Miley Cyrus says boyfriend Justin Gaston has brought her ‘closer to the Lord’

Miley Cyrus is out promoting her new Hannah Montana film, and she stopped by The Rachel Ray Show. Rachel Ray and Miley Cyrus… together. It’s like the worst meeting of the minds, ever. Anyhoo, Miley told Rachel that she’s “never been closer to the Lord” since she met her 20-year-old boyfriend Justin Gaston. Miley says that Justin “really made me read my Bible. He’s made me actually read the stories in the Bible — not the quick little verses — that not only help me, but show you how to help other people.”

Before we get to the snark, let me just say I’m not opposed to reading the Bible, studying the Bible, talking about faith and the meaning of God’s word. It’s when people start screaming, “God says that we should burn all gay people!” and “God says we must smite the whores!” that I get peeved. So Miley believes in God, and she studies her Bible. Good for her. But the whole idea of a 16-year-old who prances around semi-nude – and who dates a 20-year-old “underwear model” poseur – talking about her Bible studies with her boyfriend, there’s just something wrong.

Miley Cyrus says she is holier thanks to hottie Justin Gaston.

“I’ve never been closer to the Lord since I met him,” she says on The Rachel Ray Show in an interview airing Friday. “He’s really made me read my Bible. He’s made me actually read the stories in the Bible — not the quick little verses — that not only help me, but show you how to help other people.”

She says she wasn’t wild when her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, introduced her to him on the Hannah Montana set.

“Honestly, I didn’t like him at first,” Miley, 16, says of the 20-year-old underwear model and singer. “I was like, ‘Great, another song writer. This should be fun.'”

Now, she says she realizes “he’s, like, the coolest guy, so it’s good.”

“He’s very cute,” she gushes, “but I don’t think he gets as much credit as he should because he’s a really good guy.”

In more Miley news, the singer says she also just learned how to color her hair.

“I’m going to save so much money, you have no idea!” she tells Ray. “I’m pretty proud of myself. Dude, if it’s going to be between $8 and $800 … it’s a good idea.”

[From US Magazine]

She’s already coloring her hair? I don’t color my hair, and I’ve had some premature gray since I was twenty years old. I suppose it’s great that she’s learned to dye her own hair – everyone’s pinching pennies these days, even Disney’s billion-dollar-baby. But it’s doing your own highlights that’s the real problem. In college, I did my roommate’s highlights constantly. I got really good at it, too. If Miley wants some tips, I’m here.

Here’s Miley leaving the Peninsula Hotel in New York surrounded by cheering fans and photographers yesterday. Images thanks to WENN.com .

Is this a joke? He’s a 20 year old underwear model who’s banging a 15 (now 16) yr old. Seriously? Does he know the Lord hates men who touch little kids in their christian places?

  2. Annie says:

I don’t think screaming “Oh God! Yes!” counts as being “closer to the Lord”.

Yo, Jesus is so cool !

Who knew Trent Reznor and Miley Cyrus had so much in common?

I just want to point out how the cross is perfectly nestled between her cleavage in the header picture. I’m doing that on my way to church tonight.

  8. jennifer says:

Annie – exactly what I was thinking LOL

re: hair dye – I have not had my natural hair colour since I was 14 LOL. I think dyeing her hair is a much more acceptable activity for someone her age then, say, taking nudie pics of herself & posting them online. ;P

  9. Miss Wanderlust says:

Interesting. I’m 44, Christian and graduated from a Christian college, and live in the Bible belt in the deep south. Despite all of that I have never, ever–not one time–ever heard a Christian say or imply anything remotely similar to those things. The strongest I’ve heard was along the lines of “love the sinner, but hate the sin.”

I often read about the outrage people have against Christians saying hateful things…but I’ve never actually heard a Christian say a hateful thing. I really wonder where all these wild-eyed Bible thumping fanatics are? I would think with my background I would have come across at least one of them.

Just makes me wonder how much is real and how much is simply anti-religion Christian bashing.

  14. barneslr says:

adding to my above post-I understand that there are fanatics and looney tunes across all religions, so I’m sure there are a few who pretend to be Christian while actually spouting hatred, which is completely anti-Christian. I surely hope that people generally recognize a nut job for what s/he is without assuming all people who belong to the religion in question actually think the way they do.

  15. Joe says:

Im sure he brings her closer to god… all night long.

How do you know this exactly…oh, yeah because she said so.
Everyone knows she always tells the truth.

  19. Grandizer says:

That is why Orgasms are called little deaths…

After this statement, I can see other chicks hitting him up to take them there as well…

Miley will be looking for a new “provider” in a few weeks…

    @barneslr
Really? Because if that’s true, that you’ve never heard the stuff Kaiser is talking about, I’d like to direct you towards Fred Phelps. And the south. I’ve lived in the South for a loooong time, and being a bisexual atheist I can tell you that yes, I’ve totally heard that stuff. They just don’t say it to their own.
This is obviously not what all Christians are like, or even most, but it seems naive to assume this type of person doesn’t exist.

  21. Ophelia says:

Crap, I didn’t see your amended post after. Sorry, should have read closer. But in addition, there are about as many Christian bashers as there are Fred Phelps-types. They are both uncommon, to an extent. I’m personally neither. I think as long as nobody hurts anyone over their religion, it doesn’t matter what they believe, they have every right to believe it. Anyway, sorry I didn’t catch the other post before typing that out!

  22. Hieronymus Grex says:

I’m sure she spends plenty of time on her knees.

  23. sarcra says:

    @Ophelia
Oh my goodness, Fred Phelps is a hateful, hateful person, he and his “church” are the antithesis of what Christ followers should be. Horrible.

  24. mike says:

    Oh PLLLEEEEAAAAZZZZZ!!!!

I love how all those Conservative Christians disown the “bad” Christians by saying they are not real Christians. A “good” Christian isn’t like that.

Funny, then, that these “good” Christians don’t believe Muslims who say the terrorists and terror bombers are not “real” Muslims either …

P.S. What about all those priests who sexually molested kids and their superiors who turned the blind eye? If all those people are not “real” Christians, then there must be a lot of fake Christians in the Roman Catholic Church, since many priests who only protected the pedophiles but didn’t molest stayed within the Church. A lot of these enablers were simply moved out of the US by the Vatican to elsewhere.

  25. sarcra says:

    Mike:

“Funny, then, that these “good” Christians don’t believe Muslims who say the terrorists and terror bombers are not “real” Muslims either …”

You are generalizing all Christians into one stereotype/category/whatever, which is irrational and unfounded. We are NOT all like that.

As for your first comment, just because some people call themselves Christians, it doesn’t mean they really are. It’s not always just “bad Christians.” Sometimes, they are really not in line with the Word at all.

All that said, I’m done with this discussion.

  27. JaundiceMachine says:

To borrow a phrase from Michael K – I think I just sprained my eyeball over this Miley f*ckery.

    Ps. – New. Life. Church.
I do believe most Christians are kind, “live and let live” folks – but if Jesus Christ was my personal savior, I’d petition the crap out of these freaks until they stop championing themselves as the Heavenly spokespiece for Morality.

Corporations like the New Life Church are why Christianity is getting such a bad rap. They spout hatred and bigotry in the Name of God – but no one of Faith calls them on it. Acquiescence towards the lowest common denominator is a form of compliance, I guess.

  28. Dude Manbro says:

I assume “the Lord” is his pet name for his penis.

  29. czarina says:

@Mike–There are over a billion Catholics world-wide. There are thousands of priests (bishops, arch-bishops, etc.) While there can never be excuses for abuse or covering up abuse, that hardly indicts every priest or the entire church as being guilty of either of those crimes.
There are many, many priests who are devout, moral and ethical.
Of course most Muslims are not terrorists.
Frankly, Mike, you sound as angry, judgemental and intolerant the those “bad conservative Christians” you think are everywhere in every church.

  30. idkwhattowritehere says:

again- why is it so hard for you to believe? yeah i do believe her. why would you assume she is lying? and if you say because of her “scandalous” pics that leaked, dont even go there. shes not perfect. are you? she was like 13 when she took those. give her a break. it doesnt make her a lying whore.

  31. drm says:

  35. raunnie says:

If Miley is so in touch with the Bible and Jesus & all that, then why is she torturing her poor little dog? Isn’t there something in this book about animal cruelty? If not, then Peta, not Justin Gaston, should be on her ass!

  36. Miley-lover says:
