Will Alicia Vikander star in ‘Assassin’s Creed’ with boyfriend Michael Fassbender?

Here are some new photos of Michael Fassbender and his girlfriend Alicia Vikander posing together in Monaco. Alicia accompanied Fassy to the Cannes Film Festival, where they hid out for nearly a week until the amfAR gala and Fassy’s Macbeth premiere. Alicia did not walk the carpet with him at either the amfAR gala or the premiere, but she was very conspicuous at both events. I guess Alicia had another reason for being there: she’s a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton, and she wore LV for all of her appearances. But it felt like she was mainly at Cannes to spend time with Fassy, maybe even to keep an eye on him considering several of his exes were out and about during the film festival.

In any case, after Cannes, Michael took Alicia to the Monaco Grand Prix, because Fassy loves cars. Alicia seems to be playing along rather well. I’ll give her some credit: she’s doing what it takes to maintain this. Usually Fassy goes through women pretty quickly, especially when they’re costars. His record seems to be a year-long relationship (Nicole Beharie). But I still have mixed feelings about Alicia in general. There’s something about Alicia that seems rather… thirsty? My main exposure to her was her W Magazine cover profile a few months ago, where she made sure we knew that Fassy was her boyfriend and that she plans to attend the Oscars to support three of her films next year. The fact that it seemed like she organized a pap-friendly makeout session with Fassy didn’t help either.

So, considering how quickly Fassy usually moves through ladies and given Alicia’s instance on being the one to “stick,” this should get interesting. A few days ago, Deadline reported that Alicia’s performance in Ex Machina got her such great buzz, she’s now an in-demand actress for a variety of projects. One of the big ones: Assassin’s Creed. That’s the long-gestating project starring (guess who?) Michael Fassbender. Fassy’s producing it too, which means he’s getting a say in casting. Up until now, Marion Cotillard was loosely attached to the female lead, but I guess Marion is being thrown over for Fassy’s girlfriend? And what happens if Fassy and Alicia break up before then? I also think it’s a bad idea to schedule projects with your boyfriend before the first film you made together even comes out – and God knows, The Light Between Oceans is going to SUCK. Even if Fassy acts his ass off and Alicia is perfect, it will still suck. The source material is soul-crushingly awful.

Oh, and the Deadline article also says Alicia is in talks to star opposite Matt Damon in the new Jason Bourne movie. Oooh, CB is going to get riled up if this little hussy puts her thirst all over Matty D.

  1. NUTBALLS says:

Yeah, she shouldn’t plan on this relationship lasting longer than the Oscar season. He’ll be ready to move on by then.

I enjoyed her in Ex Machina, but she doesn’t stand out as better than average though. I’m wondering why she’s getting so much attention.

With the buzz the Macbeth got at Cannes, I’m looking forward to seeing that when it comes out. Hopefully, not another Jane Eyre for The Assbender.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Lol, I didn’t like Mia Wasikowska in Jane Eyre….LOVED Fassy in it.

    • Original T.C. says:

I thought she was very good in Ex Machina. She got great reviews. But she also had buzz and great reviews from Anna Karenina and A Royal Affair. She was a critics darling before she met Fassy and can act in multiple languages without blinking an eye. The problem for her is she is not well known by the public. So maybe she’s with Fassy to increase her profile?

Yes she does look young but Fassy has a thing for young looking petite burnettes. Celebrity men are attracted to young, that’s never going to change.

      • Damn says:

Critics praise K.Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg and many others and yet they are IMO one note actors.
She did nothing special in A Royal Affair, it was the actor who played the king that was the stand out.

      • NUTBALLS says:

I’ve only seen her in Ex Machina and A Royal Affair. I liked her, but didn’t consider her performance particularly noteworthy.

I know Harv is pushing Macbeth for Fassy; is his also pushing Alicia for A Light Between Two Oceans or something else?

      • Abbott says:

IMDB says she’s also in Man from Unkle and The Danish Girl.

      • NUTBALLS says:

The Danish Girl could be nom #2 for Redmayne.

      • Virgo says:

@Nutballs Harvey is totally disinterested in Macbeth, and Fassy has jobs like his hopeful oscars role. The Light Beteen Oceans in sot distributed by Harvey, and it doesn’t seem something that the Academy could eat up.
@Original T.C. His last ex was not youn looking. He has even dated older women… His exes are actually very different.

    • Josefa says:

Same. I dont mind her, but she is so… just above average. Pretty but not a stunner, good actress but just good enough, etc. I keep reading about her like shes the next big thing and I dont get the hype.

      • renee28 says:

        You summed it up perfectly.

      • Anne says:

Yes, she feels like manufactured hype to me, as well. It’ll likely fizzle out eventually.

For all his faults, though, I’m still quite jealous of any girl who’s with MF. Sigh.

    • GlimmerBunny says:

Agree to disagree. To me she was amazing in “Ex Machina” and the best thing in “Anna Karenina”. I think it’s disappointing that many seem to dislike her because of who she’s dating because I think she’s talented, ambitios and honest – a winning combination in my book.

      • Abbott says:

WHAT?!? Vikander over Aaron Taylor-Johnson? But, those curls! The moustache! The dance scene!

      • Kiki says:

No one said she isn’t a great actress, but her whole demeanor to prove that she is an “it girl” and the way she is getting her way by kissing ass is a problem. If she was different, like humble and still be confident she would make me like her more. But this smug and arrogant persona does not make her likable. And I don’t care about Michael Fassbender at this point, because he is winning.

      • GlimmerBunny says:

I absolutely loved Aaron as Vronsky too!

And yeah Kiki I get what you mean, I guess I just don’t see an ass-kissy it-girl but an ambitious actress. She’s doesn’t seem amug or arrogant to me… But maybe it’s just because I’m scandinavian as well and in general we’re more prone to be honest, blunt and candid, not hide behind fake politeness.

      • NUTBALLS says:

I didn’t see a a wealth of expression in her acting, tho’ playing a robot in Ex Machina, I wouldn’t expect that. Maybe I need to see Royal Wedding again, because I don’t remember much expression from her then either. Perhaps it’s just the two roles I’ve seen her in so far. I’ll have to check out Anna Karenina.

I think she’s very pretty, but I don’t see a lot of pictures of her smiling though. I wonder if that’s where some are getting the smug and arrogant vibe. I certainly don’t care if she’s banging Fassy; his hotness is counterbalanced by his aging smokers face and inability to date someone longer than a year. But I really enjoyed his performance in Shame and Hunger, particularly.

On a side note, I saw that Slow West is available to view on VUDU for those that don’t have it in their cinemas. Not sure if it’s available internationally, but it’s $6.99 for US viewers.

      • Grace says:

I really like Vikander too. I appreciate her ambition, her fashion sense (although I can’t really see it these pics) and hope she hits it big time. She and Fassy make a nice couple. Better than Fassy and Madalina.

    • Bell says:

Page six this morning says, “Alicia Vikander was the toast of Cannes this year..”

  2. Elisa the I. says:

they are both very attractive people, but doesn’t she look really young? like *could be his daughter* young.

    • NUTBALLS says:

She’s 26, he’s 38. At her age, it’s bordering on ick. If she was in her 30’s, 12 years wouldn’t be a big deal, imo.

      • jinni says:

Even if she was 30, it still would change the fact that Fassbender looks like a hard 50 in the face. If he didn’t look so old for his age their age difference wouldn’t look so extreme.

      • NUTBALLS says:

The smoking is destroying his looks, that’s for sure.

      • Anne says:

Yes, by appearances, it’s looks a bit . . . unbalanced. She is, thankfully, much older than she looks, though. And I suspect he’s an immature 38.

    • CL says:

She looks about 16, and he looks early 40’s. I agree, the smoking has taken it’s toll on his face.

  3. sofia says:

“The fact that it seemed like she organized a pap-friendly makeout session with Fassy didn’t help either.”

Why do you say that? They have been photographed before in Australia I think. Am I missing something?

    • Lola says:

There are pictures of them in NYC, go to JJ you can see them there.
Which brings me to in NYC (in those pictures that you have not seen yet) she is holding her purse while they are kissing, meanwhile in these her purse is completely open. Don’t get it, does she think Europe is a place where there are no pic pocket? Is she that trusting or is Cannes a secure place to be?

Now, for the real question (at least for me) NO Emerson Johnson?? I would like to see a picture of the friend, not the actor… but alas … it’s not going to happen! 🙁 I should start a hashtag trend with Emerson J. name…. I really think the friend is like the JUICE!!

I understand why some consider this a PR relationship. God knows that there are enough documentaries out there of Old Hollywood that narrate the story of actors and their love affairs, and later people learned that the actor was gay, so no love affairs with the ladies took place.
She is a pretty young woman. Don’t think I have seen anything she has been on. But let’s be blunt, they are the ones that know “what” is going on in their relationship. Been reading other comments, and -if what others are writing comes from a place of inside knowledge- this outing apparently was a consolation price of Fassbender being more with other people at amFar … IF the case, then this is sad, imo. Maybe she should work on getting an excellent contract with this movie (heck include some sort of royalties just in case it becomes a franchise), and if true that he could be two timing her, then she should play the game right back and then when the money is secure in her CLOSED purse, leave.

      • Kiki says:

@ Lola. I think you have a great point. Why didn’t I think of hat. Are we separated at birth. I think we know the hollywood business like the back of our hands. Other than that I think Swedish twinkle toes ( yes that’s what I called AV) should be a bit smarter than that. Because use people for your Hollywood status is going to bite her in her little bottom.

      • Lola says:

@Kiki: I must confess, I don’t know the Hollywood business, that’s why I ask questions and hopefully people reply. I am interested in who reads these threads, it seems to me that PR people at least do, from what I have gathered.

I have nothing against Alicia V. Although your nick-name is funny. Can’t judge, I will own up to the fact that I did write that Madalina G. was She Who Shall Not Be Named – I thought it funny-, plus people were always writing back to me that Madalina was part of Mandela’s AIDS Foundation and did work with children. I did give the info the benefit of the doubt and did the research. But, it did not hold water for me, and tbh those two subject matters are dear to me for a number of reasons. So I have little tolerance for people that use causes for their benefit and not to work for the cause.
Could it be that both are using each other? I don’t know. I know this, actors don’t pay for my life, nor make up my happiness, you create your own.
        Wish you a great day!

      • Kiki says:

@lola, well that is said to a point well done. I personally don’t care for any of the two. But I will say this, I am working very hard to make ends meet for me as well. And even if I am not so lucky and possibly never will ( except for being alive) I am creating my destiny on my own terms and I thi you should too. That is what make you strong. I could only wish that mf girl fling could see that.

      • Kanky says:

@Lola: where did you read/hear about fassy being with other people at amFar? was it one of his many ex present at the event??? Lol-ing at consolation price haha

      • mia says:

@Kanky Fassy chatted friendly with Zoe Kravitz and his last ex. He didn’t seem very pleased to talk with the latter, but he’s friend with Zoe,who was also spotted with him and Alicia some days before. I don’t think Alicia was bothered by his exes.

      • Lola says:

@Kanky: Look at an older post about Fassbender here on CB (I think he was with Marion C). Someone posted an instagram link on the comment section.
@mia: LMAO! Could imagine that talking to an ex that published via picture (with the location coordinates) where you live would present a problem… LMAO!!! Oh, wait … she was hacked (total sarcasm intended)… although, this would mean some of you ladies (that post here and elsewhere are hackers! — oh, that idea I would love….

  4. Damn says:

For all wondering why she’s getting so much buzz, well Harvey The Pig Weinstein has chosen her as his next favourite girl. There are pics from Cannes of her and him.
She’s as thirsty as Blake Lively.

    • renee28 says:

Yes. She’s been pretty chummy with Weinstein for a while.

    • loud noises says:

she’s sooo thirsty. she said in an interview she’s ready to be better / more widely known now. i mean good on her for ambition. i loved her in royal affair, she is a great actress, i just wish she’d chill a bit.

      • OhDear says:

I give her credit for being upfront about it and owning it instead of the usual “oh, I never wanted to be famous, I’m so private” BS.

      • jammypants says:

I love that she completely bypassed the too cool to care / humble beginnings crowd and straight up tell the world she’s ready for fame and recognition.

      • NUTBALLS says:

I’m not particularly bothered by her naked ambition. Actors are very ambitious and I’d rather someone own it on the front end than pretend not to care all the while doing everything possible to get noticed and make a name for themselves. She’s positioned well to increase her visability so it’ll be interesting to see how things shake out in the next few years for her.

    • julia says:

Next favourite it girl for a movie with Cara Delevingne…

  5. Oobejabbawonka says:

I do not get the FAssy thing. At all. He grosses me out. she’s seems fine.

    • sofia says:

He doesn’t make my kettle sing either.

    • NUTBALLS says:

Me too… until I saw Shame. *fans self*

    • Lola says:

She has a pretty face. English is not my native language so I give her the benefit of the doubt when it comes to how she expressed herself in interviews, you lose some of the nuance of a language that is not your own sometimes. So, I really can’t say that she is a snob.
Part of his fandom, I think, is very forgiving (or they just don’t care). Now granted, you can’t pay attention to the internet as a whole, but like @jinni wrote below his nickname is everwet according to the Urban Dictionary website the example they give is his name. Often wandered, if your GF were to describe a guy (just like Fassbender with all the stuff that is out there about him), would you recommend your GF to date the guy?

  6. TheOtherMaria says:

Well, she’s certainly getting lots of publicity, but she is one of Harvey’s girls….

Who knows, this could be the one for Fass 😏, if not he’s playing the PR thing too which make me 😒 him; the only thing I know is those pictures of Marion and Michael had tons more chemistry than these do, I hope Marion stays for AC.

    • Abbott says:

She’s one of Harvey’s girls? That says pretty much all I need to know about her.

      • NUTBALLS says:

Yep. Bendy’s was so fun to watch last year. Can’t wait to see what Harv pulls with these two.

      • Lola says:

Ok, I’m not messing, but could you explain because I don’t understand what that means?
IRL people are your mentors, they back you up, in your personal life or in your career so, what I’m I missing?

      • Abbott says:

Lola, everything Norman Bates’ Mother said. If you Google ‘Harvey’s Girls’ pajiba has an interesting article on which actresses it hasn’t worked out too well for. The article is 5 years old so it makes no mention of the actresses he’s ‘mentored’ in recent years.

      • Lola says:

@Norman Bates Mother and @Abbott: Thank you for replying. Had no clue. If that is what happens to the women, what of the men? Doesn’t he back up men too?
I know this is pure speculation, but this is growing sadder by the minute (at least in my head), can it be possible that is was Fassbender the one that introduced Alicia to the H.W. girl club? From what I have read she has acted in films prior to meeting him. IF the case, why do that?…

      • julia says:

@Lola I don’t remember Fassbender having any link with TWC aside from Macbeth.Weinstein bought the US distribution rights but it doesn’t even have a release date.

      • Lola says:

@julia: I want to be on the same page as you, so I googled TWC and the Time Warner Company came up… Then I thought, no … so went back, seeing that the convos talk about Harvey W. tried it again and I think you are referring to The Weinstein Company, correct?
Ok, so about when I started to read fully and post (about a year ago) I was curious to find out who the blond lady was that was in a lot of pictures of Fassbender. From what I was told, Paula Woods is his PR person. When I googled her, I found an email address of hers at the TWC web page (I think it was ….this was over a year ago)… So, that’s as much as I can think of. I am a natural curios person of how things work, not knowledgeable about the film industry, that is why I ask questions… so, maybe someone else can give you more info or the details that you are looking for, sorry.

      • julia says:

Yes,it’s The Weinstein Company. ☺ I meant a personal working relationship.Paula Woods is an important publicist. I think she has worked with every production/distribution company and she works with many directors and actors.

      • Blossom says:

Saw her in A Royal Affair and thought her and Mikelson looked ridiculous togther but don’t really remember anything about her except her nose, which I tecall thinking must have been nroken at one point. I just know her pictures popped up REPEATEDLY for four solid days on my Pinterest feed until I snapped at them to stop cluttering up my feed with her propaganda. And they actually DID cut it out(!). I don’t follow this guy but I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen him with a white girl (am I wrong?). That, coupled with Harvey Weinstein’s apparent involvement whispers “arrangement” to me.

    • NUTBALLS says:

Isn’t Fassy famous for not campaigning for 12 Years a Slave? I’m wondering just how much he’ll be willing to do for Harv.

      • Lola says:

By far there are people here that know more about him that I do. I just started to read about him after Kaiser’s “divorcing” him (I think that is what she wrote) because he was with Gerard B. ex … and I found the comment funny! From what I gathered he did campaign for Shame and when it did not come out as expected then he said he was not campaigning for anything else. But for some reason, I don’t buy what he says. During that time, I found an article in Spanish that was a translation from German of an interview someone did to his dad, and the dad was very clear in stating (at least according to the translation) that his son wanted to be in big budget films not only Indie films. So, not campaigning? something tells me you can get around that.

    • julia says:

Harvey’s girl bc Tulip Fever with Cara Delavingne? LOL Vikander has much better movies,NOT produced/distributed by Weinstein. The ignorance and misogynism here is strong.

  7. jinni says:

I see you, Alicia. Trying to make sure you are on set of his next movie so he won’t have a new female co-star to become enamored with and eventually hook up with. Girl, his nickname is Everwet for a reason.

  8. Chinoiserie says:

What Marion Cotillard might not star in Assasin’s Creed? I am really dissapointed if she does not.

    • Mel M says:

As a huge fan of the entire AC series I just don’t even want to see an AC movie made. How many video game based movies have been good? Really? The only reason I enjoyed Hitman was, well um, Timothy Olyphant. I guess if Fassy does it for you then it may be a movie for you.

    • JENNA says:

I read an early draft and there’s more than one female part.

  9. Betti says:

I haven’t seen her in anything yet so can’t comment on her acting ability – but she does seem rather desperately thirsty for fame and she does come across in her interviews as pretentious and stuck up.

As for the comment about her being Harvey’s latest ‘it’ girl – we all know what he’s like so am sure she’s paying for his ‘backing’.

As for AC – please keep Marion in it!!!!

  10. Claire says:

I think Alicia will not replace Marion in AC. They probably play different roles. Marion is a box office draw while Alicia is still unknown.

And why are not discussing her fug grey dress? What is it made of? AFWUL!

    • GlimmerBunny says:

I was just gonna comment on how much I love that dress! It looks so soft and sort of medieval/Lord of the Rings-y. Different strokes.

  11. Div says:

She’s not replacing Marion but playing a supporting role….She’s a fantastic actress, but she’s definitely thirsty and wants mainstream fame. She has a ton of prestige pictures lined up, but few that are going to make her a movie star and not just a critical darling so she’s dropping a film called “The Circle” with Tom Hanks to co-star in two popcorn flicks. Her prerogative, but that seems like a poor choice.

I don’t get the whole “she’s keeping an eye on Fassy thing” though…she has her own career and is on the verge of becoming the next “It” girl. She was in Cannes because she is starring in TWC’s film “Tulip Fever” which is bound to become major Oscar bait. She also is going to be in “The Danish Girl” with Eddie Redmayne, The Light Beyond the Oceans, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. All of that plus the raves from Ex-Machina is why she keeps landing huge jobs, not because she’s Fassy’s gf (even if he is the producer on AC).

    • JENNA says:

      This!

      • Div says:

Yes, I’m not exactly getting why people are snarking all over her. Her biggest crime is being a bit thirsty and confident. Granted, I’m one of the people who prefers confidence to humble bragging/over self-depreciation. I also think it might be a bit of a cultural difference…Scandinavians often tend to be very blunt.

Harvey’s only behind one of her movies that she stars in and I think she has a bit part in another Harvey movie, but she was getting buzz and landing Oscar baity roles without him because of A Royal Affair. It’s not like she’s some small time actress or unknown. I feel like people either aren’t aware or are purposefully overlooking all the great reviews she’s received (and I think she snagged some awards for A Royal Affair, too). She’s not becoming an It girl because of Harvey, she’s becoming an It girl because she’s a critical darling with good looks, a famous bf, awards baity movies, and a big fashion contract.

    • LL says:

Thank you so much for your comment, I agree.

Some of the comments reek of sexism is disgusting. I see some of those posters from IMDb and Justjared have made their way over here and spew garbage about like ‘Harvey’s’ girl.

      • Kiki says:

You all are just foolish to realize this. There is nothing wrong with confidence but own up to it. She’s with this oh so shy and oh so private persona projects to people what type of person you are. She ain’t swee and yes I saw some of her acting and she is nowhere near the level of Marion Cottiliard acting prevailance. So if she is a critical darling, she doesn’t need HW to promote her or Fassy to be her arm candy. If she is just a great actress then she should use confidence that she is the it girl. She is nothing but a thirsty phoney.

    • I Choose Me says:

I wouldn’t call her a fantastic actress at least until I see her other films but she’s definitely above par per her performance in Ex-Machina. I don’t have a problem with her being ‘thirsty’ or whatever either. If she knows Hollywood then she knows to strike while the iron is hot.

  12. Lea says:

Well ,her boyfriend is the producer. Must be nice to get cast based on your merits.

  13. JENNA says:

Everytime a woman is photographed with Harvey people feel the need to speculate. Alicia has been a critic’s darling for a while, she doesn’t need to f*ck Harvey. She’s having a year a la Chastain.

    • LL says:

Yep. I hate when people always use the the Harvey Weinstein excuse to downgrade a female actress. She’s already on the upwards before she started dating Michael so saying she’s getting these jobs b/c she slept w/ Harvey (or cause she is dating Michael) is misogynistic and sexist imo.

  14. Damn says:

So if she stars in that Bourne movie with Damon we’ll get another Hollywood “age appropriate” romance. Damon is 20 years older than her.

    • Lola says:

Sorry, but Matt Damon is married to a Latina … Alicia will bleed before that happens…. And so will Damon….

      • Damn says:

I meant on screen not in real life. Hollywood keeps casting actresses 20 years younger than the male stars and pairing them together.

      • Lola says:

        @Damn: Ah, gotcha girl!
Don’t know if they will be cast as a “couple,” hope not. I rather see a female character (could be her) kick a$$, as being part of one of the programs the movies talk about. Although, if she already played a robot, wouldn’t it be a bit like type casting? You know, a human being that is designed to be more like a robot type of thing….
I really would like to see Edgar Ramirez in this Borne film (can’t remember — I think he died in the one he was in — what a bad fan I am, can’t remember!?! Could he be revived?? 🙂 That man is gorgeous!

  15. Patty says:

She has an interesting face. Sometimes she looks really pretty, sometimes she looks striking, and sometimes she looks odd. I’m amazed. I do like the white dress she is wearing at the Grand Prix, even though it doesn’t fit right in the chest area.

    • Div says:

Lainey remarked on that a while ago, and I agree. She’s beautiful in an unconventional way, she doesn’t have the typical bland good looks that a lot of starlets have. Striking is a good way to characterize her look.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Sometimes she looks uber young (like in the trailer for the new Terminator movie), and then other times she looks older/different (Man from U.N.C.L.E; A Royal Affair)……

  16. k says:

Love her. She could do so much better than Fassy.

  17. Chantal says:

Her career is going straight up , impressive indeed and rather ……strange too.

  18. Hmmm... says:

I could be wrong but I’m sensing a bit of fan girl jealousy fueling a lot of these comments. Sure we’d all rather be the one shagging the Fassdong instead of just typing on our keyboards about him. It’s natural. But this hatin’ on the gfs of actors we want to shag is a bit embarrassing. Fandoms earn their reputation, and it’s rarely good.

    • LL says:

ia. Some of these comments are so terrible but its always like that when it comes to certain actors partners when people mean girl them.

That’s why I stopped bothering going into the Cumberbatch posts. So much meangirling. It’s like the women here throw their feminist cards out the window when their “man” switches gear to “taken”.

    • petitehirondelle says:

She is young, has given interview saying “i want to be famous”, is pushed in some magazines as the next “it girl”, she seems “cold” (or “too serious”?), dates a famous actor that thousands of girls are crazy about and now will play in his next film…. Fan girls wait less than that to begin to bash an actress.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Yea, I don’t see a problem with Alicia. From what I’ve seen of her, she’s a good actress, and she’s really pretty. I think she’s too young for Fassy, but I like that she’s ambitious. And she’s not giving us this “oh, I’m too private and shy to be famous”, “I used to be bullied in school”, etc…….plus I like ambition/thirst when it’s backed up by talent.

      • Kiki says:

Well I like confidence and yes she is giving the I am so shy persona.I and a Fassy fan but not obsessed with him. And I don’t care who he dates, but I am also a femninist who is empowered to say what the heck I want. I don’t want to bash Alicia and I understand strike it will it is hot in Hollywood but why be so coy Thant to be just confident. What I am really trying to say is be as bold, fierce and confident and get things done by yourself instead of using someone else to get you famous. aand I don’t safe about how blunt and honest Viking people are, it doesn’t give you the right to be arrogant and smug.

  19. Anna B says:

Vikander is ambitious: she’s spoken in interviews about how she admires both J-Law’s talent and her career choices, and has made it clear she wants that same combination of good reviews and star-making blockbusters. Fair play to her, I say – she has the acting chops, and no one would give out about a man having the same level of ambition.

  20. Harvey's Girl says:

The perks of being one of Harvey’s girls extend beyond roles in his films and Marchesa dresses. That’s mainly from the Miramax days, and mainly for the ones who can’t actually act. But if you can act, with weinstein in your corner you’ll get first look opportunities and everyone will at least see you and probably cast you – Harv’s a big guy and who wants a broken arm? Plus you’ll get press and big magazine covers (like W, even if no one knows who you are) or opportunities for contracts with fashion houses (like Louis Vuitton, even if no one knows who you are).

It’s a faster path to the top, clear of many of the dumb obstacles those lesser non-it girls have to clear. Perfect for the girl who’s been grinding away for awhile and is ready already to be a bit more known.

    • Lola says:

Thank you for the comment … at first I thought it had only to do with the 1946’s film, he, he … I did not get it… now with the reply’s I am learning what “it” means … sounds a lot like politics, and in the end … I don’t know … maybe one should think who one owes favors to…but, to each their own.

    • julia says:

Harvey’s girl … why, exactly? For a movie with Cara Delavingne, her only movie with any type of link to TWC,when her other movies are way more prestigious?!People trashing a talented actress without knowing nothing about her career and movies lined-up. Sad. Things for women will never change.Sad.

      • Lola says:

@julia: The person that posted under “Harvey’s girl” wrote about a generalization. In general terms. She or He did not mention anything specific about Alicia V., I don’t think nor trashed her.
I know the written language (text, email, post) is treaky to write and to read, one tends to put one’s emotions or day behind the way the post is read. (Happens to everyone) but I did not feel her or his post was an insult towards Alicia V.

      • Harvey's Girl says:

I was just pointing out that there are other benefits to being one of Harvey’s girls than being in his movies or trying for an oscar. The kind of benefits that could really help fast track someone who’s ready to be a bit more known. Though he’s a thug and a pig, it’s undeniable that Harvey Weinstein is immensely powerful in the the entertainment industry, and many people fear him. Fortunately, that may be changing as there are women (well, at least one) willing to report him to the police for his unwanted advances.

People making comments here have no bearing on whether the rampant sexism and misogyny in Hollywood will change. Hollywood itself would need to change for that, and that would have to include women not accepting repugnant crap from people like Weinstein in order to “be more known.” I’m not saying that is what Alicia Vikander has or hasn’t done because I don’t know, but it does happen. If you want to believe your favorite – whoever that may be – would never, that’s fine. We all need fairytales to believe in.

      • julia says:

@Harvey’s Girl Your comment is full of good points.I don’t doubt he’s a pig,I don’t doubt it happens and I don’t doubt that there are other benefits. But there should be at least some evidence about these benefits before implying that an actress with an actual impressive resume, even with an oscar-nominated movie on her shoulders,is an “Harvey’s girl”. Giving a quick look at her IMDb page, her filmography says that she has one movie backed by TWC,but at least other two movies are way more promising for her career and probably they will be in contention against other TWC’s movies, speaking about awards. It’s a contradiction in itself. If she’s ready to be more know it’s because she has seven movies coming out this year, possibly with one,two oscar-baity roles. Is that a reason to give her a mag cover or a fashion contract?

      • Harvey's Girl says:

One doesn’t have to be in weinstein’s movies to be one of his girls, that was my point. What is curious is how he presented her at his annual Cannes preview as the next It girl. Last year he brought up Naomi Watts and Ryan Reynolds. The year before it was Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara. This year it’s Jake Gyllenhaal and… Alicia Vikander? Someone whose only noteworthy films that have actually been released number just three, one of which was a small part, one of which isn’t even in English, and one of which was released just weeks ago? Mmkay. Like Lainey said, one of these things is not like the others. That seems to happen a lot with Vikander. I guess she’s just that exceptional.

But, when you also consider how she’s “ready to be a bit more known,” and the massive PR push for her and the Louis Vuitton brand ambassadorship and the W cover all when she is essentially still a nobody (one small movie does not equal big magazine cover + fashion contract – if it was press for UNCLE, ok. but ex machina? and I won’t go into the list of W cover models who are actors. OOTTINLTO), plus there’s that weirdly random comment from the NY Times about her being positioned as “the thinking man’s Blake Lively” – who seems nothing like Vikander, but has been the most rumored of being one of Harvey’s girls… taken together, all of that is enough to make me seriously wonder. You can disagree, that’s fine. We all have our sacred cows.

    • julia says:

Sacred cows? No. I prefer to make judgements based on facts.Weinstein invites people who are already in Cannes.Sienna Miller ,Gyllenhaal,Vikander were already in Cannes for their own business,as far as I know. Since she’s in a TWC’s movie,I don’t find any reason to consider her presence at his annual Cannes preview strange. It’s not Weinstein who introduced her as the next “it-girl”. Journalists have been referring to her as the next “It girl” for months. She seems to be in just about every film in release this year. If someone has seven movies lined-up backed by Sony,TCF,TWC,Focus and WB,with some prestige pictures among them,I don’t get suspicious if someone gives her a cover and a fashion contract. This girl has also a strong PR team behind her.I’ve read her NYT profile and I’ve read that comment differently. “Whether the MoMA show, “This Is for Everyone,” was in fact her choice or that of her ever-present handlers, who seemed intent on positioning Ms. Vikander as a thinking-man’s Blake Lively, it brought out a ruminative streak.” Lively was meant to be “the next It girl” years ago,she has a smug image,a smug lifestyle website. Vikander can act and she wants to be profiled while visiting an exhibition of experimental design at the Museum of Modern Art. I see the “Thinking-man’s Blake Lively” comment as a shade at her alleged smugness. You’re free to disagree,of course.

  21. Wheeze says:

If they’re an actor, they’re thirsty, so that’s a given. But apparently being Swedish makes you just very straightforward about that. I think she’s a better actor than many out there and I don’t think she’s as pap hungry as someone like Amal Clooney who isn’t even in the ent industry – though obviously she’d like to be. So I have no problems with Alicia at all. I’m looking forward to Ex Machina, which has the amazing Oscar Issac – yay!

  22. Abigail says:

She’s a terrific actor. So is Fassbender. They’re an attractive couple. These supposedly “in-the-know” comments about “Harvey’s girls,” “everwet,” etc, are malicious and irrelevant.

  23. mia says:

I’ve just seen her in Ex Machina two days ago. Fantastic movie and fantastic actress.Oscar Isaac was also great. I was looking among the thousand of pics on tumblr and how nice is this man with fans? I’ve never seen actors who let fans hug and kiss them.

  24. Tonya says:

Well look at the white night he made sure he kept his black girlfriends hidden I hope these black actress who are few know to stay away from him because when he was with Nicole he did’t take her anywhere no red carpet or anything like that now even though she’s getting roles he’s going to add her to his film wow! He looks like he doesn’t bath I don’t care about either of them but just noticed this about him and no his girlfriends don’t have to be black he seems to date anything that moves!

    • julia says:

This is not true.I remember many photos with Nicole Beharie. In particular at the Venice festival years ago.

    • Evasmom says:

Lainey seemed to allude to this as well. If true, he as a jerk in my opinion.

    • Kiki says:

If you ask me, Nicole Beharie is doing great work as an actress on tv. And also, Michal Fassbender and Nicole Beharie were really the cutest couple and the best looking couple, it a shame they broke up. I am not saying that he can date other people, but look at this picture. I am not Bashing Alicia Vikander, but she will be famous but I think she is going about it the wrong way. She has little supporting roles that are not challenging enough for he acting career. She need to stop being so dam desperate amd be a great actress. And yes she is pretty. Anyway, i don’t want to break the hard truth. But I don’t seen her and michael a lasting relationship for 2 yrs. So Alicia, if had a head, you should learn to hustle instead of being hustled. And as for Michael Fassbender, he is just having a blast and doesn’t care.

    • Abigail says:

Nicole Beharie was very prominently with him at the Venice Festival, and he talked about her in a GQ interview, I believe, and elsewhere. He did not keep her hidden.

  25. sauvage says:

Their pairing as a screen couple reminds me of the Maggie Gyllenhall casting situation and her being told that at 37 she was to old to play the love interest of a 55-year old man.

Alicia Vikander is a very young-looking 26-year old. I would have believed it if somebody told me she was 21. Fassy on the other hand does not look one day younger than his actual age, which is 38. And yet they were casted as a couple? Yikes.

    • Anon says:

He is supposed to be older than her in the movie. I’ve read the book so believe me, casting them as a pair is ok
