Mandy Moore’s new album has a lot of songs about ex Zach Braff

Page Six claims Mandy Moore has a song on her “Wild Hope” album about her relationship with Zach Braff. They say the song “Looking forward to looking back” is about Braff. If you read the lyrics, it sounds like Moore is reflecting on a relationship that’s about to be over as she waits outside her boyfriend’s house. It’s a kind of bittersweet song, and it doesn’t sound like regret as much as hoping she can get over a lost relationship and saying she’s ready to move on.

Drove to your house in the hills
Where I wanted to be
The lights were all on
And I knew you were waiting for me
And that road became familiar
Like the mystery shape of your heart

CHORUS
And I know you loved me in your way
I’m looking forward to looking back on these days
And I’m fine, but I’m not okay
I’m looking forward to looking back on these days

The fog in the morning clouded the world that we knew
It was almost enough being lonely and living for you
And the rain came to our window

And I wish I could’ve stayed

CHORUS

Let it go
Let it go sunshine
Now you know
Now you know its time
It’s time

You were asleep while I gathered my things in the dark
The burns on my fingers were all that was left of the spark
Didn’t want to wake you
‘Cause I knew I couldn’t say

CHORUS

I’m looking forward to looking back on these days

You can hear a segment of the song on Amazon.com.

Page Six quotes a “music insider” as saying “We all assume [the song ‘Looking forward to looking back’] was about Zach, he was such a cheater.”

If you read the rest of the lyrics to songs on Mandy’s new album, many of them have themes of love gone bad or lost, and I would bet a lot of them are about Braff.

From “Nothing That You Are”:

I could never do those things you did to me
I will be ok
In time you’ll fade
Into the nothing that you are
The nothing you are

From “Never Again”:

I thought you loved me too much
Sorry, my mistake
And to think I gave you all I had to give
For a “see you round” and “thanks for nothing”
Never Again
If they’re all like you
Then I’ll be by myself

Mandy Moore had a brief relationship with Nicole Richie’s ex, DJ AM, but he has since moved on to a model and I have not heard that she’s dating someone new.

Zach Braff was getting cosy with actress Shiri Appleby of “Roswell” at Shakepeare in the Park’s “Romeo and Juliet” on Tuesday night, according to the NY Daily News.

I really like Mandy Moore and have a lot of respect for her. Reading her lyrics, you can see the pain she went through in her relationship and how she’s using her songs to work through it. She’ll find the right person and learn that love doesn’t have to be hard. My last boyfriend before I met my husband was a total jerk, but if I didn’t go through all that heartache I never would have met the love of my life.

Mandy Moore is seen outside of MTV’s TRL studios on 6/19.
