Gwen Stefani doesn’t look Blake Shelton’s gift horse in the mouth

It looks like Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s relationship is definitely heating up. A source recently told E! News, “They have been having some great times with each other the past few months and are on the same page of life now.” Although the rumors that Gwen might be pregnant with Blake’s child have faded into the background, the couple does have a new mouth to feed – a horse.

The singer posted a few pics of the horse on her Instagram feed, with one captioned “My new bunny #bestpresentever.”

The second featured the horse ready to hit the trail with a saddle and some cool fringe accessories. (You know Gwen would make sure her horse was fashionable.) It is a gorgeous animal. Some commenters have mentioned that the horse is saddled incorrectly, but it’s hard to verify that.

Look at my fancy fringe!! #cantbelivemylife Gx #Halo

Blake, who has recently taken to Twitter to address conflicting headlines about the couple, has remained mum on the new arrival, but it’s assumed that he purchased the animal for his lady love. The family that rides together, stays together, right? Well, maybe not. Blake and ex Miranda Lambert had horses and look how that turned out.

As someone who has asked for a pony for many a birthday (as an adult as well), I think it’s a sweet gift. I do wonder if Gwen’s ever been on a horse though. I’m having a hard time picturing her in one of her designer ensembles and L.A.M.B heels on a horse. But I’m sure she’ll get the hang of it and be a cowgirl in no time at all. The experience could serve as the inspiration for a new Western wear line. You never know what kind of fug fashion Gwen could come up with next.

    Giddy Up!

  2. Mia says:

She looks far prettier without the heavy red lip.

    • JudyK says:

      Agree–so much prettier w/o it.

I wear red lipstick, too, but mine is a muted red. Hers is way too bright and too heavy.

    • Susan says:

Agreed. I always hear men feel we wear too much makeup…I really struggle with that, I get Gwen. My Makeup is my security blanket.

    • Jen43 says:

Yes. That red lipstick does her no favors. It’s aging.

    • Really says:

      Agreed, and younger too!
She’s always so made up, funny how now that she’s with a country boy we see her all grunged up.

  3. Catwoman says:

Well now she has a horse to go with her horse’s ass.

  4. Palar says:

Holy moly, how different does she look without make up on!?

    • Kip says:

I feel like the ‘tox is strong with this one…

    • A.Key says:

      Just like anyone else.

Why are people “shocked” that you look completely different with three layers of slab on?!

      Don’t you ever use makeup?

  5. leigh says:

I still find this relationship very disturbing. Just no. She is supposed to be with Gavin. My teen self is not handling their breakup at all. I refuse acknowledge this. Nope nope nope.

I do not get his appeal.

    • Jayna says:

She is supposed to be with Gavin, the husband who banged the nanny for three years under her nose? Wow.

Blake seems to be head over heels for her and she deserves it. It probably won’t last, but who knows. But with what she’s been through, the humiliation, it must feel amazing to feel so desired.

I hope she has a blast for however long it lasts.

    • Jisabird says:

I just wanted to come on here and support your comment. Putting the whole nanny thing aside, Blake is a real downgrade from Gavin. And the whole “going country” for your man makes her look insincere and insecure. IMHO of course…

      • A.Key says:

“putting the whole nanny thing aside”

        I’m sorry, WHAT?!?!

Putting the whole cheating, lying, dishonesty, utter betrayal, humiliation, backstabbing, lack of respect, love and breach of trust aside, YEAH GAVIN’S GREAT, A REAL PRINCE CHARMING.

  6. Sisi says:

the title of this article looks very strange, or is that just me?

    • Amanda says:

Not just you. To me the title doesn’t make any sense either.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It’s just a little play on the expression “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.”

    • The other Kiki says:

looking a gift horse in the mouth is an idiom which basically means that you are ungrateful for or critical of a gift someone gave you. Supposedly the phrase originated from it being rude to check a horse’s teeth if it was given as a gift, since checking the teeth would let you know the condition/age of the horse. I thought it was a clever title.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I thought it came from the Trojan Horse? But I guess I was wrong.

      • Canadian Becks says:

“Beware of Greeks bearing gifts” is the saying that alludes to the story of the Trojan Horse.

I learned English as my second language, and one of the things I really enjoy about languages is learning the sayings, phrases, slangs, and idioms.

What I want to know is, has she ever expressed an interest in horses? I always side-eye people who gift you with things that THEY themselves like. I think a gift should be something that is wanted by the giftee.

      • Kitten says:

I side-eye anyone who asks for a pet as a present and anyone that gives a pet as a present. I know it’s judgy of me, but I do.

    • Meh says:

      Deff not just you!

  7. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I don’t know the circumstances here, but in general, I think giving someone an animal as a gift is a terrible idea. Owning a horse is a huge commitment of time, money, space and energy if you do it properly, and it shouldn’t be a surprise.

    • Sullivan says:

That was my first thought. Surely they discussed this at great length ahead of acquiring the horse.

    • Bella says:

Under normal circumstances, I agree wholeheartedly with your statement GNAT. But, we know that this situation doesn’t demand the same thoughtful consideration, as neither Gwen or Blake will be providing the time, space or energy to care for this beautiful animal, just the money, and I would expect they pay their ranch hands and trainers well.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

True. I just hope it gets exercised regularly with her schedule, but you’re right, there are probably trainers and exercises and all the rest.

    • Wren says:

Yes it is (I speak from long experience), but these are not normal people we’re talking about here. Blake owns a ranch or two, doesn’t he? I think he’s got other horses as well, and when you’re rich and have land, an extra horse really isn’t that big a deal at all. Especially if you’ve already got horses and employees to do all the work. It would be less effort than getting an extra dog, really.

I kinda doubt he just “gave” her the horse like put a bow on it and left it at her house. It probably lives at one of his places with his other horses and it’s simply “Gwen’s horse” when she wants to come out and ride. (And no, it’s not saddled right, those pads need adjusting and the saddle itself looks too wide, but we horse people are notoriously picky.)

    • Kitten says:

Oh my god I just read this after posting the same above.

I was just talking to a co-worker this morning and she said she wants to give her daughter a puppy for her graduation. I spent twenty minutes trying to talk her out of it.

“Dogs are a huge responsibility. Doesn’t she travel a lot? She won’t be able to with a dog.”

“It’s impossible to get a decent apartment in Boston when you have a dog. Ask my bro and his GF!”

“What will she do with the dog when she’s at work? Has she thought about that? Will she have money for doggy day care or a dog walker?”

“I think she should wait until she owns a house and is settled in one city. She’s so young and who knows where she’ll be in another year?”

      …and on and on…

Anyway, I think I successfully convinced her that it wasn’t a good idea. lol

  8. ShinyGrenade says:

I miss the ska-punk Gwen. This botoxed thirsty lady is sad.

  9. Louise177 says:

I don’t like them as a couple. They are too in your face and famewhoring. I feel like they are going to breakup any second.

  10. What's inside says:

I think they are having a blast together and maybe he is not Mr. Right, but he could very well be Mr. Right Now.

  11. Lizzie says:

Her horse and French mani are something. She is the girl who turns into whatever her man wants. That is sad to me bc I am a huge fan. It is jarring bc she had such an established look and this cowgirl crap is a huge departure. If he is trying to stick it to his ex it is working and Gwen fell into his plan hook line and sinker. She’s going to look like and idiot with a pile of horse sh*t to clean up (or pay for) in 3 months when he dumps her

    • barca4ever says:

Wow thought exactly the same thing when I observed her new look. She changed her entire vibe with all these plaid shirts and trucker hats as soon as they started dating.

    • Amanda G says:

I agree, she’s dependant on men and does only what they like to do and wears what they like her to wear. It’s sad. I wish she had stayed single for awhile to gain some independence and self-worth.

  12. laura says:

All i can say is I’m jealous, I want a horse so bad!! Lol but I agree, animals as gifts is a bad idea.

  13. Tig says:

Doesn’t he own a ranch/land in OK? Maybe said horse is “hers” for when she visits there. I agree- you can’t just gift a horse-there is so much that is involved with caring/feeding/stabling. All that aside, they have the $$, so saddle up Gwen! Remember, trying new things doesn’t exactly equate to remaking oneself for a man. If she ever drops the over the top makeup job and platinum blond, then you may have a point!

  14. Savina says:

Is that her without the makeup? She looks gorgeous. Wow. I had read it was her ex hubby who she would always dress up for and never without makeup. IF that is true, hopefully this relationship will be the opposite of having to constantly be a Barbie doll.

    • supposedtobeworking says:

I think she is keeping up with the lipstick because she has a makeup line out, and probably needs to keep a commitment. She’s been wearing it less, and I hope she stops with it more. She looks great without it. And I’d like to see her fix her hair.

  15. Cara says:

Lord- I am SO sick of humanity posting every single thing on social media. Get off the damn phone and LIVE your life.

Yes, I know a horse is a big deal- but Gwen acts like an idiot 17 year old with her first boyfriend. How unattractive, at any age. And him buying a horse for her to ride is like the rest of us getting a pack of gum…he is loaded, and some groom will care for it. If she never mounts that horse, no biggie.

Gwen and Brad Pitt may be the true perfect couple…they both morph into their partners. I guess that might be totally confusing to them, however….somebody in the duo has to be in charge of The Look/The Interests, and it’s never either of them. 🙄

  16. Castor & Pollux says:

I’m with @Lizzie and @ShinyGrenade. I’m a huge No Doubt fan & have been for almost 20 years (cripes I’m old), but Gwen is making it way hard right now. No Doubt & her solo stuff has been removed from my iPod for the time being because I just….can’t with her right now. Last night I was just telling my husband how much I miss the days when you didn’t know everything about your favorite celebrity (her face-timing at Disneyland had me rolling my eyes so very hard!). She is just so botoxed and thirsty and seemingly insecure. She dated her bassist Tony Kanal for years, then went to almost immediately to Gavin, so there is real potential that this is only the 3rd (or so) guy she’s ever been with seriously! I think she needs to just take some time to be on her own, get through the divorce, and focus on her kids. Her youngest is 2! But I’m not a parent and I’ve never been through a divorce. What does everyone else think? Good for her or take some time? I agree she deserves every happiness, especially given everything Gavin put her through, but with her dating history…she just doesn’t seem to have much of an identity beyond her man du jour. Which is bananas because she’s a smart businesswoman & amazingly talented singer! I say take some time for yourself lamb!

    • Amanda G says:

She’s the type of woman who always needs a man. I would also like her to be single for awhile (or date casually) and grow more independant. For right now, I think Blake adores her, but that’s also because she’s molded herself into the woman he wants. Once he gets tired of that…she will have another broken heart.

  17. It'sJustBlanche says:

Oh I bet he has a gift horse.

Okay I’ll just show myself out.

  18. Cupcake says:

I can’t put my finger on why but I like them as a couple. They just seem well-suited for each other, for now.

I love the red lipstick, it’s part of her schtick!

  19. stinky says:

    her poor hair.
    that’s all I got.

  20. annaloo. says:

She’s ridden before, there was an instagram of her..but the comments section was full of “you’ve never ridden before, have you”.

Gwen is perpetually 17. But we love her for it.

  21. supposedtobeworking says:

Gwen has pictures of her and the kids horseback riding on her instagram, so she’s ridden before. I have no idea if she rides much though.

The horse looks like it’s saddled properly to me, its just loose. You usually don’t tighten the girth until you are ready to ride because horses usually puff up their bellies when you put the saddle on. If you don’t re-tighten it, the saddle can slide sideways.

  22. iheartgossip says:

Well. Except ole Blake was spotted at a party with a woman all over him and it wasn’t Mid-Life Crisis Gwen, and he wasn’t trying to get away. Then again, I was just at Krogers; and 1 cover said Gwen was pregnant with twins, but Blake wasn’t the marrying kind, quite yet. The cover right next, said Gwen was tired of Blake’s cheatin’ ways and they had a blow out fight. So – really. Don’t currrrr we know it’s all for attention. Get ‘er done, kids.
