Prince Harry attends WellChild Awards, is definitely back with Cressida Bonas

wenn21750688

Here are some photos of Prince Harry at last night’s WellChild Awards. I’m including mostly red carpet shots, but I’m also including a photo of Harry meeting a sick boy. Harry gave him a big hug! Who doesn’t want a big hug from Harry? I have to say, Harry has really stepped up his public schedule lately. He’s always kept a much heavier schedule than his brother and his brother’s wife, but over the past year, Harry’s work ethic has been taken to another level as he organized the Invictus Games plus kept his military job plus all of his charitable obligations plus making appearances on behalf of the Queen.

What also surprises me a bit is that after hearing about Camilla Thurlow and how Harry and Camilla could be the real deal, Harry is pretty much back with Cressida Bonas. It’s possible he could be dating Camilla and Cressida at the same time. But I’m kind of wondering if the Camilla thing is over and he’s now actively back with Cressida.

Tongues were set wagging last week when the former couple were spotted on a cinema date. The day after the Prince’s 30th birthday party, he sneaked into the Kensington Odeon with Bonas, 25, to a showing of the new Cameron Diaz romcom, Sex Tape. A week earlier, Bonas had been in the audience as the Prince gave a speech during the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games. Prince Harry’s biographer is convinced that the couple have a future.

Penny Junor, the veteran royal-watcher and author of Prince Harry: Brother, Soldier, Son, says the pair – who formally ended their two-year relationship in April, after the aspiring actress struggled to handle the role of royal girlfriend – are, in fact, perfect for each other.

“Cressida seems to tick a lot of the boxes for Harry,” says Junor. “She’s bohemian, she’s talented, she’s bright, she’s independent, she’s confident, she’s good fun, and she loves to party. She comes from a wealthy and aristocratic family herself, and couldn’t care less about his royal status. He may be a party animal, but the flip side of Harry is incredibly professional, responsible and dynamic. He also has a very sweet nature and he’s loving. The same is true of Cressida. And they both have a great sense of humour and seem to make each other laugh.”

Junor believes the only downside to the relationship was the constant attention it generated. “That seems to have been a major factor in their break-up,” she says, “as it was with Chelsy Davy.”

The Prince and Bonas are kindred spirits in other ways, too, says Junor, both having had difficult childhoods and experiencing loss at an early age. “Cressida’s mother was married three times before she married Jeffrey Bonas, and Cressida was her fifth child. She and Jeffrey split up when Cressida was very young. Her mother married her fourth husband and divorced him when Cressida was 11, and is now on her fifth partner. So Cressida has a complicated assortment of half-siblings, as well as step-relatives that have come and gone.”

According to a Bonas family friend: “Her family history isn’t full of happy marriages and neither is his, so I think there was a nervousness on both sides that if they went that way, would they really know what they were doing?”

[From The Telegraph]

During their first breakup cycle, I noted several times that Cressida seemed somewhat immature for her age (she’s 25). She’s lived the life of a perpetual student for the most part, and I get the feeling that she’s only recently begun to consider a life beyond dance and studying dance. Plus, it just seemed like her relationship with Harry gave her a lot of teenage-esque angst. Maybe the breakup helped her mature? God knows.

Oh, Harry. Look at him with that kid, you guys! He’s not just patting him, he’s holding him. Oy. To me, he’s the real deal. Oh, well, here come the tears.

  2. danielle says:

Ugh. I liked the idea of him with a non aristocrat who worked at a charity.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

anything but Cressida she is so boring and don’t want to look at her on Hello magazine. It would be interesting to see him with a partner of a different race who is interesting – like for him to get with Lupita Nyong’ o – they would be a beautiful looking couple and the babies would be out of this world cute.

    • FLORC says:

End of the day Harry’s wife will be taking a beating at the hands of the press. Her good deeds will largely go unreported and will be sacrificed to make the heir’s wife look like a better deal.
Cressida has smarts and dedication. She’s young right now and acting the part, but I think she has what it takes to be Harry’s wife.

And was Camilla even confirmed past a post relationship fling at best?

      • bluhare says:

She doesn’t have to take a beating, does she?

      • Dena says:

May have been said before but this relationship somehow has an Andrew / Fergie love-friendship-do your thing vibe to me. Sustainable marriage? Perhaps not. Love & shared kids. I can see that. Long-term financial & emotional support coming from Harry. Yeah.

      • FLORC says:

        Bluhare
She shouldn’t have to, but I think it’s likely she will. Fergie vs Diana as an example.
Harry’s wife can never outshine William’s wife. Even if she doesn’t do that and become great frinds with Kate the press will still pit them against each other.

    • notasugarhere says:

HRH Emma Charlotte (Duerre Watson), The Duchess of Clarence?

  3. Maddy says:

That photo is absolutely adorable. I’ve always cared for Harry more than William. Don’t think Cressida will last, as she does seem so “young”, but perhaps I’m wrong.

  4. Megan says:

He and his brother look more and more like their father. Unfortunately.

    • maddelina says:

Lol at “unfortunately”. I agree for the most part but Harry has such a twinkle in his eyes. Charles never had that. He always had that sad sack look on his face.

  5. HH says:

” He may be a party animal, but the flip side of Harry is incredibly professional, responsible and dynamic. He also has a very sweet nature and he’s loving.”

I don’t think I’ve read a more perfect description of Harry. As for Cressida, I hope she’s made up her mind.

    • Sunny says:

Me too! I think like Prince Harry’s other gf, Cressida is beautiful, independent and smart. Unfortunately, she seemed immature and unable to cope with the idea of royal life and what that would entail(leaving her own dreams of dance behind).

Maybe Harry’s romance with Camilla forced Cressida to finally make up her mind about what she is willing to give up to try to make it work with Harry? I think royal life seems incredibly confining and maybe not the best fit for her. Hopefully she had matured.

Maybe she can find enjoyment is royal causes close to her heart? Maybe acting a a patron to arts charities/ working with arts charities?

      • wolfpup says:

Feeling unable to cope with royal life is a testament to Cressida’s honesty.

Hopefully the perks of being royal are “all that”, because it would be nice to see Harry with a “kindred spirit”. After the break-up, Cressida was dressing in black every time that I saw her papped. I think that some strong feelings are involved.

    • FLORC says:

Royal related Twitter was covered in pics of Harry with kids and pure praise. They were gushing at how amazing he’s been lately. And how consistent he is. Press coverage or not. He’s working hard.

My stance on Cressida is known. I like her. She’s young and partying, but she’s proven herself as a smart, dedicated person. Academic smarts. Not wearing a loose fitting top around paps smart. And she’ll have to be able to say goodbye to any sort of career. Or at the very least understand the press will be attacking her for no fair reason being the spare’s wife.
I think she can do this.

There just hasn’t been a solid argument against her other than people’s personal preference.

      • Emily says:

I’m not saying that she’s dumb, but how do we know that she’s academically smart?

      • Bucky says:

I like Cressida, too, and even when she looks a mess, she looks interesting. I’ll take interesting over Kate’s look any day.

Also, I don’t think there was ever any confirmation that Harry and Camilla spent more than a night together. Royal sources came out and denied that Harry took her on a yacht vacation, and straight up said that was a fabrication.

      • HH says:

I just wish I could get someone normal when it comes to reaction to the press. The Middletons always look to pleased with the attention, but Cressida and her grumpy face aren’t doing it for me either. Actually, when thinking about it, Cressida looks fine with the press as long as she’s all dolled up. It’s like she only doesn’t like the press on her “off” days.

      • wolfpup says:

I’d hate to see her turn into a grinning fool just because she’s royal (I’m a little head of events here).

      • HH says:

@FLORC – Cressida doesn’t strike me as anything more than a society girl (as of yet). I don’t see dedication. I think acting and dance are simply interests, however, due to her connections, she gets to have a little more fun with said interests. It’s like she’s falsely pursuing a career. She can’t be a Royal and a dancer/actress (whichever she’s pursuing these days). If she is back with Harry, I can’t take her seriously in this choice of craft because at some point she will have to quit. While she is young, she is at an old enough age to decide which path she wants to pursue. I know people get upset with Chelsy about her dithering, but she was truly at a young age when that could be excused. Once she decided she wanted an advanced degree and a career, she made up her mind and stuck to it.

      • FLORC says:

        Emily
Check out her academic history sometime. Money helps, but end of the day you’re on your own in those exams and auditions.

        Bucky
Right. Camilla imo was the driving force of Harry and her rumors.

        HH
I swear this dance career and the skill required argument has been done to death.
What Cressida has achieved and been accepted into as a dancer isn’t what someone who only sees it as an activity achieves. It eats into your life. It’s full dedication or nothing at all. Like running for example. If you approach running as just a workout and do a few miles each day that’s fine. But Cressida is performing marathons (regarding dance) and that’s heavy training, mental and physical conditioning. It’s not simply an interest. You’re heavily invested and can’t phone in the work.

And Harry’s wife is likely not going to have a career. She would be mocked
constantly and have that used against her. No matter how great her professionalism was her character would be attacked in the rags.

All that aside I agree. Cressida is still very young. I think her commitement to dance only demonstrates she has the ability to bring full dedication to a goal. She can adapt. As she is now there’s nothing that makes me think she can’t evolve into a regal young woman fit for Harry.

And HH regarding Cressida grumpy/smiley face.
She appears smiley when aware of them or posing. She’s been caught grumpy when with or near Harry and they’re actively trying to not be seen together.
Also, I think she has a default b!tc# face. Lots of us do.
The Midds smiles are straight to Ikon and are expected. although they still put out the grump faces as Kate does.

      • bluhare says:

I have to admit I’m more on HH’s side of the fence with Cressida. I know she got a degree and everything, and I think it’s great she’s got a passion. But there was a real campaign (it appeared) after she and Harry broke up so I’m a bit more cynical now.

      • HH says:

@FLORC – That still doesn’t address my concern… If she is so dedicated, why continue with Harry? I have a friend that has an MFA in Dance (and also did Dance in undergrad). She’s serious about dance and worked her butt off in school and she still does trying to make it a career. My point is that I don’t know why any human being would put in all of that work KNOWING they would have to give it up. That’s what makes me skeptical of her dedication (not necessarily her work ethic). IMO, dedication indicates a PASSION, while work ethic means that you can see a task through to fruition and you attempt to do that task well. Cressida has proven work ethic, but dedication. I’m not as convinced. The program at the Trinity Laban was great, but now she’s acting…?????

      • FLORC says:

        HH
Maybe Cressida is in love with Harry? Maybe dance was once a career path, but she’s becoming aware it’s not practical?
I’ve ccertainly put loads of time and dedication into a path that I later abandon. Plans change, people change. It’s hard to set a goal at a very young age and see it through. Not for lack of dedication, but for unknown future.
If nothing else the point I was going for was that she’s proven she has a work ethic and drive. She’s also young. Mind changing is common.

I think that acting stuff was more press than Cressida. I’m not putting much into it.

      • notasugarhere says:

“If she is so dedicated, why continue with Harry?”

@HH. Are you suggesting that she give up a career, one she might love as much as your dedicated friend does, merely because she loves Harry? How is she to know if the relationship will work out? Meanwhile, she’d be sitting around twiddling her thumbs, doing nothing but waiting to see whether or not it works out. Or spending time changing to a career she doesn’t love, because it is considered more suitable by a bunch of us strangers on the internet?

They have one royal wife who didn’t work and waited for a decade, and look at the criticism it has earned her. As others have said, Harry’s wife will automatically be bashed by the press to make Kate Middleton look good, just like Harry is bashed to make William look good. If Cressida quits her career now and waits around for a couple of years to see? If the relationship doesn’t work out, she’s lost her career. If it does work out, she gets bashed for not working and sitting around waiting for Harry.

    • hmmm says:

      Does she have a job?

      • wolfpup says:

Can you imagine her performing at the Royal ballet for her husband like Diana did? Now that would be great! I think of HRH Elizabeth, and her plays when she was young. Perhaps, well, I don’t know. But Cressida is older than Diana was when she married. Who wants to bet that she will have a royal wedding?

  6. ReturnoftheMac says:

I honest and truly just wish the best of life for Harry.

  7. Zizu says:

He is so much like Diana if we consider his work ethic, he should be king one day not his lazybone bro. He is at ease to communicate with younsters or adults.

    • Beatrice says:

So true–my first thought when I read this post. It’s a shame he won’t be the king–Harry would be a natural.

  8. QQ says:

Recasting of Blanda McAlthropeHighSocietyBlonde Begins..feom Wild and Needy to a “great Match” here is the thing: very rich well off party girls dont want it with The Firm and why would they..Too much responsibility and appearances, on the other hand, The Firm would probably tut tut about their families and having kooky relatives and divorces etc so that alone would be a deterrent, I mean Id feel like crap if someone was sniffing at my family not being good enough etc

    • Pixelated says:

“Blanda McAlthropeHighSocietyBlonde”… I’ve missed you, QQ.
Cressy needs to work on her PR image if she wants to wed the Spare. To me, she comes off as kind of cold and aloof (maybe because I never see pictures of her smiling or really, doing too much, unlike Harry.) If she was papped with Harry doing some children’s charity even, it would be locked down. I guess I’m just hoping she’s more charismatic than Waity.
I’m rooting for her but she has to step up her game.

      • wolfpup says:

mmm…I would like to see Cressida with children too. I keep thinking of the 100 Dalmatians every time I see her name.

    • COSquared says:

Most aristo girls would enjoy being a duchess, wouldn’t like the idea of responsibilities and appearances.

  9. Talie says:

These stories are generated by her family. The Telegraph is her chatty brother’s paper of choice… when it comes to media manipulation, not much separates her family from the game the Middletons played way back when. Truth: The Midds were better at it.

    • Jegede says:

Yep and as I’ve said b4 the Cressida (Bonas) stans lacerate the Middletons for the same thing.

Missing Dame Snarweek big time for her insight

      • wolfpup says:

I’m missing Dame too, hoping that it’s not because I call the Dolittles, do-little; or Will-not and Kan-not. It’s only in fun. Seriously Dame…where art thou?

      • Jegede says:

Its blah for me without her.

Not only was she interesting with her analysis, but for me, as a Londoner, it was interesting to hear/share- – the perspectives/comparison of many inside info with someone living Down Under.

She, GoodNames and bluhare are regulars I enjoy (respect) when I pop in royal posts

      • FLORC says:

        Wolfpup
We all need breaks. Sometimes we have stuff going on in our lives that is easy to bridge emotionally to these topics. Sometimes the comments become too much.

I can’t blame her and others. Lately, there have been some OTT malicious comments and commenters taking over. Or those who refuse to see a negative aspect. Things are off balanced here.

      • Talie says:

The Middletons succeeded so well during that time because Katie Nicholl really ushered them into the media game like a pro. No other royal girlfriend has had a fairy godmother as good as Nicholl. Or perhaps, none of them have had the stones to build a friendship with a journalist the same undercover way.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I miss little Snarkie, too. And thanks, Jegede, I like your posts, too. And I agree with FLORC.

      • wolfpup says:

FLORC: I remember your great patience in explaining positive opinions to the “trolls”; or rather to the people who were being “difficult”. Everyone just pitched in trying to help them understand, and I thought that was so awesome! You are the “Great Explainer”.

bluhare, I am counting on you that you did not take my comments, as other than saying that you were good on both sites, and I’m not. I’m just not good walking on thin ice! I bet that you can hop anywhere!

Lady Slippers, it’s been forever since I’ve heard about your 17 year old son; and your daughter. Are you even listening? It is so much fun when you are here.

hmmm; so glad you are here, mostly because I like your political views.

Dame? Snarkers, Snarkie, you are not snarking once a week!

I think that all of the posters on this site have something of importance to share. I really do!

      • bluhare says:

Thank you, Jagede! I’m a bit cynical on this topic though. 🙂

      • Jegede says:

        Great to see you GoodNames.

@Talie – Pls don’t fall for the St. Bonas and Satan. Middleton narrative.
        Trust.
The Middletons have being bashed A LOT over the most innocuous things with some posionous narrative……..it seems right down to how they apparently smile for cameras
(Double Standards as I have explicitly said in my earlier posts)

      • Jegede says:

Just saw you bluhare. Hey gurl!

      • bluhare says:

wlfpup, no worries. Takes a lot more than that to get me mad. Differing opinions make the world go round.

Everyone else, I agree for the most part. I think that Cressida’s got slammed by some people for no reason although she doesn’t exactly set me on fire either. But at the end of the day, Harry’s got to find someone who makes him happy, and if I find her a bit underwhelming, no big deal.

But, yes, putting a halo on her just because she isn’t Kate doesn’t cut it for me either. She’s got to rise and fall on her own merits, and I hope I see some!

      • FLORC says:

        wolfpup
        Aww thanks!

Dame and I have gone head to head here not always agreeing or finding common ground. That said Dame has always been polite in discussions. Hope she’s well where she is.

  10. Steph says:

This is just more PR for Cressida. After Harry called it quits, there was no more interest in Cressy. She did manage to get a role in a Weinstein movie shortly after the breakup because of her notoriety, but after the break, the people’s interest in her evaporated,no more magazine covers, boo hoo.

I really am hoping that Harry marries someone who shares his same interest in humanitarian causes,a professional who actually has a life. I thought the Camilla girl would have been the one.

  11. Miss5280 says:

Cressida always looks sloppy and ungroomed to me. That is the opposite of what I would expect a Prince to select for a wife. You’d think the royal handlers would make her up her grooming game if Harry is serious about her.

  12. JLo says:

I truly think Harry and Camilla were a PR fauxmance manufactured because of the Scotland vote. Hot Harry hooks up with Miss Edinburgh – so vote NO, young people (who were skewing toward independence in polls)!

  13. InvaderTak says:

What happened to th century scotish beauty queen? Too political?

  14. maybeiamcrazy says:

Now I am confused. Didn’t she want to be an actress? I thought she was too ambitious for BRF. What changed? Will there be a Duchess Cressida? I want it to happen.

    • wolfpup says:

I think that Cressida loves Harry; also that her family sees the of value of the alliance, and encourages the affair, that seems to be of the heart. On this note, I leave Harry to decide who will be his consort in life. Maybe Cressida has come to love Harry, like Kate does Wills. I want Harry to be happy, and Cressida too. Maybe it’s a good thing that she is not intimidated by the press. I wonder if we’ll get to know her more so than we’ve been able to with Kate.

  15. anne_000 says:

I really hope Cressida isn’t his final choice. Imo, she’s too much like Kate. Instead, I prefer someone who has at least the same work ethics & seriousness in doing charitable works as Harry.

  16. rtms77 says:

ie: She didn’t get the instant fame and movie/tv auditions she had hoped would launch her career after dating him so she’s back for more. I see this ending badly. If by some miracle they marry they will divorce shortly afterwards. She has never had a stable family life and knows nothing about what a marriage takes to succeed. She seems lazy and bored as well as indecisive.

  17. CynicalCeleste says:

For some reason I don’t think ‘maturity’ is a driving factor in Harry’s assessment of women. He dates girls he finds fun and attractive and it’s as simple as that.

  18. Suze says:

Well, I personally think that Harry has a type, and Cressida is that type. So was Chelsy. Not that they are the same – obviously they are individuals with individual characteristics – but Harry likes his women from a certain social class, blond, high-strung, dramatic and interesting (to him – ymmv).

No matter how much people pine for it he isn’t going to settle down with an intellectual heavyweight, an Eleanor Roosevelt crusader type, or a nice middle class girl with a regular job. I also think a woman of color is also a pretty farfetched desire on the part of some posters.

I don’t have strong opinions on WaterCress herself. How could I when all she does is mope around and glare at the paps? She’s sort of the anti Kate that way, and I’m sure that will make an interesting contrast if Cress does take the big prize home.

I do celebrate the return of the Allthrusters. Royal gossip has been boring without them.

Seriously, these two better be in it to win it this time. I can’t work up enthusiasm for another blonde.

    • Pixelated says:

I really think that if Cressy is continually papped with Harry, she will be the one.
I’m getting huge vibes that he wants to settle down. He’s 30 and has accomplished a lot and people love him. He seems comfortable with himself, finally. I really hope he has found a good match with Cressy because I think we’re all eager for him to succeed in the marriage department.
Sidenote: I like Cressy more and more, actually, considering she seems a lot more passionate about life in general than Kate does. If she and Harry bring a jolt of life (and we’re not just talking about popping out more babies) to the Firm, then there will be less questioning about independence(s) and the need for the BRF.
Or maybe Emma Watson can just marry Harry. Now she’s a woman I can get behind.

    • CynicalCeleste says:

Hey Suze, agreed. Long live the Allthrusters!

    • Dena says:

His type, I think, is the proto-type of “good fun Mom.”

  19. Pen Name says:

That picture of him hugging the boy is perfect! He is carrying on for his Mom. Thank god one of her sons is. Whoever he wants to marry is fine by me. There are many people who have not had a stable family life who can make a lasting marriage. Think how many people come from divorced families.

  20. rudy says:

Isn’t it important that Harry LOVES Cressida? No one has mentioned love anywhere. Does it still have no place in the current royal family?

  21. Rawr says:

I’m pretty ignorant about modern aristocracy, so I’m confused as to why someone has to “give up” their dreams to marry someone like Prince Harry or William. This isn’t the fifteenth century or even the nineteenth. Not to bash Duchess Kate, but she seems to have a lot of time on her hands. If she wanted to she could have a career/charity/path other than whatever it is that she does. I feel that it is ridiculous that William married a “commoner” is huge news in this century. They’re just two dudes who happened to be born from a known lineage. If someone could explain this crazy world, I would be much obliged. 🙂

    • FLORC says:

It doesn’t make sense. That’s just it. The system is archaic.
Even those royal women who were commoners and married royal with careers got attacked. Working hard as a oryal doesn’t always bring the great press you’d think.

    • bluhare says:

I don’t know why, but I somehow this the BRF would shudder delicately at an “actress” or “dancer” in their midst. But on the other hand, Andrew could have married Koo Stark except for that pesky soft porn movie she did, right?

  22. racer says:

Maybe in my next life aristocracy will cease to exist. Definitely appreciate the history but the lifestyle is perpetually antiquated.

Wouldn’t it be divine if Harry married someone that wasn’t Caucasian, add some sprinkles on that vanilla!
