Josh Duggar asks for prayers for himself, not his victims, in FRC resignation

JD3

The earlier Josh Duggar post was full of information that broke over the course of Thursday, and there were so many stories, the timeline of horror sort of got lost. Josh Duggar began molesting girls in 2002 and 2003, when he was 13, 14 and 15 years old. Jim-Bob Duggar learned about this in 2002 when a “minor female” (like one of his daughters) came to him and said Josh had been molesting her at night. The Duggar parents did not alert authorities and Jim-Bob did not “turn in his son.” Jim-Bob did take Josh to a friendly cop in 2003 (following more incidents of Josh molesting girls) and the cop told Josh it would be fine and that was the cop who later went to jail for child p0rn. The official police investigation wasn’t started until 2006 and that was because Oprah’s Harpo Studios got the ball rolling. Just FYI, in case anyone was confused about the timeline.

So, what’s new? As I said in the previous post, Josh resigned from his position as Executive Director for the ultra-conservative and ultra-right-wing Family Research Council. The FRC’s raison d’être is heterosexual two-parent families, plus no abortion or reproductive rights whatsoever. Josh’s position with FRC has made him a lot of contacts in the deepest Republican circles. And a lot of those Republicans are now going to have to back away from the Duggars? That should be fascinating. In any case, People got their hands on Duggar’s resignation letter from the FRC and see if you notice anything interesting:

I deeply regret that recent media reports about my long ago past has brought negative attention to FRC Action and its work to preserve and advance the interests of family, faith, and freedom in the political arena.

FRC Action’s mission to fortify the traditional foundations of civil society is more important now than ever before, and I’m heartbroken that any attention has been diverted from these noble causes to my wrong actions as a young teenager. I am so thankful for God’s grace, forgiveness and redemptive heart that allowed me to transform into a man of faith and testimony.

In good faith I cannot allow Family Research Council to be impacted by mistakes I made as a teenager, so I am resigning as Executive Director of FRC Action. I will continue to pray for the advancements of the causes we believe in and I hope that in the days ahead you will pray for me and Anna as we seek God to discover the next chapter of our lives in His service.

Sincerely,
Joshua Duggar

[From People]

Why should anyone pray for Josh Duggar? Why not pray for the multiple girls he molested? In no space of all of the Duggars’ letters and statements has there been any concern for the victims of these crimes. And the language Josh uses is that of a self-pitying psycho who doesn’t understand that HE is not the victim here. People Mag also published the resignation-acceptance letter from the FRC, which brings up another point: surely an admission of multiple counts of child molestation is reason enough to be FIRED, right? Why was Josh able to “resign”? This is a perfect case of needing to be fired for cause.

As for the questions of what TLC knew and when… I don’t know. If Harpo Studios got one anonymous email and they managed to follow through on it, what are the chances that TLC also got some anonymous emails? TMZ also reports that Mama June Shannon is pissed off that TLC came down so hard on her (they canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo following June’s relationship with a convicted pedophile) while simultaneously backing a family with a serial child molester as one of the reality show “leads.” I’m not going to get into an argument over who is the worst person, June or Josh. Let’s just say they’re both pretty disgusting people and neither of them should be a part of a reality show.

Ugh, all kinds of wrong happening with this family.

    • Concerned says:

What’s wrong with Christian missionaries?? Couple of weeks ago during Nepal earthquake, they were more desperate and eager to convert them and sell bibles.

Large amount of people in the fox news Facebook page were blaming them for being ‘Pagan’ and that they should accept ‘Lord as savior’ or burn in hell. I checked their locations, most were from South U.s.a

These evangelists are intolerant of other faiths esp Hinduism and Buddhism . Hindu beliefs predate 5000 years and have deep philosophical concepts and yoga. if you actually read the Hindu Texts, you will find it non dogmatic and profound.

So please these duggar types should keep to themselves..

      • Isabelle says:

There is no mention of missionaries?

      • Bells says:

Even though I’m not sure this article is the right place for it, I see your point, Concerned. The Duggars have heavily endorsed missionaries in the past (I think Derick Dillard met Jill when they were both doing missionary work in Nepal), and I’ve heard an insane number of horror stories of how missionaries have exploited people reeling from the Nepal disaster using scare tactics while berating their indigenous culture. It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if the Duggars endorsed these activities.

      • anon321 says:

I have friends who are BSNs and evangelical Christians. They join missions, national and international, to provide services for people who have difficulty receiving medical care. You can’t paint everyone with the same brush.

    • M.A.F. says:

Concerned- what are you going on about?

    • Detritus says:

This whole incident makes me sick.

Parents valuing their eldest son over their youngest daughters. Parents asking their daughters to forgive and live with their abuser despite him never seeking therapy or facing reprecussions.

A psychopath clearly more sorry he got caught and publicized than he is about the damage he caused his sisters and others.

A criminal cop offering moral advice on his own area of failure.

How can you consider yourself moral with all this? Because you know jimbob considers himself a paragon of morality.

Is anyone looking out for the Duggar girls?

      • Melissa says:

Notice that he regrets “the recent media reports”. That pretty much validates your opinion that he’s sorry that he was outed, and that’s about it.

    • Tiffany :) says:

This is a chart that shows how their church instructs people to handle abuse. Truly, truly sickening.

  2. Amy says:

    …ugh, just…ugh.

…I need a break from the whole world.

Josh Duggar, Lena Dunham, Mama June – I’d really like to enjoy my celebrity gossip without a slice of years long child molestation and abuse. Pardon my French but I wish the lot of them would rot in hell. Plus the children they’re still exposed to!

    • original kay says:

      I hear you.

      My heart hurts today 🙁

    • Kitten says:

      Don’t forget Polanski and Allen.

      • doofus says:

Kitten, I’ve been wanting to refer you to a video…

Over on HuffPost, there’s a short video of Scottish Fold kittens yawning.

not only unbelievably cute, but a great palate cleanser…it’s in their “Good News” section but also on their home page.

      • Kitten says:

        Thanks, doofus!

        *runs off to Huffpost*

Ok so I just watched it four times. Absurd cuteness.

Thanks, again. I really needed that 🙂

      • doofus says:

ha! I watched it a few times myself…they are SO cute.

    • Nymeria says:

What you said, Amy. It makes you wonder if the whole dang world has gone mad.

    • PrincessMe says:

June is pissing me off to no end, right now on top of this Josh stuff. She has to insert herself into this and say “oh look, we weren’t that bad”. YOU WERE THAT BAD, JUNE. Yes, TLC should cancel this show, and yes Josh was a horrible horrible person for what he did (I feel so bad for those poor girls), and I don’t think Jim Bob and Michelle did enough to help any of their children (especially the victims).
But yes June, YOU WERE THAT F@CKING BAD because you brought BACK the man who did unspeakable things to your own child. A man who was not your own flesh and blood. A man who you did not have to see EVER again. At least the Duggars had to grapple with how they would handle this since both the abuser and the abused were their own children.
BTW, before anyone says I’m defending the Duggars, I’m not. I’m not a fan of theirs and I want to see the back of them, but June just really pushed me over the edge with all of these awful people. Ugh!

      • Melissa says:

It’s a shame that you had to add that disclaimer at the end.

Your point was pretty darn clear. People will pounce over anything.

      • FLORC says:

Ranty, but rational. No pouncing needed.

  3. grabbyhands says:

What a disgusting excuse for a human being.

    • Sabrine says:

I had a feeling there was something creepy and pervy about Josh Duggar. I amazed myself that I actually was right! His father isn’t any better. He covered it up until the statute of limitations expired so Josh wouldn’t be charged.

      • Dr.Funkenstein says:

        This.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

Citizens! Lobby your legislatures to drop the statute of limitations for prosecution of child abuse. That statute was written to protect abusive adults, not to protect children. You can find out the current law in your state and what victims’ rights organizations are doing, if anything, to change it. Many legislators are amenable to argument; archaic laws stay on the books only because no one has challenged them.

There is no statute of limitations for laying charges of sexual assault in Canada. It doesn’t mean victims always come forward, that is a problem in Canada just as much as in the USA, but at least they don’t face this nonsense perpetuated by the structure of the laws (“Oh honey, it was so long ago, let it go.”) The only people who benefit from the statute are criminals like Bill Cosby and Josh Duggar.

      • moomoo says:

12 years ago does not constitute “long ago past.”

It saddens me that these girls had to live in that hell for 3 years, and then for another decade after Daddy made them “forgive” their abuser. It’s a testament to brainwashing that none of them poisoned their brother.

      • Irishserra says:

I agree. I can’t help but feel that his parents hold a HUGE slice of accountability for what happened to the girls. It was their job to get their messed up child to the proper authorities, treatment and away from young children and save the subsequent girls from suffering. The recidivism rate for those who commit sexual offenses against children is extremely high, so sending him to do “hard labor” with a friend for three months is just bull$#it! I’m so worried about his children right now.

Can his parents be penalized in any way for their part? I doubt it, if Josh Duggar is now “untouchable.” Ugh. This family…

  4. loud noises says:

can he be convicted of this? do the victims have to come out for there to be an investigation? will his wife leave him (probably not)? oh my god so many questions.

    • TQB says:

I read somewhere else that the statute of limitations has passed, so, no. (Vomits.)

    • Red32 says:

The statute of limitations was up by the time the police were able to talk to the girls. And the only reason the police got involved at all was because someone outside the family contacted Oprah who alerted authorities but by then the statute of limitations had passed.

    • launicaangelina says:

There should NEVER be a statute of limitations on any sexual assault. Disgusting.

      • Brittney B says:

Yeah, I really don’t understand this law either.

If anything, sexual assault (and especially child molestation) should have a *longer* window of time in which to prosecute it. Victims often suffer in silence for years before they tell anyone. And the repercussions are longer than most crimes, too… it sticks with them for life.

      • buzz says:

American Taliban legislators want their to be a statute of limitations.

Because women be lyin’ and bitches be crazy and all that. “She enticed him.” “She dressed and acted proactively.”

When it comes to men and their P****** they cannot and should not be expected to control themselves or suffer any related consequences. Because Jeebus.

That is the reason there is a SOL. Freaky, disgusting, horrible and frightening. This type of religious extremism is harmful and dangerous and it’s becoming more and more of problem in this country.

      • LNG says:

In Canada there are no limitation periods for sexual assault in the criminal context, and in many provinces in the civil context as well. Many provinces are changing their legislation so there is no limitation period for domestic violence either.

I agree, it is incredibly important that there be no limitation period for this type of claim. Most people keep it a secret, but also many do not realize the true impact on their life until much much later.

    • loud noises says:

thanks for the comments on whether he can be convicted: follow up question – if the girls come out now and put claims to the police, could he be convicted then? like, charge him again? or something, if this makes any sense?

      • Red32 says:

Unfortunately that’s not likely. These girls are kept uneducated and completely dependent on their parents/husbands. They are very insulated and only know the community that protected Josh in the first place. Coming forward would carry huge consequences to their lives as they know it.

      • LNG says:

The limitation period has passed, so even if the girls did come forward now he couldn’t be prosecuted.

      • holly hobby says:

The only recourse is through civil court where you sue for monetary damages. But since these are his sisters I doubt that will happen.

  5. Joy says:

I’m not only disgusted with this pervert and his actions, but also all the people who are rushing to his defense. Oh he made a mistake!! He said he was sorry!!! He was a horny teenage boy just exploring!!! No, he was and is a predator. This went on for years, and I would bet my next paycheck it still is. I’m sure in their sick twisted minds the girls brought it upon themselves.

    • paleokifaru says:

I agree with you but I also want to add that he’s been supported in his mindset by his family and community. He’s an adult now and has been for some time and absolutely could have sought out another way of thinking. I’d like to say that responses he gets to this now would maybe make him and his wife rethink this mindset and have him and them go to therapy. Unfortunately, he’s still very much in sync with his family and their community and I just don’t see that happening. And someone in that family, with the press they’re getting about this now, could conceivably step up and try to change the discussion about sex in their faith but I think unfortunately they’d be shunned. I am in no way excusing Josh’s reprehensible actions but I will say that I think they’ll see this repeated over and over again and toss a boatload of excuses at it if they don’t change the ways sex is discussed and perceived. Hiding sexuality and shoving it under the rug like they do and making the *normal* behaviors sinful is such a ripe breeding ground for almost normalizing to them the *abnormal* and *abusive* sexual behaviors. It all has to be hidden anyway so it may all seem equally bad to a developing young person. I’ll be praying for his victims to be strong enough to not buy into what Josh and his parents are perpetuating and to help themselves and their children recognize who is at fault.

    • Sherry says:

I keep reading that people are supporting him, but have yet to see it. WHO is supporting him? Frankly, I wonder if he’s the only Duggar son who has done this, or is he the only one we know about?

I find their upbringing disturbing (and that’s putting it mildly). The girls are subservient to the boys. They are responsible for making the men “stumble.” There is no social interaction with others, even into adulthood without parental supervision and control. The father picks out the husbands for the girls.

It’s just all so controlling and unhealthy. It’s like they are in a cult and need deprogramming. There are many, many good Christians out there (I hope I am one) who do not need to be shut off from the rest of the world in order to love God and one another as Christ instructed us.

These children need to get out on their own and experience life, then decide if this is the kind of life they want for themselves.

      • Hawkeye says:

@Sherry, one place to see a lot of support for Josh Duggar is on the Family Research Council’s Facebook page. People are actually commenting that “he without sin cast the first stone,” that he made a mistake, he was young, and on and on. I don’t recommend going there.

      • BearcatLawyer says:

This is one sin I HAVE NEVER and WOULD NEVER commit. So yeah, I feel TOTALLY okay with casting stones in this case!

      • Red32 says:

I went to the TLC Facebook page, and their fans are out in force “God had forgiven Josh, it’s not your place to judge!” and “the Devil wants this show off the air, don’t let him win!”

So to recap – guy who molests his little sisters over and over again = good guy, people who are horrified by his actions = the Devil. And this is all the gay liberal agenda’s fault.

My head hurts from the stupidity.

      • paleokifaru says:

What scares me is not only that Josh is being validated with these comments but that his victims are being victimized further by the public. And it’s supporting the way all of these people have been raised which is just…I can’t.

And frankly they’re stepping further than simply saying it’s between him and God because they’re assuming he’s repentant and God has forgiven him. Ugh.

      • buzz says:

apparently there is a lot of support for him on his Instagram page and on twitter? ick.

      • buzz says:

“he without sin cast the first stone,”

yeah that is definitely the attitude this crowd has when talking about anyone outside their extremist clique. NOT.

      • Kitten says:

There are people supporting him on the other thread, right here in C/B.

      • holly hobby says:

MIke Huckabee came out on his Facebook supporting him.

    • Hawkeye says:

Agree 100%, Joy. He doesn’t need an advocate; his victims and particularly his sisters do. I feel nauseated just thinking about how violated and alone they must be feeling. Not only were they horrifically abused by their brother, but they were also heartbreakingly betrayed by their parents. Also, it bears repeating that the state trooper who gave Josh a stern talking to after that dim Jim Bob turned him a year after the allegations came to light is himself serving hard time for child pornography: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3091071/PICTURED-State-trooper-let-Josh-Duggar-wake-alleged-child-molestation-charges-later-went-prison-child-pornography-charges.html

      • Pamela says:

“Also, it bears repeating that the state trooper who gave Josh a stern talking to after that dim Jim Bob turned him a year after the allegations came to light is himself serving hard time for child pornography”

This REALLY scares me. I mean, how much of a coincidence would it be for Jim-Bob to bring him to that cop and that cop just happens to be a pedophile? It scares me because I feel like Jim-Bob KNEW the cop was a creep, and went to him for advice on hiding crimes as opposed to getting Josh a “talking to”. If Jim-Bob is knowingly befriending Pedos…well, that makes this all that much scarier.

      • Hawkeye says:

@Pam, me too. I don’t want to make baseless accusations against people, but it feels like beyond coincidence that Jim Bob specifically asked that guy to speak to Josh; almost like Jim Bob knew that the state trooper and Josh could relate to each other.

      • Chichi says:

Knowing these religious types, Jim Bob probably DID pick that Trooper because he knew of his own pedo tendencies. The logic goes something like this man confessed to us at Bible study that he had fiddled with kids.We prayed for him and afew days later hereported to the group that he was now miraculously cured. We believe him. We want him to mentor our son to overcome his pedo ways. Praise Jeebus.

      • Cici says:

In another article it was mentioned that one of Duggar’s pastor friends had sexually abused underaged girls for years. So one of Jim Bob’s friends is has been convicted of child porn and other for pedophilia and his son was sexually abusing his daughters. What a great environment he has raised his daughters in. Maybe he should put his own house in order before lecturing American how to leave their lives or how awful it’s for unmarried consenting adults to have sex.

      • doofus says:

CiCi, makes one wonder about Dim Bulb’s own sexual proclivities, no?

    • Isabelle says:

He got caught & it’s the only reason why he stopped. The most disgusting thing he said: “happened a long time ago”. First it didn’t, second its is the words of someone that has totally let go of harming other people. on the verge of sociopathy. grew up a conservative evangelical area, one of the the things they teach is, let go of guilt because you are forgiven. Such BS. Feeling guilt is a need emotion , an appropriate emotion & the only emotion that will lead you to true repentance. God becomes their outlet of where they confess all of their sins, so they can ignore the victims if they chose to do so & have no guilt about it.

    • moomoo says:

OH, he said he was sorry! Okay, nevermind.

This reminds me of my high school history teacher who always said that members of the mob were Catholic so they could confess their murderous sins and still be forgiven.

      • Paleokifaru says:

Wow as a Catholic I would have been really offended about that distortion of the confessional and I would have walked out and complained to the school board.

      • msw says:

That isn’t a commentary on Catholics, it is a commentary on a loophole in Catholic beliefs some bad people exploit.

    • Jenna says:

The whole culture is based around the idea that women, being made in ADAM’S image are flawed, whereas men who got first crack at God’s printer are based in his image and are perfect. Women have to serve men to achieve a sort of heavenly greencard, men just have to not chip the paint too much on their innate perfection to get in.

The girls will/have been/are blamed. They will blame themselves. A whole new generation of cutters, depressives, broken women entering the world (I’m going on watching my own generation of this crap enter the world. To this day I struggle, and I’m one of the lucky ones who got the hell out.) thanks to this kind of horseshit. Only with these poor kids, they are going to go in with no real education and no backup. (Which makes me put this out on a website – some miracle happens and someone reads this who needs help? Post on here and holler. If I can help, a sister has to keep the good she got in getting away going. I’ll do what I can. On my own scuffed but still there honor.)

Oh, and folks have wondered about why he was allowed to resign? While I wasn’t in that boardroom meeting (proof of that, no news stories this week about “6’2 Valkyrie descends on pseudo church/politico group, dozens of people found bloody and bound in the halls clutching notes filled with thousands of ‘we will not employ child molesters’ lines handwritten begging to be taken to the local prison and charged as accessories after the fact”) I will proffer this small amount of what I grew up in to explain. I was molested as a kid. (Raped later too, it’s all been just… a lot of character building) The man was a deacon in the church who went after a lot of little girls. Through each accusation made over 15 years, he wasn’t even pulled off children’s church duties until things were learned one way or the other. He wasn’t pulled off years later when the body of a young girl was found in his car. Not even when another was found buried on his property. Only after his CONVICTION ~AND~ a half dozen suicide letters of molestation victims were plastered all over the church and it’s governing board members front doors (and their workplaces, and their cars… and – opens eyes wide and looks innocent- I just CAN’T figure out where they all came from!) was it finally decided he was guilty enough to be kicked off the freaking letterhead.

It’s a sickness. It’s not just in the body of the rapist. Not all churches are evil… but once it’s church dogma to say men are pure and women flawed copies starts, the evil will creep and grow until you reach a point where it’s no more evil to kick a dog then rape a girl.

Going to go see if there is any whiskey left in the house… gonna be a bad day.

      • Jax says:

I’m so sorry, Jenna. I hope you find the healing you deserve. At least you
know you are not a flawed copy by now because I can see your perfection shining bright.

      • msw says:

I have to quit this thread after this comment. Thanks for writing it, because it is extremely important… Just profoundly upsetting.

  6. kri says:

He is an evil, sniveling, sociopathic narcissist. He exemplifies what a molester is and does. And those around him knew. They let kids around him. He has a daughter. And he asks for prayrs for himself. He is a classic pedophile. I almost don’t want to know anymore because it is making me have flashbacks. I will pray, for sure. I pray that TLC gets rid of these people and this show TODAY.

  7. CL says:

    What a fraking jerk.

Why on earth are people/fans defending him and his parents? They let him move back into the house, and his victims had to live with him. What about counseling for the girls? What about supporting THEM, and doing what God would want for THEM??

Parenting fail of huge magnitude. TLC needs to drop them like a hot potato. Since Oprah is all over this, I hope she finds a way to help the girls. Just not Dr Phil!

    • doofus says:

“What about counseling for the girls? What about supporting THEM, and doing what God would want for THEM??”

because in that f-ed up cult they call a “religion”, women-folk don’t matter. their sole purpose is to please their husband and bear children. besides, in the cult’s views, those harlots brought it upon themselves by tempting poor Josh with their (8-year old?!) sexual wiles.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

The girls were probably told to pray for God for forgiveness since they had caused their brother to stumble. I just can’t with these people. They should all be in prison. Convicts LOOOOOOVE child molesters to death in there, I hear.

      • Size Does Matter says:

I’d love to hear what the four year old did to entice her brother *said with utmost disgust and revulsion*. Breathe?

      • doofus says:

Size, it’s really disgusting, isn’t it? it’s along the same lines of the schools that ban certain types of clothing for HS girls because they might “distract” the boys.

so, the girls are responsible for controlling the boys sexuality? totally absolves him of any responsibility for his own sexual “urges”. it’s never the poor, manipulated boy’s fault…always the wanton harlot’s fault.

and people wonder why we have such a problem with rape culture.

      • Christin says:

If we could hear what the parents have to say (off record) about this, we’d probably be even more disgusted.

The person who wrote the tip to Harpo should be commended. They had to have the background on this mess, and I agree they probably sent it to TLC as well. I suspect TLC had some idea there might be some serious dirt in their backyard, just as the tipster warned Harpo.

  8. aims says:

Typical. He doesn’t get it nor does his base. He isn’t the victim he is the perpetrator. He preyed on little girls who didn’t know how to protect themselves. They didn’t ask for it as some in their base may suggest. This just reaffirms how disgusting and warped this family and their supporters are.

    • pinetree13 says:

I feel sad thinking about how his victims are being made to feel terrible and that they ‘ruined’ their parents careers (the show) by their ‘tempting’ their brother. :S

  9. Katie says:

Kaiser you are right. There is no remorse in his comments. He seems only to be concerned with his image, not sorry for his crimes, only that he’s been caught. I can’t believe anna married him knowing his past predilictions. I can’t believe she has had children with him and I really can’t believe that the Duggar parents who claim to love God so much have decided to cover this up when members of their own family are being named as his victims. What kind of parent allows this? Is it because they’re girls and they were born into a family where their only value is in breeding and raising children?

  10. Betti says:

Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – am sure something about Daddy Duggar will come out about him doing the same thing.

    Disgusting family!!

    • Shambles says:

Sadly, my first thought was, “I’m sure we’re only scratching the surface.”

      • Betti says:

Yes could also explain why the older girls couldn’t wait to get married and leave the parental home. There is more to this story – he’s learned his behaviour from someone!

      • Mel M says:

@Betti – MTE, no wonder they are rushing to get the heck outta there!

    • Alex says:

On page 23 of the police report, one of the girls said she liked it when Jim Bob tickled her tummy. UGH.

      • lem says:

I mean this without any judgment but how in the world you have managed to read into page 23 of that police report is beyond me. there is no way i could handle that.

    • M.A.F. says:

I’ve always gotten the creepy vibes from their dad. The girls dress the way they do & style their hair the way they do because that is how their dad likes it, they are meant to look like their mom. The girls themselves said it on an episode.

  11. Shambles says:

“Let’s just say they’re both pretty disgusting people and neither of them should be a part of a reality show.”

Or let’s just nix the idea of reality shows altogether, forever and ever amen. Stop glorifying these disgusting people who are, at best, vapid, useless idiots, and at worst, child molesters.

I’m still too disgusted to say anything articulate about the Duggar cult specifically. My life was impacted by behavior like this, and it hits too close to home. I hope he rots, that’s all I can say.

    • Kiddo says:

      Tell it, tell it.

    • doofus says:

      What Kiddo said.

    • TQB says:

I was, for some reason, watching Entertainment Tonight last night. Oh I remember – I wanted to see the Letterman coverage and they interviewed the cast of Magic Mike. After disposing of these two pieces of what I would call genuine entertainment-industry news, they moved on to a Kardashian somethingorother. And I realized, at some point some executive said, these actual celebrities require us to deal with publicists, screen questions, book interviews, and generally only give us the time of day when they have something to promote. What if we took regular people, with no talent and no reason to be famous, and just created our own “stars” to cover? Instead of groveling to them, they would beg US for coverage!

That’s what reality TV is: the entertainment industry making their own news to sell back to us.

    • paleokifaru says:

I could not agree more. I’m so tired of the endless trash being paraded as celebrities and I’m horrified that my SS knows who the freaking Kardashians are but is unclear about Oprah! This is the culture we are creating people!

  12. FingerBinger says:

I’ll pray for him to fall down a flight of stairs.

    • Who ARE these people? says:

      Empowering image!

    • I Choose Me says:

Hear, hear! I don’t usually wish violence on people but I hope somebody beats him with a large and heavy bible.

    • Kitten says:

      LOL

    • holly hobby says:

I pray that his equipment will turn green and fall off. Or one of his kids or Anna find a pair of scissors and put it to good use.

      • PortlandJan says:

Call me barbaric, but my preference would be for his victims to take turns going all-out Lisbeth Salander on his pasty, sorry ass. With nitric acid instead of tattoo ink.

  13. Wren says:

Ah yes, the “pity poor me” defense. His statement is worded like he was caught stealing sandwiches from the school cafeteria. The really sad thing is, he was probably raised to believe that what he did really isn’t that big of a deal and he’s mostly upset that it’s coming back to haunt him.

    • Kiddo says:

He’s upset that the latest judgement of his appalling actions is interfering with the concerted effort judgement organization that he was part of.

  14. doofus says:

F this F-ing hypocrite and all his supporters.

slate has a great collection of pics of him with just about EVERY GOP prez candidate, too.

oh, and Anna?…keep a VERY CLOSE eye on your kids.

  15. Kitten says:

I just can’t with all the f*cking God talk.

    • Shambles says:

Last night, when I read the whole “this brought our family closer to God” drivel, I was actually nauseous. It reads like, “You’ll be pleased to know that we’re closer to God than ever.” Because we care. Because THAT’S what matters. That’s a big f*ck you to all the girls he permanently traumatized, as if being a Quiverful woman isn’t enough of a f*ck you.

      • Dr.Funkenstein says:

Yes, sadly some of these folks seem to imagine that God’s forgiveness equals a complete pass on any and all behavior. Empathy? Apparently unimportant once God has forgiven you. Atonement? Apparently not necessary since you are actually now in a “closer” relationship with God. Nice how that works. Sorry, not buying that version of “spirituality.”

      • Kitten says:

Exactly. I’m an atheist, but even I’m offended by them invoking the word of God in this context.

If I were a religious person, I would be even more appalled at this bastardization of spirituality, this perversion of something that is sacred to so many.

        It’s f*cking repulsive.

These people straight-up f*cking repulse me.

    • original kay says:

      this.

    • Kiddo says:

It’s the get out of jail free God Card! Isn’t it the staple of convicts everywhere?

      • Kitten says:

You know? That’s exactly it. Using religion to absolve themselves of their accountability in what is undeniably unforgivable behavior.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

When Jesus talked about loving one another as He loves us, this was NOT the kind of love to which he was referring!!!

    • Jackie says:

      I could not agree more!

    • Tiffany :) says:

I am so worried for those girls. In other families, there is at least a chance that someone would be looking out for the girls best interest when this was happening. In this household, where females are second class citizens and must yield to the whims of the males, I really fear that they were blamed and made to feel ashamed for this. It doesn’t sound like the family was sincerely trying to help them at all.

      • Kitten says:

Yeah it’s such a hostile and oppressive environment for women to grow up in. We’ve seen how these people treat animals. I think women are only a small step up from that.

Gah! I am so angry right now.

      • Tiffany :) says:

        Me too, Kitten!

  16. Nicolette says:

    I’ll pray for him.

Dear Lord, may this sick twisted pervert have what’s coming to him. May his victims be strong enough to stand against him. May his children never know the horror he has inflicted upon other innocents. May his hypocritical family and their show be taken off the air. And in the end may his penis shrivel up and fall off.

    Amen.

  17. PunkyMomma says:

That this creep has made these admissions should be enough for TLC to immediately cancel all Duggar programming. The father covered up the son’s actions upon his own daughters. Enough of these creeps using their righteous faith as a shield for their reprehensible behavior.

    • Esmom says:

      Yes, yes and yes.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I tried to contact TLC today…but I couldn’t find a “contact us” section on their website. Its like their hiding.

      • doofus says:

They ARE hiding. no comments yet.

to add, Mama June is now considering suing TLC if they don’t cancel the clown-car v*gina show. they cancelled her show even though (her words) SHE never committed a crime, and the pedophile associated with HER situation never appeared on her show.

and now, one of the main “characters” of the Duggar show is an ADMITTED pedo, and their show is still on.

I was never a fan of Honey Boo Boo, but she’s got a point.

      • GracePM says:

Post comments on the TLC Facebook page.

I would like to see the Duggar letter of resignation from TLC!

  18. Prim says:

So who molested him and taught him to do it when the children were asleep? That kind of behaviour doesn’t happen independently.

  19. TQB says:

I avoided all of this yesterday because, really, there is only so far you ever want the idea of schadenfreude to go. This is just horrifying and so very sad. Those poor girls. So much anger and concern over fetuses and gays and ZERO love and protection for LITTLE GIRLS. My best friend in college was molested by her teenage brother. It was a horrible, family-destroying situation. Her feelings were so conflicted – she loved her brother and felt so much shame. You want to talk victim guilt? It’s easier to blame yourself than your brother.

  20. Amy M. says:

Has TLC issued a statement yet? Isn’t this grounds to cancel the show?

    • notasugarhere says:

As long as it is making money, they’d won’t cancel it. Same situation with A&E and Duck Dynasty.

  21. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I hope TLC has set aside/gives a sum of money to any male or female that isn’t Jim Bob/Michelle to get OUT of that house.

  22. mia girl says:

Christian faith does not give one the permission to be a hypocrite. The Duggar parents and Josh have conveniently forgotten their very real sins in the name of pointing out what they believe to be the sins in others.

Those poor girls are the true victims of their brother, their parents, their sect, TLC, and now they have to deal with the world knowing. It is shameful.

The fact that these people deign to pass judgement on the morals of others makes my blood boil. Duggar mom and her anti-gay robo calls.

“What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say”
    – Ralph Waldo Emerson

    • Kiddo says:

On the plus side, every time this horrible story gets posted, the demon Scott Walker is in the frame, adding his support.

      • PunkyMomma says:

Yes. Thank you for pointing that out. Another creeper.

      • Isabelle says:

Good ole Huck is standing by his side as well. ugh to this male dominated bad side of Christianity.

  23. Canoki says:

This cult builds up sex as a religious activity that it doesn’t surprise me that this happened and with how little they seem to care about the women of their families, it shocks me even less. Ugh.

Sidenote: the header pic with that Twerp Walker turned my stomach. He wants to be our President and these are the folks he hangs out with. I’ll save some of my prayers for that to not happen not for the Pedo Duggar, I’ll throw some others out there for those poor girls.

  24. Lauren says:

I fear for his children and the possibility that he might be harming them as well. This whole situation is disgusting from the cop arrested for child porn saying it is okay to Jim Bob just putting out the illusion he was trying to stop her son from harming others. I really hope this will be the beginning of the end for this family. I don’t know why magazines like People are so obsessed with them. They are no better than a lot of other reality stars, they are just smug and hateful and use God as a cover for these things.

  25. CooCooCatchoo says:

Who is currently in charge of operations at TLC at this moment? The network’s mobile site is promoting the all-new episodes of “19 and counting,” and there is a marathon of the show broadcasting as we speak. Did they leave monkeys in charge of pushing the buttons over the long holiday weekend?!? TLC has some serious damage control to deal with as of, oh, 24 HOURS AGO. Either they don’t care or are completely clueless.
Run a test pattern and put a “site is down for maintainence” message on the website – TLC, do SOMETHING to show that you recognize the seriousness of this situation!

    • Red32 says:

Sadly, I think they are being swayed by the “only God can judge” brigade. It’s like they believe their religion makes them immune to the U.S. legal system.

  26. Lucky Charm says:

I wonder if this is really why Jana is frequently in D.C. – rather than having to help Anna with the kids, it’s more to keep an eye on their daughter and make sure Josh doesn’t do anything to her?

  27. minx says:

TLC has to dump this disgusting show NOW.

    • QQ says:

I actually just tweeted 2TLC last night ( and encourage you all to tweet and FB them about this: I asked if they were cancelling the Christian Bunny Rabbits Show NOW that they have a Molester in their midst or Later when the LQBTQ mathematical Odds kid (s) they have in their midst comes out

  28. Kiki says:

Oh I will pray for you alright. Pray for you to go to jail. Also I say this about theses “Jesus Freaks”, everyone reads the bible including the devil himself.

  29. CooCooCatchoo says:

The fact that the parents allegedly withheld the information from law enforcement until they were sure Josh couldn’t be prosecuted speaks VOLUMES about how disgusting they are. All the while, Josh was given access to his victims. And the abuse continued to happen. And the entire family was commanded not to breathe a word of it to anyone.
Those girls have been held captive in that house to protect their brother. Most are adult women now, and they’re still being told that theyre to do whatever their father tells them. They have been denied the right to move out, go to college or travel on their own. Law enforcement needs to investigate that whole situation, too. Those girls need access to therapists, they need protection from anyone who might be intimidating them to stay and keep their mouths shut, and they should be allowed to leave the home on their own free will immediately.
This situation is about to blow-up big time. Expect lawsuits and arrests in the immediate future.

  30. Kara says:

what irks me even more is that he tries to bring God into it. think about it Josh why would we pray to a god that let you do this?

  31. KellyBee says:

    Petition to cancel the Duggars.

    https://www.credomobilize.com/petitions/tell-tlc

  32. Abbicci says:

When you say: People got their hands on the resignation letter, do you mean people magazine. The same magazine that has given this nutbag cult multiple covers whenever one of the clown car wombs pops out another future tea bagger voter? Because they didn’t get their hands on it. I am pretty sure it was sent directly from the Duggars, probably based on an exclusive contract they have with People. The same contract that paid these cult loonies for exclusive pictures and stories every time one of them got married or had a baby.

Because People magazine should have people who do fact checking and research on their staff and if they are acting like they never heard of these accusations before I am going to call shenanigans.

People magazine is just as culpable as TLC for covering up/ not reporting this story . People magazine and TLC are partners in letting these people get rich and famous for being homophobic, misogynistic , backward thinking people who breed children specifically to vote and take over the country and make it a Theocracy.

    • lizzie says:

agree! people magazine has shoved this family down our throats for years and have made a mint. they are as responsible as tlc in promoting their awful, abusive, misogynistic lifestyle. it was bad enough to see the women in this family be systematically mentally abused with fear and threats – but to know now that they were also sexually abused is just too much to take. sadly – this is not surprising at all as extreme mental abuse usually escalates to physical abuse in some form.

    • holly hobby says:

Jess Cagle, People’s editor, disappoints me. He has put these clowns front and center every time he has a chance. Doesn’t he realize that these dummies are against what his stands for and they think he’s evil? Well I guess they will cooperate if it gives them publicity.

  33. Concerned says:

What’s wrong with Christian missionaries?

So please these duggar types should keep to themselves.

  34. bettyrose says:

I’m disgusted at myself for showing any respect at all for these parents on the last thread. They’re treating this like he got caught smoking weed or something, just an embarrassing youthful indiscretion with no victims.

  35. A says:

I know there is a special place in hell for this SOB.
I wish Anna woman-ed up and dumped his perv sorry a§§.

  36. Cindy says:

This is so F*ing depressing. Just all of it.

And isn’t it convenient when Christian dad goes to a cop, he just happens to be a sympathetic pedophile?

Thank you TLC, for bringing us these vile, bible thumping, child molesters. Sometimes I think the human race really isn’t worth the effort.

  37. Isabelle says:

Perfect headline CB!! The dude seems to be a straight up possible narcissist. me, me, me. Although this cult teaches men to even worship themselves.

  38. ichabod says:

19 and COUNTING??? Counting? As if the goal is to bring as many children into the world (simply because you can) with little regard for the consequences to the female who is in a constant state of breeding, and the many children being raised in an increasingly unhealthy and CULTish environment. This circus freak show family is being paid to mass produce children without concern for the implications to anything other than JimBob’s downright abusive behavior and attitude towards his wife, family, community, faith, natural environment, over populated planet with finite resources … and the list could go on. This family is a CULT where the victims (women/children) are controlled by indoctrination into a belief system and resulting narrative that justifies victim controlling abuse and self serving behavior … all in the name of God. This family doesn’t think twice about the message it is sending to families who are not being paid money to completely ignore the miracle of common sense. This story is no surprise amidst a world suffering from daily erosion and utter destruction by humans doing things in the “name of God.” The victims in this story are the ones who deserve the platform to speak and the understanding support to heal their lives’.

  39. db says:

Those poor girls, I hope in some way this offers some form of relief for them, that their abuser has to face some public consequences. Too bad he’s beyond shame.
Anytime people make a huge issue of how religious and devout they are I’m totally suspicious anyway. And here we are.
But on a more detached level, this is an interesting scenario. I mean, he was a kid himself at the time, just 12 (allegedly) when he began molesting, and still only 15 when it stopped (allegedly). Even if he had been charged, as a minor, in my state the record would have been sealed.
I think Jim Bob tried to address the problem with counseling — but why on earth to a cop? I guess their religiosity forbids family therapy too.

    • KellyBee says:

Josh never received actual counseling there’s a story about it in the link post.

      • db says:

I mean counseling in the sense of receiving guidance, obviously not professional. I highly doubt their cult permits outside professional counseling and relies instead on a system of elders or something, to keep it within their group.

    • CooCooCatchoo says:

I thought I read that Josh’s mother admitted that Josh didn’t actually attend counseling for this. The family just handled it internally with prayer. And they continued to allow him to live at home. Where he continued to abuse his sisters for at least 3 more years (at least that’s the last time he was alleged to have committed abuse).
I’m hoping that DSC will be monitoring the children’s safety in Josh’s and Jim Bob’s homes from now on. If more allegations are forthcoming (especially if they can be proven to have happened into his adulthood), he’ll be arrested and be named as a sex offender.
If I’m gonna pray for anyone in that family, it’s for his victims. I feel like the victims are going to come out of the woodwork now, like in Bill Cosby’s case. Josh had access to many young women – at home, through church, and via the huge families who call the Duggars their friends. The scope of this case is going to become much, much wider, mark my words. I truly hope that anyone he’s victimized finds the strength to speak out to put that weasel away. I hope the victims receive the support they need. He should not be given a “get out of jail free” pass. And he should NOT be allowed around any youngsters now, and maybe ever.

      • db says:

I agree, and have a feeling this might blow the cover on an even bigger story. His claim to have stopped abusing at age 15 just doesn’t wash. He’s gone out of his way to be in socially powerful, pillar of the community-type position that is the perfect cover for molesters. I hope his victims see what a mirage the Duggar family’s power actually is and come forth with their stories. No doubt there will be many.

  40. Paris says:

This man is disgusting! This man shameless!
He molested young girls and now he asks to pray for him, he asks to support him! How dare he to ask for support after something so disgusting? Child molester is asking for support? WTF?
    Child molestation is A SIN.
I think that he should go to prison! I think that child protective service and police should investigate this case.

I am ashed and disgusted when people try to excuse and forgive pedophile, child molester or rapist.

  41. Whitney says:

And it looks like TLC just pulled it from the schedule. That may be too little, too late though. This whole situation is just completely appalling.

  42. Jen43 says:

F*ck this guy and f*ck his parents

  43. Jess says:

Haven’t been able to keep up on the comments but it sure is different when a conservative, religious white male goes to the cops after actually committing a crime and he gets to walk. Guess there’s a different set of rules for white, conservative, straight, religious males and the rest of us!

  44. This bothers me in so many ways: I believe Josh wil be punished by God eventuually (Matheww 18) even if God has forgiven him..you reap what you sow! I also find it impossible not to blame the parents..after the first incident, the parents should have been super vigilent, it should not have happened again! The fact that it happened again, (…and again) says that Josh was driven, obsessed, determined, compelled, etc. Where were the parents?? (In their room boning?). I know some people with a large family, and the next to oldest son did this, they put a bell on his bedroom door.

  45. Randifan says:

He should keep his mouth shoot and be lucky, he won’t face a court or jail time.

  46. ..Not enough space to finish my comment- it happened again, the father beat his @ss, enrolled him in bonified counseling, put a dead bolt on the boys door, told him if there was a fire to escape out the window. You do what you gotta do! Now what us citizens should do, is boycott EVERY sponsor of their show and lifestyle. Also, let’s boycott the other clown show. ”Ks & Js”

  47. holly hobby says:

    Did anyone see this: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/05/22/mike-huckabee-josh-duggar
    sick sick sick

No Mike Huckabee, he was not a child. If he knew what he was doing he is an adult. He’s not a victim so there’s not need to protect his identity.

I hope he loses votes over this.

    • doofus says:

      FTA: (quoting Huck)

“He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities.”

except that they didn’t, and they weren’t.

  48. BearcatLawyer says:

So I went to InTouch’s website and read the redacted police reports…all 33 pages of them. The police interviews of the victims are extremely disturbing, and apparently they were filmed as the reports note that DVDs are available. You get the feeling from these reports that the girls have been coached in what to say and are sticking to a script provided by their parents. At least one girl – possibly Jana – started crying during her interview and admitted that she does not totally trust Josh.

My heart breaks for these girls. Not only were they victimized by their brother, but they were victimized again by their own parents who clearly put their family image and profit-making potential ahead of their emotional well being.

Thank God Oprah and her staff took the allegations seriously and made the proper reports. None of this might have come to light without them.

    • Detritus says:

      That is the worst part.

These poor girls, betrayed by their brother and their parents and the police AND their church.

  49. Jayna says:

Interesting. I read on links provided on CB about posters on blogs giving out this info. How did they get on TV with the series with that out there? Nice timeline.

    • Mark says:

Money I guess, the producer knew one day, it will surface to the public, but until then, they were able to make tons of money.

  50. Maddie says:

Why not pray for him? In his sexual predator delusional mind, he is the one that has been wronged, not the girls he forcibly fondled against their will.

Child molesters are selfish with their wants and desires and the mindset that their victims either wanted them or asked for it..

This guy isn’t going to change because he went along with the cover up and thinks of his actions as a mistake and not a violation against his victims

  51. Christin says:

Right now, words are not coming together for how I feel about this situation and a broader issue of hypocritical behavior from individuals claiming to be of faith.

People who espouse their religious beliefs (or lack thereof) in an OTT way ping my radar. However, I know some who are very dedicated to their faith / churches or are completely non-believers and are truly decent people. They do for others and respect everyone, regardless of beliefs. Then there are those who are so self-centered and self-righteous, as if they are the judge of all others’ behaviors.

This family has always pinged my radar as in things probably aren’t as they appear, but this level of damaging behavior is even worse than I suspected. Their statements are so self-centered and hollow, it beggars belief. It really frustrates me when someone claims they are forgiven by God, so they owe no one else who was harmed by their actions any apologies or attempts to make things right. It just hits close to home, because I know people who hide behind ‘forgiveness’ and somehow try to blame others (and I think that’s probably happening here).

  52. jamie says:

This molester should have been arrested and charged like all the rest of the creeps! If it was anybody else they would be charged! Asking for forgiveness there is no forgiveness for molesting children buddy. Sickening this whole family gives me the creeps!

  53. Mark says:

I guess the parents put the victms under pressure, to keep quiete. What wonderfull parents that family has. That must be an horror nobody who went through can imagine.

  54. Roxanne says:

This whole thing is disgusting. TLC knew (it took Harpo a minute). This guy and his parents are sick. I’m not watching this anymore and I want the show to go down in flames.
