Khloe Kardashian lost weight by ‘cutting out soda completely’: realistic goal?

FFN_Kardashian_Family_FF10FF2_070115_51787998

While I have used the phrase “sad doll” to describe Khloe Kardashian more than once, I have to say that she really does look good. For the most part. Of course I still shake my head at her Pinocchio Butt and of course I think her new lips looks ridiculous. But Khloe has become a total gymrat over the past year and she’s really slimmed down. She looks great. Plastic, but great. So how did Khloe manage to slim down so much? Was it just working out like a fiend? According to a new interview, one of the big changes was that she stopped drinking soda. Nooo! Khloe told an Aussie radio show:

“I think all diets are kind of weird. The word ‘die’ is in it. I believe in lifestyle changes, and when you think of something long term, you do it better. If I know I just have to eat this way for a week, how does that help you for the long term? It doesn’t. I’ve made major cutbacks. I used to love soda. So I’ve cut out soda completely and I’ll drink iced tea or water for what I drink throughout my day. I just made that like a lifestyle change. I’ll do like one thing, like, a month. I’ll just cut something off little by little, and then it just becomes like a part of your life. You don’t even think about it.”

[From People]

I’ve heard so many people talk about soda this and blah blah it’s bad for you. And if you’re talking about regular soda, I’m right there with you. I cannot even drink a non-diet soda at this point. Regular soda tastes ridiculously sweet and gross to me. But I love my diet soda. Full disclosure: I don’t drink coffee. I’ve never been a coffee drinker, and that goes for frappachinos, lattes, whatever. When I need a caffeine boost, I do Diet Pepsi. And I’m not even sorry. I couldn’t drink tea all day either – I feel like drinking that much tea will give you a UTI. TMI? Perhaps. But down here in the South, a lot of people live on iced tea and the UTI thing is a consistent complaint. Now, all that being said, I drink a lot of water too.

She also talks about being trained by celebrity trainer extraordinaire Gunnar Peterson. Peterson trains so many major talents – I know for sure Sofia Vergara uses him and Jennifer Lopez was a client for several years. He has a good reputation, and Khloe says he’s not one of those screamy, passive-aggressive trainers. She says: “He’s not militant. I’m not paying you to yell at me. I want someone who’s motivating and encouraging, like if they are proud of you for even being there that day.” CoughAntiTracyAndersonCough.

How much soda was she drinking to maintain that higher weight? with that level of sugary drinks, what was the state of her teeth?

    • lana86 says:

i heard drinking diet soda or anything with aspartam makes u crave sweets afterwards

      • Lori says:

True. I was a diet soda addict for years. and the sweeteners do make you crave sweetness all the time! Once giving up diet soda and favour of plain old water, I’ve lost 15+ lbs.

      • Wren says:

Yup. Your brain tastes the fake sugar and is like “yay sugar!” but then your intestines are like “lol what sugar?” so your brain freaks out and goes “GIVE ME THAT DAMN SUGAR YOU PROMISED!” Thus, cravings.

      • jojo says:

Yeah, you guys, the diet soda is not a good thing. The drink companies are pulling a fast one on your all at the expense of your health.

        http://time.com/3746047/diet-soda-bad-belly-fat/

I drink tea or coffee in the morning and switch water with a *small splash* of natural juice (lime, cherry, etc) in the afternoon. Go easy on the splash, it does contain sugar and the more you add, the worse it is for you.

      • Sarah says:

        Hi guys

I’m actually a dietitian/nutritionist – I think Khloe’s advice is great. Fad diets are just that – they are fads, designed to make you lose weight quickly as a result of cutting out food groups and limiting what you can actually eat. In terms of soda or soft drink (which is what we call it in Australia), a can of regular coke has approx 9.3tsps of sugar which is terrible for you! The recommended is 4-5tsps/day.

Diet soda is a better option (if you must have soft drink) but lana86 is right – your body, from years of sugar ingestion, is “trained” to know how sugar affects it and it expects a glucose rush from consuming sweet things containing sugar. Diet soda actually “robs” you of this reaction – your body thinks it’s getting a sugar hit when it’s not. Therefore, regardless of you having consumed the diet soda, your body will still crave more foods containing “real” table, white sugar and so if you’re not mindful of that, you can overeat (excess kJ/calories) or overconsume the diet soda or other sugary foods. I’d also be careful of iced tea, as these can contain lots of hidden sugars.

With regards to the UTIs (my undergraduate degree was in science with a major in anatomy) – this is caused by bacteria entering the urethral tract. Unless if iced tea causes a poor micro-organism/biota environment within the v@g, I don’t think it would be the cause of excessive UTIs. This is probably more likely due to poor “down there” hygiene, poor bacterial health in the area or as a result of being sick with things like the flu.

        Hope this helps!

    • lana86 says:

also, that is one ugly bag

    • Kate says:

I used to drink 2 cans of Coke a day, sometimes 3 if it had been a long day and I was sick of coffee. When I cut that out (but changed nothing else) I lost 10lbs within a few weeks, and about 20lbs overall. I also stopped looking so bloated, which was half the battle.

Little changes can make a big difference. My main meals were always fairly healthy and I exercised, but between the soda, some sort of dessert/chocolate bar daily and a junk food/takeaway meal once a week, I was easily consuming 5000 extra calories a week. Cut that kind of thing out and you’ll see results fast. I eventually lost over 50lbs by slowly cutting out soda, then sugary treats, and finally by replacing my weekly takeaway with a home cooked healthier version. No diets, I was still eating lots of carbs and fat and I never turn down a slice of cake, I just stopped with the unnecessary extras.

    • tigerlily says:

Exactly. I think it’s awful that soda has become an everyday beverage. I sound like a cranky old lady but for goodness sake how many cases of soda was she drinking a day? I am fortunate that I enjoy drinking water and growing up soda was not a choice: on Saturday nights-if my barber father had a good week-he’d buy a case of 6 small bottles of coke. For my 3 sisters and myself it was such a treat but would never have thought to drink it through out the day or at meals. I grew up in the 1960’s/1970’s and it was milk or water. Juice was a breakfast thing. As I got older soda was “mix” for hard liquor. I am rambling but honestly still WTF about the amount of soda it would take per day to make a big difference in someone’s weight.

      • LadyMTL says:

Tigerlily, you’d be surprised how much people can drink once they get addicted to it. A woman I used to work with used to drink at least 2L of Pepsi per day (I think that’s roughly half a gallon) and when she stopped, she lost 15 lbs in only a few months. And that was literally the only change she made in her diet.

I’m not that much younger than you and I sort of grew up the same way – soda was a treat, not an everyday beverage – but even I had a mini-addiction a few years back. It’s hard to shake a sugar craving.

      • Sabrine says:

I gave up all sodas, including the diet ones, a few months ago, replacing them with water. Last year I gave up frozen concentrated orange juice in favor of a real orange we share at breakfast. My ‘hooked on diet Coke” husband no longer needs high blood pressure medication. He was getting too much sodium from the diet sodas. I’ve lost a few pounds and hope to see more benefits as time goes on. Next step – low fat milk or black coffee instead of adding cream. Small changes can add up.

      • pf says:

I am with you on being a cranky old lady and wondering why soda has become an everyday beverage. I think it’s gross that people drink that crap, whether it be regular or diet, all day every day instead of water. Were people drinking soda hundreds of years ago? Nope. But I do understand how it can become an addiction and can help you lose weight once you kick it. But Khloe is also failing to acknowledge all the plastic surgery she’s gotten (plus the personal chef and trainer etc). That’s probably helped her lose weight more than the soda addiction.

      • Robin says:

Diet soda has very few milligrams of sodium compared to the RDA. You’ d have to be drinking a heck of a lot of it for it to affect blood pressure.

      • RN says:

Add me to the grumpy old lady club, Tigerlily. I grew up the same way – soda was consumed maybe a few times a year, and only on a special occasion. Fast food was the same. Now I see people eating all day and sucking down on sugary coffees and soda and blaming their genetics for their weight gain/obesity. Genetics didn’t change in one generation but the amount of crap that people consume daily sure did.

      • LAK says:

Yea! I’m not alone. I’m an 80s/90s kid. Even though soda was more widely available, I was brought up like you. Milk or water if you were thirsty. Orange juice for breakfast and soda/fast food was a special treat to be eaten once or twice a year.

The few times I have soda, I feel sugar poisoned so I can’t imagine drinking it all day long.

      • qwerty says:

        @Robin
        Maybe it was the caffeine

    • Debbie says:

She was drinking diet I believe which makes her eat more then drinking regular soda as it doesn’t fill you up. It is also incredibly unhealthy.

    • Christo says:

Ummm, no. I don’t believe her. Losing weight for her entails going a size down on her spanx for the evening.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

My husband used to drink a large soda at lunch. He was never fat, but he had a small tummy and high cholesterol. When he stopped drinking that one soda (actually, it was one of those huge cups, so it was probably like drinking two cans of soda) he lost 17 pounds, which was too much, so he had to gain back 7 and his cholesterol is normal. Soda is really, really bad for you. I think diet soda is just as bad in it’s own way. Don’t drink either. I drink mostly water and iced tea. Never had a UTI in my life, btw.

      • Loulou says:

Same thing happened with my fiancé. Stopped drinking his two cans of soda a day and in 4-5 months lost over 20 pounds. I couldn’t believe how much of an impact it made.

    • jinglebellsmell says:

I think you all misunderstood…She means that she stopped drinking soda for the two hours that the surgeon was sucking fat out of her body!

      Maintaining a healthy lifestyle Kardashian-Style!

    • Miss M says:

What Jojo said. I know people who lost a lot of weigh when they cut down soda, but I am not one of them. Although, I do look more defined.

  2. quantum entanglement says:

I feel like all of her exercise efforts are hampered by her giant ass of lies. She’d look a lot slimmer/more toned without those ridiculous implants. As it is, she looks the same-ish to me?????

    • Santia says:

And she lies anyway. She lost weight by not drinking soda. Okay, and she gained an ass the size of three women’s by doing “squats and lunges.” Remember that? Oh, please …

      • Bella says:

        THIS! They’re sooo ridiculous!

      • kitty28 says:

Yes! Was going to say the same thing. She is so full of BS. No doubt she cut out soda, but there are other things going on here as well.

    • pinetree13 says:

Google ‘brazilian butt lift’ they inject fat into your butt. Fat from your OWN body. AKA I don’t think she dieted at all…I think it’s all just being sucked out and put into her butt repeatedly.

  3. Shambles says:

I actually respect what she has to say about lifestyle changes vs. quick fixes. I’m a yogi, and I really believe in adopting a healthier lifestyle that will carry you through long-term vs. going through a 13 and a half day quick fix cleanse and burn.

As far as cutting out soda… *cries* I’m so weak. I don’t smoke cigarettes, I rarely ever drink… An ice cold Coke is my vice. That first sip is orgasmic, to me. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to give up my cokes completely.

    • LadyMTL says:

Shambles, I feel your pain. I actually drastically cut back my soda consumption a few years ago; I used to drink a can or two a day and now it’s maybe 2 a week. (I did it not to lose weight but because I knew it was getting to be an issue).

That said, I can’t seem to stop it altogether, and I can’t stand diet drinks. I know soda has no nutritional value at all, that the sugar is bad for me, and so on, but yeah…every now and then I need a fix. When it’s hot outside and I take a big gulp of Coke, ahhhhh. That’s the stuff.

      • Shambles says:

LadyMTL, it’s so funny– when you say “ahhhh,” I know exactly what you mean. I can actually feel the sensation of bliss you’re describing. There’s just something so satisfying about a cold Coke on a hot day. Like you said, there isn’t any nutritional value, but there’s value for the soul. 😉 In strict moderation, I don’t think a Coke or two is the worst thing in the world.

      • LadyMTL says:

ITA, there are way worse things to ingest than an occasional Coke. It makes me happy, so it can’t be all bad…right? Riiiiiight? LOL

      • Kitten says:

I never cared much for sodas but I make these cat sugar cookies that I’m freakin addicted to. I make them to bring to parties or I just bake a batch to keep in my freezer. I finally had to make an executive decision to stop making them, at least for a while, because I have ZERO self-control around them.

They’re really my only true vice when it comes to sweets. These cookies are sweet but not overly-sweet which is why I love them. Sigh. I want one right now, dammit!

      • Shambles says:

        LadyMTL,
        *sings*
IF IT MAKES YOU HAAAPPYYYYY, IT CAN’T BE THAT BAAAAAD
        😉

Kitten, you make me giggle. Only you would be addicted to cat cookies. Only you. I bet they taste amazeballs along with that human version of catnip that you’re so fond of… *smirks @ u*

      • Kitten says:

@Shambles, I also have a set of barnyard animal cookie cutters so I get to mix it up.
        Basically, I’m a huge dork.

    • Wren says:

She’s quite right. The reasons so many diets don’t work is because for true, healthy, lasting weight loss you have to change your lifestyle. It’s hard, but baby steps are the key. I started with cutting out soda and it just went from there. Now I don’t even want it anymore. The last time I had one I could taste the boatload of sugar and fake flavorings and quietly dumped the rest of the can down the sink.

    • Korra says:

Yeah if you have an eye for it in the longer term it’s much easier to live a healthier lifestyle. But yes, Cola is my weakness.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Chocolate. I don’t want to think about what life would be like without it. Not worth living.

  4. Jem says:

I’m sure cocaine played a role in her weight loss too

    • Aussie girl says:

I know it’s terrible to say and we shouldn’t believe the blind stories but I too thought what coke are we talking about…..

    • Pandy says:

I don’t believe anything they say, frankly. Cocaine, lipo … whatevs.

  5. Ruyana says:

She does look good and she’d look even better if she didn’t have the Ass of Lies following her everywhere. As to her diet, I believe nothing that comes out of a Kardashian/jenner/Whoever’s mouth.

  6. Ashtau says:

I think she looks great, and while reducing soda will certainly help, I would argue that having access to a celebrity personal trainer 24/7 (and having the TIME to dedicate several hours/day to work with said trainer) is the real key here. I also wouldn’t downplay the fact that she most assuradely has a personal chef or can order healthy meals whenever she chooses. I’m not downplaying the work she’s done or the great shape she’s in, I just think it’s unrealistic for a non-celebrity woman to read this and think that by cutting down on soda consumption, you will lose 30 lbs.

    • Zigggy says:

Totally- it’s like saying all you need to do is take the stairs or park further away from stores and you’ll lose weight.

      • Sandra says:

I would “like” the hell out of this comment if there was a “like” button!!!

      • jwoolman says:

Actually, for a lot of people, the move a little more, eat a little less principle really does make a difference. Even setting up a computer for standing use as well as sitting can help. A lot of us are pretty marginal activity-wise so just a small change such as parking further away could make the difference between slow weight gain and weight normalization. Sedentary small women especially may have a very narrow range between weight gain and weight loss/ maintenance because their calorie needs are so low but they can’t cut back too far and still get the nutrients they need. Someone who is taller or male or just more active in general has more leeway.

Upping the intake of fruit and non-starchy veg, especially greens, can make a difference also. Not only is it more filling, but they bring vitamins and minerals that the body needs and this can cut down cravings for simpler not so nutritious carbohydrate foods (Oreos, I’m talking about you!).

Usually weight maintenance should be a no brainer for the body, but apparently modern living has a tendency to mess up that natural mechanism. Maybe it’s stress-related. Many women have to eat under stressful circumstances at work or home (refereeing kids, for example, or hurrying to get somewhere) and that isn’t very satisfying, leading to eating more when finally relaxed. When I had to stay with my aunt for a few months, I was starving when I finally got back home. I just wasn’t enjoying my food with all the family tension at her place, so at some level it didn’t count to my brain. I just don’t eat or eat minimally (and only easy to digest foods like fruit or rice or protein drinks) when I’m under pressure now, that works much better for me. I do have to remind myself that the food isn’t going to disappear overnight when the pressure is off (such as when a job is delivered) and avoid eating everything in sight once I’m relaxed and the appetite returns.

    • Josephine says:

I wouldn’t downplay plastic surgery and other similar interventions, either. I think anything these people say has very little truth. Not one of them looks healthy, fit or strong to me, and that has nothing to do with their actual weight. Collectively, they have almost no muscle tone and all of the make-up, fake body bits, fake hair, fake tan, and spanx seems the absolute opposite of healthy to me.

    • Wren says:

Cutting out soda is how I started, and I lost almost 70 pounds. So, it’s doable. I’m sure she has it WAY WAY easier, but it’s not out of the question. Once I stopped with soda, other unhealthy things started falling by the wayside and I lost weight. From soda I went to “no desserts I didn’t make myself”. Then “no desserts and no starchy food I didn’t make myself”. Both because that way I could control the ingredients and if I was too lazy to make anything I didn’t have any. And so on. Making every change all at once would have been impossible, but over the course of several months it all just kind of happened.

Starting with “no soda” is an easy, sane place to start. For fizzy goodness I buy super cheap seltzer water and flavor it with fruit. It’s yummy and refreshing.

    • Kitten says:

I think it helps to have a trainer for sure, helps even more to have a personal chef or a special meal delivery service. However, I do think it’s possible to be really fit with determination, self-control, and a dedication to meeting your fitness goals.

    • Bella says:

@Ashtau, excellent point! It’s also unrealistic that she claims that working out contributed to the growth of her ass, and unfortunately, average girls all over Instagram now believe that they too can grow an ass 10x’s bigger at the gym without gaining any muscle mass whatsoever. This family lies like crazy. Khloe would really be the only person on the planet who managed to grow her glutes without growing her hamstrings or gaining any other musculature anywhere else on her legs or body. I’m not sure who she thinks she’s kidding.

There is a huge abundance of women getting butt implants and injections where I live and it really is ALL because of this family and their influence which unfortunately is pretty powerful. Lies like “I got this body in the gym” and “our butts are natural!” have lead to an increase in butt implants. Sad times.

      • Santia says:

Bella, sorry! I said the same thing above, ’cause I didn’t bother to scroll down first. But, yeah, all lies.

  7. FingerBinger says:

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out cutting out sugary drinks will help with weight loss. Diet soda is just as bad because of the artificial sweeteners.

  8. noway says:

Hate to be the bearer of really bad news, but my doctor who normally isn’t a big nutrition hound said that there is so much research now about the dangers of diet soda over the last few years she felt she had to counsel her patients on its dangers. The research has that it has a counter effect, and causes weight problems and diabetes as much as sugared sodas. She was stating we should try to just drink mostly plain water. I knew it was bad, but didn’t expect that, and as I love my diet sodas too.

    • Josephine says:

I gave it up, and it stunk to do so. But one upside is that I lost a lot of bloating when I did. I think lots of people don’t handle the artificial stuff well and bloat as a result. Sparkling water has become my go-to because I like the bubbly sometimes. But it’s still hard, especially at restaurants.

      • Kitten says:

I’m a seltzer fanatic as well. Although my dentist said the carbonation is bad for you teeth, so I guess we can’t win huh?

      • FLORC says:

My bottle return is all polar. I can tell how long i have had the bottles from the limited edition flavors. Maybe $10 every 3 months.
And omg. Add vanilla to lemonade juce. Or mojito to limade to make a low cal margarita!
Or just down a liter on its own

      • Santia says:

But wouldn’t seltzer make you bloat, too, being carbonated and all?

      • Kitten says:

“My bottle return is all polar.”

        Me too!!!!!

OMG, FLORC. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I freak out when the new Polars are released. Polar is a big reason why I could never live on the west coast.

Right now, I’m drinking the pomegranate sangria.

      • FLORC says:

        Kitten
        Same!
Pom Sangria is awesome. I’m partial to the Blueberry lemonade currently and go to a year round black cherry/pom or pear/vanilla. When on it’s own anyways.
And do they not carry it on the West coast? I do love being so near to the factory. It helps.
        Santia
It can if that’s all you drink. It’s less than 7% carbonation though so you are still hydrating. I’m not too keen on the “natural flavors” though. Sometimes I have taken plain seltzer and muddled my own backyard berries into it. Just not the same flavors:(
And I wasn’t even a fan when I started drinking them. They were just around when I was thirsty. Then you’re addicted. Then you’re drinking right from the bottle. No sodium, no cal. And if you can get past the ntural, but unnamed flavors you’re in heaven! And really… All the great drinks you can make.. adding that burst of flavor and carbonation! I’m fangirling.

    • PinaColada says:

+1 I’ve heard that, too. Plus the Carmel coloring (which is totally unnecessary!) is carcinogenic! My mom got cancer when I was 17 and died from it. I cannot do anything I know causes cancer (cigarettes etc) without thinking of her. I know I know, you’d probably need to drink xyz cokes/day to cause that. But I just can’t. I drink water or black coffee and I don’t even like pop (soda) anymore.

    • Hotpockets says:

      Thanks for posting noway.

I hear many people who seem to think that diet soda is fine or at least better than regular soda, when in reality, it’s terrible for you. You know what makes sucrolose (artificial sweetener) taste so sweet? It has chlorine molecules in it, which makes it taste much sweeter than regular sugar. Artificial sweeteners also have additives in them, which makes you’re body crave the taste of the fake sugar. You’re essentially drinking poison, there is nothing but neurotoxins and carcinogenic ingredients in those diet sodas.

      • Antonym says:

I always say “diet soda is the devil”.

I’ve never been a diet drinker, I think fake sweeteners have a bitter aftertaste. Like LAK, and a few others above, we didn’t drink a lot of soda growing up. It was available (80/90’s), but we were poor and my parents didn’t “waste money” on things we didn’t *need*. That said, I’ve known several people who were addicted to soda, diet and regular, that lost a lot of weight after kicking the habit.

    • Alex says:

Yup “diet” soda is terrible for you. The basic problem is the artificial sweetner used for diet drinks. They actually make you crave more sugar and often times your body cannot break down artificial sweetners like we do regular sugar. We did a chem project in college with it because my professor wanted to prove that all the girls drinking diet soda weren’t doing themselves any favors. I’ve never had diet soda and after that class I never will lol. I usually drink infused water or seltzer

    • lucy2 says:

Yeah, the artificial stuff can be brutal. I used to drink diet coke, and stopped ages ago. If I have anything with even a hint of artificial sweetener in it now, I get a HORRIBLE headache and feel terrible. Someone I know is basically a diet soda addict, drinks probably more than 2 liters a day, and was having all kinds of health problems. Her doctor told her to cut it out, but I don’t know if she did or not.

    • jwoolman says:

One thing to try to preserve your teeth and gums is the sugar alcohol xylitol (aka birch sugar), which tastes like cane sugar to me and is well tolerated by most people (keep away from dogs and cats etc., they can’t handle it so it’s dangerous for them). I use it for oral health, the therapeutic dose is 6 grams to 10 grams per day, letting a little dissolve in your mouth after every eating or drinking session. It starves out the pathogens that build up tartar and also result in cavities and also tends to bring your mouth back to neutrality or even slightly alkaline (the bad microbeasties prefer an acidic mouth). You can just shake a little granulated xylitol on your tongue if preferred (6-10 grams equals about 1.5 to 2.5 tsp total per day). Gums and little “mints” or candy chips (like Ice Chips) are sold that have 0.5 to 2 grams xylitol in them also, just let one or two dissolve in your mouth. Just a couple of minutes chewing the gum is enough to extract the xylitol from it. Especially handy after soda, since you shouldn’t brush for at least half an hour due to the temporary softening effect of the acid on your teeth. But you can pop some xylitol right away. Avoid gums or candies that include other sweetners such as sorbitol, which some microbeasties seem to learn to metabolize. Xylitol has been deliberately used for cavity prevention since at least the 1930s and the microbeasties still seem stumped by it.

Reducing the microbeasty population in your mouth makes a huge difference for your teeth and gums – I also daily use Dr. Ellie Phillips recommendation of the sequence Closys (1 capful, 1 minute), brushing with a low abrasion toothpaste like regular Crest, followed by a small amount of regular listerine (about 10 mL is enough) for a minute, then non-alcoholic ACT fluoride rinse for a minute or two. The Closys and listerine hit the microbeasties at different stages, and the acidic listerine (not rinsed off with water) is a good prep for the fluoride rinse because it gives it more surface area with the temporary grooves any acid makes in your teeth. Plus I use the xylitol throughout the day. You can google “Dr. Ellie” and come up with her old blog that has a lot of good info, although nowadays more dentists are recommending xylitol.

Also try to avoid sipping acidic drinks too slowly, you’re keeping your teeth awash in acid that way. Dilute acid can be worse than full strength.

We’ve had a pretty long heat wave over here. So for some reason my go to drink has been unsweetened ice tea. Soda is crazy sweet to me, and it doesn’t make me feel hydrated. That being said, diet soda is king with my Husband. The amount of diet Pepsi he goes through is insane. I can always taste the diet and the after taste makes me cringe a bit. But different strokes. It is a little crazy when you can drink a lot of your calories in one can.

    • Kitten says:

Soda just makes me thirstier. So does ice cream and a lot of sweet things actually.

      • FLORC says:

        Kitten
From our fitness chats here your body is likely fine tuned and craves specifics. You could easily find yourself feeling dehydrated quicker than others because your is struggling to get back to its normal.
Me too. Even after a night out with drinks i’ll wake up in the night and get an urge to chug a liter of water.

      • Kitten says:

Yes FLORC! I would say that I drink twice as much water as everyone else in the office. Always hydrating and annoyingly, always running to the bathroom 🙁

      • FLORC says:

You’re just healthier than the rest Kitten!

  10. Snazzy says:

Actually, I have recently started seeing a nutritionist and she told me the same thing: cut out the diet soda. Have a regular soda as a treat once in a while and that’s it. But I I’m like Kaiser and I don’t drink coffee either – I need a Coke Zero to wake up in the morning! So for the moment I’ve cut it down to one a day, but indeed, for serious weight loss, the nutritionist said I have to cut it out completely 🙁

    • Zip says:

Try green tea / matcha instead, or anything that contains guarana. You can put in in drinks, smoothies, oat meal or wherever you like. That stuff will wake you up and keep you going longer than caffeine coming from coffee, coke or energy drinks will! Plus: Green tea / matcha is super healthy.

    • TheOtherViv says:

I used to be like Kaiser, too. Giving up diet coke was hard, I was sleepy and had more migraines than usual. Because of my migraines my doctor recommended taking 50 mg of coffeine (half a tablet) or to drink an espresso every day. I don’t like coffee, but holymoly, taking that bit of coffeine changed my life. Lost 10 pounds and don’t miss the diet sodas anymore. When I go on vacation anywhere tropical I do drink diet soda again and always put weight back on- no matter how much I work out.

  11. lila fowler says:

The whole family looks straight out of Madame Tussauds.

  12. swack says:

Oh Kaiser, you are my girl! I drink Diet Pepsi also it’s my one vice. I also can’t handle regular soda (may be a stray root beer here and there). While taking the soda out of her diet and drinking more water will help with the weight loss, it is not the only reason she has lost the weight. So let’s not perpetuate the myth that by eliminating soda from your diet, you too can lose a ton of weight. It’s much more than that.

  13. We Are All Made of Stars says:

Okay, the first two sentences in that quote are hysterical. That is right up there with the dumbest and stupidest s&*t that has ever been uttered by the Kardashians.

They say that your average American gets nearly 40% of their sugar intake from soda alone. So yes, I can believe that a Starbucks/soda addict csn drop some real weight from cutting it out. Also, she looks like a real doll in that header pic, christ have mercy.

    • jwoolman says:

Khloe’s face seems to change so much all the time. I think it’s the makeup. She’s someone who looks entirely different without makeup, unrecognizable. So if anyone thinks she looks terrific in the face – praise the person who slathered the mask on her.

  14. Sassback says:

It’s totally realistic; I haven’t had any soda, diet or otherwise in like four years. You just drink tea or water only. I imagine it would be hard for people who really really make it apart of their beverage consumption but soda was only ever a treat in my family, maybe that’s why it’s easier. But looking for a caffeine fix, get some green tea in you. If you wipe caffeine mostly from your diet, the amount of caffeine in green tea will become enough.

But to say diet soda ISN’T bad for you, that’s crazy. Studies show diet is probably worse for you than regular soda. The artificial sweeteners help expand your waistline and it’s the carbonation and the chemicals that pretty much ruin your body. Plus there’s a psychological component-like ‘I’m drinking diet soda, so I’m healthy, so I can increase my caloric intake in other areas.’ Soda is soda, period.

Same thing with artificial sweeteners or things like stevia. Nutritionists say if you need to put sugar in something, use real sugar. The problem is people *want* sugar constantly, so instead of just cutting down, they replace it with artificial or ‘natural’ sweetener and consume just as much. Just because the box says ‘0’ calorie doesn’t mean it’s not bad for you. My boss has that weird logic; the staff begged her to buy healthier snacks for the break room instead of tons of chips and candy and she brought Swedish Fish-because it has a low cal. label.

    • Anastasia says:

OMG to the Swedish Fish thing. What’s wrong with fruit???

      • Stephanie says:

I just thought it was funny that someone call lemon water the new thing since we’ve been served it in restaurants forever . My great uncle used to ask for extra lemons and sugar to make free “lemonade” when he was at restaurants.

    • Stephanie says:

Hahaha…my boss had lemon water available at a meeting because it’s “the new thing.”

      • Sassback says:

We serve infused water to clients too. It’s actually not a bad idea. Like my friend hates drinking water, he only ever drinks ‘flavored’ drinks like gatorade and soda, so I bought him an infused water bottle, that you can put fruit in, and now he actually drinks water. The idea behind it is to flavor water in a healthy way instead of those nasty Mio or Splenda flavor packets so you actually get hydrated. Otherwise I guess it’s just pretty and nice for a group haha.

      • pinetree13 says:

I actually dislike when I’m served lemon-water because I have very thin enamel and my dentist warned me that lemon-water is bad, bad, bad for your enamel :S

    • mollie says:

      I drink no soda.
It’s completely realistic and healthier for everyone. Diet soda is just as bad or even worse.

    • Stephanie says:

I just thought it was funny that someone call lemon water the new thing since we’ve been served it in restaurants forever . My great uncle used to ask for extra lemons and sugar to make free “lemonade” when he was at restaurants.

  15. Anastasia says:

Why would iced tea give someone a UTI?

I cut out all sodas, diet and regular, ten years ago. Can’t stand them now. I drink hot tea in the morning and water the rest of the day. And wine. 😉

    • Hotpockets says:

it wouldn’t. Not peeing when you need to go or not drinking enough fluids will give someone a uti.

    • Rachel says:

It doesn’t. Tea only aggravates current UTIs.

    • frankly says:

I have tried to switch from coffee to hot green tea several times over the last 10 years – every time, horrible UTI. All other tea makes me nauseated.

    • jwoolman says:

Some people find their bladder is irritated by caffeine and/or sugar, so it would feel like a UTI. Maybe that’s the connection between tea and apparent UTIs. Also too much sugar can be a problem with microbeasties. Not sure about E. coli (the main one causing UTIs), but yeasties can apparently thrive on extra sugar. At least cutting out sugar is generally recommended for Candida albicans control.

      • pinetree13 says:

AGREED! Yeah tons of sugar in the iced tea would be the problem not the tea itself (unless the person already had a UTI in which case the caffeine would be a no-go just like you said)

  16. serena says:

That’s code name for ‘lipo and spanx’ now?

    • Brittney B says:

I was just thinking she traded Coca Cola for something else that starts with “coca”…

  17. Michelle says:

I am sure that dropping the soft drinks has helped a little. I have not had any form of soda in over 7 years. I knew I needed to cut them out because of the empty calories and sugar, but I could never get over the taste of the diet drinks, so I quit them all cold turkey. I would yak if I had to drink one now because they are so sweet. I’m not a coffee drinker either. Never could fix it so it tasted good to me. I mainly stick to water, and the occasional sweet tea (the nectar of the Gods). It’s boring, but it works for me. And like she was saying, if you cn do something for a solid month, it is pretty much a life style change.

  18. Me too says:

Soda is disgusting and diet is even worse. How anyone can ingest that toxic beverage is beyond me. Also, it is so ridiculously sweet I cannot fathom how it can be considered a beverage intended for hydration on any level. It is really a dessert. When I see grocery carts full of soda, I totally judge the person buying it. Actually, I judge anyone that has a grocery cart full of processed foods. It floors me the stuff that people eat. No fresh foods at all and my cart is full of fruits, veggies, and lean meats.

    • Patricia says:

      Um yes. All of that.
Soda is s**t for your body. Every person I know who can’t lose weight and just has that extremely bloated and tired look has one thing in common: soda consumption.

I drink a half a soda maybe twice a year, at a picnic or something. And I can feel it like crazy because it’s dumping sugar and chemicals into your body.

If you are consuming soda every day do yourself a favor and read up on what it does to your metabolism, your gut, even your brain (the aspartame especially). If you still want to drink it that’s cool of course, it’s your body. I just don’t get it.

    • Jess says:

Jeez, I don’t drink soda/eat much processed food either but you seem overly offended and kind of rude, all while patting yourself on the back for purchasing healthier food. Quit looking in other carts and mind your own business if it disgusts you so much, good lord.

      • korra says:

I’m gonna judge her if her cart isn’t fully of organic veggies and meats. And girl you better be drinking almond milk. Don’t use paper towel, get some rags! You best be using those reusable bags. Otherwise I’m judging your lean meats, veggies, and fruits.

    • jwoolman says:

Well, for all you know the person could be stocking up on soda for a year during a sale. I actually do that. I got a case of 24 cans of Mountain Dew for free (coupon) and it will be tough getting through it in a year… So you really can’t judge from a person’s cart. They also could be buying for someone else or for a party or other large group.

  19. FLORC says:

I’ve never heard of a UTI caused by drinking ice tea/large amounts of tea. There could be a poor diet a bacteria balance that gets shifted from intake of high sugar drinks/alcohol/coffee, but not as a cause. Correct me if i’m wrong. They WILL promote the growth and worsen symptoms of a UTI. Or be the tip in the scales that makes it.
As long as you’re flushing and hydrating your body properly while maintaining proper hygiene you’re fine.

And totally realistic. Soda and diet soda are horrible for your body. Even diet will still rot your teeth and the “sugars” can be worse. The only benefit to diet is fewer cals, but overall just as bad if not worse overall.
What gets a lot of people is they’re not aware how many calories they’re drinking and what they are drinking. Cut out sodas you have more balanced energy in your day. You swap soda for water or something with less sugar. Overall you’re only improving your health.

    • FingerBinger says:

I suppose it’s possible if she drank large amounts. This man said drinking iced tea was the reason for his kidney failure. http://www.foxnews.com/health/2015/04/02/arkansas-man-kidney-failures-stemmed-from-too-much-iced-tea/

      • FLORC says:

Kidney failure yes. Kidney infection yes. I’m making the assumption the UTI’s are the most common type. And are caught early before becoming worse. That’s why I think it’s keeping your body poorly hydrated and a personal hygiene oversight.

It’s so important everyone drinks at least a few glasses of water a day. So many go without just water. When you lack water/proper hydration you stop flushing out your system and your body suffers.

Ultimately, you can drink loads and loads of a sugar drink/diuretic and the lack of flushing. You will probably get an infection. Not because of ice tea specifically when compared to similar drinks.

  20. Birdie says:

Ok, german here asking, what is Soda? When I ask my friends they tell me it’s sparkling water, but this article tells me it’s lemonade-ish?!

  21. LuvHotGuyFri says:

Good for her on making healthier choices. I used to drink Diet Coke allllll day long for years and quit cold turkey about 4 years ago. I feel great and crave sugar less overall. I just changed how I thought about it and grossed myself out when I thought about it-it really is yuck and full of chemicals. I stick to water, green unsweetened tea and BCAA’s mixed into water once or twice a day (to support all my hard work in the gym). It’s not hard and is empowering if you change your thought process and don’t let yourself feel like your being deprived-you’re just not allowing it to have a hold on you any longer.

  22. Moody Blue says:

Soda is bad. Diet soda is bad. Most studies find that diet soda drinkers are heavier on average than reg soda drinkers. Wth? Also in regards to drinking tea all day, I am pretty sure she didn’t mean sweet tea! Lol . I don’t think that any weight loss comes from that.

  23. word says:

Kylie was interviewed the other day for E and she said Khloe used to cook all her food with coconut oil and then found out she was allergic to it. She stopped using coconut oil and the “water weight” came off. These words came directly from Kylie. I don’t know.

I must say diet soda isn’t must better for you than regular soda. That fake sugar is horrible for you !

    • Lynnie says:

Wouldn’t she lose her life if she was cooking all her food with the very oil she’s allergic too let alone “water weight”? This family are the WORST liars.

      • jwoolman says:

No, her allergen probably wouldn’t kill her and obviously didn’t. If she has tendencies toward allergies, eating a lot of the food all the time could actually cause the allergic reaction – in moderation, you might never gets past the threshold for symptoms. Rotating foods is one way to control and prevent such non-fatal allergies. I can eat tomatoes occasionally but not every day or I’ll start having trouble. Likewise with dairy, although egg seems to be something I need to mostly avoid in any serious amount (I could have been arrested for DUI after a single egg salad sandwich…) Many people have non-life-threatening allergies which are hard to track down as a result. Effects can also be delayed. You can be getting headaches, for example, or fatigue or congestion or bloating but not immediately after eating.

    • jwoolman says:

Undiagnosed allergies definitely can contribute big time to water retention. When I first was diagnosed and stopped eating my allergens, the weight came off so fast that it just had to be mostly retained water.

  24. jferber says:

I’d like to comment on Kloe’s face alone. Yes, she dyed her hair blond and she has the lip injections, but when I first saw her, I got a Kate Hudson vibe. Has she had a nose job, too? I know they’ll lie and say it’s “contouring” but it looks to me that she had subtle work done on her nose. What do you think? She looks good, but I think that’s part of why she looks good.

  25. Tiffany says:

I am pretty sure the Doctor that does her lipo will be insulted to be called, ‘Cutting out soda’.

I’m just messing with you, I am sure that is all Gunnar.

    • Asha says:

      Nailed it!

    • pinetree13 says:

Exactly. People keep commenting on her growing butt but don’t see the connection. THey need to google “Brazilian butt lift before and after” they suck the fat out of your love handles and belly and put it in your butt!!!! So she isn’t losing weight, it’s just being artificially re-distributed.

  26. Debbie says:

This is actually the best advice that any celebrity has ever given about weight loss it isn’t dieting it’s lifestyle changes and they need to be realistic and slow.

Cutting out soda is easy and makes a huge difference, honestly it (especially diet) is the worst thing for you and if you cut it out it is amazing how much weight you will lose.

  27. DEB says:

Never mind her weight, who cares? What about the extensive (more) surgery to her face???

  28. Sandra says:

I love my Coke Zero – LOVE IT!!! That being said, I stopped drinking it for about a year when I realized that having it as my go-to drink made my rosacea prone skin inflame. After that I also realized that when I drank it, it ran right over my one very sensitive tooth and was a big cause of my tooth sensitivity. Now my skin is just fine and my tooth is hardly an issue. I seem to be creeping up to having it more often again, mostly because I find it so refreshing in the hot summer. Nothing quenches my thirst the way pop does. Thanks for the reminder to stop (if you don’t remind me, my skin will). 🙂

  29. jferber says:

Yes, what has she done to her face?

  30. ToodySezHey says:

Diet, regular, soda is crap and empty calories. If it wasn’t for my job I woukdnt drink soda at all because I don’t purchase 2 liters or 12 packs to bring home.

My water intake isn’t quite where I want it to be but I try to keep a bottle of water on me at all times.

An easy way to replace soda is club.soda.

I LOVE club soda. I’ll often pour some juice into a half consumed bottle of club sods for a nice fizzy flavored drinks.

But I avoid the flavored diet club sodas like the plague.

My beverages of choice tend to be club soda, juice or powerade and I try and buy real juice without corn syrup in it.

That ocean spray 100 percent cranberry juice is amazing.

  31. Andrea says:

I grew up in a caffeine free household (my parents are NOT Mormon) and never developed a taste for soda (too sweet for me). ironically though, in the south, I developed a taste for sweet tea, which is even worse IMO. I have since moved north(canada now) and given it up completely. I also no longer drink coffee and only drink hot tea and water now. I have a friend who swears diet soda is okay for him occasionally, but he has always had a weight problem.

  32. islandwalker says:

Her face looks like molded plastic.

  33. aang says:

Diet soda is the worst, so bitter tasting. I occasionally have a regular soda, about once a month. Coffee upsets my stomach so I’m reduced to tea or lemon water. If I want a sweet drink I mix 2 ounces lemonade with 6 ounces of water. Sweet enough. Trying to convince my kids that artificial sweeteners are poison is an uphill battle.

  34. Redd says:

I think soda is a bit of a scapegoat. It’s great to reduce sugar and empty calories, but I have witnessed friends who treat a can of soda akin to a pack of cigarettes, yet they will happily eat trendy cupcakes, cronuts, or anything pinterest cute. Soda hating friends love their wine which has arguable health benefits but is also caloric and has very little nutrition.

It’s great to get out of the soda habit but I don’t really see it as worse than other junk.

    • me says:

I was recently in the UK and noticed a “soda snobbery’ attitude going on. None of the children were allowed to touch soda. Even the happy meals come with juice (soda is not an option given). It’s weird because many fruit juices have just as much sugar as soda does. These same children were allowed to eat ice cream, cake, chocolate, and candy…put soda was completely off limits lol.

      • Redd says:

That’s interesting and not surprising. My sister will not permit soda in her home but her kids snack on goldfish and gogurts, go figure. They’re all lean and active though, and they get very healthy meals so it’s probably not a big deal.

I think obesity researchers have been focusing on soda and studies are coming out so people are more aware of that over other types of food. But foods like frequent french fries consumption are linked with poor health outcomes and not getting the trendy hate.

      • Zip says:

It depends on what kind of sugar it is. Fruit sugar is something completely different than artificial diet sugar or this cristal sugar.

      • EN says:

They think juice is healthier than soda , more natural.
If you ask for a soda at an European restaurant you’ll get “the look”. Most don’t even have it.

Kind of the same look I’ve been getting asking for black tea in the US, I know better now, lol.

      • pinetree13 says:

Actually Zip the sugar from fruit that is in juice is just as unhealthy for you. It is a total myth that naturally occurring sugars like cane, honey, etc are better for you. Sometimes these come with added benefits (honey and natural maple syrups have antioxidants) but the sugar itself is just as bad.

It’s taken a long, long time to get my family to understand that chocolate milk has THE EXACT SAME amount of sugar in it as coca-cola. My mom still doesn’t get it and thinks chocolate milk is healthier. Drives me nuts.

    • HeatherAnn says:

I agree with you. No one thinks diet soda is healthy but come one, it’s not the end of the world either. I personally drink it and I am perfectly thin (age 41, size 6 after having four kids). It’s the whole picture of what you eat/how active you are and it’s easy to pick on one food when you personally don’t like it. I constantly have people lecture me if I get a diet coke with water and salad for lunch (yum! go to lunch) and I just don’t understand it because i would never lecture someone about their giant fries or the fact I never hear the end of how it’s impossible for them to fit in exercise. Everyone says diet coke drinkers are heavier and maybe so, but I see lots of big people who preach loudly about never drinking it. Anecdotal evidence can cut both ways. Again, everyone knows its a poor nutritional choice but whether or not you drink diet soda is not the only factor in whether you are healthy. Rant over. Thanks.

      • Redd says:

I think you’re totally correct. Diet is important to health but so are social connections, exercise, avoiding stress. Buy people who don’t want to stay late at work so they can relax and see friends or spend more time with kids are looked down upon.

I think as long as your weight is good and your bp, lipids, etc. are fine and you’re active, not smoking, then who cares if you have a diet coke or even a regular coke sometimes? I’m the same age and I figure my health routine is working, ain’t broke so don’t fix it!

  35. me says:

Yeah but if Coke or Pepsi offered her a lucrative soda deal she’d gladly say she loves drinking it !

  36. Jess says:

Can’t believe I’m about to say this but I agree with her about lifestyle change instead of diets. Seems like she has a healthy attitude and it really does show on her body and she looks great, surgeries aside.

I used to be a diet coke addict, and I mean ADDICT. I was drinking an insane amount daily, I decided to quit once I added up how much I spent on them in a year, I got pissed how high that number was! I lost about 7 pounds over a month, and I drank diet so I believe those stories about how fake sugar makes you hold onto weight more, it’s been 3 years since I’ve had one and now I crave water like I’m dying of thirst all the time and don’t understand how I lived without it before, I do crave carbonation about once a month so I drink an Izze, which is sparkling juice with no fake sugar and it does the trick. I feel so much better without soda and save a lot of money.

  37. Dawn says:

I did that years ago and really didn’t lose a pound! I think she is not telling the truth again. But what else is new. I am sure coke is still in her diet.

  38. mootwo says:

i always lose weight when i stop drinking soda. however, i drink/drank A LOT of soda everyday. when i drank coke zero, the more i drank, the more i wanted to eat sugary things afterwards.

  39. Asha says:

No she’s lost weight via cosmetic procedure! Cutting out pop? No. I think not.

    • pinetree13 says:

YEP! She has had several brazilian butt lifts. These procedures suck the fat out of your love handles and belly and put it in your butt. It’s not silicone, it’s her own fat.

  40. Anon33 says:

As someone who used to get three to four UTIs a year, they are absolutely not caused by what you drink, only aggravated. They are caused by bacteria in the urethra or extremely forceful damaging intercourse. Some people like me get them more frequently because of the way our urethras are positioned. And you would have to be majorly dehydrated over a period of multiple days before you would develop one and even then it would more likely be a kidney infection as oppose to a UTI (I’ve had both and the symptoms are similar but not the cause.)

  41. G says:

I lost weight mostly belly fat after giving up tea and soda’s. I didn’t get a Pinocchio butt or a disproportionate tiny waste out of it though. Weird.

  42. lucy2 says:

I think she’s been working out hard and it shows, and she makes a good point about lifestyle changes, but it’s then all undone by the ridiculous fake butt. No matter what they do or look like, all of them have such messed up body image issues and will never stop trying to alter their appearance.

  43. Tacos and TV says:

Kinda happy that these girls aren’t talked about as much… I’ve noticed them not appearing as much on blog sites! yay… Kylie does but at least Kim is going away!

    • me says:

Yes kim is definitely on the decline. There is nothing left she can do to get attention. Taking her clothes off is not working anymore lol. Even having a second pregnancy is not getting her much attention. She must be so jealous of Kylie ! I wouldn’t put it past Kim to come up with “Kanye cheating rumors”. She’ll do anything for the spotlight !

  44. Bella says:

I guess it all depends on how much soda she was drinking. Diet soda, despite having a 0 calorie count and 0g sugar is still linked to obesity and diabetes. When I was a teenager I used to drink diet soda all the time and when I made a lifestyle change, I stopped drinking it and it did contribute to my weight loss. It wasn’t the only bad habit I gave up though. This is the second claim I’ve read from her about how she “lost all the weight.” The first claim was that she’s lactose intolerant and once she gave up dairy, pounds just melted off her body. I don’t quite understand that personally. I’m lactose intolerant and can tell you I bloat less, feel 1000x’s better, and have clearer skin when I avoid dairy at all costs, but I can’t fathom how being lactose intolerant would really contribute to significant weight loss.

I’m not sure why she feels that she has to give these silly reasons for her weight loss when the reality of it is that she works out, watches what she eats, and has a cosmetic surgeon on speed dial. I know she has critics and skeptics about whether or not she even works out, but I believe she does. She has the body of a woman who does a lot of cardio, but doesn’t workout with weights. She is less mushy than Kim is when Kim is “in shape,” but even with all the hours she logs in at the gym, she isn’t all that toned. Her ridiculously fake ass also makes her look more overweight than she actually is, and I get a kick out of how she claims it got bigger by working out yet her legs have zero muscle tone. That isn’t even possible.

  45. boredblond says:

Noticed cdan has a completely different take on her weight loss in the first blind today 😱…whatever..

  46. jwoolman says:

I’m lucky that I don’t like coca cola enough to get addicted – but I always keep some around as a sinus headache-with-nausea cure. About 6 ounces of the Real Thing (with caffeine and real calories-containing sugar of some type, corn syrup will do although it doesn’t taste as good as cane sugar), sipped over a period of about ten minutes or so (not sure if speed matters) will cut the soul-killing nausea for me in about a half hour and help reduce the headache a bit. Without the cola, the awful nausea would go on for at least six hours, making it impossible to do anything . My aunt (also not a big fan of cola) discovered this when she was so nauseated after surgery that she couldn’t even look at food ads, much less eat. One can of coca cola fixed her up.

I saw some coca cola syrup sold as an old-timey remedy for nausea – the essential ingredients may be real cola (from the cola but), some real sugar (the remedy had glucose, I think), and phosphoric acid – all of which are in regular coca cola.

Now root beer is something that I could drink every day if soda agreed with me. But fruity sodas and root beers can actually be diluted with cold water and that seems to enhance the taste as well as cut the carbonation if you’re sensitive. You can experiment until you find the dilution that maintains the taste for you. Sometimes even 1 part soda to 4 or 5 parts water works, although you can start with a lot less dilution. I use only non-diet because I can’t stand the taste of the artificial sweeteners (even Splenda) and am not fond of stevia either. Dilution doesn’t seem to work with cola, though, although you can try it for non-medicinal purposes.

You also can dilute fruit juice the same way. Fruit juice is only marginally better than soda, it’s mostly a huge shot of sugar. I always prefer it diluted at least 50:50 but protein powder also makes it palatable for me. I once had a project manager in hysterics when I told her I had tried protein powder in root beer to get through a deadline …. (Not bad, actually!)

I will use other caffeine sodas (fruity type) sometimes instead of coffee (which I don’t drink) to wake me up sometimes while on a deadline. About 40 or 50 mg of caffeine is enough for the effect for me, more than that (for example, excedrin or caffeine-equivalent containing energy tea or energy chews) is likely to make me wired. Two doses of excedrin in a day used to put me on the ceiling….

I don’t know about nausea but I reach out for coke once a day only if I’m feeling v sick or feverish. Meds somehow make my tongue dead so I need to eat spicy food or hot tea or coke to wake up my taste buds. Just plain water makes me wanna hurl when I’m sick. Note this is not a recommendation ahhaha.

Ginger Ale works great for nausea. But I agree, when you’re not feeling good, drinking some Coke really does help.

I don’t understand how anyone can drink diet soda. That fake bitter flavor is so disgusting.

    • FLORC says:

When I drank more soda the diet was all I could take. The original stuff had that bitter after taste. Yuck!

  48. Pink Elephant says:

What a confusing and joke-ready statement! I was under the impression that Khloe Kardashian’s dramatic weight loss was the result of increased coke consumption.

When did this a-moral buffalo become the voice of health concerns? Her weight has hardly changed over the 8 years she’s been shoved down our throats. What did she lose? 15 lbs? Not a lot when you start at 210. What a hypocrite…”I completely gave up soda and added giant buttpads and photoshop”

    • FLORC says:

15 pounds is a massive difference to amny people. It shouldn’t be belittled in a generalizing way because someone you don’t like is saying it.

      • 9 says:

My comment was in no way a generalization. I was very specific. I said 15 lbs is not a lot off of 210 and I was being kind because she is clearly more like 230…and I stand by what I said. You cannot see a real change when someone who is obese loses 15 lbs PERIOD. She sells her weight loss rhetoric constantly, and I maintain that she looks almost exactly the same as she did 4, 5, 6, and 7 years ago…that clear enough for ya?

  50. EN says:

I don’t drink soda or juice, didn’t have those while growing up.
But I do drink 10+ cups of hot tea a day, no sugar.
So, I guess it is realistic if you are not hooked on it in the first place.

But how much it contributes to the overall weight I am not sure.

One thing I am 100% sure is that US food is absolutely evil. I eat more overseas while visiting family and just chilling out (no working out at all) and I lose a couple pounds a week!

Did she have her nose thinned again? It certainly looks like it in those pictures, and it looks like she had her lips plumped again as well.

  52. Juluho says:

    Who’s face is she wearing?

  53. justagirl says:

Just a small quibble with the headline & article….she clearly stretches the truth and/or lies often, but I don’t see where she said she lost weight by only cutting out soda.

She actually said she made major cutbacks, mentioned cutting out soda as one of them, then said she introduces lifestyle changes one at a time, a month at a time, and those cutbacks slowly become new habits. None of that said ‘hey I only cut out soda & look at me’.

  54. korra says:

I don’t feel bad for drinking soda. Soda, diet or otherwise, won’t kill you. Too much of it will. I like diet soda for those days I need a kick of caffeine, but don’t want the calories. It has it’s place, but no one should be drinking it daily just like most junk food.

    She looks like OJ

  56. Sharon says:

I tell people this when they ask for suggestions on how to lose weight. Except I say ALL sugary drinks. I worked at a convenience store and would have customers say they were trying to stop drinking soda because of health concerns such as diabetes, so they opted for something like an Arizona Iced tea instead. That has the same amount (maybe even more) sugar than soda! I stopped drinking soda and alcohol for a while now (occasionally wine). I feel better than ever. Besides a morning cup of coffee, I drink water with all my meals and haven’t been craving anything else. Also, my skin has improved drastically (besides hormonal acne here and there). And yes, diet soda is just as bad. The aspartame in it is no good!

  57. qwerty says:

” I just made that like a lifestyle change. I’ll do like one thing, like, a month.”

    So eloquent.

  58. Cas says:

Please if you are going to drink soda, just indulge and make it the regular kind, diet soda is so, so bad for you! Another bonus is by drinking normal soda, you know you are doing something unhealthy so will hopefully drink it less often
