Chris Pine sings some Frank Sinatra for his Pine Nuts: awesome or awful?

Bearded Chris Pine is my favorite Pine, but these photos will do. These are pics of Chris from last week’s LA premiere of Horrible Bosses 2. I think his hair looks stupid, but otherwise… I still have something of a crush on him. It’s not full-blown obsession or anything, but I have a general warmth towards him and I think he’s attractive and charming (and he has terrible taste in girlfriends). In addition to his part in HB2 (which I sort of assume was just for the money), he’s also got a singing part in Into the Woods. He plays Cinderella’s Prince (that the name given on IMDB). So, when he appeared on The Ellen Show, he ended up singing like Frank Sinatra to one of his fans, a Pine Nut.

You can see a high-quality video here, but here’s a YouTube clip… if you want to just hear him sing “Summer Wind” skip ahead to the 3-minute mark.

I’m not saying he has a BAD voice. He doesn’t. And hey, it’s a lot better than my singing voice. But is his voice really, like, musical-quality? I’m really asking. I’m asking because Pine knew he’d have to sing for Ellen and it just doesn’t seem like his voice is as strong as it should be.

Chris also says he’s single now! He and his girlfriend, Icelandic beauty queen Íris Björk Jóhannesdóttir, are done. Huh.

Yeah, I’d be happy if he sang that for me! He’s sexy!

I don’t know how I feel about Chris Pine. I guess ambivalent. He seems very sweet to his fans and doesn’t have any real controversy around him. He does nothing for me on the attractiveness scale, but that’s personal taste. I prefer the brits.

On topic to the article, its cute that he sang for a fan. gold stars Mr. Pine, gold stars.

I like him as a person, but he’s too pretty for my taste.
Wow, so many comments on this thread 😀

Early reviews have said he’s one of the highlights of Into the Woods and really great in it. Good for him!

I will say I was relieved to read somewhere else that the hair is for a movie. It’s…unflattering.

Hahahaha Pine Nuts! I have never heard that before. It is an amazingly awful nickname for his fans.

I like Chris Pine. I agree with you- he has a warmth about him. He is also seems smart, and he also appears nerdy. All things I love. so I always wish him success.

I hope he is good in Into the Woods- I am a little worried. It is my favourite musical and I feel some doubt about his casting, Johnny’s casting, and even Meryl Streep’s casting.

As to Pine’s looks here- I hate the hair and I miss bearded Pine. Pine with beard and glasses is my favourite Pine.

Streep is incredible, and I saw Bernadette Peters in the role onstage. I always forget that she can sing, and as she’s an amazing actress, at least The Witch will be great.

Pine is autotuned. The real surprise is Emily Blunt – her voice may be sweetened too, but she sounds pretty good. She and James Corden are strangely terrific together – but again, I always forget that Britain is a nation of singers.

never found him attractive – weird face. This is the final nail in the coffin

He’s intelligent and well-educated. While he does nothing for my naughty bits, he seems like a great dinner partner.

Good for him for singing. Hiddles cant be the only one going nuts for his fans!

  8. Lori says:

His dui in New Zealand still grosses me out. Im assuming thats what ended his last relationship as she was with hom at the time?

I have such a soft spot for this guy. Yeah, he’s a complete modelizer, and sometimes I wish I *didn’t* like him… and yet, here I am. I will be catching Into The Woods and Horrible Bosses just because I think he *is* a good actor and I like looking at him. 🙂
