Lindsay Lohan is ‘doing better’ & she’s ‘determined to be a movie star again’

Here are some photos of Lindsay Lohan out and about in London two weekend ago, plus some other photos I just never got around to posting, including some pics of Lindsay at a makeup event last week (those pics are at the end of the post). To her credit, Lindsay hasn’t been getting pap’d very often in the past month. I have a theory about that! I think she was partying pretty hard in rehearsals for Speed-the-Plow and then she partied hard the first few weeks of the show. But she couldn’t deal with the schedule or the parties, so she actually made the choice to not party as much. Amazing, right? Well, what if this is a whole new Cracken? Radar’s sources say that Lindsay has been doing so well in London, she wants to come back to LA and relaunch her film career. Er… good luck with that.

Is Lindsay finally ready to make a career comeback? The actress will soon be returning to the U.S. when her London play Speed-the-Plow closes on Nov. 29 — and she’s thinking about her next steps in life.

“Lindsay is doing better than she has in years!” a close friend of the once-troubled star tells RadarOnline.com exclusively. “Lindsay is determined to be a movie star again.”

“Lindsay plans to return home to her family in New York for a bit and is then heading to L.A. because she has three big movies that she is getting ready to star in,” the source reveals.

According to IMDB, Lohan is playing the lead in three several projects listed as in ‘pre-production.’ In the upcoming films Soul Carriers and Life Travelers, Lohan will star opposite James Duvall, 42, and in Six Gun Dead, she will play opposite Eric Roberts, 58.

“She almost has a clean slate after all of her legal issues,” the source notes, referring to her probation in the necklace theft case, which an L.A. Superior Court judge ended on Nov. 6. Following the court’s decision, Lohan’s attorney Shawn Holley said, “The judge was pleased, the prosecutors were pleased and of course I’m pleased that Lindsay’s doing well on probation, with her career, and generally with her life.”

As Radar previously reported, those close to the 28-year-old Mean Girls star insist that “the old Lindsay is back” and that “she has allowed all of her old friends back into her life.”

“She is still sober and we are all very supportive,’ the friend tells Radar. “We always will be.”

[From Radar]

Legally speaking, I think the state of California was just tired of dealing with her crack drama, so everybody turned a blind eye and let Lindsay complete her probation period without fulfilling all of the requirements. As for Lindsay returning to a career in films… at this point, she’s been a cracked-out mess longer than she was ever an A-list actress, and Lindsay pretty much thinks she’s going to be a huge movie star again every three to six months. She’s still talking about winning an Oscar someday, you know. But… if she is doing better (judge for yourself), then God bless. While I don’t think she’s in a good place or anything, I think she’s better right now than she was two or three years ago.

I just…she doesn’t look good at all if you ask me. She has the face of a very sick person.

    • NewWester says:

      She looks 38 not 28

    • Telicity says:

Before I saw the headline I thought it was a photo of Bruce Jenner. :\

    • homegrrrl says:

We don’t truly know what -any- celeb really looks like. Her ream just can’t afford to submit airbrushed photos.

    • JenniferJustice says:

Usually that kind of face bloat comes from prolonged use of certain prescription drugs. I don’t beleive she’s ever sober for a moment. She may legit b/c she has scrips, but she’s still on drugs. I won’t body shame b/c y’all won’t let me, but she is not built well – drugs or no drugs. I really wish she would just go back to school and drop out of sight, get a regular job, and be healthy. Sick of her insistance on being a star. She can’t handle it and nobody wants her.

    • Tinytown says:

      Coke bloat

  2. Miffy says:

But she still did terribly in that play, didn’t she? Forgetting lines, having to carry the script around on stage, generally being laughed at… and none of that was due to her partying? Oy, its been grossly over estimated what sobriety was going to do for her.

    Good luck, Lilo.

    • Lucrezia says:

The reviewers weren’t exactly raving about her, but they were generally positive. (I got the feeling some of them were disappointed that it wasn’t a train wreck.)

I’m not sure about the “carrying the script around” accusation. I think that’s a misunderstanding. The opening night reviews said she needed to be prompted once, but didn’t mention carrying the script around. However, a large chunk of the character’s lines have her reading aloud from a book. I’ll bet some people thought it was a weird work-around for Lohan, when it’s really just the normal staging of the play.

      • Lex says:

People look for any way to be unreasonable Lucrezia. They don’t want your logic here! Yes Linds forgot sone lines but her costar did too on opening night!

    • Annie says:

The general consensus is that she didn’t exactly do brilliantly but she was quite good – which is about as good as can be reasonably expected considering she’s been neglecting her talent for 10 years. I *can* see her making a genuine comeback to be fair, just not as this Monroe/Taylor type figure she seems to fancy herself as. She’s ruined her looks/body/reputation too much for that. She needs to aim more for gritty or quirky character roles.

    • Madisyn says:

Blohan was STILL being ‘prompted’ as of last week. The book being carried is a prop for the play but also has her script in it and she’s STILL missing her lines. She also missed another performance Monday due to what we all assume is a HANGOVER. Typical Blo. . . .

  3. ketjo says:

A addict is always “going to do better” this time…….She has never stopped partying and working for 3 whole months is not a big of a deal she did that with Liz and Dick and still keep her habits up…..She wants to come home because basically the well has run dry in England……No more work offers, no more freebies at Chilton Firehouse…..Andreas has cut her off again like he did at the Chateau Marmont…yes its owned by her former lover./pimp…..the play is over and they will no longer pay the rent on her apartment so she has to come home……as fro being a movie star …those “movies ” if ever get made will never make it to the big screen …Sci Fi Channel or direct to sale at the discount 5 dollar bin…..

    • Jem says:

Agree with e everything u said. To an addict, ‘sobriety’ is relative. ‘Doing better’ could simply mean she’s gone from fall-down, messy drunk to hiding it better and switching substances.

  4. Bex says:

Isn’t it generally accepted that her acting days are over (except when bankrolled by a ‘friend’)? Could it be said that what she has succeeded at is finding men who pay for her very expensive lifestyle?

    • Jem says:

She didn’t get that memo. Somebody stole it, no doubt.

    • FingerBinger says:

Lindsay thinks she’s Robert Downey Jr. Someone who was on drugs, got in trouble and then made a comeback. She doesn’t realize she’s not as talented as RDJ.

    • Dutch says:

Judging by the two co-stars mentioned both those roles scream “direct to video”

  5. Mia4S says:

Reports have said attendance at the play was so light they don’t even open the balcony. If (IF!) she’s coming back to do movies it’s the Mischa Barton-every-C-list-movie-I’m-offered route. Well….it’s rent.

  6. OriginallyBlue says:

She’s wearing a bra, so there’s that. She still looks pretty rough and I really can’t see her making a huge comeback, but maybe she will prove people wrong.

  7. paola says:

    3..2..1.. aaaaaand action!
‘I am determined to be a movie star again!’

    Stooooooop!
Lindsay dear.. You’ve said this same thing a thousand times before.. no one is going to believe it.

  8. Joanne_S says:

“she has allowed all of her old friends back into her life”

    Those lucky bitches, right?

  9. lucy2 says:

It’s too late – she destroyed her career, her reputation, and her appearance, and has not really proven herself as some great talent the world must have. Aside from stunt casting, I can’t see why the film industry would want to let her back in. There are so many other actresses who don’t come with all that baggage (filled with stolen goods).
I hope she gets clean and sober, I really do, but I just don’t see a film career resurgence happening.

    • chaine says:

I could see her getting some “character” roles. Like the lead character’s meth head sister who lives in a run-down shack in the woods and gets killed off in the first 15 minutes, and then he has to solve her murder by going undercover to investigate her sleazy biker gang friends.

      • JenniferJustice says:

She would be vying for the same parts as Traci Lords. I think I’d rather clean toilets in a hotel.

  10. Kiddo says:

    Suspenders. Oy. That is all.

  11. Tiffany27 says:

I thought this was Bruce Jenner.

  12. PixieWitch says:

at this point she should just be “determined” to stay clean and sober (or get clean and sober) and see if the career follows.

  13. scout says:

She looks 80! Perils of bad choices and lifestyle.

  14. whatsmyname? says:

She should focus on being sober and maybe doing small films. And how is it a good idea to allow all of her old friends back into her life? Aren’t they part of the problem?

    • Bess says:

Agree with you about the “old friends”. Didn’t the Cracken and her family blame her problems on the bad influences in her life?

      • Madisyn says:

The problem with the ‘old friends’ schtick, is it matters not if she’s in LA, NYC, or London, HER behavior and attitude have stayed consistent. Blo is the common denominator. . . .

  15. LAK says:

I’m just amazed she’s wearing a bra. Hallelujah! Maybe her girls can be rescued.

  16. serena says:

Her face is so bloated.. ugh, I can’t look at her. Drug abuse and fillers/botox made her face look like a 40years old. And she’s still 28! I can’t believe it.

  17. Mica says:

Stay sober and do some small independent films, and stop messing with your lips!

  18. M. says:

Not with that face, honey, not with that face.

  19. Rusty machine says:

What in the heezy is she wearing? The skirt, pantyhose, nude sheer top, awful bra?!?!?!? I can’t. The suspenders and ill-fitting pants are bad, but the other outfit is a bigger mess.

  20. Mop top says:

A comeback? That ship sailed long ago.

  21. RN says:

That may be her wish, but who honestly wants to watch her and listen to her for two hours? She’s ruined her looks and her voice. Because of that, it would be impossible for her to slip into a character. One would always be reminded that it’s Lindsay you’re watching.

  22. betsyd says:

Multiple pictures with what looks to be a diamond engagement ring. Her dreadful outfit, and face, seem to distract from that little gem.

  23. Byte Me says:

Seriously? She still looks pretty wasted to me.

  24. Pegasus says:

I got a great belly laugh from her outfit! She’s squeaky clean as a rubber ducky if she’s voluntarily wearing that mess!

  25. Bobby the K says:

She’s one of those ‘artists’ who, despite a lack of talent, professionalism and maturity still gets work and media attention.
She will get a job somewhere and will promptly become ‘difficult’ on set and show disrespect to hard working co-workers. It’s her thing.
Even if she does clean-up, her personality remains.
Beyond me why producers fall for this nonsense over and over again from over paid hacks like her.

  26. The Original G says:

Ah….when someone says “The old Lindsay is back,” that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, does it?

  27. Bread and Circuses says:

She has seemed to be doing better, in the sense that she has apparently been showing up to work — and stage work is not easy for someone who has trouble being dependable.

She isn’t looking healthy, though. I hope it’s because she went off Adderall rather than because she’s got coke/booze bloat again. I would really, really like this (ten-zillionth) time to be the one where she actually sobers up and gets her life on track.

Movies, though, no. She might have a future as a character actress, but she’ll never be the glamorous star again. She’s damaged her looks and voice too much.

    • Bess says:

Lindsay thinks she’s leading lady material. She probably thinks she can compete with Emma Stone for roles.

  28. Ravensdaughter says:

One day at a time, Lindsay. Every AA group in the world recites that during the course of their meetings.

  29. Sara says:

If shen were truly getting sober, you wouldnt be hearing about her making a comeback as it takes years of intense therapy and not giving a shit about Hollywood to truly get sober.
