Kim Kardashian works so hard: ‘I don’t think reality TV gets the respect it deserves’

wenn21861262

Kim Kardashian made an appearance at the Re/code conference on Monday in California. She sat down for a Q&A session and she ended up talking about her branded video game (which is still making crazy money), her favorite phones and her reality show. You can read the full coverage here – there were plenty of eye-roll moments, but all in all… she has been ahead of the social media curve most of her adult life, you know? Some highlights:

When asked why people don’t take her seriously: “I don’t know. That is a question that sometimes I get frustrated with. I pride myself with my work ethic, and I work really hard. I think when people hear that I might have gotten success off of a ‘reality show,’ they take that as a negative. We’re in our tenth season. We have more episodes than ‘I Love Lucy.’ We have so many milestones that people don’t think about.”

She works really hard, you guys: “I wake up every single day at 6 am, and go to the gym, and get my daughter up, feed my baby, film all day, sometimes don’t finish until 8 or 9 pm, and that’s every single day, six days a week, for five months straight while we’re filming … I don’t think reality TV gets the respect it deserves.”

Being called “the Olympics of oversharing”: “I’ve always just been open. I’ve been super-open with my life, and that’s just who I am, and that’s how my family is, too,” Kardashian West responded, noting later in the interview that she handles all of her social media posting — and seemed genuinely flabbergasted that other celebs might have teams do this for them.

She is NOT paid $10,000 per tweet: “I would have been tweeting every two seconds if it was true.”

Loving Instagram: “I’m loving Instagram. I think you can be really creative, and a little more intimate. It has more texture than just words, obviously… [I have] a three-image rule. In the same setting, I try not to do more than three. It oversaturates my feed.”

She’s loyal to Blackberry: “I love my BlackBerry. I don’t understand the reaction I get when I say that. It’s my heart and soul, I love it and I’ll never get rid of it. I do have an iPhone, and I use it for photos. But if you write an email and you need to type fast — I like having the [key]board. They don’t even have them in stores anymore. I buy them on eBay. It’s a BlackBerry Bold. And I like to have three in my room that I line up in case they break.”

Her iOS Kim Kardashian: Hollywood game and whether it’s really made $200 million: “We’ll never talk dollars and cents … It could be more. It could be less. It’s been very good to me.”

[From Re/code]

She also said that she’s working with video game people to add more “characters” to the game and it sounds like there will be some updates that will probably add up to even more $$$ for Kim. As for her Blackberry obsession – I’ve known people, professional people, who are still very loyal to their Blackberries too. I think it’s just like Apple loyalty – it’s just a preference for user-friendliness and some people are happier with the feel of a Blackberry.

Oh, and she really needs to stop comparing Keeping Up with the Kardashians with I Love Lucy. STAHP.

let’s go back Kim…..way back to the real reason you got famous. Not that your dad was on the dream team, not that you invented a car that runs on water, the cure to cancer…no…I pretty sure it was releasing a medicore sex tape with Ray J. You didn’t plant a flag anywhere, so keep LUCILLE ******** BALL’S name out of your plastic lips

    • Abbott says:

I’ll never take the advice of someone who agrees to anything involving Ray J and a video camera.

    • Ciria says:

“I think when people hear that I might have gotten success off of a ‘reality show,’ they take that as a negative.”

HAHA. Joke of the day! “Reality show” is the operative word here and what she really meant was “sex tape.”

    • sally says:

You are so mean to Kim. Jesus, her sex tape came out more than a decade ago, how long will it define her? Get over it. Yes, it put her on the map. And even may be she orchestrated it with the help of her mother. And whether she put it out or it leaked, she made money from it. Which I never understood why people had a problem with that. If something like that of mine leaked, I’d want some stellar compensation for the embarrassment.

Regardless, that sex tape didn’t maintain her level of fame. She DID WORK HARD, whether that’s our definition of ‘work’ or her definition or ‘work,’ she worked. She’s been incredibly gracious. She’s never been in trouble with the law. She doesn’t party or drink and still, she’s treated with such disrespect because she once made a sex tape in her early 20s.

      • snowflake says:

how did it leak if she signed off on it? companies can’t just release sex tapes, people have to agree to it. That said, people are mean to her. But she lies a lot and is so superficial and vain. marries for money. sorry, but it’s hard for me to respect her. I think her mom is smart as hell, because she’s managed and got her success. her working hard is dressing up, getting her makeup done and going to parties. yes, she does spend a lot of time in the doctor’s office. but she doesn’t work physically hard, and has been brought up wealthy and been spoiled her entire life. plus she lies so much. like saying she works out every day. if she does, she would have some muscle tone. she just comes across as a lying, sly manipulator. to me anyway.

see lauren’s comment #8. she nailed it perfectly

      • Tracy says:

Kim claimed in this interview that her reality show made her successful. That is not true. Her sex tape did. Nobody would know who she is without that sex tape. Nothing wrong with pointing out the truth.

And it definitely was a well orchestrated move on the part of Kim and her sick mother. No question about it.

      • sally says:

@snowflake From my understanding of this, the tape was already making the rounds underground and instead of fighting to get it removed (which is hard with the internet) she made that deal.
But look, I can definitely understand how she comes across as a liar, narcissist etc. I won’t argue against that. I guess, i”m always surprised by how much of that she gets versus other celebs because they can sing or act but somehow being a saavy business woman (with the help of mom) isn’t something real.

@tracy the tape definitely put her on the map, but if the show wasn’t entertaining there is no way it would have lasted 10 seasons. She easily could’ve faded as fast as she came onto the scene.

      • Kitten says:

No one has an obligation to automatically respect anyone else. Respect isn’t simply granted– it is earned, and Kim has done absolutely nothing to earn my respect.

      • hotnerd says:

The sex tape came out in 2007, not “more than a decade ago.”

      • Falkor says:

Oh please, Kim got pissed into the limelight by Ray-J, she didn’t work for it. Apathetic bj queen isn’t a synonym for business woman. Besides, everyone knows Kris is the little (wo)man behind the curtain in Kardashian Oz.

      • Rux says:

        Sally…..hahhahah….nice a.k.a. Kris Jenner

      • jwoolman says:

Sally- she keeps doing things that are just extensions of that sex tape, that’s why it defines her. She didn’t just say “I was young and stupid”, she poses naked for national mags and nearly naked for the paps and Instagram every chance she gets. She’s the one who has never moved beyond the sex tape. And she obviously intended it to be distributed- she went right up to the camera and identified herself by name. Who does that on a private video?!? She’s not a savvy businesswoman, she’s just an obedient daughter of one who is comfortable shedding her clothes for the camera but then tries to act surprised that the clothes shedding that started her career is still remembered. If she were honest and just admit that’s her real job and she’s okay with it rather than pretending to be something she’s not – people would like her more. But she’s just a liar, 24/7, about everything.

      • minx says:

The sex tape is pretty far down on my list of reasons I don’t respect her.

      • Pandy says:

Hi Kim! Seriously though, I slog along for 3 weeks holiday plus one float day per year. That’s working hard. A team of folks keeping everything ticking along for a measly 5 months (yeah, right) while you vapidly simper a few lines to the camera while eating lunch is not working hard. I suspect the crew for her show DO work hard, but not those fame whores.

    • Chrissy says:

Lucille Ball is rolling over in her grave!!!

    • mernymerlyn says:

Even Kanye said in one of his lyrics
“My girl a super star all off a home movie”
He knows, we all know Kim.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

And seriously–her sex tape was BORING. But that’s probably because I’m comparing it to the only other celeb sex tape I’ve ever seen–Colin Farrell’s….and my oh my. *smirk*

I’d be surprised if he didn’t have women sending him fanmail about how their vaginas are so ugly and he needs to tell them how beautiful it is.

    • Jamie says:

Definitely true. Not all reality stars are equal. It’s what reality stars do outside of their ‘reality show that gains them respect. And so far all Kim is known for outside her shows is her sex tape, wearing clothes 3 sizes too small, vapid selfie-taking and ignoring her kid. Not much respect to be had there.

Some former reality stars have earned some respect… take Nicole Richie for instance. She’s never going to be the next Angelina Jolie, but she seems to have garnered some respect for her fashion design career.

Others like Kim, who show no real skills beyond being able to stand in front of a camera fade into obscurity when their spotlight is gone. Like Paris Hilton and all the kids on the Hills, and even Jersey Shore.

    • fee says:

Well said. Wakes up early, takes care of daughter while working late. Hey Kim, you are filming your life, you are not work
ing in a factory, you have nannies, make up people and spend your time branding yourself, enough

  2. Darkladi says:

Well I do admit the girl’s got hustle. #getmoneyb*tch

    • Dana says:

Her working hard is just being busy. I could be gone and busy all day long, doesn’t mean my job as a stay at home mom means I work very hard. You have to be doing something meaningful. Wtf is she working hard at? Being the selfie queen lol?

      • TX says:

Exactly!! It’s not hard to go to Thailand on E!s dime. But I guess “hard work” is all relative. To us this is a joke. But to her, maybe it is. *shrugs*. She’s the Goop of reality TV for sure. “My life is sooooooo hard you guys!!! I have to just life my life and go on vacations that E! pays for and films!!”

    • denisemich says:

It is HARD to stay relevant. Yes, we got to know Kim K-W from a sex tape but she still is relevant. That is the hard work. There are a lot of people that have done sex tapes that are not as rich. Let’s look at Pam Anderson or Paris Hilton. They are not as relevant.

That is HARD work. Look at Madonna. She will do anything to get us talking b/c we remember her and then she can get deals to make money.

Is it harder than having a 9-5 job with a horrible boss? HELL NO! But it is more work than sitting on your *ss each day or being a trust fund baby? HELL YES!

      • littlestar says:

And don’t forget – one the of the SCARIEST ways Kim stays relevant is through her plastic surgeries. Can you imagine continually altering your body just so people will keep talking about you? It’s warped.

      • denisemich says:

Yeah but Janet Jackson and Madonna did that first.

      • Momma says:

Her sex tape will define her until she accomplishes something bigger. Can’t even speak English: “I pride myself WITH my work ethic”??

And do you, denishemich, even know what the word “relevant” means? It requires a connected concept that something is relevant TO. With the Ks, no concepts.

      • Josephine says:

I think of work as something useful, something with a purpose, something that makes the world better place, however small the change may be. Staying relevant should not be anyone’s job description. That’s not work, it’s a vanity project, a seemingly everlasting one.

I will give you this: She seems willing to do absolutely anything to stay relevant. She will marry for publicity, wear anything that brings her attention, ruin her poor figure, troll us with lies and stupidity – the list is endless. I don’t think of that as work, I think of that as a total willingness to sell absolutely anything about herself for the almighty PR and the almighty dollar.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

There is no one more irrelevant on the planet than Kim. Keeping photographers focused on your ass is hardly a skill set. She’s a joke, and she’ll always be a joke, she made herself into a ludicrous caricature and then expects respect and praise for being exceptionally shallow and vapid. Unless she makes some fundamental changes in lifestyle, she’ll always be an empty vessel, insecure and ruled by the mirror.

      • Chrissy says:

Josephine, I agree with you. She produces nothing and concerns herself with no one but herself. She has sacrificed her dignity, her self-respect, her self-esteem even the opportunity to be a good parent, all for fame and attention. Sure she has money but she is never satisfied and always wants more. Any good she could do with her fame is wasted at the alter of greed and plastic surgery. She’s an empty shell and a laughable excuse for a 34-year-old woman and mother. IMO respect is beyond her reach. She is a walking punch-line and always will be.

  3. QQ says:

Vocal Fry Butt Please!!! You and Ye’ need to stop this trying to make BAD reality Tv Fetch Happen (cause the Amazing race and Project Runway for example are still EVERYTHING! Her changing outfits and tottering about with her surgical sisters and mom fake fighting and sounding like drugged up sinus congestion barbies aint it!)

    • Josephine says:

“tottering about with her surgical sisters” wins the day.

This woman is a first class troll — her life is one vacation, plastic surgeon visit, shopping trip and lunch after another, after hours of hair, make-up and crappy wardrobe, and not one person is buying the argument that the woman takes care of that kid. I don’t doubt that she thinks she works hard because I doubt enjoys life at all.

    • black orchid, says:

“Vocal Fry Butt” , “You and Ye” “sinus congestion barbies” ,ur words are pure gems QQ! !doffs off hat and gives QQ a royal salute!!

    • Kiddo says:

‘Surgical sisters’, holy F. That is hilarious. It would also make for a good band name.

      • QQ says:

Now Kiddo You KNOW i try my hardest to stay the eff out Kardashians posts cause it just overcomes me with a REAL desire to roast the shizz out of their vacuous asses

      • Kiddo says:

You’re the only damn good thing about the posts. Do not abandon or abort mission.

    • Ginger says:

      QQ wins the Internet! 🙂

    • Diana says:

Are you in comedy… Like professionally??? You must be!!! Love all your posts. They are gold!!!

    • Darkladi says:

      “Surgical sisters?” Holy LMFAO. 😄

    • Nedsdag says:

Add Surgical Mother and soon-to-be ex-Surgical Stepfather/mother as well.

  4. jane says:

Reality tv is not being “open” as it’s probably the most fake tv ever.

  5. Anna says:

I do think she actually does work really hard. If you’ve watched her show or even just take into account the amount of products she endorses or models for you can see that she works a lot and that’s why she’s been pretty successful and has remained quite known. She did first get famous from a sextape but I think she capitalized off of that very well and basically built an empire with her mother and the people who continually slam that seem kind of sexist and misogynistic to me.
I agree about the reality tv thing too, people who always claim that they “don’t watch reality tv because it’s for the brainless blah blah” seem like un-fun stuck up people who clearly have this need to tell everyone how much better they are than them and think people will think highly of them when really they just seem like jerks.

    • Tifygodess24 says:

So because people don’t like her or criticize her they are sexist and misogynistic especially if they mention her claim to fame? Why don’t you just add jealous haters as well? What a silly statement , plenty of people dislike Kim because she’s vapid , narcissist and will sell her soul for a dollar. And I watch reality tv ( not her krap ) but I will say most of its absolute trash so does that make me less fun as well? Lmao.

      • otaku fairy says:

Sorry, but Anna was right about that part of it. It’s not that anyone who criticizes or dislikes Kim K is sexist. It’s that the people who constantly use her sex tape and other sex-related stuff as a reason to slam her are revealing some misogyny- that’s the point Anna was probably making, and she’s right. People- including those who like to think of themselves as oh-so liberal, so chill about sex, so feminist, totes progressive, or similar labels- not only slam her for sexual reasons, but use that as an excuse to fat-shame her as well.

‘Jealous haters’ has nothing to do with it. As I said in another comment, I think this girl (and her family) are shallow, annoying, self-absorbed, and overexposed, but that criticism isn’t sexist.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

No. You cannot claim that people who criticize kim for her sex tape are misogynists. You fail to understand that pornography is largely about the exploitation of women and children by men and for men. “Normalizing” the sexual exploitation of women is not okay, what Kim did is not okay. She’s just peddling it for creeps and out of pure self-interest. I don’t have any respect for someone like Kim, an amatuer porn star looking to get famous who then claims she “works hard, you guys.”

    • GeeMoney says:

As much as I can’t stand her… there’s always a place for people like Kim Kardashian in the world. The Kardashian show is silly, but it’s entertaining, and people enjoy watching it. Reality TV (and TV in general) serves as an escape from the real world, and her and her family serve their purpose in showing off their silly shenanigans on TV for the masses to enjoy.

Now, I honestly don’t think that working out, modeling, hawking products and being yourself on national TV REALLY does qualify as work, but whatever. She’s lucky to be able to call doing that a “job”. On the flip side though, I’d like to think if we could all make money doing just that, we’d all be doing it.

But I will say… you can’t get PEED on in a sex video and then ask the question/be mad about why no one takes you seriously. Sorry, Kim… you are just going to have to deal with that.

      • Alex says:

I think she’s judged, at least by some, not for making a sex tape in her private life, but for choosing to make and sell a sex tape to become famous. I also don’t think she’s a good person ~ it’s just one example, but her 72 day marriage? Come on. Kris Humphries may have been a tool, but he seemed serious about the marriage. She’s also a total bitch to her siblings. Listening to her whine about hard work is irritating when all she does it go to photoshoots, sign her name to anything that will have her, and let cameras follow her around all day.

    • sally says:

@ ana @otaku fairy there is definitely a hidden layer of misogyny and insidious sexism that comes into play with kim K. people seemingly can’t get over her sex tape and that says a lot about our society and how people view sex and women and shame them for it regardless of anything or everything positive that they do or accomplish afterward. Unfortunately, Kim will never be known for anything other than that sex tape and all success will be because of that tape. sad that our culture won’t let her put it behind her.

      • Lizzie Babette says:

I respectfully disagree about hidden misogyny. Ray J is equally disdained for his “part” (no pun intended) in the sex tape. Why I think people bring it up is that since then, she’s done *nothing* of real importance. She’s parlayed a career as a “celebrity” who just poses, wears awful clothes, gets paid to show up at events, and photoshops the bejesus out of photos that don’t show her surgical activities to perfection. If she were involved in charities, or something like that, people would eventually talk about her accomplishments instead of her sex tape. Just my two cents’.

      • pk says:

I think the real damage to Kim’s reputation came after the marriage to Kris Humphries for money and ratings. Everyone turned on her after that.

      • Momma says:

Misogyny? Sexism? I’m sorry, but she started with a sex tape in which she was degraded by a man, then she went on to market her body, not to mention undergoing hideous procedures to market it some more.

She’s an embarrassment to every hardworking woman in the world.

And now she has a child to market. Which is good, because the only time the kid sees her is if there’s a camera around. Ugh.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

What do you think pornography is all about? Do you think it’s some fun sexy romp for the ladies? Get real, Kim is an amatuer but she dipped her toe in an industry that is all about misogyny. Do you want your daughter or sister or mother making a home sex tape and peddling it to the public for fame? Most people think that’s not a good career move but I guess we’re all “hidden misogynists”.

      • Anna says:

@Lizzie Babette LOL in what world is Ray J equally disdained for his part???? Are you kidding me? I hope that’s a joke.
Secondly Kim donates 10% of her earnings to charity.. so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
@Bob Loblaw, she was young and a lot of women and men don’t realize how sexist the porn industry is. stop acting like what you know now is exactly what you knew as a twenty year old. I guess you didn’t read what I said because I never said people who disagree with her “Career move” are misogynists. So please sit down and try again.

    • Intro Outro says:

@Anna: I have never seen a single reality TV show in my life, none of my friends watch reality TV. Yes, we do exist, and I daresay we aren’t a bunch of stuck up prissies or jerks. Reality TV simply doesn’t factor in our lives.

      • Anna says:

@Intro Outro I said people who always feel the need to talk about it….

@Nedsdag grape!!! it sure is tasty 🙂 maybe you should try it sometime and maybe then you won’t seem so salty. just a suggestion!

    • Nedsdag says:

Boy, that Kardashian Kool-Aid must taste great! Is it cherry or grape?

    • Anna says:

      @Otaku Fairy thank you!!!
If people don’t like Kim that’s okay, but if people can see the misogyny in some of the comments said about Kim then I feel bad for the women around them tbh.

    • Trashaddict says:

If you work hard putting out a s%*t product, it’s still a s%*t product.

    • KC says:

To date I have always affirmed that Kim has true work ethic (which I think she learned from her morally corrupt mum). The woman gets flour-bombed and assaulted and she stays the course to do her public appearances/promotions, wear outrageous outfits, crash diet, continually alter her body, undergo intense public scrutiny for both brains and beauty to stay relevant so she can get that MONEY. I would not be able to endure the invasion of my privacy or limitation of my freedom because I don’t value that lifestyle so in regards to it my work ethic would be nil.

HOWEVER, I do not now, nor have I ever appreciated or agreed with her cries that her version of reality tv is “hard work” or notably “respectable”. She doesn’t get to lump herself in with The Amazing Race or Shark Tank bc those people actually have to use their bodies and brains to do things other than just LIVE THEIR NORMAL LAVISH LIFESTYLES while they “film all day”. Heck, it’s truly the camera crew, editors, producers and technical people who do “real” work that can transfer and does occur outside of their regular responsibilities and routines of “surviving”. Yes she has great work ethic, yes she’s savvy on staying relevant and capitalizing in this society but if we’re talking about her reality show NO I can’t give her props for “hard work”. She worked harder getting her parents to buy her stuff to resell on eBay for a profit and being all her previously famous friend’s organizers/stylists and footstools. If her reality show consisted of being filmed doing any of those things then yes, that’d be work, not being filmed to look good, take selfies, go on vacation or perform all her endorsements which really is just being paid to spend outrageously to be and get rich. 🙁

  6. LA Native says:

    oh, hell no.
There is just no possible way this trick goes to the gym every morning!
Not buying anything she has to say but especially this.

    • word says:

She used to tell people she wakes up early every morning to go open their DASH store until one day Khloe got fed up and told people that Kim rarely ever steps foot into their store but wants to take all the credit. Kim is a habitual liar. She would be much more liked if she was more real and honest about herself and her “success”. Now that she’s will Kanye, she’s even more delusional than ever.

  7. lucy2 says:

“We’re in our tenth season. We have more episodes than ‘I Love Lucy.’ ”
    Quality, not quantity, dummy.
She needs to drop this “I work so hard!” whining, because NO ONE is buying it.

  8. Lauren says:

Why people don’t take her seriously? Hm, let’s think about that.

Maybe it’s because she talks in a Valley girl baby voice all the time.
Maybe it’s because she has had an insane amount of unnecessary plastic surgery, and then denies it.
Maybe it’s because she takes selfies of herself all the time like a 16 year old.
Maybe it’s because she uses her child like her mini me dress up doll.
Maybe it’s because she chooses to spend her time doing the things I listed here, when having ALL THAT MONEY and FAME, she could bring attention to social issues, volunteer, be a spokes person, do something good for this world.

No, she wants to be a vapid Barbie doll with extreme proportions, has succes and earns money doing so, and has insecure women and girls look up to that. THAT’S why educated sane people do not take her seriously.

  9. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She is so clueless. She works hard for FIVE MONTHS OF THE YEAR. Does she have any idea how many people work as many hours as she does for TWELVE months of the year, without benefit of maids, nannies, personal assistants, makeup and hair people, and they make barely enough money to get by? And she feels unappreciated?

And how DARE she compare the trash she puts out with I Love Lucy? Ugh.

    • Kiddo says:

After reading the headline, all I could hear was Will Ferrell’s (sp?) impersonation of Bush saying, “I’m working hard”.

    • HH says:

RE: her comparison to “I Love Lucy” – I don’t think she’s ever heard and/or understands the phrase “quality vs quantity”. Not a good comparison for her to bring up.

And yes, I’m side-eyeing her saying she works hard 5 months of the year. I’m sure other working mothers would kill for that schedule and the perks. She’s so ridiculous.

  10. HK9 says:

Muhhuhahahahaha. Thanks for my morning laugh.

  11. BeckyR says:

    What is there to respect?

  12. captain hero says:

I genuinely believe she thinks she works hard because she doesn’t actually know what hard work is.

  13. Talie says:

I work in marketing and her name always comes up at tech conferences and Social Media Weeks around the world. She has a mixture of respect and disdain in that world, but I think she’s earned the respect, even though most people think it should go to Cheban and Kris Jenner. I do think Kim, in the beginning, did a lot of her own social work. Now, it’s a monster that grows on its own.

    • littlestar says:

What has that human dingleberry Cheban done for her? Genuinely curious because that guy seems like nothing but a leech.

      • Talie says:

I’ve read that he stealthily manages all her social/PR/blog crap daily — that’s one of the reasons he is apparently always with her.

    • Momma says:

You have an truly bizarre notion of “social work.” That used to mean helping others. Now, apparently, it means Instagramming pix of your plastic butt to the world.

  14. otaku fairy says:

Even though I do think celebrities and entertainers probably work harder than we give them credit for, not when in the physical labor and low wages sense but in terms of time and energy, and keeping yourself ‘looking good’. I also think Kim and her family are shallow, overexposed reality stars, and that’s probably the biggest reason why they’re not taken seriously. It’s one of the reasons why I avoid Kardashian-related stuff 98 percent of the time. To be fair, I do think misogyny and sexuality-policing also play a role in peoples’ issue with Kim K and her ilk- this woman who has been sexual in ways people don’t approve of is everywhere instead of marginalized and unknown, so peoples’ negative feelings come out. I predict that that element will be revealed in the comments too. Another reason why I avoid Kardashian stuff. But for the most part it’s the vanity, obnoxiousness, and overexposure.

  15. Dawn says:

I can’t believe a word that comes out of her mouth. She is a liar and that is her one true talent. I doubt very much she gets up every single day at 6:00 am, I doubt very much that she feeds North every single day but I do believe she works very hard putting on those spanx so she can dress like a street walker. Again she hasn’t done a thing to earn respect. She did a sex tape that her mamma edited and re-released, she married the Hump for television ratings, and she got knocked up by little man KanYe while married to someone else who she refused to give an annulment too or return wedding gifts. Yep girl works real hard at scripted reality but everyone knows who she is and what she is willing to do for money. I have more respect for corner girls than I will ever have for the liar Kim Kardashian.

  16. NewWester says:

“get my daughter up and feed my baby” Should that be ” call the nanny to get my daughter up and feed my baby”?
I don’t see Kim rolling out of bed anytime before ten. Notice she says “we film all day” Kim probably films her scenes after three and finishes by six so she can call the paps and make Entertainment Tonite for seven

  17. greenmonster says:

Being filmed while crying over some short lived fake marriage or spending the life with going to fashion shows is NOT work!
She made a fortune out of a sex tape and oversharing (you could say having no integrity), while millions of other people actually go and work really hard. They don’t have time to work out in the morning, they don’t make millions of dollars each year and THEY don’t get the recognition they would deserve.

    • Crystal says:

Perhaps it’s more of a reflection of our society for what type of people gain notoriety, fame and fortune for the work they do. Remember, we are the ones who ALLOW people like Kim to become famous and wealthy. Kim is smart like a fox. Why hate her because she saw an opportunity and ran with it successfully? So many people complain about actors or people in the entertainment industry that they don’t have to work that hard… Yes, it’s different work than showing up to a factory or a hospital or a school, but it’s still work. It’s not as if you see the full scope of someone’s life in the entertainment industry. These people work very intensive hours, sure it’s not always year round for all of them, but for someone like Jennifer Aniston, it probably is for a good portion of the year. She does more than just on camera stuff and she churns out a fair amount of films each year as well as endorsements and promotional stuff. Also, travel IS exhausting! Haven’t any of you ever felt that you need a vacation after a vacation?

      • word says:

I wouldn’t say Kim is “smart like a fox”. I think her mother is behind Kim’s success. Kim’s mother is a hustler. Kim, on her own, would not have been as rich or famous if it wasn’t for her mom knocking on doors for her. Kim, at 19, decided to become a stay at home wife. Her mother saw an opportunity with the sex tape and that started the whole ball rolling. PMK is in charge of Kim’s life now, has been, and always will be.

      • KC says:

Crystal so much of what you said is true.
-Kim (influenced by her mum) saw an opportunity, took advantage and it’s still working for her. She’s savvy.
-Actors and people in the entertainment industry do different work from the rest of us and they DO work hard getting out those films and endorsements and promotional stuff.

However, that just points out that Kim is not famous for her reality tv but for her claim to fame which she doesn’t want to talk about. I get it, she’s moved on but 1-she still does “sell” BOTH her body and privacy she’s just more active and selective in parsing it out and 2- I really think she needs to just not talk about becoming famous or what she is famous for anymore. All that does is remind the rest of us of her beginnings. She needs to just drop that angle.

Kim is NOT primarily famous/paid for acting/entertainment in the way Jennifer or even Kanye is. She doesn’t have to put in the work of learning lines or lyrics when she “films all day” she just has to LIVE HER LIFE while being followed by cameras. Actors and other entertainers are not famous for actively filming their LIVES they actually DO something other than exist on camera. Yes she gets fame, interviews, events and endorsements for living her life on camera and for that she DOES have work ethic but she needs to take a dose of reality if she thinks her brand of reality tv is “work” for anyone actually being filmed.

Now as far as needing a vacation from a vacation-ha! I can’t AFFORD a vacation. I don’t get paid to go on vacation and make money from people following me with cameras while I’m on vacation. I need a vacation from life bc the closest thing I get to vacation is when I’m sick from work and then I don’t get paid! If she were sick she’d go to work or stay home and either way it’d be filmed and either way she’d be getting more money than I could hope to get in a year. :(. There’s the rub and my agreement that as a society this kind of “celebrity” should not be so successful.

  18. Jessica says:

I kind of agree. Yes her show is terrible, but that has nothing do do with her work ethic. We all know it’s scripted, it’s not like it’s a proper documentary about her regular life, so she has to learn her lines and show up to the set and do retakes and all of that. And even if you think she has zero behind-the-scenes involvement in any of her side projects, just promoting all of them is a job in itself.

    • KC says:

Learn her lines? Reshoot you say?
Hmmmm….Jessica you just made me reconsider whether she DOES work hard.

I still say that as a society it’s to our discredit that that reality tv level and quality of “hard work” could make one so famous and wealthy. 🙁

  19. DanaG says:

Yep she “works” for five months which includes ALOT of holidays in exotic locations fully paid for, going to get her nails done etc. She doesn’t learn a script how is living your life hard work? What does she do? And it’s an insult to Lucy and just about everyone else in the industry that she compares herself too. Kim wouldn’t know real work most people don’t have what she has and sorry I don’t buy for a minute she get’s North up and baths, dresses her and gives her breakfast etc. Just because she has made lot’s of money doesn’t mean she is talented in means she has great PR and the thing with having no actual talent is people will get bored sooner rather then later and in a couple of years I’m hoping we hear about Kim as often as we now of Paris Hilton who used to the Kim Kardashian of reality.

  20. grabbyhands says:

God, why can you just shut your cakehole and be happy that you were able to parlay your pee sextape into mega millions? Congratulations-you managed to dupe millions of people into tuning into your crappy reality show-quit pretending that being filmed, which you are doing VOLUNTARILY, is actual work. Neither is being paid to appear at different places around the world, or dealing with your videogame, which, let’s be honest-you probably have very little to do with aside from talking about it.

Why anyone gives this woman or anyone in her horrible family the time of day is beyond me.

  21. Gina says:

Comparing that garbage to I Love Lucy…seriously? She thinks and has said she is deserving of a star on the Walk of Fame. Sister, Ray J took a pee on you and it is documented in the cyber world for eternity. Take that one to the bank when you’re being so reflective of your hard work.

    • Nicole says:

Thanks for slut shaming Gina. It’s coming off as sour grapes.

Plenty of people have been peed on and posted their videos online. If that’s all she was famous for, there would be a lot more famous peed-on video stars out there.

      • Gina says:

I don’t know if you’re being serious, honestly. There’s plenty of people who have been peed on! LOL….you say that like it’s a cool thing. Okay then Nicole go on and stan for Kim, I’m just not that into her or her fame hungry, talent lacking, superficial family. Happy Hump Day to you.

      • me says:

        @ Nicole

Yeah but was it a sex tape with Brandy’s brother? Did they have a lawyer father involved in one of the most high profile murders of the century? Do they have a pimp for a mother? Did they leach off of Paris Hilton’s fame? There were a lot of circumstances that led to Kim’s tape being as successful as it was, NONE of which can be attributed to anything that Kim is…it’s more about who she was associated with at the time. Even her reality show would not have been a hit if it weren’t for her family’s crazy personalities. I have seen some of the show and Kim is by far the most boring one on the show.

      • Falkor says:

Nicole, labeling people who don’t agree with your views on a Kardashian as “slut shaming” minimizes the real misogyny that is taking place in the world daily. Ray-J pissed on Kim and it got her on the radar, these are basic facts. If you find it offensive, take it up with the Klan, I’m sure they’ll care deeply.

      • Gina says:

@Falkor: Damn I’d like to have you walking behind me all day long. I like your style….take that Nicole…

  22. Triple Cardinal says:

Yep, take after take after take of her trying on f@ck-me pumps. Yessir, it’s a tough gig.

Look, at some point, the show will be canceled. What ever will Kim and Co. do?

  23. Skins says:

Wow, what an “artiste” she is

  24. Lis says:

Why is she insisting on this garbage? Because she wants an Emmy? BWAHAHAHA!!!!

  25. Nikki says:

Seriously? Don’t compare yourself to LUCILLE BALL! She was an actor, producer, co-created Desilu Studios, and worked till she died. She paved the way for women comedians. Just. DONT.

    You got pee’d on.

    Okay, my rant’s over.

  26. Lisel says:

If you have ever seen her shows, you know they are scripted and fake, fake, fake. They plan situations and plot developments, they learn lines and they play characters based on themselves. They got in trouble a few years ago for filming reshoots and staging events. They have professional make-up, lighting, sets and costume changes. How exactly is this different than working on a sitcom? A crappy, awful sitcom, but a sitcom nonetheless. I think those Kardashian girls work as hard as TV stars. Whether or not that’s actually “hard” work is a different question.

  27. Spaniard89 says:

    “I work really hard”

Kim shut the f*** up already.

Signed: Everybody with a REAL, HARD work

  28. Katie says:

Yeah I think reality TV gets exactly the respect it deserves. The genre may have started with good intentions, but now it’s populated with money grubbing fame hounds who have no discernible talent and quite often lack intelligence. Granted not all reality shows are morally bankrupt. However, I can not feel sorry for Kim and her terribly busy filming schedule when they are families whose breadwinners work multiple jobs to keep food on the table, a roof over their heads and clothes on their backs while she is giving her baby diamonds and designer clothing. I would say the same about any celebrity who complains about how hard their life is, but it’s particularly disgusting for someone who has contributed absolutely nothing to art or society to be whining about not getting enough respect. Kim, if you want respect, earn it. Work at something of value, do something that makes a difference.

  29. sighhhh says:

I lurk on this site daily but rarely comment but I must say the high and mighty judgy towards kim k comments take the cake….. seriously?

She’s vapid trash? Not worthy of respect?

Most of you ladies need to reevaluate your comments. They reflect more upon you and how you assign and feel comfortable assigning worth to other human beings and women than anything kim k has done.

Never seen such a mob mentality in slut shaming, body shaming, parent shaming, makeup shaming just anything you can think of….people on here even say mean things about the shape of her vagina in her jeans… its ridiculous and gross to watch.

Kim has made only personal choices. ..you don’t have to agree with them one bit…but she never forced anyone to share in her world. I respect that she has made her money as a woman based off the things she cares about looks, men, relationship, family, travel, sex …. sounds like an interesting life. And to add to the fact of having no traditional Hollywood talent she has basically made most of her money off of the interest generated by those who dislike her….brilliant!

I’ll leave yall too it though…. back to calling her a deformed worthless woman and critiquing every aspect of her existence as somehow beneath the very same people who get on the internet and spew hatred for a woman they have never even met. Who’s really acting like trash??

  30. Jayna says:

Sitting around talking, going to lunch, having fake fights, gossiping on their reality show, that’s hard work? LOL Sign me up. Taking those daily pap walks dressed up to make the gossip sites is extremely tiring.

    • shanaynay says:

Seriously. Think of all the real people who didn’t grow up privileged and had to work from the ground up to get what they got. Getting up at 6 am TO GO TO AN ACTUAL JOB and come home at 8 or 9 pm is working hard. My mom raised three kids while my dad worked all day on his feet at his job with no assistants, no housekeepers, no nannies, no personal trainers or chefs. THAT’S working hard, Kimmy. You get no sympathy from me.

  31. word says:

Oh please how is getting your make-up done and walking around in designer clothes while cameras follow you for a few months out of the year really “hard work”? She needs to be quiet. Plus we all know she has nannies who take care of her child. She vacations 15 times out of the year and spends most of her time shopping. That is not what having a good “work ethic” means. This girl dropped out of community college for God’s sake. She doesn’t like doing anything that requires real work. The success of her game is because of the people who made it…she just lent her voice to it. Lastly, didn’t she say she lost her Blackberry last year and stated how she didn’t care to replace it as she’s no longer “hung up on technology” and how “being a mother really changes your priorities”? Now she’s saying she keeps 3 extra phones in her room. Also, how can anyone take her seriously when all she does is take pics of her fake butt and walk around with her boobs sticking out?

  32. Mrs. Wellen Melon says:

Why don’t more people respect Kim?
Because what feel like accomplishments to her don’t feel like accomplishments to many of us.

    • KC says:

      ^Spot on.
I won’t deny though, she is true to herself and values. SIGHHHH who highly defended her spoke truth-she found a way to get PAID off of what she’s interested in and values looks, money, men, fame. But right now the rest of the world hasn’t quite yet been demoralized to the point of jumping on board with those being valuable achievements or things to highly value.

I for one would respect her more if she’d just own her claim to fame for once and didn’t say ridiculous things like “I think when people hear I might have gotten famous off of my REALITY SHOW they take that as a negative”. I CANNOT take that seriously. I am either amused at her delusion/bad acting or insulted that she seems to have forgotten that we really know how she started out or is acting like the rest of the world has amnesia or got flashed with one of those MIB mind erase gadgets! Just don’t bring up how you got famous if you don’t want people to think of or remember how it really happened.

  33. mellie says:

Please, please, please stop talking about how hard you work. I’m sick to death of hearing it. Do we hear other real actors and actresses bemoaning the fact that they are working on a movie and have to exercise in the wee hours of the morning? Just stop it now, you sound like a big freaking baby as the people who sweat and toil 40-60 hour work weeks who read celebrity gossip for fun are completely turned off by your big freaking a$$… If you’d shut up, you’d get a tad more respect, not a lot, but a tad more…

  34. Tdub30 says:

The issue I have with Kim and the kardashian jenners as screw is this…you take socially unacceptable behavior and make it such. When I was growing up I had a slick mouth with my grandmother but NEVER would I have dreamed of speaking to her the way these people speak to their parents. Using some of the language these girls and women use with their parents just makes me shudder and I haven’t laid eyes on this show in at least five years. The entire crew males it okay through their many forums to lie, cheat and steal and then lie about doing that.

And regarding her tireless work ethic, let’s bring some perspective to this. Corner hustlers (or dope boys) are out from sun up to sun down and long thereafter. Should they be lauded for their awesome work ethic to? I mean, what are she and her family contributing to society that would cause anyone to dole out respect to them?

  35. K says:

Reality TV crews definitely do not get the respect or basic employee rights they deserve. Not so sure about the cast.

  36. Nicole says:

So… I play her video game. I play a girl with a wife in her video game. Her video game has more representation of inter-racial and homosexual relationships than any game that I’ve ever played. I like her and I like her stance on relationships.

    • swack says:

First of all it would be surprising if she DIDN’T allow interracial relationships. Second just because her game allows these relationships does not necessarily make her a good person. Not saying she isn’t a good person as I do not know her personally. Her values are WAY OFF. Money and material things do not equate to happiness and actions speak louder than words.

    • Falkor says:

Do you play many console video games or mostly mobile games? I’ve been a gamer nerd since childhood. LGBTQ characters and romances aren’t a particularly new development, nor are interracial relationships between characters. These advances in the world of gaming are about two console generations old. I do not play mobile games and am not very well versed on their history as a whole, so this may well be new development for mobile games. It didn’t start with Kim, but (even though I can’t stomach her) it is really a great thing that her game incorporates these relationships and continues to carry on that torch. That’s the one thing I can be grateful to her for, I suppose 🙂

    • jwoolman says:

Nicole- it’s not her game. She made a deal with the actual developers of an existing popular game to license her vague image for another edition. Easy money, since a certain percentage of players will pay to move forward in the game without waiting – but she’s very replaceable.

    • Kanye's Dimple says:

At face value the family seems like an example of tolerance, equality, etc, when it comes to race. But actually they fetishise “culture” and ethnicity. All those annoying teenagers now writing, talking, and instagramming with bad grammar thinking they’re being edgy and hipster, and adopting “black culture” which, according to their selfies, is nothing but wearing a lot of bling bling and swearing a lot. How vapid is Kanye West, seriously? He fancies himself an artist but what’s he really creating? And Kim, bless her soul, doesn’t even pretend on that level. She knows she’s stupid and is proud of being stupid. See Tina Fey’s comments on Paris Hilton. Spot on.

  37. Green Eyes says:

Closest comparison I see is between the “I love Lucy” show premise (not Lucille Ball) and Chris/Bruce Jenner. Chris is always scheming and “poor” Bruce is always trying trying to deal w/ her schemes or escape them… AND that is even a stretch to my imagination as The I Love Lucy Show was entertaining sadly Chris really is the way she portrays herself if not worse.

    • Gina says:

I love your comment because it shows you don’t know the Kardashians….that’s a good thing! All these tricks, including mama Kris, names begin with the letter K. Bruce is dating one of her former friends so who knows if he will be in their next and hopefully last season.

  38. me says:

Is there any reality tv star that has earned the “respect” of the public? Not really, so why is she begging for it?

  39. Melanie says:

This woman is such an a$$hole!

  40. Sally Tomato says:

I think the hardest thing she does as far as reality TV goes is to pretend she’s having a conversation. I’m 44 with four sisters and if you want to throw makeup on me with a trowel and expect me to carry on an “impromptu” (filmed) convo with said siblings for $$$ I promise you that I can do better than like talk about like what like E! like wanted me to like talk about.

  41. Sister Carrie says:

Actually, yes, Kim, reality television DOES get the respect it deserves. Which is nothing.

  42. Falkor says:

Just in the comments here you can see plenty examples of people white knighting for Kim and telling other commentators that speaking of the real reason she became known is totally misogynistic slut shaming. The Klan want the Ray-J stuff to go away & they’ve changed the narrative to say their show got them on the map. That is simply not the truth and you, me, god, and the kids all know it. Her mother made the “empire”, Kim does not have the mental capacity to handle a business. Kim is a puppet, that is her only job and she is stellar at it.

    • Kitten says:

I will never understand this misperception that feminism means defending and promoting even the most abbohrent behavior simply because we share the same gender.

Hell, if that was how things worked, then Palin would likely be president by now.

    • Peppa says:

Sometimes I wonder if people get off on white knighting for her because she is such an easy target. I don’t care for her or her family, but I certainly don’t hate her or think she is a maliciously evil woman. I wouldn’t go out of my way to defend her, though. I think it is just stating the obvious that her career started because her mom promoted that sex tape. Kim has obviously hustled for the past seven years, and is still relevant unlike Paris, but I wouldn’t say that is hard work necessarily. I just don’t understand the need to jump to her defense in the name of feminism (the same with Miley Cyrus).

    • Dawn says:

@Peppa, Paris is still very much relavent out in the rest of the world, perhaps not so much in the states but she out earns Kim easily. She has clothing stores, hotels and even made a few million last month by spinning records for a mere four days. And she didn’t have marry to make it so. I will take Paris over any Kardashian any day of the week. And I do think Kim is very much a maliciously evil woman…just ask Kris Humphries. But yes without her mother backing her every step she would still be a nobody.

  43. PHAKSI says:

There is a place for reality tv and the mindless entertainment she makes. Why doesn’t she just accept that

  44. ketjo says:

Respect has to be earn !!!!
You need to Respect others to get respect in return !!!
    R E S P E C T …all I need is a little respect..!!
Respect is nothing she has earned , deserves, or can command…….you can’t order others to respect anybody….especially yourself…..
So I respectfully say ….Shut Up all ready Kim ! The more you talk the more arrogant , stupid and infantile you sound…..

  45. nony says:

    LOL@kim kardashian

  46. little_blu says:

Hard to believe, but some people work those hours ALL YEAR LONG, she’s got seven months off from filming a year and she’s complaining?

  47. Chris says:

She obviously works very hard on maintaing her physical appearance. That’s all I’ve got.

  48. Kanye's Dimple says:

She, her husband, and her family represents the lowest of the the low. I can’t get over how stupid they are but what’s worse is that they actually have an audience. Her try-hard “ghetto” style is obnoxious. She and Kanye actually think they have a point; they think they’re giving “ethnics” more crediblity with their “style” and attitude. Dumbest people on the planet.

  49. girlnbayou says:

Oh my gawd. I MISS my blackberry so much. For real.

Something about the feeling of real buttons just does it for me.

  50. mightymouse says:

    Overrated dumb and boring

  51. Joh says:

Years ago Kris was interviewed about her friend Nicole’s murder and
The rumor that Robert Kardashian helped distort evidence, and Kris SWORE that Robert would NEVER do that!
That is what put the Kardashians in the public eye, THAT is why the sex tape took off.
THAT is when the brand was born.
So I guess Kim puts in the hours so is that work?
Beats working in a donut shop!

  52. BlackBetty says:

The real brains behind it is Kris. Kim just follows mummy’s orders.
