Tom Hardy & Leonardo DiCaprio do a BAFTA screening for ‘The Revenant’

You know it’s a good day when there are new photos of the bloke, Tom Hardy. These are pics from a BAFTA screening/photocall for The Revenant in London today. Tom was severely underdressed for it, especially compared to Leonardo DiCaprio.

Tom didn’t even show up to the Moet British Independent Film Awards last night and he still won Best Actor for Legend. I’ve gotten some Twitter queries from some of you wondering if Tom is going to be a major awards contender this year, specifically for Legend. My thought? If Tom is going to be nominated this year, it will be for Best Supporting Actor for The Revenant. The reviews for Legend weren’t great, and most people think he was just the best part of a mediocre movie. I also think it’s more than possible Tom will be attending some big awards shows to support Mad Max: Fury Road, which is looking more and more like a major Best Picture contender.

While Leo’s Oscar bid and Oscar “win” seems all but inevitable these days, I would like to see the studio put a little money into an Oscar campaign for Tom. I doubt he’s into it though. But just look at the two of them together!!! Leo needs a bro to hang out with during the awards season. The last time he was nominated, he had Jonah Hill. The Bloke is the New Jonah Hill.

Oh wow My Hardy looks really sexy here. I normally abhor that *Bad Boy Style* that always comes across as forced to me, but with him it seems real.

Such a yummy and talented dude he is…

    • dee says:

Omg I know! Tom is so hot! And actually in the picture where he’s smiling at tom, Leo doesn’t look to bad either! Definitely not hot, but normal- looking.

    • LadyMTL says:

Kitten, I’m right there with you. I normally eye-roll when I see guys who act like they’re such “bad-boys”, but with Tom Hardy I make an exception. That last pic especially, with his hair all mussed and such. Yummmmm!

      • Mendy says:

At first I was with you- hot!! But then I thought about if he was my man- I’d be like, put on a jacket and comb your hair! This is your job.

    • kri says:

Oh, Mr.Hardy. I do love you so. Sigh. I hope he gets a nom.

  2. ell says:

i don’t find tom hardy that attractive, but i’m a big fan. he’s so good.

    • Die Zicke says:

I’m in the same boat. I think he’s a good actor, but lookwise, I just kind of think he looks like he really needs a shower.

I used to really dislike him as a person because the whole ‘working class bloke’ persona seemed so fake. I still think it is really fake, but I’m ok with him now for the most part.

  3. Jessica says:

Am I the only one who did not like Mad Max: Fury Road?

The practical effects were good, but there was no character development which meant that I gave no craps about the action because I did not care about who lived or died. There were no stakes for me because I didn’t care about any of the characters because they were so underdeveloped.

    • ell says:

no character development? you have those girls running away, a baddie reforming himself, and both the furiosa and max character trying to atone and deal with their demons (which they do).

      • Jessica says:

They set up Furiosa’s connection to her birth place 5 minutes before paying it off and never really explained why or how she got to be where she was. When she found out her homeland was desert now and she got upset, I didn’t care because they only told me about that 5 minutes prior. And why did she care about helping the girls escape other than the fact that she is female and the girls were female? You mentioned Furiosa was dealing with her demons… what were her demons? Nicolas Hoult’s character… what was he? Why did he randomly decide to help Furiosa, Max, and the girls? Why did that one girl fall in love with Hoult’s character after seeing him for all of 5 seconds? Why did the pale white people need blood transfusions? What are they and how are they different from the other people in that town? Why was there randomly tension between Lisa Bonet’s daughter and the pregnant one that was never mentioned again or paid off?

I cannot believe you are comparing the Bloke to Jonah Hill, Kaiser. JH is not even a blip in the Bloke’s rear view mirror. I would absolutely love it if the Bloke continues with his low key red carpets, and then literally wipes the floor with smug-face DiCaprio at ALL the awards, if he can be arsed to turn up of course. After all, when you are an immensely talented actor, you really don’t need the paltry accolades that lesser players seem to thirst after.

  5. aims says:

I think there’s a bromance between those two.

  6. NUTBALLS says:

I only want snaps of The Bloke with dogs. Or when he talks, since you just don’t know what’ll come out of his gob.

Everything I’m hearing about The Revenant has me salivating to see it… the cinematography sounds like it may be a lock for the big awards. If there’s any year that Leo gets his statue, it’ll probably be this one, methinks.

  7. mindydopple says:

I wonder if Leo is annoyed or entertained at Hardy’s lack of effort? Is he a little jealous of how genuine it is? Or is he annoyed he isn’t trying more and wants every little bit of help for this oscar campaign ?

    • isabelle says:

If anything Tom probably steals the spotlight from Leo. When those two are together its Tom I want to listen to and look at in the interview.

  8. Marty says:

    Touché Mr. Hardy.

  9. Bridget says:

I don’t know if I’d say that Leo’s win is inevitable this year. It’s still a little early in the game – I feel like we’ll have a better idea when we see who gets the last couple of nominations on the men’s side. I can picture Cranston or Damon putting forth a real charm offensive, which I think Leo’s going to have a hard time countering with. Too bad the men’s side is so weak this year. Granted, Leo’s currently the frontrunner just by default.

    • Jegede says:

I actually think Leo might be the only one of the potential nominees who makes a film that audience actually watches.
(See Bradley Cooper : American Sniper).

Jobs was a flop, The Danish girl was limited e.t.c

And Leo has actually not done anything out of the ordinary for a movie promo that he’s being considered a frontrunner.
He’s not dominating mag covers, he does not have any PBS specials, he was not even a part of the Oscar Roundtable.

If its that he’s doing most of the campaigning behind the scenes then so must a few of the other contenders.

      • Pondering thoughts says:

Yep, if Leo is campaigning then it is a very subtle campaign. I just would like to know how “campaigning behind the scenes” does work.

  10. isabelle says:

Hardy is underdressed but he is the one I’m looking at. Bet you can smell his testosterone when you get close enough hehe.

  11. Tiffany says:

Nope. He does not give 2 shucks and I find it unacceptable. You are paid millions of dollars and promotion is part of it. Put on a damn jacket and look like you took an effort. This is not bloke, this is a-hole. I just cannot believe the pass this clown gets.

    • FingerBinger says:

Tom gets a pass now but the tide will turn on him. It always does.

    • Pondering thoughts says:

      Relax.
Leo merely throws himself into a suit for all things promotional. Any other time he dresses like a teenage anti-fashion slob. He went to dinner with his girlfriend with a rip in his cargo shorts backside-wise. He got out of his big expensive shiny car and there was a rip in his cargo shorts. That says it all, doesn’t it?

      As for Hardy:
Well, to some point he is right: it is about the movie and not about his fashion style. And his fashion style did certainly create some waves and blubbering. Good for the movie.
I bet on the red carpet Hardy will wear his suit again.

    • Pondering thoughts says:

Though it is astonishing. Usually actors have stylists and all sorts of aides who help them pick the right clothes and events and interviewers.
Interestingly Hardy’s aides seem to have failed? Or is it that his wife is currently busy with the baby that she can’t have check on how her dear husband is dressed when leaving the house?

  12. Miss Grace Jones says:

This movie looks completely uninteresting to me and like a typical by the numbers Oscar vehicle and Leo’s extremely pathetic thirst makes me want him to not win because his despetaye IM ACTING throws me off but I hope Tom wins. He’s one of my favourites.

  13. a.d. says:

if tom’s new ink on his left bicep is any indication, he & charlotte had a little girl named ‘marlow’… (lucky damn woman, that charlotte….)

  14. Nudie says:

Tom is a great actor but I can’t enjoy that bad boy thing. He looks like he hasn’t taken a shower in a month – always. Leo looks dapper. I can’t get over how much Charlotte looks like his previous partner with whom he had a baby.
