Recording of Britney Spears calling lawyer to end conservatorship

An audio recording of a voice mail left for a lawyer by a woman identifying herself as Britney Spears has surfaced on YouTube through the website jfxonline. It hasn’t been verified that the voice is Britney, but it definitely sounds like her. In the message, made in January, she says she’s trying to get out from under her father’s conservatorship, and also mentions that Jamie has threatened to take away her kids if she does so.

“Hi my name’s Britney Spears. I called you earlier. I’m calling again because I just wanted to make sure that during the process of eliminating the conservatorship that my father has threatened me several times, you know, he’ll take my children away.

I just want to be guaranteed that everything will be fine with the process of you guys taking care of everything that things will stay the same as far as my custodial time. That’s it, bye.”

The video was posted by Jordan Miller, the guy who used to run Britney’s biggest fan site, BreatheHeavy. Jamie Spears is in the process of having the site shut down, claiming copyright infringement. Thus, Miller had to post his story on another site, though he did link to it on BreatheHeavy. He’s been a vocal opponent of Britney’s conservatorship for months now, and says that Jamie is just using the copyright claims as an excuse to get the site shut down in order to keep Miller quiet. OK Magazine has the entire story.

While the recording does sound like it’s Britney, a few questions do come into play. From her phrasing she appears to be unsure of what’s going on in the legal process and unfamiliar with the lawyer. Perhaps that’s because she’s having him do things secretly so she can’t keep in touch with him often, but it strikes me as odd. Also, what kind of lawyer would release this call? If he really was acting on Britney’s behalf, then attorney/client privilege would have been violated. Of course it is possible – maybe even likely – that someone else who had access to the voicemail is the one who leaked the call.

No matter what, it seems like the crap’s about to hit the fan.

You’re absolutely, 100% correct that if he truly leaked this, he breached some serious attorney-client privilege and under those terms, can get into serious trouble, including, but not limited to being disbarred (should Ms. Spears decide to take action against that of course.) It also sullies the reputation, which is pretty important in an industry that just saw over 1000 associate layoffs in this year alone.

I mean, I don’t think her dad’s the best guy in the world, but I also don’t think she’s the sharpest tool right now. It’s a shame that neither her mom nor her dad really look like they care about her more than they care about her money.

I agree that Britney might still not be in the right frame of mind to deal with all these by herself but if her dad did indeed threaten her several times to take away her kids, then that is just WRONG in his part and that rises concerns that he is abusing his power as Britney’s minder an needs to be removed.

I am not sure it is her voice.

I’m all for Brit getting better and doing better with her life, but something is just off about her family.

I dont trust anyone these days (i.e doctors, lawyers, police). Everyone is trying to make a penny off leaking information to the media. As far as Britney, she’s doomed without her father. I feel sorry that she has to have someone to handle her business, but I still believe she is unstable to be on her own.

I wonder if it was more a cause of Jamie saying, “You get rid of this conservatorship and they’ll take your boys.” Because the only reason she has ANY visitation is because of that conservatorship. This is from MONTHS ago, so apparently things are better.

Also, this Jordan guy is BFFs with Sam Lufti – and they’re both still pissed Jamie managed to cut them out of her life.

I think that she isn’t ready to handle things on her own but that doesn’t mean that Jamie is doing what’s best for her. I am only in my early twenties and have yet to have children, but even I know that a real parent does not charge $18,000 a month to take care of his own child. To charge that amount to do what a parent should for his sick child is just ridiculous. It shows he’s about keeping her healthy enough to keep providing for the whole family and not making her healthy enough to handle her life on her own. The sad part is she can’t even hire a lawyer to fight this injustice, it will only end when he wants it to end.

i TOTALLY BELIEVE THIS..her dad is getting over 18000 a month and she pays for her office and secretary too. SHe pays Keven and her brother and her mother. WHY??? A 2 million divorce?? and then her dad threatens here because he may lose his meal ticket?
I think its time that Brit gets her rights back and her kids under the condition that those people who were in her life before are not allowed in it again. Her family are a pack of mooches and her dad is a bully..the free ride is over I hope

This was proved false a few months ago by E! Does every tabloid recycle the same crap?

  11. Lauren says:

I don’t understand why people are saying her dad should be doing this for free. While I realize that under normal circumstances a parent could run their childerns life and hold down a full time job but Jamie is handling someone with a multimillion dollar empire. $18,000 a month may seem like a lot of money but in reality if she were paying someone else to do the same thing that her dad is doing, they would probably be charging her more. I think that this whole story is fake though. It’s really no different than the one that came out a few months ago and that one was proven to be fake. I agree with Ryo, Jordan is just pissed because now he can’t get the inside scoop on things going on because Sam can’t have any contact with her. The way that he used to stand up for Sam on Breatheheavy and trash talk Jamie wasn’t right. There’s more to this story than what Jordan is telling us.

Also, her dad doesn’t have another job, does he? Right now, my hubby’s brother is on drugs, riding his bike down the center of Main St at 3am to get to his pimps house, calling people in Germany wanting to move in with them… Lost the THREE cars – 2 BMWs and a VW – as well as a beautiful 1920s home. His parents have lost every dime of their savings and retirement bailing him out of trouble. If her dad is putting his life and career on hold, he deserves to be paid for it.

  13. L says:

I really doubt that her father would be earning that much money IN A REGULAR JOB. If he has to quit his regular job to help her, he should be compensated for the loss of his earnings, which I bet would not equal anywhere near $18k/month. That really is a ridiculous amount of money.

It sounds like Brit… poor girl.

  14. sad says:

Sounds like she’s in a hurried whisper too. Probably made this call on that cell phone she smuggled in. I do feel partially sorry for her.
