Josh Duggar is moving his family out of Maryland, probably back to Arkansas

josh2

Of all the Duggar offspring, I think Josh Duggar was the only one “allowed” to move far away from the family. As the kids start to grow up and get married, the rest of them will be sticking closer to their family home in Arkansas. Jill and Jessa both moved out when they married their husbands, but it’s my understanding that both daughters are still pretty near to Jim-Bob and Michelle. So… was there a reason why Jim-Bob and Michelle were so eager to get Josh as far away as possible? My theory is that he was shoved out of the house ASAP because of the Duggars’ involvement in the Arkansas DHS investigation – everything would have gone a lot smoother if Josh just moved out of the house, right?

So, Josh moved out, married Anna and they brought their growing family to a home in Maryland, where Josh commuted to work at the Family Research Council. His work with the FRC was all “social issue” based – no gay marriage, no reproductive choice for women, no LGBTQ issues because, obviously, gay and transgender people are the REAL threat to children, not Josh Duggar. Well, when the Duggar sh-t hit the fan, Josh had to resign his position at the FRC. And now it seems that Josh and his family are putting their Maryland house on the market – TMZ and Us Weekly note that there were moving trucks outside of the Maryland home. TMZ says that Anna and Josh bought a home in Arkansas earlier this year, and sources believe that they will be moving back to Arkansas full-time now.

What else is going on? Well, in the Duggars’ Fox News interview, Jim-Bob and Michelle brought up the idea of a lesbian agenda” to bring them down, starting with the “illegal release” of public records pertaining to In Touch Weekly’s FOIA request, which (according to the Duggars) was all part of some kind of bribe to the Springdale police chief, Kathy O’Kelley. As we keep saying, there was nothing illegal about any of it, and the police departments were actually required by law to turn over their records to meet the FOIA request. So the current mayor of Springfield, Ark, has some stuff to say. Mayor Doug Sprouse issued a very interesting statement, per In Touch:

The City will not dignify suggestions of misconduct in this matter by Chief O’Kelley with any comment beyond labeling them as outrageous and categorically false. Chief O’Kelley is a dedicated public servant whose career in law enforcement has been committed to duty and the adherence to the law.

With respect to the release of records pursuant to requirements of the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the facts are these:

The City complied with each and every requirement of the FOIA with respect to the request for records.

Upon notification of the request for information pursuant to the FOIA request, the Chief of Police referred the matter to the Springdale City Attorney for an opinion as to whether the requested records were subject to public disclosure under the FOIA. As part of due diligence and in order to thoroughly analyze the request, the City also contacted the Arkansas Municipal League, the Arkansas State Police, the Washington County Juvenile Prosecuting Attorney within the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and made unsuccessful attempts to contact appropriate officials within the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Out of courtesy with respect to the release of information in potentially sensitive situations, the Police Chief directed the family be notified of the FOIA request. The Police Chief further directed that the family be kept regularly informed as to the status of the request; the City’s analysis of the request and any action the City would take with respect to the request, including notification to the family that the City had an obligation under the FOIA law to release the redacted report.

Subsequently and consistent with and pursuant to advice of legal counsel, the City Attorney determined that the record – after thorough redaction — was subject to release under the FOIA.

Prior to release, the record went through several rounds of review that included redaction of the names of minors and all potentially identifying pronouns.

The Springdale Police Department files in this case are not part of juvenile proceedings, had not been sealed or expunged, and at the time the report was filed the person listed in the report was an adult, not a juvenile.

In 2014, the Chief indicated to the Mayor her intent to retire in 2015. In a letter to the Mayor on May 6, 2015, she formally notified the Mayor that she would be retiring as Chief of Police on June 30, 2015. With respect to the Police Chief’s reference to “unfinished business” cited in her retirement letter, those issues relate to issues of Departmental structure, organization and leadership succession planning and were not in reference to any case specific, including this one. Any suggestion or assertion otherwise is patently false.”

[From In Touch Weekly]

The accusations the mayor is responding to are insider-y, but if you’ve been following the stories or if you’ve watched the Duggars’ interviews, you know how harsh this statement is. This is the mayor of Springfield calling the Duggars liars. This is the mayor of Springfield telling the world that public officials followed the law and that the Duggars are still, to this day, lying their asses off.

  1. Lilacflowers says:

Interesting that they alerted the family of the FOIA request, they are under no obligation to do so and it just proves that the Duggars’s claims that this was a leak, done without their knowledge, to be more outright lies.

  2. Birdie says:

Ugh, his face makes me cringe.

    • Froggy says:

His creepiness factor is off the charts. He makes my skin crawl.

    • Shambles says:

And his wife looks… Not right in the eyes. If I didn’t know that she married this man with full knowledge of the fact that he’s a child molester, I would feel sorry for her. Does anyone know if she grew up in the cult? I would have a little bit more sympathy for her if I knew she’d been brainwashed starting in utero like Jessa and Jill.

      • zimmer says:

Yep. She grew up in it.

      • Shambles says:

Ah, so she has been brainwashed. That explains the “help me I’m dying inside” look in her eyes. Sad all around.

      • Delta Juliet says:

I’m not sure I believe that she knew that. I know that’s the story that’s being told but I’m not convinced it’s true.

      • Boston Green Eyes says:

No woman in this cult is right in the eyes or right in the head – imagine all the craziness it takes to keep your true self hidden (whatever that may be) and to know without a shadow of a doubt that you are and always will be a third-class citizen (dogs are probably better regarded in this cult).

      • Shambles says:

Boston Green, I spent a lot of the past few weeks trying to imagine what it must be like to be a woman in this cult. It was too hard to stomach, so now I just empathize from a distance. It must be a horrible life to live.

      • Wren says:

Boston, considering how these people have treated animals (on camera!!!) I highly doubt that. 🙁 It’s just all about the males all the time and everything and everyone else (women, animals, outsiders) better bow down.

      • Katey says:

Don’t forget that Anna’s dad works/worked in prisons in Florida on the regular, thumping the bible at inmates. I’d bet that she was a prime candidate to marry their law-breaking son bc her father and family would be sympathetic to the whole “I did wrong, repented, and Jeebus forgave me” schtick.

      • Boston Green Eyes says:

@Wren, yeah, true that (about the awful treatment of animals by the Duggars).

God, I hate these people so much!

      • EricaV says:

I just noticed his wife looks pretty much exactly like his sisters. THAT is some real creeper ish…

  3. Tristan says:

Hypocritical, far right, bigoted fanatics like this entire family are the very worst. They are truly puke inducing. How an incestuous paedophile has the gall to work in an institution like the FRC speaks volumes about him, his awful family & the FRC. People like the ghastly Duggars hijack religion to dissemintate their ignorance, stupidity & hate. If they actually bothered to read through the Christian Testament, they would see that Christ preached tolerance & acceptance of others, rather than the vile hate that they believe in. They are about as much “real” Christians as the monsters of ISIS or Boko Haram are “real” muslims

    • doofus says:

      *clapping*

(PS – “puke inducing” is spot on.)

    • WinterLady says:

Your whole post is on. POINT. The Duggars are the worst kind of hypocrites.

    • lucy2 says:

      Excellent post.
The abuse makes me sad and sick, but the hypocrisy, and then inaction of the parents when they found out, makes me angry.

    • L says:

TRUE! Jesus also preached obeying the law- you don’t get special treatment for being a Christian if you’ve committed crimes, and you absolutely don’t get to do whatever you want and claim “it’s fine because God will/has forgiven me”!!!! Only a hypocrite would act the way that they have!

      • whipmyhair says:

Philemon was a slave who ran away from his master, and later became a Christian. The apostle Paul told him to go back home and ask for forgiveness and face the music. Serve your master with a loving heart.

Now if only the duggars had read that part.

    • Wren says:

Yup. I’m not a Christian, but I have a feeling that this NOT AT ALL what Jesus intended and how God wishes us to treat each other.

  4. Dani O says:

Good riddance. The family (Jim Bob, Michelle, Josh) are hypocritical, bigoted trash and non of these recent findings are shocking. I knew they were shady from the start and believe more stuff will come out.

  5. Jayna says:

I can’t stand them, but to be fair, Michelle never said “lesbian” agenda. It was clear as day in the audio she said, “must be an agenda.” Everyone heard it too and remarked in posted comments, but media like Daily Mail didn’t correct it in their article and elsewhere.

    • Sayrah says:

Right, she said “must be an agenda.” There are plenty of reasons to be disgusted by the Duggars. Don’t give them fodder to claim the leftist media is lying for sensationalism.

      • Jayna says:

It absolutely gives them ammunition to claim the leftist media has their own agenda against them and it’s lazy on media sites to keep repeating a blatant lie that she said it when she didn’t and it’s a complete fabrication.

      • Cannibell says:

Thank you both for clarifying this. CB is the only place I’m really following this story (and the only reason I really know much about the family), and the intelligent discussion and respect for the facts is as much a reason as any of the others.

    • Dibba says:

I didn’t think she said it either

    • Shambles says:

I think Kaiser intentionally struck through the word “lesbian” to make it clear that it was a joke. When the interview first aired, there were a lot of commenters here joking around about how it sounded like Michelle said “lesbian agenda,” but most acknowledged the fact that she really said “‘must be an agenda.” I think it’s just some mild humor to try and lighten the mood that surrounds this heavy, nasty situation.

    • whipmyhair says:

I’m doubling down on the “lesbian agdenda”.

Mainly because the concept is hilarious.

      • Wren says:

This. It’s far more funny that way. Really highlights just how stupid all of this is.

      • LAK says:

It’s easy to think she said ‘lesbian agenda’ because the outgoing police chief IS a lesbian.

And we know how Michelle *cough jim bob cough* thinks….

      • littlestar says:

I think it’s funny too. Damn those lesbians and their agendas!

      • Gigi says:

Having worked at a very lefty institution I can attest that Lesbians make the best agendas. Those action items are no joke. Those ladies get shit done.

  6. Ally8 says:

No Arkansas jokes, please, no matter how tempting/fitting. This guy is a creepy mofo whatever state he’s in and I hope the AR dept. of child services greets him with a housewarming gift in the form of a regular home visit schedule.

    • mimif says:

The only joke I was going to make is that Arkansas should run em all out and bar the doors.

    • GingerCrunch says:

That is a somewhat comforting thought. Not that he can really hide anymore. And depending what’s still going on over there, hopefully they’ll keep a close eye on the whole situation.

  7. NewWester says:

It is rather creepy how Josh is looking more and more like Jim Bob. Plus Anna is starting to have the same look in her eyes as her mother in law, Michelle. For a moment I thought that second photo was of Jim Bob and Michelle twenty years ago.
I also love how In Touch seems to be declaring all out war on the Duggars. That magazine is leaving the other tabloids in the dust with their exclusives on the Duggar scandal.

    • doofus says:

I always thought that his wife strongly resembles a couple of his sisters, which is F*CKING creepy.

      • Dirty Tot says:

OMG, yes! When I saw that picture, I totally thought it was one of his sisters. So creepy.

      • whipmyhair says:

She used to do the duggar half-up perm. Back when they first got married.

Those duggars sure have a type.

      • EricaV says:

I noticed that for the first time today. SO creepy!

    • Gabrielle says:

All the women in this cult dress and style their hair the same. That’s the reason.

  8. Giddy says:

I am very pleased that the mayor issued such a strong statement. The Duggar’s claims of an agenda are completely false, although I assume they will continue to blame the godless liberals and anyone else they can think of. Really, although they claim to be such Christians, they are quite hateful.

  9. kcarp says:

When they got married they lived in Arkansas. They were given a tiny house that needed fixing up. When Jill was given a place to live, him and Anna went to see it and they made some snide comments about them getting a little house and Jill getting this big house.

How embarrassing that I use to watch these people during the day? I work from home daytime TV sucks. I need something to watch.

    • Jayna says:

She probably got a bigger house because she and Jessa and Joy-Anna and Jana wrote (with a ghostwriter) a best-selling book about themselves. Daddy Duggar probably pockets the money himself, not wanting to give the girls the proceeds from THEIR book. But I guess the deal is he will build them each a nice home maybe?

      • Lucky Charm says:

When Jessa got married, she and Ben were given the same little house Josh and Anna lived in before they moved to D.C. Jill got the house JB bought and was just “letting them live there until he sold it”. Ha, as if he would spend the time and money fixing it up to sell and then let them cover all the walls with hundreds of nail holes, etc.

    • Esmom says:

I work from home most days too and I’ve found the best thing is to keep the TV off. 🙂

      • jwoolman says:

No, just record stuff and put that on while you work. Then you can turn it off any time and start it up again later, rather than feeling compelled to see a show through to the end. If you prefer cartoons like me, daytime tv is fine as background. Talk shows make me gag. News shows are too depressing. I just have low tolerance for other humans in general with a few exceptions. I record shows I really want to watch (not just have in the background) for eating breaks.

    • Wren says:

I wonder if that was another form of punishment? Not a very effective one, mind you, but another way to keep him busy and not around so much. Since the girls ostensibly towed the line they were “rewarded”.

  10. Dibba says:

So pathetic “Mother Duggar” Josh had to give up his job spewing hatred and bigotry?

  11. sara says:

Where the hell is CPS in this? Why are they not investigating to see if Anna/Josh’s children are being abused? I am more worried if Duggar is abusing his children than them moving back to AR. Is Anna that brainwashed that she thinks this could not happen? Does Anna have that thought at least? I hope in 12 years their children do not come forward with horrible abuse claims that were ignored like the ones in the parent Duggar home.
This whole case makes me cringe because it is so public and still nothing is being done.

    • WR says:

Does CPS have the right to investigate the family when there hasn’t been a conviction? He did admit to molestation in the past but is that grounds to check on the well being of his own kids? I feel like they need to be investigated. I’d love to know how this works from a legal perspective because I haven’t seen it addressed yet.

      • sara says:

I would also love to know too on a legal level. There has got to be a loophole somewhere that would give the law a right to investigate. There seems to be a thought process of hiding abuse, so I would hope that someone would get involved because of that.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Going back to my days as a mandatory reporter, CPS needs an actual complaint from either a victim or a direct witness to abuse to go forward. It’s the first thing they ask about. There may be ways around this, but I am doubtful. He was not convicted and is not a registered sex offender with restrictions, though he should be.

What I would like to know is why nobody is investigating the admission that they padlock their children in their rooms at night. That is an immediate danger.

    • noway says:

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I live in Maryland and as far as the law goes unless someone reports suspected abuse to social services there is little they can do. Even if it is reported, let’s say someone just calls up about suspected abuse, social services would make a call and inspect the home, but if there was no child complaint or physical abuse there is not much they can do. Now this might be why they are moving they are afraid that generally liberally minded Maryland might make their life a little harder with people calling in suspected abuse. They happen to live in a county very close to DC that has a fair amount of social service issues too, so trust me when I say social services in PG county is backed up with work too.

Also, the other problem would be even if he was convicted and put on the sex offender list, based on the offenses described in the piece I read it would be a minor sexual offense 3rd or 4th degree, and by now he would be removed from the list any way. Plus there are different rules for your own kids. I found this out when a former registered sex offender tried to work with their child at a school. We were able through a background check to discover this, but they were allowed to do certain things with their child, just not around others.

  12. embertine says:

Poor Arkansas. Is it too late to run an electric fence down that eastern border?

    • Giddy says:

I agree about Arkansas. And in D.C. the neighbors were probably in the street singing “Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye”!

  13. Kattttt says:

Surely, the Police Chief must have grounds with which to sue these people into the ground for slander?!?

    • Izzy says:

If she wanted to open it up to that, sure she could. I’m guessing she has a solid case, too. But in her shoes, about to retire, and with her boss the mayor coming down so strongly on her side on the record, I wouldn’t waste my time and energy unless the Duggars kept making those claims. I might send a lawyer letter for cease and desist, reminding them of what will happen if they continue to slander, but that’s just me, and I’m probably not as nice as Chief O’Kelley. 🙂

  14. Neelyo says:

A friend has been following the Duggar scandal on INSIDE EDITION. They showed the Arkansas property and apparently it’s a dump. It was probably bought to maintain residency in hopes of a future political career. Ahh, the shattered dreams of a hypocritical pervert.

  15. Kym says:

I’m sure Maryland is just CRUSHED about this

    • smcollins says:

We are. We really, really are.

I had no idea he lived here until this post. Adios!

      • whipmyhair says:

Make sure the door hits them on the butt on the way out.

      • doofus says:

whipmyhair…I always said that as “(don’t let) the door hit ya where the good lord split ya”….

but in their case, I’d like the door to do just that.

      • Evelyn says:

So sad this morning to find out they were leaving, I thought maybe one day we’d be entirely populated by Duggars.

    • Danskins says:

As a fellow Marylander, I must say I’m pretty crushed by Josh’s exit…not.
      😛

  16. Talie says:

Anna’s family must have regrets about arranging this marriage now that he won’t be a wealthy lobbyist/politician/whatever his ultimate goal was.

    • Kitten says:

I would think that they probably regret the fact that they arranged to have their daughter marry a child molester more than all that other stuff.

      • Red32 says:

Nope. Sadly, when it all hit the fan and they made their official statements, Anna released a statement that said she and her parents all knew about his “teenage mistakes” and believed he was forgiven. Those idiots sold their daughter to this monster because his daddy was the cult bigshot. Wonder how that’s working for them now.

I bet 99% of the Quiverfulls are just as bad as JimBob and Michelle, they’re just the most visible.

      • sara says:

Considering Anna’s one sister Esther is living in Africa with 8 kids and is married to an abuser, I highly doubt their father cares one bit. This is also the sister who lived in a pop-up trailer with 6 kids and no running water etc in their parents backyard. Anna’s other sister is also married to an alleged abuser. Go to FreeJinger.com and you will see a lengthy trail of abuse from people in the Quiverfull community. Their father saw dollar sign$ when he set this marriage up

  17. Kiddo says:

If that is his wife, she really resembles the family and more specifically Josh.

  18. FLORC says:

    Good. This is good.
The Duggars have gone on record in a Very public way making claims that reflect incorrectly on the facts. They’ve indirectly called out people correctly doing their jobs and following the system. And great those people are speaking up and calling them out on their lies.

It’s another step towards the end of of this terrible group. And the longer TLC keeps their wagon hitched to this falling star the better.
And I can’t even believe TLC is still backing these monsters. People will rightly lose their jobs over this.

    • Hazel says:

Completely agree. The statement by the mayor was spot on. They might have been able to sideline InTouch because of the type of publication it is, but the mayor’s statement is impeccable.

  19. Citresse says:

Watch his world fall like a house of cards. There are certain individuals everywhere who will take the law into their own hands.

    • Kiddo says:

That is not a good thing, ‘taking the law into their own hands’.

      • Citresse says:

        Kiddo
Yes, that’s correct, it’s not a good thing.
Josh Duggar can’t remain secluded and protected on his father’s property forever.
There are individuals concerned for their own children who will want to be aware of his location.

  20. JenB says:

I feel sorry for Anna to an extent. I wonder if she was not told the whole/accurate truth ahead of time. Not that she had a chance of any kind of real life anyway. And she has to sleep with him. Ew. I hope she watches him closely with those kids.

Sooo….still no cancellation of the show. They thinking this will all blow over and then they will be able to continue to profit off this ish?

  21. Marg says:

How much you guys wanna bet Republicans start trying to overturn FOIA laws after this?

    • holly hobby says:

Wouldn’t be surprised but I’m sure someone can sue the law and have it go all the way up to the Supremes.

  22. minx says:

I’m convinced the Duggars sent this little pusher to DC to start up a political career.
    President Duggar!

  23. Green Is Good says:

These twat-waffles are giving Arkansas a bad rep.

  24. Betti says:

Poor baby is running back to Mommy and Daddy to protect him – his life and career are over and so are Daddy Duggar’s political ambitions. Or to have Daddy’s connections cover up more of his ‘teenage behaviour’.

I wouldn’t be surprised that he was sent far away on purpose as part of their ‘safeguards’. They know he will re-offend and probably has.

    Those children are not safe.

    • Betti says:

Also what did Arkansas do to deserve this family?!?!? That poor state has my sympathy.

  25. Dawn says:

I thought Jill announced that she and her husband are making plans to move to Nepal to help the victims of the earthquake and plan on staying there for a very long time. It was reported that Jim Bob was NOT happy with their plans. I really hate TLC except for the Stacy London show.

    • holly hobby says:

If that’s true good for them. I think Jim Boob isn’t happy because that means he can’t control them. I hope they do relocate and escape.

  26. Smd says:

I only watched the show a few times but what bothered me immediately was the “lack” of parenting. The older kids watch the younger children and then those children were watching younger and smaller children. It was ridiculous watching a 7 year old caring for a 6 year old who was subsequently watching a 5 year old and so forth. It rarely seemed like either parent ever directly interacted with the kids. They got group instructions.

  27. Vampi says:

    I don’t care how bad this sounds…
I want to kick him in his smiling, douche, pedo face. Every. Time. I. See. Him.

  28. Miran says:

So not only was the information legally acquired, they knew it was coming out.

  29. iheartgossip says:

    Bye, Felicia

  30. frank says:
