Pink shuts down body-shaming trolls: ‘I feel beautiful, I am perfectly fine’

FFN_AFP_JohnWayneBall_041115_51707891

I’ve always sort of loved Pink’s body. She doesn’t have a “model” figure, nor does she look like a “typical” pop star. Everything about her has always been so tomboy-ish, and her body always looked fit and strong, especially during the phase where she was doing those intense acrobatics on tours and performances. Well, apparently (??) Pink has gained a little weight. I can’t even see it in these photos of her from the weekend John Wayne Odyssey Ball. She looks the same as she always looks? Well, people were criticizing her body, because hateful trolls are hateful. So Pink decided to post something about it on her Twitter, writing:

“I can see that some of you are concerned about me from your comments about my weight. You’re referring to the pictures of me from last night’s cancer benefit that I attended to support my dear friend Dr. Maggie DiNome. She was given the Duke Award for her tireless efforts and stellar contributions to the eradication of cancer. Unfortunately, my weight seems much more important to some of you. While I admit that the dress didn’t photograph as well as it did in my kitchen, I will also admit that I felt very pretty. In fact, I feel beautiful. So, my good and concerned peoples, please don’t worry about my. I’m not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either:)…I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off. Thanks for your concern. Love, cheesecake.”

Yep. First of all, am I going crazy? Because I really don’t see any weight gain? I guess if I was pressed to really examine her body, I would say that she doesn’t look as “toned” as she used to when she was in performance-mode. But even then, it’s not like she’s suddenly gained fifty pounds or anything. She looks pretty much the same. And yes, she still looks great. F—k the body trolls.

People are so rude!!! Pink looks great and her personality makes her a knockout. Her response was perfect and if anyone has a problem with her appearance they can suck it!!

    • Mia V. says:

If you are not okay with her body or whatever, just keep to yourselves, trolls. Pink is gorgeous!

    • mytbean says:

People are just so accustomed to the tiny bodies that are normally put on pedestals in Hollywood that seeing another body type freaks them out. Pink just has an athletic build and eats regular meals.

Like she said, she’s not hitting the gym hard and working like a mad woman, and so she’s a little fluffier (muscle is denser/leaner looking than fat). Her waist still looks just right to me and that’s where I think that it’s more alarming if a person’s waist looks smaller than the circumference of their head.

    • phlyfiremama says:

      Right on, aims!!

  2. LizLemonGotMarried says:

*sigh* I love Pink. I love Pink and Carey Hart together. I love how drama free and low-key they seem anymore.

  3. Bex says:

I Love Pink for this. She has a similar body type to my daughter and I’ve always used her as an example to how you can be compact, muscular and beautiful.

  4. feebee says:

She looks great and I’m so glad she took the time to slap down those idiots.

  5. Samantha says:

She looks great. I guess I can see where the dress is not the most flattering ever? That length is a little stumpifying if you’re not 6 feet tall. But I love her, and she looks no less fit than she normally does. People are jerks.

  6. Deanne says:

I love Pink. She’s a former gymnast. She always looks strong, healthy and fit. I’ll take muscular and toned over emaciated with implants any day.

  7. AntiSocialButterfly says:

I think it is just that she is swimming in that dress- it overwhelms her; the proportions are so off.

  8. InvaderTak says:

Seriously, why do other peoples bodies get such a visceral reaction from people? Are there scientific studies of this? It’s ridiculous. Is it just simply because it’s an easy to make fun of? It’s also a self perpetuating issue. Celeb gets attacked, celeb tells off h8erz, cue discussion about body image with no real progress made on subject. Lather, rinse, repeat with different celeb. Yawn.

  9. Pamela says:

Oh FFS! If even Pink, in all her toned glory, can be criticized for her body, I might as well give up. I am going to lock myself in a room and live on chips and chocolate.

  10. BooBooLaRue says:

She look so healthy and happy! Love Pink!

  11. ojulia123 says:

Ummmm, I’m confused. She looks beautiful! What’s the problem?

  12. Dawn says:

Love Pink and she is so right!

  13. Lucy says:

What in the world…? Please. I’m not even gonna dignify that nonsense with an answer. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I shall go get me some cheesecake *exits dramatically*.

  14. Jane Q. Doe says:

I think it’s just that she’s not the really ripped ‘on tour’ Pink people got used to seeing. She looks, and is , awesome.

Speaking of awesome, Pink & Kelly Clarkson duet – make this happen music people!!

    • Scri says:

      YES. Excellent, finally, please.
And agreed. I remember excellent UK Girls Aloud all used to lose a ton of weight over their tours from the stress and exertion of it, but P!nk fully got on top of it all and was always strong and fit and ‘ripped’ as you guys would say. No need for that when you’re just hanging with your family for once.

  15. AuroraBorealis says:

I love Pink and I think the people who muscle shame her or call her too thick and not womanly enough, I don’t know, I personally think they’re insecure of how strong and agile she is.

  16. shizwhat says:

Show me someone who hasn’t been called fat by someone. Please. Someone. Anyone.

  17. Ameoba says:

Among the couples I crush on, Pink and Carey Hart make my top five. I love them that much. They seem genuinely crazy in love. As for Pink’s body, gah! this woman is reality for those living in the clouds. She is not going to pretend to be a size zero or whatever. She stands for strength, flexibility and agility. Woman should preach. But she doesn’t and that’s again why I love her.

  18. Lisa says:

She gained a little weight, because her arms used to be more defined, but that’s not the first thing I’d notice by looking at her. She still looks fantastic. Who’s going after her, weirdo IG fitness bloggers?

  19. Tracy says:

Hey, I’d be more concerned about her toes, which are trying to escape from those shoes. I jest, I jest… Seriously, her body looks just fine, works for her life, and is her own damn business.

  20. Joy says:

That dress is just not flattering. Not on her or anyone else.

  21. wow says:

I can see the weight gain in the first picture, but she’s still muscular so she just looks “bigger” in that sense to me. In the second pic of her with her little girl, I don’t really notice it there.

But the whole body shaming thing is no different than when “we” critique other celebrities when it comes to their looks, who they’re dating, what they’re wearing or how their hair looks. That just comes with it. Felecia should be use to this by now, especially when she is known to criticize and make fun of others in her songs.

    *shrugs*

She’ll live. And she still looks great.

  22. Itsa Reallyme says:

She looks fabulous and I’d be thrilled to look like she does!

  23. meme says:

I don’t understand why celebs bother reading this nonsense or why they feel compelled to respond.

    • Lucinda says:

I’m glad she responded, not for her sake, but for all the girls who read that criticism of her. They benefit from hearing Pink say, “Yeah, whatever.” If girls can look at her, question why people think Pink is fat, and then hear Pink confirm she feels great about her body, it shows these girls a more realistic body perception. I big puffy heart Pink so much!

  24. jc126 says:

I can never see enough pictures of Pink and Carey Hart. They are the cutest couple.

  25. Embee says:

P!nk is awesome and looks great. With her body type (and mine) this weight/appearance is a healthy and normal part of a cycle throughout the year and through changing fitness requirements. We lean-out for a spell, then soften up a bit and repair, then lean-out again. It’s fine.

And look how grown and cute Willow is!!!!

  26. kri says:

I have the same body type as well. Short & naturally muscular. A few pouns on a short girl look like more. Eh, so what? She has an amazing body. Always has. And I think she looks great, so suck it, trolls. She feels beautiful, and happy. What more would anyone want?

  27. GingerCrunch says:

    Goddess!

  28. I Choose Me says:

Yes! I luff her and her response is the perfect comeback to all the concern trolls.

  29. The Other Katherine says:

She looks fantastic. The world is full of idiot trolls. The End.

  30. A.Key says:

She has gained weight, but who the F cares? Is it illegal or immoral to gain weight?? WTF

    • word says:

Yeah apparently women aren’t allowed to.

    • jenn12 says:

Seriously, trolls. If it doesn’t affect your life, then why the freaking hell do you care? Why don’t you mind your own business? You’re not having sex with her, not married to her, you don’t have to look at her- just shut up. Keyboard warriors are the worst.

  31. celtlady says:

Pink is gorgeous. I love her for not letting the trolls get to her. She is a proud, bad ass woman and is totally amazing. So many haters out there. They need to get a life. The best concert that I have ever seen in my life was Pink’s concert in Cleveland in 2013. Damn, the girl is talented.

  32. Guest says:

It’s the dress people!!! Get over it!! If she wore a different outfit there would not be all this talk about weight gain.

She looks fantastic and always will because she has a crap load of confidence behind her. She could care less what anyone thinks.

You go girl!! Always loved Pink and love her even more now!!

  33. K says:

So very many reasons to love Pink. This is just another to sling on the pile.

  34. Scri says:

THIS WOMAN! Even 5? 7? years ago when I saw her live, people would criticise her body, calling her ‘manly’ or whatever. Seeing her in the flesh was absurd – the woman is gorgeous, strong, sexy, athletic, charismatic… just a powerhouse hurricane of talent and hotness. Now people *know* she can sing live while doing upside-down splits, and we still need to hear this BS? She’s not touring or promoting, she looks enviable, and some moron gets to call her chunky and get airtime and headlines for it… I almost (ALMOST) wish she hadn’t shut them down.

  35. word says:

I can see the weight gain but who cares? She’s not as muscular/toned as she used to be but why does that bother people? How does her weight affect the general public? Don’t people have more important things to worry about? She’s healthy and happy !

  36. vavavoom says:

Love her! Great response. I remember after she was pregnant, she referred to some troubles she had conceiving, as I was having troubles at the same time. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s not so regimented with her workouts because they may be trying again… trying to relax a bit? 🙂

  37. jenn12 says:

I don’t get it. Does it make trolls feel powerful to sit and insult people and make them feel like crap, or try to? (Answer: yes.) I don’t see a difference in her, but even if there was, who cares? Are you sleeping with her? Married to her? Are you HER? Doesn’t affect you, so step off.

    • RaRaRasputin says:

      Exactly!

I don’t really understand the excessive criticism of the human and particularly female body. Is it that we’ve all become so adjusted to photoshopped perfection and conditioned by magazines that a spot, bit of excess hair, cellulite or a stretch mark makes us HIDEOUS+1! I think the artificial construct of the media has caused this attitude to flourish. I wonder what lasting impact this has on people psychologically?

We know that eating disorders are on the up. Even a lot of ‘fat’ people seem to be more a case of rebelling against the skinny standard. How did our view of bodies become so unbalanced? The body is more than how it looks; it’s a tool – to live, to move, to run, to dance.

  38. Solsolito says:

Psychologists have shown that people who troll are generally psychopaths by nature. Therefore, it doesn’t surprise me that there are people out there who operate solely to denigrate others by facelessly body-shaming others. Why can’t we all just co-exist and bask in each other’s happiness? Maybe I’m naive, maybe I’m delusional, but I truly believe that people who body-shame others are likely insecure in their own skin. Methinks they doth protest too much.

  39. msw says:

Pink kicks ass. I just adore her. So does my kid. There are worse celebs she could look up to.

  40. Kell says:

She looks beautiful, healthy and happy. A good mom and role model. People are just awful.

  41. lucy2 says:

I love her – she’s wonderfully talented, and also just a kick ass person who knows how to handle herself well.
She always looks great to me – she’s very strong and athletic, and I really admire that. Some of the dancing and stuff she has done in her videos and performances is downright amazing.

  42. jwoolman says:

The first time I heard her sing was as a pirate captain in the live-action part of a SpongeBob SquarePants special. It was a delightful but strange song called “Scurvy”, given a full-throated rendition by Pink and her pirate crew (who looked a bit down with scurvy, or close to it, Pink was the healthy one). She was great. Gotta love somebody brave enough to sing that on a cartoon show.

  43. RaRaRasputin says:

She looks fine to me. I wouldn’t call her ‘fat’ at all. The word fat has become so over-used. A person can have a little excess weight and not be fat. A little fat on a frame is healthy. I used to be rake-thin but with boobs until I hit 23. Now my figure is fuller and I feel so much healthier, stronger and confident in myself.
