It’s so weird to think about, but Adele hasn’t put out a studio album in FIVE YEARS. Seriously. She put out 21 in 2010. I think it feels like the Adele explosion happened just a few years ago because 21 had such staying power and people really were listening to it for years. Plus, Adele also had a massive success with her live album, Live at the Royal Albert Hall. And she won an Oscar for “Skyfall,” naturally. But after all of that, Adele really went dark. She stayed home with her baby, she enjoyed her marriage (??) to Simon, and she quietly worked on a new album. Some believed she would never put out new music. They were wrong! It’s now being confirmed: Adele’s new album will be coming out in November. OMG.

The long-awaited return of XL/Columbia’s Adele is slated for 11/20, and is naturally expected to have a seismic impact on the remainder of the year. Expect the leadoff single to drop in the first or second week of November. The forthcoming album is the last on Adele’s Sony/XL deal; insiders say she has already inked a new worldwide deal with Sony, said to be valued at more than $50 million.

The British superstar has inked a lockout deal with NBC for four big TV looks, including The Today Show, SNL, a prime-time special and one more appearance TBA (possibly Fallon). The exclusive deal will not, however, prevent Adele from appearing on the 2016 Grammys.

Adele’s 2011 set 21 has sold 11.1 million copies (13.5m+ with TEA) in the U.S. thus far, and more than 30m worldwide.

$50 million for a new deal?! That’s crazy. Crazy-amazing. I also love that Adele is coming to play, and that she’s already organized her takeover. I wonder what NBC had to promise to Adele to get her to sign up for those exclusive appearances. I would imagine that she can pretty much get anything she wants. The negotiations were like, “I want this and this and this,” and NBC was like, “YES, OF COURSE.” In any case… YAY MOAR ADELE.
