We seriously haven’t discussed Christina Aguilera since last August, when she gave birth to her second child, daughter Summer Rain Rutler. Christina has been with Matt Rutler for several years now, and they announced their engagement around the same time they announced this pregnancy. Summer Rain is Rutler’s first child, but Christina has an older son, Max, from her first marriage. Anyway, Christina and Summer Rain cover this week’s issue of People Magazine. I was kind of hoping for a cover devoted to the Grammys, but I guess not.
As for the timing – because no one was really asking “What’s Aguilera up to these days?” – she’s rejoining The Voice after going on hiatus for a year with her pregnancy. My mom watches The Voice and my mom did not miss Aguilera at all. My mom loved Shakira and wants Shakira to come back. But I guess Christina wants all of those other ladies to know that The Voice is HER gig and she will shill for her gig with baby photos. As for this baby… Summer Rain is gorgeous. But did People Magazine Photoshop Summer’s eyes to make them bluer? Here are some assorted quotes from the cover story:
Aguilera on Summer’s birth: “I was speechless. She was literally like an angel … We had an immediate calm bond, and I felt unexplainably connected to her and her spirit.”
Working motherhood: “It’s definitely not easy juggling work and motherhood, as being a parent is a full-time job within itself. You just have to make it work for you. My life has so many different moving parts, but my kids are the center focal piece, and everything else shifts around them.”
Mom guilt: “It’s hard to know you won’t have all the right answers at the right times. And ‘mom guilt’ is the worst thing ever. But you have to surrender and let go, knowing you’re doing your very best and no one loves them, or wants what’s best for them more than you.”
Christina also says Matt Rutler was there for the birth (obviously) and she’s got lots of projects coming up, like producing an ABC Family show and returning to The Voice, I guess. I kind of wonder if The Voice is really jazzed about her return? They brought in a lot of guest judges and many of those people were really popular. People loved Pharrell and Gwen Stefani and Shakira. I kind of wonder if the producers are going to look for a way to get Aguilera out of her contract.

Yeah the baby is beautiful, but aren’t they all really? This cover and the story all seem meh to me. It’s well-covered ground… Being a working mom is tough, bonded with my baby, blog blah blah… So boring.

I don’t think she looks photoshopped, more color corrected. Which is expected, its a magazine cover.
Yeah, she looks “off.” It seems like she is very adorable, but they did something to her face that makes her look really phony.
Is it the corners of the babies mouth? The unnaturally shaded blue eyes? IDK, something is giving me creepy doll vibes. I wouldn’t want it in my room at night. That is a new low to photoshop a baby into oblivion. Sad.
They just totally photoshopped those facial features onto her entire head. See the way she has that massive smile but no chin or jaw definition to match it? She looks like a cartoon. I don’t think it’s cute at all (the cover, not the baby. I’m sure the baby is lovely).

Baby is definitely photoshopped. As a parent I don’t think I’d allow it. It basically says my baby isn’t cute or pretty enough.

I don’t know…Christina has really bright blue eyes like that, so maybe it’s more the lighting than photoshop? In any case, she’s adorable.
I’m sure she is a cute baby but all the photoshop is creating a creepy factor. They should have left the poor baby alone!
Also I had a little girl the day before this one was born and I named my little girl Summer. 🙁 I was sad Xtina named her girl that, it made me second guess my choice! I will say though that my Summer’s middle name is a classic name that cannot be confused with an object or weather system so Summer sounds like a name not an adjective. Or feminine hygiene product.

I think it’s really creepy when they Photoshop kids. Often it’s to make the eyes an unnatural bright blue. I’m glad other people have pointed it out coz it was my first thought when I saw this. Like, can that baby scorch things with laser vision or something? It’s weird.

I give Christina credit. She has always lived a fairly private life in her first marriage and this relationship, no big photo-ops, just the occasional photo caught of her and her family, which is rare.

You know I have to stick up for my girl, Christina. Only the ‘female’ guest judges were there in lieu of Christina … the male judges are trying out for Cee-Lo Green’s position because he is definitely coming back. I know you don’t have love for her, but I have loads of love for you. 🙂

When I first saw the picture, I didn’t know if my meds were making me see the baby in a bad photoshop way. Why do they do this to cute babies?
First thing I noticed was the eyes being photoshopped on the baby and couldn’t get past that to care about anything else!

Christina knows singing more than Shakira and Gwen. The other judges listen to her critique very carefully.
Right, and given The Voice features a lot of big singers, it’s kind of nice to have ONE judge who can match them vocally.
Christina is lucky this isn’t 2001…I remember all the flack Britney caught for being with KFed. The world isn’t kind to powerful rich famous women who choose to marry/have kids by a “peasant”
Then again, Britney was a bigger deal than Christina , who never had the America’s Sweetheart label to deal with. Or a very famous ex bf.

I thought Pharrel was there to replace Cee-Lo? And Christina may be a bit abrasive, but she brings the show cache because she is a legitimate superstar. And Shakira and Gwen may be incredibly successful, but neither is a particularly powerful vocalist.

What a cute baby! Not just cute, but she seems to have a personality. Granted I’m just saying that from the look of one photo. That baby definitely has better genes than the first Aguilera baby, whom I haven’t seen recent pics of but I hope looks his mother and not his father (because yikes on her first husband.)
