Sarah Palin appeared on ‘Today’ and her crazy word salad was epic

palin2

As we covered yesterday, Sarah Palin jump-started some kind of insane and stupid fight with PETA because she posted some Facebook photos of her son Trig standing on their dog, Jill Hadassah. The controversy wasn’t limited to PETA, by the way. People commented on Palin’s Facebook page, and all of the internet, basically saying that parents should teach their children that it’s not okay to stand on animals. PETA did make a statement, basically saying the same thing. Which led to a magnificent word salad Facebook post from Palin, attacking PETA. This is the dumbest controversy, and Sarah Palin is milking it for everything. I guess she wanted some attention? In any case, Palin scored an invite to spew her brand of crazy on the Today Show this morning. Here’s the video:

Sarah Palin’s still got a bone to pick with PETA. The Fox News contributor lashed out at the animal rights group yet again Tuesday on Today, beginning by reiterating “there was no harm at all” done to dog Jill Hadassah when 6-year-old Trig stood on the pup’s back.

The labrador retriever is “a strong, trained dog,” said Palin, noting that the service canine “really, really love(s)” her Trig, who has Down syndrome. She explained Monday in a statement to NBC News that Jill “was born and trained [by the Puppy Jake Foundation] to help those with challenges most of us will never understand”—like those faced by her special needs son.

The former governor of Alaska pointed out once again that Ellen DeGeneres, PETA’s Woman of the Year in 2009, posted a similar picture of a young child standing on a dog. “The outcry there was ‘oohs’ and ‘has’ and [that’s] sweet,” Palin said. She also took issue with New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, PETA’s Man of the Year for 2014. “He had just—doggone it!—he killed a groundhog when he dropped it last year on Groundhog Day!”

“It’s absolutely hypocritical that [PETA’s] double standards apply to, I don’t know, perhaps a constitutional conservative,” Palin added.

When asked whether mentioning that President Barack Obama admitted to having eaten dog as a child was a “cheap shot,” Palin replied emphatically, “Heck no…President Obama, too many of the far left radicals who are part of the PETA, they look at him as, I don’t know, their messiah! I think he as a child, probably the same age as Trig, did much worse than just use the dog as a stepping stool.”

Palin, who said said she agrees with “what I hope is the true meaning of [PETA’s] mission—respecting God’s creation and critters,” was asked whether she’d consider “smok(ing) the peace pipe” with the organization. This got a laugh out of the mom of five, who said she didn’t think most PETA members “would put up with what I believe in,” including practices like hunting and eating meat.

“But, I believe there would be mutual respect and support if we can both agree that, yeah, God’s creation here is really precious, very sacred and we should do all we can to conserve,” she said.

[From E! News]

“It’s absolutely hypocritical that their double standards apply to, I don’t know, perhaps a constitutional conservative.” ??? Girl, is your word salad being written by Joel and Ethan Coen?! She had to drag Bill de Blasio into it, and every other liberal dog-stander, groundhog killer and animal-eater. This whole thing makes no sense, but maybe I’m the crazy one because I’m looking for logic in an Sarah Palin interview. She’s just trying to get some attention.

What about the ratty rug with binding tape falling off? Classy!

      • Fan says:

I am not a SP fan for sure. But everyone should back off on the dog picture. They have a service dog who is trained to help her son with Down Syndrome.

    • Josephine says:

I’m offended by the bizarre off-the-shoulder thing she is wearing for a tv appearance where I assume she wants to be taken seriously.

But I’m most offended that the Today show gave her tv time at all, let alone for something so stupid.

    • Janet says:

I’m offended that I share a nationality with this idiot.

    • Kcarp says:

Holy cow I was about to say for someone who has made some big bucks their house looks cheap. Like a weekend cabin rental on some lake or something.

    • Megan says:

I look at her and I wonder if she is for real or if this is just some really exquisite performance art.

  2. Jaderu says:

5 days before the Golden Globes.
Ha. Tina Fey will annihilate her.

    • Esmom says:

It would be epic for sure. But part of me wishes no one would give her any more attention whatsoever.

    • Kiddo says:

Gosh darn, shucks -a-roo, GOD GOD GOD critters, dogone it, LIBERALS OBAMA THE PETA THE SONY THE NY MAYOR EVERYONE IS THE PETA ..SO FURIOUS NO ONE SAID CUTE TO ME ARRGGHHH, I’m on TVveeeeeeeeeeeee again, yipeeeeee!!!!

    • smcollins says:

OMG, I hope so! That would be awesome. I’m so psyched about her and Amy Pohler hosting again. They should host every year, imo. 😉

OMG, I hope so! That would be awesome. I’m so psyched about her and Amy Pohler are hosting again! They should host every year, imo. 😉

  3. Esmom says:

Is there a way to indicate jaw dropping speechlessness via keyboard?

STILL she cannot own up to any responsibility in the matter. And speculating that President Obama likely did “much worse” when he was a kid? She just never, ever, ever stops.

    • Kitten says:

      It’s all so embarrassing.

She’s like a Kate Gosselin–just a really abrasive, defensive, unlikable person.

      • QQ says:

OH MY GOD! Kitten you SO hit me on who’s Vibe she’s been giving me all along , That other Polished turd of a Woman, Kate Gosselin!!! just shrill dismissive defensive and just the “mean to petty” simmering right under the surface

…and then those twee ass curls

      • Kiddo says:

I still see her as a perfect match for Charlie Sheen.

      • Esmom says:

OMG, she is the perfect match for Charlie Sheen.

      • Tiffany :) says:

YES, she is a Gosselin! That comparison is so fitting.

    • doofus says:

“And speculating that President Obama likely did “much worse” when he was a kid?”

seriously…essentially accusing the sitting President of animal cruelty?…how F-ing LOW is this woman?! I wish she would just GO AWAY and that no one would give her a platform, but part of me is glad that the American public is being constantly reminded that the GOP leadership thought that SHE would be a good VP (and next in line for the Presidency).

      • Tiffany :) says:

It is really gross of her to stoop so low. She has no integrity.

I agree that it is a good thing that we are reminded about choices in political candidates and what her selection signifies. We need higher standards in candidates.

      • Darkladi says:

WHEN will her Lord Lucifer call her home!

      • wolfpup says:

It’s easy to see why her party has a hard time getting anything done in Congress. She is such a good example of their completely combative nature toward liberals and progressives. She’s changed her “tea party” name to “constitutional conservative” messing up the stew with more ideological confusion. They need to just come out, and say they are for banks, big business and smaller government control of those. They also believe that man owns the planet, because “God gave it to them (complete with a curse), which gives them justification for it’s continued plunder. Socially, they would like to cut the safety net programs for the elderly and poor. They are racist in my opinion, and the Southern Bible belt produces a lot of them. They do not believe in things like gay marriage, and seek to control a woman’s womb. These are things that Republicans believe in – contentiously!

      • Cowbulls says:

Obama in his autobiography stated that he ate dog as a child. I think that would be worse than standing on a dog.

      • doofus says:

Yes, Cowbulls, he did. if you didn’t know, dog is eaten in a large portion of the world but not in the US as it’s considered taboo, just like cow is eaten in the US and other parts of the world but not in India as the cow is sacred and eating it is taboo. In England, they sell horse meat for human consumption but, again, taboo in the US.

the prez was living in a different country with his mother and stepfather and consumed a few things he had never tried before, including dog as well as snakes and insects. to equate a child, living in a foreign country, eating local staples to a grown woman who SHOULD KNOW BETTER about what is the right and wrong way to treat a dog is bogus. oh, and no, he didn’t say he liked it. the only thing he said about it was that it was “tough”.

        come up with something better.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I know! Why can’t she just say “I never intended to imply that it’s a good idea for a child to stand on a dog, and in retrospect, I shouldn’t have posted that picture. I’ll have a talk with my son to be sure he understands that it’s not ok.” End of story. Take some responsibility. Stop blaming PETA and Obama and whoever. Just admit you made a mistake and move on. Gaaaah!!!

      • Esmom says:

Yes, a million times yes. Although if she actually did say what you said with even a fraction of your articulateness (is that a word?) and humility, I would probably faint dead away.

    • FLORC says:

But we should. This woman should not be given such a platform. Her undoing will come at her own hands. That Palin brawl came from having too muuch down time away from the media light. Let’s go back to that and ignore her. You can’t reason with someone who doesn’t understand logic.

    • Lady D says:

Esmon, I believe the word gobsmacked was created to adequately cover “jaw-dropping speechlessness”

      • Esmom says:

Lol, you’re right, it’s perfect. I need to incorporate that in conversation more often.

  4. The Original Original says:

Please teach your children its not okay to stand on animals.
    The end.

    • bettyrose says:

But if she does that, Obama wins.

      • Jules says:

Bettyrose, you won the internet today.

      • Tiffany :) says:

        Great comment, bettyrose!

Sadly, I don’t think she realizes the game is already over. She is standing in an empty stadium on field by herself, doing her victory dance for crossing a goal line that no one else cares about.

  5. minx says:

    I despise this woman.

    • Janet says:

I fervently wish somebody would duct-tape her to a floating iceberg and set it loose on a southbound current.

      • MediaMaven says:

with global warming, she’d be back in 6 months. Oh wait, there is no global warming…….nevermind. *eyeroll*

      • Janet says:

Hopefully the iceberg would melt before it reached the 45th parallel.

  6. Neelyo says:

I refuse to watch that video because her voice gives me seizures, but in the still she looks so thrilled to be back on TV. ‘Somebody still cares about me!!!’

And I think it still drives her nuts that Obama never acknowledges her or anything she does.

    • Belle Epoch says:

NEELYO I really think that’s what her screeching is always about. She DESPERATELY wants attention from Obama and he won’t play.

There is a special place in hell for this evil contemptuous divisive uneducated lying irresponsible bloodthirsty strung-out hyper-agitated sex-starved totally-addled reptile.

      • Katy says:

Belle Epoch – HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I LOVE your description of her. That was perfect!!!!

      • doofus says:

“There is a special place in hell for this evil contemptuous divisive uneducated lying irresponsible bloodthirsty strung-out hyper-agitated sex-starved totally-addled reptile.”

best description of a person since Franklin Hart in “9 to 5”.

      • Aerincraig says:

Lol, Belle Epoque, tell us how you really feel 🙂

    • lucy2 says:

You are totally right. I swear half the stuff she does is just for the media attention and chance to cry victim (the other half is because she’s a bad combo of stupid and crazy). And she SOOOO desperately wants Obama to engage in her immature BS – forgetting of course that he won the election and actually has a job to do.

  7. Lilacflowers says:

Curious as to whether she has actually read the Constitution.

  8. GingerCrunch says:

She’s obviously the one with challenges most of us will never understand. I could spew so many politically incorrect epithets at this idiot.

  9. Birdix says:

Haven’t really been following this–but is the Ellen thing true? Could she (wincing) have a point?

    • DarkSparkle says:

She has a slight point, as Ellen did post a pic of a little toddler girl standing on a dog to brush her teeth and got very little hate. I am not good with kid ages, but the girl looked a good deal younger than 6, the age of Sarah Palin’s son. She was much smaller than Trig. (I googled “Ellen standing on dog” and it came up)

The way “the right” is trying to spin this is that Palin is attacked because she is a conservative while Ellen is a liberal so she’s left alone. While that arguement does hold a little bit of water (although I honestly think it’s more that people just love Ellen rather than party affiliation) the disconnect in the spin is that Ellen posted a random picture that’s not her child, Sarah Palin posted a picture of her son that she presumably took/was near. Stop taking photos of it and get your damn kid off the dog. It’s not “cute” it’s irresponsible. I know Trig is special needs, I know that’s his service dog, and I am sure they have a great, special bond, but it’s not okay for kids to stand on dogs. The bigger the kid, the worse it gets. That’s my take on it, anyway.

I am a mastiff owner (his name is Turtle) and I have made more than one kid cry and more than one parent upset when I wouldn’t “give them a ride on the dog.” My dog is 180 lbs and 9 years old, no you can not sit on his back. I don’t care if your mom said you could. Also tangential, but the amount of kids that run up and try to pet the dog without asking is RIDICULOUS. Grown men cross the street, but Jenny McSweatsuit squawks “AUMAHGOD LOOK AT THAT BIG DOGGIE KIDS GO PET HIM! LET ME GET A PICTURE!” Just, no. I watched Turtle snatch an ice cream cone out of a little girls hand that wandered up to him at the park. The mom started to lose her sh*t, and said “could’ve been her arm. Maybe you should get a leash too.”

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Turtle sounds wonderful. Good for you for protecting him. I had a Westie, and when she was a couple of years old, a friend with two young girls came over to our house, and they were pulling on her and poking her. I tried to politely correct them and say “be gentle,” etc., but I didn’t say enough because I didn’t want to hurt my friend’s feelings. I have always regretted it. Our dog hated children after that and would growl at them if they came too close. I don’t think she ever would have bitten one, but I couldn’t take that chance, so I just told Jenny MsSweatsuit that, no, the kids couldn’t pet the doggie, she wasn’t great with kids. And I got looks of revulsion, but what could I do? I never should have allowed them to scare her to begin with. I really let her down. So you stick to your guns because you’re right.

      • mayamae says:

My mom had a little black dog that looked like a mix between poodle and dachshund. He bit most people he encountered – including me. One day I was walking him at the park and a pack of children descended on us. I couldn’t pick him up without being bitten in the excitement, so the dog and I sprinted to the car. I felt like an idiot.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

That made me laugh, mayamae. What else could you do? Lol

    • Tippy says:

Yup, she brings up some valid points and exposes PETA’s liberal bias.

As such I doubt that PETA will reply.

    • Veronica says:

The media definitely has a liberal bias outside of Fox, and I do think it was blown out of proportion, but she’s just digging her own hole with this one. If it’s really not that big of a deal, then act as such and laugh it off on Twitter. It’s the fact that she drives it into melodrama is what turns people off. Dragging Obama into it is just stupid, and frankly, I can’t tell you how much it skeeves me that she basically stated a black man must have been an awful child who abused animals or worse, particularly in a country where black children are often viewed as detrimental to society.

      • Kiddo says:

PETA is not the media, for one. Secondly, the ‘media’ is largely a corporate driven/financed conglomerate at this point, not exactly the voice of the people, or some socialistic or populist propaganda-engine, to be clear. Fox news is HARD RIGHT. The rest of the corporate media, aside from Fox, do manage for the most part, to present a ‘socially’ liberal perspective, but mostly because they want to SELL to everyone. There is nothing radically liberal about the media, barring independent outlets. In fact, there is nothing radically liberal about the Democrats, they are corporatists through and through, as well.

PETA has an agenda to produce shock-value, and gain traction in getting attention; the most bang for their buck, or without money at all. Sarah Palin is a loose cannon who offers reality TV level of clusterf__kery and verbal defecation to the nth degree. She is a polarizing figure in this country, and is disliked by the vast majority of both liberal and conservative voters. She is only the darling of the radical right, at this point, and she is always good for an overreacting spew.

Do you think PETA calling out anyone else, would have driven someone else to have lost their sht about this entire fiasco the way that she did? Mission accomplished PETA, and mission accomplished Palin for getting all the free publicity no one wanted from either.

      • Veronica says:

Kiddo – I am aware of all that. I’m not saying her notion of a radicalized liberal agenda is correct, merely that PETA is going to play softball and go for its widest audience – mostly people who identify with liberal policies.

Palin herself remains a self-involved, undereducated, histrionic moron who will do anything to remain relevant. Just because I acknowledge that the media has become increasingly partisan doesn’t mean I think her entire world salad is valid.

  10. bettyrose says:

WTF does Obama have to do with this? Has he weighed in on this issue at all??

    • Insomniac says:

She’s just mad because he won’t give her the time of day.

    • Jules says:

Isn’t always about Obama when any of these asshats can’t take responsibility for their actions? It’s the same childish argument that CHILDREN use (well everyone else is doing it!) She probably posted that photo on purpose for the reaction she got. And the media laps it up. She is a class A troll. And not aging well.

      • Christin says:

The outside is matching the inside.

      • doofus says:

re: the not aging well thing…

when I saw the first still picture from the video, all I could think of was “meth-face”.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Isn’t it crazy that the former VP candidate from the “Personal Responsibility” party (cough) can’t take ownership of her actions? Ever!

She’s like Donald Trump in that she will name drop people completely unrelated just to get better headlines. She is so desperate for attention.

      • Jules says:

        doofus,

She was mayor of the meth capital of Alaska.

      • doofus says:

Jules, after I posted that, I realized exactly that! makes ya wonder…

and wasn’t her grandchild’s OTHER grandmother arrested for dealing?…

      • Mackenzie Warshington says:

        I’m thinking Ritalin.
        And lot of it.

      • doofus says:

lol..is that your Adele Dazeem name?

    • Rhiley says:

Exactly. If she had stuck to the Ellen Degeneres bit then she may have had kind of a valid point but typical Palin, she just saturates everything until there is nothing left.

      • Kori says:

Yes she should have left it there. It was an actual bit of hypocrisy on PETAs part and fair game. But she can never resist the opportunity to just pile on. I’m really surprised she hasn’t taken the tack of trying to say any criticism is somehow aimed at her son and is shaming those with Down Syndrome. Maybe that’s a step too far.

And the description of her up thread? Perfection.

    • Teri says:

She invokes the name Obama the way some people blame Satan for everything that ever happens. If something bad happens, it’s Satan’s influence. If they do something bad, the Devil made them do it. No personal responsibility. I wonder if she realizes just how much power she is ascribing to the President by blaming him for everything.

  11. aims says:

I hate Sarah Palin. I just watched a Doc about her. She’s always been the mean girl with the thinking of, “if we disagree then you’re my enemy. ” even in high school. I cannot believe people follow her. She even ahead of Cheney on my evil list. Uggg make her go away!!

    • FingerBinger says:

I don’t hate her but I’m happy she never became my vice president. I’ll take crazy uncle Joe over her any day.

    • Wren33 says:

My feelings exactly. As much as a disagree with the politics of Bush I or Bush II, I can’t imagine either one of them going on these crazy, junior high rants. Some people lap it up, but she just seems so unprofessional.

    • Kiddo says:

No, the evil penguin war monger without a heart is MUCH worse.

      • Tiffany :) says:

He actually has power and influence, so his evil ways have serious consequence. She is an annoying fly. Irritating, but harmless.

Sometimes, I think that Dick Cheney models his behavior on Mr. Burns. Or his interviews, at the very least.

      • Kitten says:

        Cheney is my number one.
I think I’ve told this story before around here but…

I recently had the opportunity to watch GW Bush and Bernanke speak at a conference–Bernanke was incredibly sharp and interesting and Bush was, dare I say it, funny and endearing, if a bit bumbling.

Cheney was the keynote speaker at a conference I attended a couple years ago and I flat-out refused to attend.

A colleague who attended said that he was completely “crazy”, like a total wack-job, which isn’t surprising. Also, the misdeeds of this man are starting to show on his face, and his body. He looked like a shell of a human when I saw him being wheeled around at the conference–like Mr. Burns in a wheelchair.

There aren’t many people I can say that I truly despise but Cheney is one of them.

      • Kitten says:

@Tiffany-I noticed that we both likened him to Mr. Burns…

      • Tiffany :) says:

        If the Burns fits…!

He is like a reverse Dorian Grey, where he carries his sins against humanity on the outside. I have to admit, even though I am horrified by him, I might have been curious to hear him in person. That would have meant being an audience for him, though, so you made the right choice in skipping the event. His words don’t deserve your ears or your time!

      • Mackenzie Warshington says:

Oh totally, Tiff. That’s the thing-I would never pay to hear any of those guys speak but while you’re there, it’s kind of stupid to pass up the opportunity.

But I actually had a visceral reaction to Cheney when I saw him at the conference center–I just didn’t think I could withstand hearing him speak. Plus, he’s there to be applauded and in a sense, honored. I don’t wanna be a part of that.

      • Kori says:

I love to follow politics and I can usually spot the humanity even in those I disagree with and really bear no animosity towards most. I don’t like the politics of demonization at all. I see some of the most conservative people on Bill Maher and Colbert and they are funny and people I think I’d really like personally if not politically. But I just can’t with Cheney. I really think he is just the worst. Loved him appearing with his vile daughter Liz and Jon Stewart calling them Darth Cheney and his Sith apprentice.

      • Tiffany :) says:

“he’s there to be applauded and in a sense, honored. I don’t wanna be a part of that. ”

        Exactly.

  12. scout says:

Another one with “verbal Diarrhea”! We are all surrounded by idiotic morons like these unfortunately, no hope for bright future.

  13. maeliz says:

Keep her quiet up in Alaska where she says she can see Russia from home. She is so annoying. Why do we still see and hear so much from her?

  14. Jaded says:

She’s the very embodiment of the term “lipstick on a pig”.

    • Vava says:

      LOL…….so true.

I wish they wouldn’t call her Governor Palin. She resigned the job and doesn’t deserve the recognition. Oh god, and that ridiculous top she’s wearing! TACKY

  15. Don says:

I am curious about who named the dog. Isn’t Joe Biden’s wife named Jill and Joe Lieberman’s wife named Haddasah? Palin is so petty.

    • Esmom says:

Petty is the perfect word for her. And her hateful fixation on liberals is laughable, she paints such a caricature that is so far removed from reality. I cannot imagine what day to day life with her, modeling hate and vindictiveness for her family, must be like. Exhausting.

    • Tiffany :) says:

OMG, you are right about the names! I thought about the “Jill” and Biden connection, but I didn’t know about Liebermann’s wife.

That is so shameful. Wow, just disgusting.

      • GingerCrunch says:

How much you wanna bet she thinks it’s hilarious that she named her “b*tch” after those two women. Doesn’t quite make sense though, unless of course she hates the dog. Which I can totally buy.

      • Esmom says:

GingerCrunch, I know and it seems like a perfect example of her particular brand of ignorance…to name a family pet who is supposed to be beloved after her perceived rivals/enemies. Beyond clueless. And I can totally buy that she hates the dog, too.

      • Tiffany :) says:

GingerCrunch and Esmom, I agree, it does seem like her type of insulting humor.

It makes me wonder about what went on behind the scenes of the McCain campaign in regards to Liebermann. He was one of the top contenders for McCain’s VP position, but I would think once Sarah was brought into the picture that Liebermann was decidedly out of the running. I wonder if his wife and Sarah battled it out in some form before or after she was chosen.

      • GingerCrunch says:

Hey guys, it’s kinda after the fact, but all this talk about dog names made me want to share that my username is my dear, departed rescued Greyhound’s racing name! She died this year at the ripe, old age of 14. Thanks…

      • Tiffany :) says:

Aw, what a fun name for a beloved pet! It sounds like she had a loving home with you. My pooch is 12 years old and I appreciate every day I have with her.

      • GingerCrunch says:

She actually won one (1) race running with that name, so there’s no way we were gonna change it. It was too cute. Yep, the old ones are sweethearts.

    • cannibell says:

That goes a long way toward explaining why she saw the kid on the dog’s back and thought “KODAK MOMENT!”

    • Kori says:

Lieberman was a staunch supporter of McCain. I don’t know that SP would harbor any ill will there. It is an odd name for a dog though and there has to be something there.

      • Wren33 says:

I don’t think there is a lot of love lost between McCain and Palin. Not sure, but there was a lot of complaining and gossiping coming out about Palin from the McCain team after the election.

  16. mernymerlyn says:

When I think that this woman was a heart beat away from being in the White House i have nightmares. #thatbitchcray

She never was a heartbeat away from the presidency, she wanted to be but could not keep her mouth shut for five minutes let alone an entire campaign. Her candidacy was a joke from beginning to end and completely tanked McCain’s shot at the job.

  17. Christin says:

So much deflection in her word salads.

She goes 90 miles around the core complaint, which is that dogs are not step stools.

  18. frivolity says:

Can she please just go away?

Why oh why does she have a voice in the media again?!?!

  19. Veronica says:

I used to have a lot of respect for John McCain. Now I resent him for foisting this jackass on all of us. It wouldn’t shock me if she’s made it that much harder for women in politics to be taken seriously across the board.

    • homegrrrlll says:

I really don’t think we can blame McCain for the improper vetting that is Sarah Palin. That said, it reflects his inability to override his team, and for that reason alone I can’t take him as seriously as I was very close to voting him into office until the mess that is SP came along.

  20. Lilacflowers says:

Does anyone in her family have an actual full-time job?

  21. lucy2 says:

Gotta love that Today gives this lunatic a platform to whine about why she should be allowed to be a shtty parent and pet owner, but Amy Adams says she’s not going to comment on the Sony hack and they kick her off the show.

    • Neelyo says:

      So true!

    • Christin says:

I lost respect with their show several years ago, when they invited a boy to NYC who had behaved badly and his family. I cannot remember all the specifics, but they were not only enabling but rewarding the kid and his clueless parents. The boy acted obnoxious during the entire interview.

They like drama and controversy of the moronic variety. They are more tabloid than news source.

      • Mackenzie Warshington says:

“They like drama and controversy of the moronic variety. They are more tabloid than news source. ”

THIS. I have the lowest expectations for that trashy-ass show.

  22. Mollie says:

Typical of Snowdrift Snookie. (apologies to real Snookie who is by no means as annoying.)
Always using her children as human shields against the media. Despicable, awful woman.

  23. AntiSocialButterfly says:

I got to forty- four seconds, and I spontaneously exclaimed to no one, “I can’t”, and stopped watching. That woman is such a head case, it is embarrassing to watch her carry on, oblivious to her own arrogant ignorance. Yikes.

  24. pegasus says:

    zsdlkvhnfvos;r/bok[psronbv vkvfg;bkgnkdl

Sorry. That was my head hitting the keyboard after watching that hot mess

Sooooo…. over the years, we’ve learned her kids enjoy such wholesome activities as teen pregnancy, drunken ski fights, posting selfies wiith shotguns, and now using “beloved” family pets as stepping stools…. HOW do none of them have a reality show on TLC yet?

  25. moirrey says:

I’d be the last person ever to support Palin, don’t get me wrong… but that is not “word salad”. That term specifically applies to schizophrenics with affected speech and in no way fits what Palin said here. She may be a paranoid idiot with a persecution complex, but last I checked she isn’t schizophrenic.

  26. Janet says:

It’s bad enough the Russians can see her from their front porches, but what if they can hear the crap she spews from their front porches?

    *Weeps in shame*

  27. CH2 says:

Why does she just keep dragging EVERYONE into things that aren’t relevant to them? I’ve seen more responsible toddlers. Honestly, this woman is a nightmare…

  28. LaurieH says:

There are certain people in the world, celebrities, politicians, athletes – you name it, whom people have so made up their minds about that nothing – utterly nothing – can change their opinions good or bad. There have been a few exceptions – most recently, Bill Cosby, but at the same time, even people like Woody Allen and Roman Polanski have their defenders.

Sarah Palin is one of those people. I’ve no particular opinion of her one way or another; to me, she’s just of a growing number of public bloviators whom I’ve long since tuned out. I have become convinced that President Obama could use his upcoming State of the Union address to announce that Sarah Palin has discovered the cure for cancer, wrinkles and cellulite, plus solved the Middle East Crisis – and people would still call her stupid. Yet at the same time, Hillary Clinton could go on Oprah to announce she’s discovered the secret to twisting open an Oreo without the cream ending up on just one side of the cookie, and those same people would declare her a genius of Stephen Hawking proportions.

When it comes to posts about certain people – for good or ill – the responses are just so predictible that they become pointlesss.

    • Esmom says:

I get what you’re saying up to a point. It’s harder to fathom the adamant hate that people have for relatively innocuous public figures, especially of the actor variety. But Palin is not only not innocuous, she is downright dangerous in her bigotry and ignorance, so it’s not surprising that she gets such an overwhelming negative reaction here. On the flip side, she’s got supporters who mindlessly defend her no matter how outrageous her statements are. And Hilary most definitely draws as many haters as admirers, so I don’t think she’s exactly a parallel example to Palin.

    • Kiddo says:

Sarah Palin will never cure cancer. Let’s be real. I have a greater probability of riding a sparkly unicorn over a comet. Hillary Clinton, although intelligent, has completely turned me off with her positions, so admiration gone.

People can and do change their minds about public speakers. Unfortunately, the public speakers seem not to change their speeches, and once revealed, if there is change, a healthy dose of cynicism should be applied to assess their agenda. Why should people reinvent the wheel in evaluating them?

    • Tiffany :) says:

Hmmm. It is kind of odd that you yourself have tuned her out, but it seems like you are judgmental about others doing so.

IMO, people’s attitudes about her are her own making. She has had numerous platforms to show the world who she is and what she stands for, and she always ends up using low brow insults while making non-factual claims. She had VERY high approval ratings when she first got on the scene, but then when people actually found out what she stood for, it turned them off. I don’t think citizens should set the bar so low that they feel obligated to give their time and consideration to all political pundits, no matter how unqualified and uninformed they are.

Clinton is an intelligent, accomplished politician. She can speak at length and in great authority on a number of issues. Her career spans decades. I don’t think it should be assumed that because people recognize this, that it means they are giving her a free pass. I don’t think she will get the nomination in 2016, for the same reasons as 2008. She is polarizing and has too strong of links to corporate America and the military industrial complex.

      • LaurieH says:

I agree with everything you said. My point is, simply, that peoples’ opinions of Sarah Palin are so entrenched, that there is no point repeating it. No matter what she does or says, there are those who will think she’s stupid and those who think she’s right. Hillary is definitely intelligent, though she actually is NOT an accomplished politician. Her husband is, but she’s not. She has, however, been involved in government for nearly her entire life (which could be considered good or bad depending on how you look at it). I don’t think she will be the nominee either.

As to citizens setting their expectations so low – you can hardly blame them. No matter which side of the aisle one stands on, you can’t help but look at these greedy, self-serving buffoons that run our country and ask “is this the best we’ve got?”.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I think we are pretty much on the same page. 🙂

      • Mary says:

I am a Hillary fan. She was one of my role models when I was younger. I even had an “H” bumper sticker on my car during an election year. 2008? That long ago? Anyway, I guess I just want to say, “Go, Hillary!”

    • minx says:

She IS stupid, sorry. She’s a grifter of the worst sort, totally out for herself.
There are reasons she gets the disdain that she does. She would like to think that the “elites” are just pickin’ on Mama Grizzly, but she is dumb, careless, hateful and always has her hand out. And some people are stupid enough to buy her act.

    • ch2 says:

Really? You really just don’t know Sarah Palin that well if you think peoples’ opinion of her isn’t every bit justified.

  29. AtlLady says:

Taking Sarah Palin out of the equation, look at it this way. You have a mentally handicapped child who will never progress beyond a childlike mental state. Since a hand gesture is used by the child to indicate “up”, verbal communication has not been fully established, so the child has the mental capacity of maybe a one-year old. This child has no concept of his own size and maybe never will. The mother is trying to finish a task that requires much of her attention at that moment. When she finally looks around, her child is standing on the dog. She quickly snaps a photo to show the child figured out how to raise himself to counter-top level, an accomplishment for him but not something you might wish to encourage completely because of possible dangers from stove tops or knives or whatever. Although it was a bad use of his service dog, as a mother to a handicapped child, would your first instinct be to reprimand your child for using the dog as a step stool or pride in a mental accomplishment? After the quick photo, you remove the child from the dog’s back and try to make sure the child understands this not acceptable behavior. It is a slippery slope to navigate as a parent, no matter who you are.

    • Esmom says:

I may be veering from the point you are trying to make but I think you’re vastly underestimating the little boy’s potential — see also “the bigotry of low expectations” and “learned helplessness.” With the right intervention and support he can achieve far more than the “capacity of a one-year-old.” I know several teens with Down Syndrome who have competed in the Special Olympics, performed on stage, cheered with cheerleaders, held jobs and have gone on to live independently. In any case, I don’t think his disability makes Palin’s actions/reactions any less inappropriate.

    • doofus says:

“as a mother to a handicapped child, would your first instinct be to reprimand your child for using the dog as a step stool or pride in a mental accomplishment?”

neither. my first instinct would be to remove the child from the dogs back and gently explain, as best as possible, that what he did was a no-no and not safe for him or the dog. I think you are underestimating his ability to understand things. It wouldn’t have to be a “reprimand”, more like a “teachable moment”.

I sure as H-E-double L would NOT stop to take a picture. there are better ways to take pride in a mental accomplishment without enforcing the notion and making a child think it was OK to stand on a dog. to add, there was also a pic of the child STEPPING UP ONTO the dog, so this did not happen as she is portraying.

      • jane16 says:

That sounds like the best way to handle it for sure; but, that is not what happened here. If you look at all the pictures, you see that Trig is photographed stepping up onto the dog; therefore, this is all a planned publicity stunt and her story about the dog being lazy and her being unattentive to Trig “wanting to help with the dishes” is all a big fat lie”. There are no dishes to be seen, Trig is clearly not able to reach anything even when standing on the dog. This demented woman used her special needs child and his service dog as props for her cheap homily (“make obstacles stepping stones”) to her idiotic fans on New Years.

      • AtlLady says:

I didn’t see any pictures of Trig stepping up on the dog, only ones where he was already standing on the dog. That does change things a bit. Knowing several children with Downs and having worked with many teens with Downs, I find it odd that he is not verbalizing yet with simple words such as “up”, which made me wonder about his capabilities. He is such a cutie and I wish him the very best and send hopes that he will be able to accomplish so much more as he grows. I am neither pro nor anti Palin, but I am pro Trig.

      • KrisK says:

Sarah posted three pictures of Trig & Dog on her FB page. One of them showed Trig just beginning to step up on the dog. If there were only the one of him already on the dog, we might be able to think that she snapped a quick pic and then removed him from dog’s back with a little talk. But, it was clearly staged.

      • jane16 says:

Thank you KrisK. You explained it better than I did.

AtlLady, I also have a disabled child, for whom I quit my career, and for whom I make every possible sacrifice. So, seeing Palin use her child and dog in such a cheap stunt makes me sick. I can’t stand her, but am in no way criticizing the little boy, who looks like a sweetie.

    • Veronica says:

I don’t care about the child stepping on the dog. My feeling is that if the dog was in pain, it would move. Not the most pet-friendly decision, but hardly requiring of PETA intervention.

If she had presented it as a frustrated response to PETA making it about the dog and her parenting skill when it was really about her handicapped son accomplishing something, that I would have been fine with. But as with anything, it wasn’t made either of this issues, it was about the radical liberal conspiracy out to get her. In other words, anything to make it about *her.*

  30. trilby227 says:

Phooey on the Today Show for putting her on my TV this morning. I switched over to CBS This Morning as soon as I saw her face.

  31. mayamae says:

Back when Cheney was still president, a radio station in Chicago would play The Imperial March while reading news about him. And when you think about it, Cheney really does look like that pasty white bald lump that was revealed when Darth Vadar’s helmet was removed.

    • Kiddo says:

“Back when Cheney was still president”…LMAO because it’s true, even if not officially so.

  32. Sharon says:

This woman needs help. She is definitely has a problem and is totally irrational. I can’t stand her voice. Gives me a headache.

  33. Vava says:

I don’t care who it is, but standing on a dog is unacceptable and should never be praised or tolerated.

  34. Jan Harf says:

Are we all still believing that Trig is not her grandson?

  35. TMZ says:

“At least Trig didn’t try to eat the dog.”
Hell yes it was a cheap shot at the president. It was not the president who made the comments about the pic, it was others. But Sarah lashing out at the president just shows the level of her character. Yea, I think it’s ridiculous that people get upset about the pic, but frankly, she brings this kind of criticism on herself. She is so damn obnoxious and critical about things that she gets under peoples skin, then they just look for an opportunity to attack her. The way she handled this situation (attacking the president when he had nothing to do with it) is just adding fuel to the fire the next time she says or does something questionable.
