Octomom says Angels in Waiting already had foster moms lined up for babies

This past week In Touch wrote an insanely unflattering article about Nadya Suleman. Even as Octomom articles go, this was extremely harsh. They repeatedly called her crazy and quoted neighbors who called her a freak. They had intro sentences that started like this, “It’s not enough that Nadya may be wacky, desperate for attention and self-centered….” You get the point. Suleman is understandably upset, and says that the article is entirely wrong, and that she’s planning on suing.

I might. For defamation of character. Cause all of it is lies. All of it. Not even 99%. One hundred percent of it is lies.

I can’t imagine any mom would be okay with someone talking about them the way In Touch talked about Nadya. And we’re not just talking about harsh quotes from other people, but the magazine’s own opinion that she’s “crazy” and “wacky” – and let’s not forget the cover, which asked if she was the “Mom from Hell?”

In Touch also quotes Gloria Allred saying that the octuplets should not be left in Nadya’s care.

But Allred thinks it would be a travesty for the octuplets to remain in Nadya’s care. “We are seriously concerned for the welfare of the children, for their health and safety,” she tells In Touch. Adds [Angels in Waiting founder Linda] West-Conforti: “We can only hope and pray that Nadya gets the psychological and emotional help she so desperately needs. And may God protect these children.”

[From In Touch, April 13, 2009, print ed.]

Nadya says that Angels in Waiting had it out for her from the beginning. They had licensed foster parents lined up before they even started caring for her children, all in an attempt to follow their belief that she shouldn’t have them. According to Suleman, they didn’t even give her a chance; they’d already come to their conclusion before meeting her.

Nadya: It was a scam to begin with. They are licensed foster moms and they had the foster moms lined up already for the babies. For each baby, where they’d go. And they would actually like set up the home, like dirty diapers and bottles on the ground, and take pictures of that, pretending that that was real.

Reporter: At your home?

Nadya: At my home. Before I even got to the house… they were documenting lies… they had foster parents already lined up, and then they would have claimed that I abandoned the babies, and they would have taken them. I know that. All my nannies can verify it, people at the Kaiser [hospital] can verify that. The doctor, the social workers… They [Angels in Waiting] also said to me – they said to everyone – that if they don’t get enough “donations” they’re going to bill Medi-Cal. They already get money through Medi-Cal by the way. And they’re lying to everyone saying that this [the childcare they offered Suleman] is free. Yeah, free if the public pays for it. Free if they bill Medi-Cal, then it’s free. So I refused to be any part of it.

[From YouTube video]

Nadya says they were trying to convince her to let them take the babies (ostensibly with their foster moms) and told her she could go back to school or go do whatever she wanted, and that she could just visit them on weekends. When you watch the video, it’s clear she’s upset, but she doesn’t appear irrational. And Gloria Allred and Angels in Waiting made it very clear in the In Touch article that they don’t think Nadya should have her kids. It doesn’t sound impossible that they had foster parents lined up.

While I generally don’t have a lot of sympathy for Nadya, in this case I do, because she at least deserves a chance to take care of her own babies. If foster care proves to be the best option for them, then so be it. I don’t think they should stay with her no matter what. But it seems like Gloria Allred and Angels in Waiting were so hell-bent in their conviction that Nadya should be punished for all her poor decisions, and the best way to do that is to take away her kids. The babies should only be taken away if that’s what’s in their best interest.

At this point Nadya is like the boy who cried wolf. If all this is true – and for some gut reason I think it might be – no one’s going to believe her. She has made so many mistakes and said so many things that turned out to be untrue. But I really hope Angels in Waiting responds to her allegations, so we can find out if they already had new homes lined up for the octuplets.

I stopped reading after three words … “Nadya Suleman says,” … : )

  2. aleach says:

for some ODD reason, the more i read the comments from AIW the more i do kind of feel bad for nadya.
i mean, these are her CHILDREN. no matter how they were made or how many of them theyre are or whos paying for them. i dont agree with really anything that shes doing, but her kids arent being abused (from what we see), they have a home (hopefully this one lasts) & have food to eat.
i wish she would just shut up & go away & take care of her family, but that just might be asking too much, huh? lol.

If she sues In Touch and wins, then I assume she’d use the money to pay her hospital bill?

  4. TaylorB says:

“Yeah, free if the public pays for it. Free if they bill Medi-Cal, then it’s free. So I refused to be any part of it.”

Correct me if I am wrong here but isn’t Medi-Cal already footing the million+ (and growing) hospital bill for the birth and NICU care, the nurses from Kaiser that are training the nannys, etc? I fail to see how she is ‘refusing’ to be a part of Medical, she is knee deep in it.

Not to be judgemental but this woman confounds me, she certainly seems to love her children, but her habitual lying and giving one interview after another about how she doesn’t want to be in the public eye and do interviews certainly gives one pause.

I don’t know who exactly to believe, but, it’s been proven that Suleman has lied in the past. Do we have any proof that AIW has been lying other than what Suleman has said?

  6. Feebee says:

I think she may be a little crazy but I too have some sympathy with her situation with AIW. They and Gloria Allred (who’s almost equally as crazy) used public pressure to get into Suleman’s home under the guise of wanting to help. I don’t believe this is really wahat they wanted to do and as repugnant Suleman may seem, they are her kids and until she does something to warrant it no-one has a right to assume the kids should be removed.

Honestly, people believe this stuff about them having foster moms lined up and waiting?

If that’s true, why isn’t Nadya pursuing this with legal action? She could claim some serious emotional suffering from dealing with the fact that the very people who offered to care for her children were plotting to TAKE them from her.

But I’ll tell you why she’s not pursuing this legally (which would potentially mean ka-ching): it’s not true. I’ve noticed girlfriend’s got a serious little paranoid bent to her personality and this fits right in there.

I’m not saying Angels in Waiting had 100% pure motives, but I really doubt they had foster parents already lined up.

Gah, I was going to boycott this crazy wench.

Honest to God, does anyone else not find the way she speaks truly weird? Her little high-pitched baby voice and her strange mannerisms? She always seems super nervous. You’d think she’d be really used to the camera after daily video interviews for so long.

Just wish she’d go the hell away.

I agree that Nadya Suleman had made a huge mistake by spiting out so many kids while she had no financial stability to take care of them. However, if what Angels in Waiting did turns out to be true, then they have no right to take the kids away from their mother like that and what they choose to do can be proven very damaging to everyone involved. Nadya does not seem like the most reasonable person in the world but seems to love her kids and other then the financial issue, she seems to take care of them well enough. Besides, with all this publicity, Nadya, presumable, has made a good amount of money to take care of them better herself.

  9. Tia C says:

I don’t believe a thing that Nadya Suleman says. Not one thing. She is completely out of her mind batsh*t crazy. Isn’t that obvious?? Of course Angels in Waiting had foster parents lined up, they would’ve been irresponsible not to – just in case. It’s not like it’s a plot against her. She needs to have ALL those kids taken away, placed in permanent foster homes, get her tubes tied, and seek the mental health help that she desperately needs.

  10. the original kate says:

so let me see if i get this straight: it was AIW who “set up” photo shots of her house before she even moved in (!)to make her look bad. and it is AIW who is billing medi-cal, not nadya. and it’s nadya’s mother’s fault, and dr phil’s fault, and it’s the tabloids’ fault, etc, ad naseum. so it’s everyone’s fault but nadya’s, is it? that seems to be a common refrain from her. i have little sympathy for this crazy bitch. she is using those kids as stepping stones to famewhoredom…14 stepping stones that the tax payers of CA are paying for.

  11. Annicka says:

There is no report about this woman that could make me feel bad for her. Even if what’s said isn’t true, I have absolutely zero remorse for Nadya. I think she’s a monster, and I believe it really is in the best interests of the babies that they go to foster homes. Even with help, this woman has 14 children. That’s 14 children who are going to grow up without the individual love and attention that a smaller number of children would have. She’s despicable.

  12. tasteT says:

hmmm, what difference does it make if they had foster parents lined up she still has her kids..big damn deal…

She is crazy and anyone that does not notice it or beleive it, just watch..

see eventually the cameras will go away, and we’ll see the REAL octopussy mom..Her older kids will be truant because she needs the help w/all of those other children. She’ll run everyone away being pretenious and self centered.

The point that she mentioned working 16 hr days to prepare for all of her procedures and how she saved, saved, saved (she was not even making 30 a yr)
Just lets me know to sit back and watch..The cost of birthing a baby is HUGE soooo who paid for the other births.(from the 6)

I say keep foster families on stand by..who the heck is it hurting??

she is crazy and anyone that denies it and is all for a mentally unstable, needy/con artist/untruthful chick raising 14 kids, is just as crazy and pretenious as she is.

  13. kim says:

Well the hospital has released all the kids so apparently their nurses social workers etc approve of her situation

  14. L says:

I saw an interview with her former publicist (or someone like that) who had quit because he thinks she is nuts. he seemed like a rational fellow and even he said that YES, she is nuts, **BUT** AIW were pulling a dodgy on nadya, and treating her horribly in her own home.

Not to defend her or anything, but there a lots of people out there who would rather take advantage of the mentally ill instead of help them, and I get this same feeling from AIW… it all sounds a bit strange to me… and just because somebody has a history of lying does not mean that they don’t ever tell the truth – look at the little boy who cried wolf. before the wolf ate him, he was telling the truth! Yes it was wrong of him to lie, but maybe if every1 gave him the benefit of the doubt he wouldn’t have been eaten 😛 Maybe instead of letting his punishment be getting eaten by a lion, they could just help him see that lying is stupid?

  15. L says:

I mean, eaten by a wolf. whoops lol. its late & im not with it.

  16. Wow says:

I believe Octo on this. AIW & Gloria seem way too obessed about this woman’s life and kids. Its too an extreme, almost cultish.

  17. TaylorB says:

I read quite a few people, not just here, have written that she simply made a ‘mistake’ and that she should be given a break as we all make ‘mistakes’, which is true to a certain extent, but to be frank that moniker does not hold true to this situation. An ‘mistake’ would be relying on ‘pulling out’ or prayer as a form of birth control and ending up pregnant, she on the other hand made a specific and costly (@ 10 grand a shot) choice six times over eight years to intentionally impregnate herself while she was unemployed, living off her parents, food stamps, and government assistance for three of her children with varying levels of disabilites. I feel sure that the money (student loans she took out, at least in part, and money from disability because her back injury is so bad she can not work, which begs the question HOW could she physically carry so many pregs over 8 years, esp the twins and the octuplets, but that is neither here nor there) she used to keep producing babies could have been better used taking care of the ones she already had and setting up savings/college/medical funds or since they were technically student loans going back to school was a wise choice.

  18. Codzilla says:

She’s proven herself a liar over and over again, so why would this situation be any different? What a mess.

  19. SixxKitty says:

I am yet to see her with any of her children, she is always out alone… speaks volumes.

  20. barneslr says:

I certainly hope they have foster parents/adoptive parents lined up. She cannot be allowed to let her insanity ruin the lives of those innocent babies. They deserve parents who don’t belong in a mental facilty. And I mean all 14, not just the infants.
