Blake Shelton wants girlfriend Gwen Stefani to stay on ‘The Voice’ next season

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are still together. Just in case you’ve missed the millions of NBC-approved stories about them, they are still very much together and “hot” and “flirty” and “having a good time.” For what it’s worth, I believe that their romance is real. I just believe that their real romance has corporate sponsorship. The photo above comes from Gwen’s social media, but it was taken on the set of The Voice, while they were doing official photos. Incidentally, they were also photographed being all kissy and grabby with each other a few nights ago – go here to see the photos.

If I worked for NBC, I would be all over this, encouraging them to be even more coupled-up, encouraging them to show their love on The Voice (it’s apparently been great for ratings). Unfortunately for NBC, Gwen’s tenure on The Voice is coming to an end – she’s only on the show temporarily, and then Christina Aguilera is coming back. And now Blake is saying something about it.

It is usually a contestant that Blake Shelton doesn’t want to send home from The Voice but this time, it’s his girlfriend Gwen Stefani. In an interview with Extra Shelton, 39, and Stefani, 46, discussed the fact that she’ll be taking a break after season nine – although the new couple did not discuss their romance.

“I don’t want Gwen to not be on the show, why can’t we have a fifth coach?” Shelton said, seeming genuinely sad.

Renee Bargh interjected asking why there can’t be two female coaches, to which Blake replied: “Why can’t there be? I vote for that!”

Meanwhile Gwen played coy. When asked who she will miss the most she answered, “I wonder…” before explaining that she will miss the “chemistry” of all the coaches.

Sure, why not have Gwen AND Christina Aguilera? Or better yet, why not buy Christina out of her contract – because is she really bringing much to the show? – and just replace her with Gwen full-time? That’s what NBC executives are probably asking themselves right now. They’re going over Aguilera’s contract with a fine-tooth comb and seeing if they can throw her off the show. I get the feeling that Blake is one of NBC’s biggest properties at the moment, so his words are very much directed at NBC executives. Let’s see what they do about it.

Just came here to say BARF!

So SICK of this PR nightmare. I am really starting to dislike Gwen and Blake, I don’t like her new convenient heartbreak song, and the excessive PDA.
I never understood how the hollywood people want us to believe you can file for divorce and two weeks later be madly in love and over a person you’ve been married to for years. I don’t think Blake needed that much PR but Gwen has tried for years to get her music career going again, so there’s that.

      Co-sign!
I used to admire Gwen for being edgy and somewhat different but she suddenly turned into the typical Hollywood fame-whore (most likely she’s always been that way and she jumped on the first cheap wagon that was passing-by)

    • Tiffany :) says:

This whole performance is so nauseating and humiliating.

    • Alex says:

      Cosign as well

You think that only Hollywood people go into quick rebound relationships? LOL. That happens all the time in real life!

      • Mimz says:

No off course I know it happens in real life. People rebound all the time. But people don’t usually fall crazy in love in 2 weeks. My statement was more about how it happens so often in Hollywood, people don’t stay single for at least a month. I’m not saying “don’t date”, I’m saying I don’t buy it, when they go all “i’m so in love with this person i just started rebound-banging 2 days ago”. That is crazy to me.

This is gerting exhausting, shut up you two seriously… I’ve always liked gwen but she acts like shes 16!

    NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Gwen is awful on The Voice. She is completely vapid and has not added one moment of genuine laughter during the two seasons I’ve suffered through watching.

This is by far the worst coaching panel. Blake is checked out. Adam is annoying. Pharrel has nothing of interest to say and Gwen has no personality.

The best panel by far was Usher, Shakira, Adam and Blake.

But, if we can’t get Usher & Shakira back, at least get rid of Gwen. She’s horrible. At least Christina has a personality and a sense of humor.

    • jenben says:

yep, Gwen doesn’t have much personality on the show, and honestly some of her comments are…. not the brightest.

    • Pri says:

I also think Christina can sing, Gwen cannot. If they want to find America’s next warbler, Gwen, and even Shakira are good choices though.

    • Alex says:

That was my favorite panel too. Usher and Shakira really liven things up. They even have an effect on Adam and Blake who phone it in quite a bit some weeks

I’d love to see her stay for another season even though I don’t watch the show. Just for the inevitable break up then stab in the back and icy coldness stories heh heh.

  6. Meaghan says:

I love Gwen and No Doubt but this relationship does scream PR. I don’t, however, this her new single timing is convenient. Her most successful album (Tragic Kingdom) was about a break-up. I think she does her best work when she is heartbroken. And her new song is reminiscent of her Tragic Kingdom days so I’m happy about that.

Anyone else think it’s weird that blakes new song (he performed on the Voice, I think it’s called gonna) was written last spring and has a Rock Steady shoutout in it?!? As soon as I heard it I was all what !? I think they’ve been doing it, or he has been hung up on her, for quite a while longer then they have been publicly.

  7. Kelly says:

I liked her on The Voice personally and I have enjoyed the dynamics between all four, and unlike Christine she doesn’t make it all about her.

Who knows if it’s really or not (the romance) and who cares.

  8. claire says:

I think they genuinely like each other and who cares if it’s rebound. They’re adults. They just got divorced. If they want to mess around, and have fun then go for it. I don’t think any rebound should be treated too seriously, that’s not super healthy but if they want to fool around who cares.

  9. kimbers says:

I just cant pretend this whole thing is anything but PR. He cant stay faithful (drinking is an issue of his) and she projects a needy feel. While I wish this whole stunt was true and in the name “of love” or crush. ..in the end it’s for the show jaded as it sounds.

  10. Wentworth Miller says:

So, the Voice is a very popular show. I’ve never watched it and I like both Christina and Gwen. I’ve also never watched American Idol. The singing shows just aren’t my thing. So I say all that to say who has gotten anything out of being on the Voice? I could probably name 5 or 6 contestants from American Idol.

    • supposedtobeworking says:

a few of Blake’s artists. I think 5 of them have been nominated for country music awards and have charted their own singles from albums. The Swon Brothers were nominated for new artist and Cassadee Pope won a video award. Outside of that, I don’t know. And his winner from last season has had some country success. Adam had a contestant a few years back who won an emmy or Tony as part of an ensemble.
Adam had an interesting interview where he said the record companies are the biggest hurdles for the artists.

  11. Tessa says:

I really like the jeans she has had not during the last few pap strolls
Any idea who makes them? Are they lamb?

  12. Pabena6 says:

Don’t watch the show or know either one as singers, so I don’t have a dog in this hunt – but if she stays and the romance implodes down the line, that could be spectacularly messy, so I would think NBC might want to be cautious about that. Or would that be spectacularly good for ratings?! Eh.

  13. artpunk44 says:

I almost feel like a crash and burn scenario is inevitable with these two.
