to the side, resting all her weight on one hip to LOWER her height when she stands next to him….so as not to APPEAR taller. When they stand upright….apart…her eye level is inches above his…I’m guessing she’s at least two to three inches taller than him. LOL

When did George hit the wall? It seems like it happened overnight. He looks so much older than her – I don’t think they look right together.
