Caitlyn Jenner attended an event in NYC on Sunday, the same day as the NYC Pride Parade. From the brief video (below) and description, it sounds like a blast. She was there as part of a likely sponsored appearance and attended an event for Voss, held at “Dream Downtown Hotel’s PH-D lounge.” According to People Magazine, Caitlyn was there with six friends and the visit was filmed for her reality show, I Am Cait. US Magazine has some more details, and it sounds like she had a great time:

“Caitlyn was blushing and waving,” the source tells Us Weekly. “She looked very touched. Caitlyn was laughing and chatting with everyone.”

Actress Candis Cayne, who also attended the event, dedicated the song “I Am a Woman” to Jenner as the crowd cheered. Later the reality star made it rain cash all over Cayne as the party guests danced on the tables.

“Caitlyn was dancing with her friends and even flipping her hair,” another onlooker dished to Us.

The event was hosted by Steele Luxury Travel in collaboration with Jared Needle and Voss Productions, who shared snaps of Jenner via Instagram. Steele Luxury Travel’s Instagram page captured Jenner’s rousing entrance in a video.

This looks fun and it’s a rare glimpse into Caitlyn’s personal life. She’s been so exacting about her image post-transition and this just builds anticipation for her reality show. I really want to watch I Am Cait, if only to see how Caitlyn’s life is portrayed. Will it be a docuseries as we’ve heard or will they work in some fake drama as is typical of any E! show? A new promo has been released (video is on E!) and it has a kind of somber yet triumphant feel to it. Caitlyn says “People don’t understand looking into the mirror and nothing seems right… this is about getting to be who you really are.” The show premieres on July 26. Caitlyn will make her first red carpet event appearance at the ESPYs (where she will receive the Arthur Ashe award) on July 15th. She’s planning this to a T. We’ve barely seen any paparazzi photos of her, and you know she’s a huge target.

Some activists are saying that transgender issues are on the new frontier of the LGBT movement now that same sex marriage has finally been legalized. Caitlyn’s transition and reality show, along with several other shows coming out soon, may help build public awareness and acceptance.

As much as I don’t think she’s an amazing human being I’m happy for her in this moment.

What she always wanted was to live life as a woman and to be able to go out and have that experience must be so fulfilling.

A part of me wonders too if she’ll become even more of an absentee parent. It happens a lot with adults who feel they were ‘denied’ when they were younger and once they’re able to cut loose…tend to forget their responsibility towards their children. I feel like she wants to have that 20 yr old woman life experience.

    • Joy says:

I’m glad someone besides me is aware of her being a bad parent. She’s the classic “I’m bored with this family let me move on to another one” kind of person. And I could care less about oh she was struggling internally. Welcome to LIFE.

      • joan says:

“Caitlyn” is cut a lot of slack by the media, but “Bruce” doesn’t deserve it, that’s for sure.

HE was a Kardashian-style celebrity, whose values — except for being a great athlete — are not that admirable.

SHE gets to start fresh, but still chooses to talk about her conservative political views, which are Bruce’s too. And SHE still hangs with her shallow, vapid K. family.

A really great role model would be Laverne Cox, not Caitlyn.

    • lisa says:

you could be right, and i was just thinking it is not mathematically possible to be a worse parent

  2. Yeses says:

Please don’t judge me for saying this, but Caitlyn sure loves her some camera time…guess that’s what she took away from her marriage to Kris….”She was even flipping her hair”..oh my gosh, no!! Stop the presses!!

    • boredblond says:

She learned the celeb fame game from the pros.

    • SnarkySnarkers says:

I agree! I also lol’d at ” it’s a rare glimpse into her personal life” Rare? She has been very public since the transition in my opinion. Lets see, she filmed the Diane Sawyer interview, Vanity Fair cover, filmed the “About Bruce” episode on KUWTK, uses social media and posts pics on the regular and is currently filming a reality series. How is this a “rare glimpse”? Caitlyn loves her some camera time.

I’m probably in the minority (and I mean this with no disrespect to her or her journey) but I am verging on having Caitlyn Jenner overload. The very idea of watching a TV show about her is giving me hives. Maybe in another 2 or 3 months I’ll try to catch it in reruns, but for now I’ll stick to reading the occasional post about her.

    • Lama Bean says:

      *joining you in the minority*

    • Robin says:

I’m right there with you . A friend of mine who is dating a trans man goes on and on about Caitlyn and how wonderful she is. But he’s wrong. I’m happy for Caitlyn if she is finally living the way she wants to, but she is still the same person who neglected his children for most of their lives, divorced three wives, and was an active part of one of the most horrific families on the planet. Now she has a huge social platform, and tons of money, and she’s using that to get her own un-reality show that so far seems to be focussed entirely on her “journey”. Enough already.

    • Imqrious2 says:

Any room on that couch? I have margaritas!!

      • TJ says:

I’ve got the limes. Scoot over! I’m a true ally, but enough already. It’s almost taking away from the everyday people who go through this and truly struggle for acceptance.

  4. sensible says:

I know this is not about the big issues, sorry…but anyway I think Caitlyn has had another tweak surgery wise, like half egg size cheek implants? They make her look different, but I think there is not enough flesh on her face to make them look natural, it looks jarring. I do not think she needed them.

    • L&Mmommy says:

I always wonder why people get those cheek implants, they ALWAYS look so unnatural.

    • Olenna says:

I was thinking the same thing. Her profile has changed significantly with the cheek implants.

    • lisa says:

she’s going for the full wildenstein

    • ImFlying says:

That is what I came here to ask. How much plastic surgery? His/her face is soooo different. And, did he/she have the full transgender surgery? Or, is he/she not saying at this time?

      • Ange says:

Just go with ‘she’, it’s who she is now and it’ll save you a lot of typing.

  5. Caitlin Bruce says:

She really does look fantastic. Like wow!! Bruce was kinda tragic looking with all the surgery but the surgery looks amazing on Kaitlynn.

  6. Luca76 says:

About two years ago I saw ‘Bruce’ walking around NYC and I was struck by how awkward and uncomfortable he looked. I’ve never seen any celebrity carry themselves that way (not that I’ve seen that many).
The way Caitlyn just exudes comfort and poise with herself is so striking I’m just so happy for her however orchestrated this whole thing may be.

  7. Jayna says:

When I saw this yesterday, I teared up. To think at 65 years of age, she’s finally living how she dreamed of but never thought it could be a reality. And she has more style than Kris. LOL

  8. Jayna says:

Interesting aside for those interested. When she came out, I remember reading an interesting article by the youth pastor from that church Kris founded. He had moved to another church this year. He talked about how the family used to come to his old church regularly, but then they got really famous and not as much. At first, Kendall had a bible study group at her house for a while during the initial period of fame, but then that went away.

So for years he said he never saw any of them except on like Easter, except Bruce. He said Bruce never missed a Sunday, never missed a sermon all those years. He came there alone and always talked to people. He said that Bruce always came up to him and wanted to know how he was doing, always kind and interested in his life. He said that he had no idea that Bruce was struggling with this, but wished him well in his new life, no judgment from the youth minister, or whatever his new title was at his new church.

Funny how Kris founded that church, recruited the minister, and then lost interest when fame became her new religion.

    • Yeses says:

My husband is a board member in a famous organization in the tool industry and at one of their half yearly meetings last year Bruce Jenner was the speaker, my husband still talks about him and how Bruce was such a genuinely nice person, he didn’t have to but he made time to talk to each member individually. Hubby also goes on about how if you listened to Bruce speak away from all the Krap…he is a really intelligent guy, very motivational…believe he is one of their favorite guest speakers ever and is often invited back.

      • Sarah says:

I’ll second this. Bruce was a speaker several years ago at a 55+ health/fitness event hosted by a hospital where I worked. We routinely had celebrity speakers to our events but the 2 who stand out to this day as the easiest to work with, the kindest, those who went well beyond the requirements of their contract to talk to people, encourage them and then after, spend time with event staff, are Bruce Jenner and Vicki Lawrence (of the Carol Burnett Show). I hope Caitlyn has the same success as a speaker after the novelty wears off.

    • Betteboo2u says:

Not funny how Kris founded a church then left, she would have done it for tax purposes. Or should I say, tax avoidance purposes as I understand religious organisations are tax exempt.

  9. BeckyR says:

OK, I am officially confused. I thought Jenner stated he was not gay when he did the Sawyer interview. So, what is he? I am sincere…please enlighten me. I am 64 years old, fully support gay marriage and feel I have a good knowledge of social issues, but this baffles me, so please help.

    • michkabibbles says:

I honestly find it a little confusing, too. But the Sawyer interview seemed to indicate that she was confused as well. I think remembering that gender and sexuality are two separate things helps, as well as acknowledging that these labels (gay/straight/man/woman) just don’t apply anymore.

    • Jayna says:

She is now part of the LGBT community, Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual.Transgender community. She was there to support her community on such a wonderful day.

I think Bruce in that interview with Diane was stating that he wasn’t a lesbian, because, as a functioning man, he had always been drawn to women his whole life. I think he just got confused on that issue when trying to talk about it because he was still talking about it as Bruce. Bruce in that interview didn’t make the distinction once the transition is complete and now living as a woman, if Caitlyn still dated women, as she expected to, that she would be considered a lesbian. Or, who knows, it could change. I don’t think even Bruce at that time knew nor was concerned with the attraction part of it and what his sexual identity would be labeled once he transitioned to Cait.

What happened to the car accident lawsuits?

  11. db says:

I’m pleased for Caitlyn that she’s finally living her life as she’s wanted to in her soul all her life. Can’t say I buy her as guru material though, and I hope she avoids that trap/temptation, as I don’t feel she has a lot to teach us about family, love, etc except to frame it as “well my failures as a parent were because I was living a lie.” Call me names if you want, but that approach is very limited, and limiting, and it doesn’t inspire me.

  12. Nikki L. says:

People are jumping on the critical train really fast with her. She just came out, let her have her moment for awhile.
