Brooks Ayers apologizes for faking documents, won’t admit faking cancer

This whole Brooks Ayers story is somewhat confusing and we only covered it yesterday when it reached a head, so you’ll excuse me if I recap more than necessary. During the most recent season of the Real Housewives of The OC, Vicki Gunvalson’s now ex-boyfriend, Brooks Ayers, claimed to be battling Non-Hodkin’s Lymphoma. Multiple castmembers doubted Ayers’s story, including Viki’s own daughter, Briana (who also claimed Brooks tried to hit on her when she was pregnant, which Vicki refused to believe), but Brooks stuck to his guns. Brooks even gave an interview to E! News insisting that his cancer diagnosis was real and offering chemotherapy bills as supposed proof. Earlier this week, E! confirmed what everyone was suspecting and revealed that Brooks had not received treatment at the facility whose bills he offered as proof. Now, Brooks has apologized, sort of. He admitted that he faked the bills but it sounds like he’s still insisting he had cancer. What?!

“Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to ‘prove’ to the world that I, in fact, have cancer. What I did was wrong and inexcusable. I acted alone, without Vicki [Gunvalson]’s knowledge, to produce documents for a reality TV show in hopes of putting doubts about my cancer to rest,” Ayers told E! News in an exclusive statement Wednesday. “I never intended to disclose my actual medical records or details about my private and personal medical history, thus the rationalization of presenting documents that weren’t true simply for a ‘storyline’ for the show.”

“From this day forward, my own personal journey with this disease will remain private as I initially intended over a year ago,” Ayers continued. “My sincerest apologies to my family, friends, loved ones, and those who are battling this horrid disease for any additional pain and/or stress that I have caused. As [University of Louisville basketball coach] Rick Pitino once said, ‘Mistakes can be good. They are fertilizer. Everything I’ve learned about coaching [life], I’ve learned from making mistakes.’ I made a mistake yet I have learned a huge lesson as well.”

Brooks bombshell revelation comes on the heels of E! News exclusive interview last week during which he continued to promise his cancer story was true.

“Absolutely I’m sticking by that,” Ayers shared with us when confirming his cancer battle. “Unfortunately, I wish it wasn’t true. It would be a lot easier if I didn’t have cancer just to be honest with you. The daily grind, the routines of reminding yourself that I’m sick and I need to do certain things and not do certain things.”

Brooks even went as far as providing fake documents to try to prove that he had undergone chemotherapy.

[From E! Online]

So he’s saying that he’s sorry he faked the documents to prove his cancer, but he’s not admitting he doesn’t have cancer or actually faked the cancer, he’s just saying he’ll keep his medical stuff “private.” And he’s insinuating that he submitted fake documents because he doesn’t want the real truth known. That he has cancer? That makes no sense whatsoever. The truth is that HE’S A LYING LIAR. (Link NSFW due to swearing.)

Meanwhile Vicki Gunvalson spoke to Extra about how she’s feeling now that she finally has to face the fact that Brooks was lying all along, as everyone was telling her. (My words.) Vicki claimed that she was “completely shocked” and that she went to the facility that denied treating Brooks, City of Hope, with him and that “He was there all morning so how do you think anything other than he’s getting chemo?

Vicki swears she wasn’t in on it at all and that she bought Brooks’s act. She said “I’m guilty of loving him and believing him. Who hasn’t believed someone that you loved? And why would you lie about cancer when I’ve had three friends die of it in the last two years? I had my dearest friend just die of stomach cancer… My life is so abundant, I didn’t need to make a fake storyline, and I sure as hell wouldn’t make it up about Brooks… As God as my witness, I would never want to make something up like this; it’s actually quite sick.” I believe her. I mean she sounds like an idiot for dating this guy and buying it, but I believe she didn’t know. She said that “Karma” would get Brooks and that “I hate him with everything in me, and I don’t hate people, but I believed him, I trusted him, I defended him, took a bullet for him.” This lady should get a lot of therapy before she starts dating again because her douche meter is not only broken, it’s giving her opposite readings.

E! Online called out Vicki following her Extra! interview. They think she’s lying through her teeth, just like Brooks. They note how many times Vicki lied for Brooks, along with the fact that she promoted “detox” juices and claimed that they helped Brooks.

Vicki is absolutely lying. Maybe she thought in the beginning he did, but she was so defensive and she lied herself on the show way too many times. Sometimes she did go to his appts, sometimes she didn’t, he was sick all night and she had to call Heather’s husband but Heather says that never happened, he was apparently flying off on business with stage 3 cancer while receiving chemo. I think she got in way too deep and helped him lie and then in the end, he dumped her because he knew all this shit was about to come to a head and he would look like giant asshole.

My cousin’s wife was going sky diving and to Disneyland w/ stage 4 stomach cancer, liver cancer, and I can’t remember the other one.

Of course her cancer was FAKE but hey whatever. I like to call it her Faux-Cancer

  2. Abbott says:

I don’t believe she didn’t know. She too much of a control freak to not be up in his medical care. Plus, what the hell was in that medical binder she was keeping?

Everyone at Bravo and on this show are laughing all the way to the bank. His alleged diagnosis gave everyone a storyline this past season and continues to generate controversy and publicity now that the season has ended. This aging, stale show will be renewed for at least another year, giving the “housewives” and their hangers-on more opportunities to shill more crap at sheeple. SMH…

  4. Jenni says:

It’s a mess. I’m wondering if that situation is going to affect the new season of RHOBH. Is bravo going to re-edit the show like they did after Russell death? So many questions. Yolanda you are in danger gurl!

  5. Talie says:

I believe Tamra on this one…she thinks Vicki knew and decided to go along with it to help repair his reputation. She didn’t count on Meghan knowing so much about cancer due to her familial circumstances this season.

I can only stand to watch this show when I’m high (medical MJ in my state and it’s awesome!), and even then I can’t deal with this set of housewives because of Vicky. She is constantly badgering the other women about their finances and gives any of the ‘housewives’ who don’t earn their own money a ridiculously hard time about it when it is none of her business. She’s a terribly rude woman and this brooks dude is an awful man.

I also work for a cancer center and have to say faking cancer is a difficult thing to do as there is an endless stream of records of which Vicky would have had access to if she was listed as his emergency contact/significant other. For the severity of NHL he is claiming there is lots of imaging, constant labs, and often debilitating rounds of chemo that have very obvious effects on ones appearance. If this a-hole did have cancer it’d be easy to prove. Bunch of lying pricks.

I haven’t watched any of the Housewives in several seasons because they all just got so boring, but for a while, BH, OC, and NYC were great reality TV. I will admit I loved watching that hot mess Gretchen Rossi, and her story line of trying to scam that poor Kenny Rogers look alike out of his millions, although it turned out he was in debt up to his eyeballs. Anyway, Vicki talked a lot of trash about her ex, Don, but he seemed to be a pretty decent guy, at least on TV. Granted, he was boring, but at least he wasn’t a scam artist. He seemed to have his own money and life. And he was pretty good about letting Vicki cry all over national television about how he could never fill her love tank (her love tank pillow talk grossed me out).

Yeah I used to like the RH shows, particularly Orange County and New Jersey. I know parts were always exaggerated or scripted but now they have just gotten to the point where you know nothing at all is real and that’s actually very boring. Might as well watch a soap then.

    LOL at quoting Ric Pitino.

  9. My two cents says:

I’m sure Vicki’s ex, Don, is sitting somewhere laughing hysterically. I wouldn’t put it past the whole cast and producers being in on this story line and exposure. It made for a story people are still talking about. That’s all Andy and Bravo cares about. They all thrive on destroying one character per season. The whole housewives franchise is built on lies. Most of them that claim to be rich are far from even being able to pay their bills. Classic example is everyone on New Jersey show.

    Tamra is the worst

I beleive Vicky did indeed know he was lying and aided and abetted him. She not only stuck up for him, but was involved with the fake “bills”, supposed treatements, and alot more. She did it for a story line bc regardless of what she claims, her life is not full. She has nothing interesting going on and nobody who wants to date her loud immature arse. Her daughter told her numerous times Brook’s story was shady, but Vicky just got mad at her. She is a liar and what a horrible thing to fake. I don’t watch that show anymore because of her and Tamra. Both a couple of lying, shady, throwing others under the bus, then boo-hooing, overly botoxed women. Can’t stand either of them. Wish they would fade away.

  12. Holmes says:

I have no idea who any of these people are, so I’m not even sure why I clicked on this story. Perhaps because I currently have a family member undergoing chemo, and I cant fathom in what universe someone would actually LIE about this.

He appears to be a healthy weight, with color in his face and the ability to grow hair. People taking chemo do not look like this, and the chemo regimen for NHL is known to be one of the most brutal of all. There is NO WAY he would be flying anywhere, or even getting out of bed. Is this woman utterly daft???
