Elizabeth Olsen: Tom Hiddleston ‘nailed’ his portrayal of Hank Williams

wenn23548435

Here are some photos of Elizabeth Olsen this week at the Gucci show in Milan. I always forget that Milan Fashion Week and London Fashion Week sort of run concurrently. I’m also assuming that Olsen is being paid to sit front row at the Gucci show – Olsen is a self-styled Fashion Girl, and she usually chooses (or is chosen for) one or two fashion shows every season nowadays. I personally think her outfit looks crazy, especially with those insane heels.

Since I Saw the Light’s release was suddenly pushed back last fall, Olsen and Tom Hiddleston will have to redo their promotional work next month. The American release date is March 25th, and I’m assuming it will be a limited release at that. The reviews coming out of TIFF were not great, but the critics mostly slammed the movie as a whole and the direction, not so much Tom’s performance as Hank Williams or Olsen’s performance as his first wife. But when Olsen was asked specifically about Hiddleston’s performance, she had nothing but praise:

Elizabeth Olsen has defended co-star Tom Hiddleston’s casting as Hank Williams in their upcoming movie – claiming that he “nailed” his performance as the legendary singer.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron star – who was awarded Movie Actress of the Year at last night’s Elle Style Awards – plays Audrey Mae Williams opposite Hiddleston in Marc Abraham’s I Saw the Light, set for release later this year.

She told Digital Spy: “I know some people were confused by why he was cast as the part, but you won’t think twice about when you watch the movie.”

[From Digital Spy]

“Nailed” is such an interesting word. We all know Tom worked so hard to “nail” his performance as Hank Williams. But I also think Tom and Elizabeth worked hard to nail each other. Especially since Olsen dumped her fiancé over the phone just as she began working with Tom? Ha.

I had those shoes in high school. Movie Actress of the Year? Is that a joke?

    • NUTBALLS says:

      Purchased by Publicist?

    • Mia4s says:

Yeah I don’t know how actors accept these publicist bought/agreed awards with a straight face. Part of the job I guess!

I’m fascinated by what I call Sam Worthington-syndrome. Both she and Aaron Taylor-whatshisface suffer from it. They were in two blockbusters, one made $500 million the other $1.5 BILLION….and no one cares. Nothing. The needle barely registered a change.

  2. If that outfit is representative of her fashion “cred”, Kill. Me. Now. Her style is awful. Her sisters in their goth girl chic are no better.
    Hard pass.

    • Ravensdaughter says:

I do wonder if she is wearing any items from her creepy sisters’ tacky, overpriced fashion line. Ugh. Mary-Kate and Ashley give me the creeps, and Elizabeth looks enough like them to give me the creeps, too.
As for “nailed”, DEFINITE Freudian slip.

  3. Spugzbunny says:

Those shoes! Can someone ID them? They are my everything and they make my heart sing!

  4. kri says:

    Among other things.

  5. MexicanMonkey says:

The shoes are actually okay, the dress is kinda meh. But I love that coat!

And regardless of her personal relationship with Hiddleston, he really wants fantastic in ISTL. And it seems like the critics unanimously agreed that he and Olson deserve all the praise.

  6. madly says:

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

They haven’t been in the same country for months, not even for each other’s B-day or valentines day. Can we kills this rumor or is it out there just to get clicks?

    • chelsea says:

Relax. You can always fuss about the injustice of it all over at Lipstick Alley.

      • Madly says:

Of course I will. If that is your attempt to embarrass me, you failed miserably. If I wanted to hide it, I would have used another name, obviously. LOL.

  7. t.fanty says:

Has she had surgery? Her nose and mouth really look like those old ladies who do too much to their faces, but the three sisters all look exactly like that. Natural, or matching surgery?

    • madly says:

No idea, but the smug is strong with her in these pictures. I wouldn’t be so smug in that outfit.

    • NUTBALLS says:

A lot of people think she has had a nose job.

    • Velvet, Crushed says:

The rumor is that their rhinoplasties were necessary to mitigate the influence on their faces of the abuse of a certain drug. If true, Elizabeth would have been extremely young at the time of her surgery, and almost certainly developed the habit under the tutelage of her siblings.

      • KB says:

Aren’t rhinoplasties about shaving cartilage? And cocaine just eats through it…why would a rhinoplasty be the answer to deteriorated cartilage in the nose?

      • Velvet, Crushed says:

My understanding of the term is that is describes all sorts of nasal plastic surgery, but I certainly welcome the correction if I am mistaken. Yes, I have always wondered how much a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles might count on earning given that an (possibly cocaine-using) actress’ first procedure would almost certainly involve cartilage-shaving.

This does not pertain to @KB’s comment, but I find that there is an absence of head-tone in her voice (sort of a dull throatiness, to be a little more specific) that makes me certain that her surgery was not merely cartilage shaving.

Edited as an attempt at clarity, sorry.

    • Bread and Circuses says:

Her nose has pretty much always looked like that. I think it’s natural, despite looking so much like one-too-many-rhinoplasties syndrome.

      • t.fanty says:

It looks kind of like that sissy spaceck/Michelle Pffeifer 1970s nose job that is just a bit too tiny for the face. Either it’s natural, or they get a family discount from the same, mediocre surgeon.

    • Rade says:

Definite, obvious nose job. Google old pics of her and there’s a noticeable change.

A lot of actors and models get nose jobs because they’re told or believe that a smaller, less distinctive nose sweeps attention up towards the eyes by being less of a distraction. She has lovely eyes, but if that’s why she did it, it was a mistake. Her original nose was fine and harmonious to her face. Unfortunately the surgery made her nose way too pinched, which is a shame. Like a pretty eyed Voldemort.

  8. Freebunny says:

She looks more and more like Voldemort.

  9. Mara says:

Boring as hell. Her voice irritates me and yes Kaiser… He nailed it. Or better HER… This is so sad. He transformed so well into Hank and everything what I see is him banging Olsen and her dumping her fiance over the phone. Thanks for reminding me about this classy behavior.

    • NUTBALLS says:

When I watched their love scene in ISTL, all I could think was “Are these two even acting or are we getting a glimpse of what was going on in his trailer?”

It was distracting in my personal experience of the film and all for a casual fling that should have been kept under the radar. Now, they look disingenuous for using it to gain some column inches ahead of the TIFF premier.

      • Mara says:

Totally agree with you…. And I still ask myself: Why? Out of all women. Btw, I love her coat though.

      • chelsea says:

Disingenuous before or after they denied it?

      • Portia says:

@Nutballs – agreed. Especially since the Instagram pic incident that showed that Olsen was indeed in Hawaii visiting Tom. She’d have to be a very special friend of someone’s on the Skull Island cast and crew if she was not only allowed to come on to a closed set but hang out with the rest of the cast during their team outings. I didn’t even see the director, Jordan’s girlfriend at any of those fun hangouts the crew was doing and she was definitely visiting him on set in Hawaii too.

THEO definitely had an affair that began on the ISTL set and it carried on well into end of 2015. Elizabeth being in Hawaii confirmed that pap night and the DailyMail pic before that wasn’t just a case of platonic friends hanging out. They were seeing each other and they used it to try to get more press for themselves and their film. I guess the sheen and fun of the affair probably wore thin when the Internet put two and two together after pap night and began throwing around a words like cheater and homewrecker. They went underground because it’s not like the movie was doing well and added speculation about an affair would just add to bad press about it. Not to mention how Olsen’s team just let Tom be the bad guy in all the tabloid leaks they did.

I guess now Tom will think twice about getting bed with an Olsen. Literally and figuratively.

    • spidey says:

Her voice is really harsh and irritating. And those shoes 😯

  10. aims says:

Nailed is an interesting word. I suspect a lot of things got “nailed ” on the movie. I still have a bad feeling about this girl. The way she treated her long time fiancee was horrible. That speaks volumes about her.

  11. Lilacflowers says:

My feet hurt just looking at those shoes

    • NUTBALLS says:

The only positive thing I can say is that the color is fab. Red is my signature color and I love that shade of it. Too bad the style of shoes is horrendous.

    • chelsea says:

The way they’re constructed it shouldn’t.

      • lilacflowers says:

The way they are constructed would be utter torture on my feet. I wear heels but not that high and I’ve had people tell me before that a platform like that up front “makes them comfortable” or “manageable” or “not bad”. That has not been my experience. Not on my feet. Pain. Off-balance. Hurt.

    • Cranberry says:

And women tend to look ridiculous walking in them unless they’re a long legged professional model that knows how to walk in anything. Then again if regular gals went around walking like models in the street, they would look pretty silly and out of place.

  12. CornyBlue says:

That white coat is kind of perfection. i wish i had money for that. The shoes pains my feet already but she looks nice. maybe the centre ribbon thing could have been done away with. Why do people here not like her ?

    • MexicanMonkey says:

Because she dared have a relationship, if whatever kind, with Hiddleston? Because they supposedly did so while she was engaged, although we have no proof of that and she did actually break it off with her fiancé before she was seen out and about with Tom. And I don’t care much for the whole ‘she dumped him over the phone’, we don’t know what that was like or her reasons for it. Who knows when they would have been in the same place for her to do it in person? It’s all very judgmental in my humble opinion.

      • kai says:

MMonkey, I agree with you. some commenters really seem to think they actually know anything about these people. And they’re just looking for a reason to dislike EO.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@MexicanMonkey, you make valid points. I have no real opinion of her at all as I know little about her other than she’s an Olsen and makes odd clothing choices and I find her bland. We know nothing about that breakup other than the narrative the ex had put out there. We have no idea what was going on in the relationship or what he is like as a partner, whether he was a nice guy or passive or manipulative or a cheat or violent. The rush to judgment with so little information puzzles me. And there’s no proof of any romantic relationship with TH either.

      • CornyBlue says:

Thats the vibe i got as well. No one cared about this chick( here) before she started supposedly dating Hiddleston.

      • n says:

MexicanMonkey – applause for you. I’m sure Elizabeth (and Tom, and Boyd) aren’t perfect, but personally I think there’s a lot more judgement than fact going around here. Which is expected, it’s gossip after all, but Jesus, people are acting like she personally orchestrated her call to coincide with the death of his friend.

Anyway, Elizabeth and Tom know what’s being said about them (some truly charming people decided to harrass his director after all) and if you truly believe there was an affair then you can rave to your heart’s content about it. I personally wish the best to all three of them, as I would with any other strangers. I sympathise with Boyd for having a shitty day and few months, but that doesn’t mean the other parties are horrible people.

      • NUTBALLS says:

I find her bland, her voice irritating and not too bright or culturally aware, but I do think she’s a good actress, given the right part. I loved her performance in MMMM and she does well in ISTL. I scratch my head at how a Mr Double First from Cambridge would find her interesting, but it’s his choice.

Lizzy and Boyd were working on separate continents so I don’t have a problem with her breaking up with him over the phone. When you know it’s over, it’s best to get it over with right away.

I think there’s enough circumstantial evidence to conclude that THEO had a casual affair (and they certainly didn’t discourage people from thinking that) which as legal, consenting adults is their right. I just wish they hadn’t used it for publicity if they weren’t that serious with each other, that’s all. For this reason, I won’t mind seeing Fassy/Vikander in LBTO since they’ve been more up front & open with their romance.

The PR games THEO played affected the way I viewed the film when I saw it, so it wasn’t as “pure” of an experience as it could have been. It also showed that Tom is willing to use his personal life for PR when it suits a specific purpose in contrast to comments he’s made in the past, which was disappointing to me.

I know that there are those that don’t see it the way I do and that’s fine, but this sums up the reasons March 25th can’t come soon enough for me.

      • jammypants says:

        On the money, MexicanMonkey

      • KittyKat says:

I don’t really have an opinion on her. Just that I can’t take her very seriously after her epic award winning performance opposite Hiddles in Date Night consisting of running around with a scarf over her head screeching for Tom and him ignoring her whilst fiddling on his phone the whole time. Despite the fact that she gets hounded anyway by the paps and they have never really bothered her plus she’s had worse. The whole thing was odd.

Now there are two sides to every story it’s just that we’ve only heard one and that’s not hers. It has nothing really to with Hiddles as he was the single one and red blood man is not going to say no.
However if it was serious with them I’d expect them not to hide by now or play media games. The interest is because they’re both showbiz but plenty of actors and actresses dating manage a balance. Like My favourite couple Freddie Prince Jnr and Sarah Michelle Geller

      • InvaderTak says:

@n: What director was getting harassed? and why?

      • spidey says:

@ nutballs, circumstantial evidence isn’t in itself enough for a conviction. 🙂 I have no idea if they had an affair or not. They were seen out together a couple of times in London months after the filming. They were seen out whilst filming – but he was seen out with Sam Jackson last week…………..and Jessica Chastain whilst filming………

If they say “no we aren’t” then in the immortal words of Mandy Rice-Davies there will be those who say “Well they would say that wouldn’t they?” And he has said before that when there is something worth saying he will say it, meantime he keeps quiet and I respect that.

As I said I have no idea either way but I do know that in the face of inconclusive evidence people will tend to assume the worst.

      • spidey says:

        sorry duplicate post.

      • jammypants says:

@KittyKate: “Just that I can’t take her very seriously after her epic award winning performance opposite Hiddles in Date Night consisting of running around with a scarf over her head screeching for Tom and him ignoring her whilst fiddling on his phone the whole time.”

Haha! Gave me a good chuckle reading that. She did overreact while Tom was like, chill woman.

@Nut, I think @n was referring to the Skull Island director on his instagram-gate

      • ennuiarethechampions says:

@MexicanMonkey, you pretty much summed it up! If you look at the CB thread announcing her being cast in ISTL, people were largely pleased about it. The worst thing said about her is that a few posters considered her bland. Now she is apparently not only bland, but also a thirsty, unintelligent, untalented, irritating, clueless, classless, cold-hearted fame-seeker. Hmm, wonder what changed?

I don’t know or care much about her, personally, beyond thinking that she and TH looked cute together (if indeed they were together). But I find the trashing of any woman who is perceived as having been in the Hiddlepants to be weird and kind of gross.

      • Anon222 says:

        @MexicanMonkey You nail it.

      • jammypants says:

@ennui, I noticed that too. People even liked her before Tom.

“I find the trashing of any woman who is perceived as having been in the Hiddlepants to be weird and kind of gross.”

        and sad =/

    • aims says:

For starters, she dumped her long time fiancee over the phone, who had also lost his bestfriend the same day. Rumor has it that she dumped him so she could start or continue her affair with Tom. Her ex packed up his belongings from their apartment and left. She could’ve done the decent thing and talked to him in person or maybe help him through the death of his friend and then leave.

      • CornyBlue says:

I have been here before that and people did hate her before that. Not that it isnt a shitty thing to do.

      • n says:

They were in different countries working when she ended the relationship FYI. As for what happened, all we have is his one sentence about it – who knows, maybe they’d had other phone calls and conversations talking about their relationship and the final one just unfortunately happened to be on the same day as his friend’s death.

Not to mention, you don’t have to carry on a relationship you no longer want to be in just because you’re in different countries or his friend died. Why wait two months to see each other and pretend you’re still into it in the meantime? Surely that’s just as hurtful?

And the whole thing of her dumping him the same day his friend died – please. I highly doubt she knew that was going to happen. The fact is, we have no idea what was said between them, or whether they’ve spoken since. im not even a fan of her particularly but the way people are harping on as if she planned the breakup to coincide with his friends death is ridiculous.

      • Mara says:

Nah I mean they were on different continents right? No way in hell was she able to do it personally. No way. She was probably in Narnia while he was in Africa behind a rock. Who cares… Each to their own. I am sure everyone moved on.

    • jammypants says:

Personally I don’t really care much. I don’t dislike her. I think she’s cute with moderate talent.

      • icerose says:

All i want is to see the film and make up my own mind re the script-if they had an affair good on both of them-they are adults and can do what they like

      • jammypants says:

@ice, same. I watched the film and didn’t think, “I can’t with this showmance!” I was into the movie and focused on their characters. I genuinely don’t give a crap. It definitely did not affect my viewing and I thought they were both excellent.

    • Dara says:

I don’t actively dislike her, in fact – for a while – I thought she was pretty cool and I’m still rooting for her in a minor way. But, as with a lot of actors that pique my interest at first glance, the more I see/hear/read of them the less interested I become.

For a while, she was one of my style girls too – I enjoyed seeing what she was wearing if she was photographed out and about. Lately though, her choices have been so fug I just can’t deal anymore.

    • chelsea says:

      TOM HIDDLESTON. She’s had him.

  13. Cali_jade25 says:

he “nailed” the part?? pretty sure he “nailed” you too

  14. Kate says:

I just came here to say Tom can nail me 7 days a week.

    Her “style” baffles me.

  15. KittyKat says:

I don’t care who dumped who for whatever reason but how THEO on a whole was conducted including her magical award winning “Tooooooommmmm” performance has put me off ISTL.

Off Topic I applaud all those who defend Hiddles to the end of the earth but please realise he can human and do completely stupid and up gentleman things on occasion (I’m commenting in general)
It makes me laugh how some fans go to extremes to prove he’s never in the wrong. Ladies can you calm it down? You’re becoming crazy like obsessive stalkers and the haters and worse Cumberbatch fans (joke)

    • spidey says:

And some people are perfectly well aware that Tom is human, they just prefer a little more definitive proof before slagging him off.

      • KittyKat says:

if he was that annoyed by a silly off handed remake by an idiot he would be a very paranoid man.
I don’t see why some people have to defend him to the end on behalf of him- that’s what he pays Luke for.
Just let it go and laugh at the stupidness of the rumours and idiots he doesn’t care about them so we shouldn’t either.

I trust Tom and I trust his team so I don’t need proof on a silly idiots theory or clearly fabricated nonsense. If it’s really bad he’d get it shut down himself

      • Mara says:

No one is slagging him off. Just pointing out that he is not perfect. Some people think that he could do no wrong and I totally agree with kittykat.

      • lilacflowers says:

@kittykat, he did deny it and people have parsed the words and screamed “liar.” Nobody is perfect. Some of us just like proof and facts before judgment and yes, I am laughing at those who rush to pass judgment without proof or facts. I’m also laughing at those claiming that the PR and the “relationship” have put them off the film.

      • spidey says:

Thank you lilacflowers, nice to know someone agrees with me. I am old fashioned enough to disapprove of rags peddling unsubstantiated rumours. And “it goes with the job” doesn’t actually cut it with me.

Anyone who is put of a film in this way has way too much investment.

      • NUTBALLS says:

        Lilac/Spidey… clarification:

        1. Tom didn’t deny anything, he simply deflected it. He never addressed their relationship directly in the Cineplex interview.
        2. I’ve never said I was put off on the film b/c of THEO; it was distraction to my experience of viewing it.

I have no issues with anyone who doesn’t see PR shenanigans where I do since it’ll never be proven one way or another. Actors will never fess up to their PR games since the point is to make it look like there isn’t any.

      • Portia says:

@Spidey and Lilac – What about the fact that Elizabeth Olsen went to Hawaii to the closed set of Skull Island? She hung out with the entire cast. The pic from Jordan Vogt-Roberts Instagram caused quite a ruckus. I highly doubt a platonic friend would be allowed on a closed set like that where the studio is paying for every single thing their actors are using. Down to the food and lodging and footing the bill for all their activities. They wouldn’t pay for a random actress dropping by. A girlfriend of one of the actors, however, could potentially be allowed that kind of access but certainly not another actress who just happens to be a casual acquaintance. Its much different than someone dropping by at a wrap up party.

      • madly says:

Damien Lewis visited the closed set in Hawaii too. I’m pretty sure that he is not in a romantic relationship with Tom. Opps goes that theory, but I’m sure you will find a way to twist it to fit your narrative.

      • Dara says:

Careful madly, you may just start a rumor you didn’t intend on starting! But seriously, what was Lewis doing there? I don’t remember hearing about him being in Hawaii at the time – any more info you can share?

I’m a big fan of Helen McCrory and her husband – both individually and as a couple. Did anyone else see she’s going to be Hester in Deep Blue Sea at the National Theatre? I wonder who Freddie will be.

      • lilacflowers says:

@Portia, where does one find these rules of “closed sets” and “what platonic friends cannot do?” Because I really think I’ve violated that second set numerous times. And where does this indisputable information that she visited the “closed set” come from? Were they playing laser tag and go-carts on set? Also, given that Legendary is connecting Kong and Godzilla, a visit to the set, closed or otherwise, wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities for the lead actress from the Godzilla franchise. As for the “ruckus”, it occurred only in very limited circles, the rest of the world, including myself, doesn’t care about the picture or the ruckus or those who caught themselves up in the ruckus. In fact, they could be secretly married with triplets on the way or they could despise the sight of one another and it would make no difference to me.

@Madly, didn’t you hear? Damien Lewis is banging John Goodman AND John Ortiz.

      • Portia says:

@Madly – I’m sure if Damien Lewis visited, it wasn’t just some drop by whenever you feel like it visit. He had to have gotten clearance ahead of time. Probably the same way Elizabeth Olsen’s visit would have been cleared ahead of time before she actually arrived there. Unless you believe she just showed up unannounced out of the blue and has boundary issues.

It’s fine if you believe they’re just platonic friends. You can continue to believe the twisted narrative that Tom will publicly explicitly announce to his fans every single time he dates someone or has FWB.

      • KTE says:

I read an interview with Sam L Jackson and Gwen Christie the other day, and he invited her to visit the set in Hawaii in it. So it obviously wasn’t as closed as all that.

I actually am doubtful that it was Olsen in that Instagram pic – it could easily have been that actress who bears her a startling resemblance (especially since it was tiny, and everyone was pulling comedy selfie-faces in it). That’s who the ReelTours Hawaii Twitter account said it was, and they’ve been stalking the production. I know that some argue that the dates are wrong, but what is more likely: that the film’s director accidentally included a picture of Tom’s super-secret girlfriend in a cast photo montage, or that the Internet sleuths trying to work out a timeline of comings and going from rumour, Twitter sighting and Instagram pictures have got their dates wrong?

      • Mara says:

        Portia…..
Most of the people think that Tom is a unicorn. Btw I agree with you about Hawaii. The thing is: Tom once said if there was something to write about he would tell. But here is my opinion: I don’t believe him. Not for a second. Sad, hm?! People will only believe a relationship if he is trolling around with his girl on the RC. I do think that these two are dating.

      • KittyKat says:

I don’t know why we’re back on the subject of JVR Instagram again but let me put it this way, I’m not going to go through Twitter, tumblr and Instagram to prove it was her or wasn’t her. That’s way too much investment for me and quiet frankly silly on both parties part. I suspect the arguing of fans on his Instagram probably got it taken down.

I’m actually old enough and wise enough not get into silly fights who’s right or wrong in any situation regarding my favourite actor. And I’m talking in general about him not just with THEO.

If he doesn’t care about silly comments, then neither do I. If there is a really slanderous comment then I’m sure he’d tell Luke who he pays him for to sort it out.

      • Mara says:

        @kittykat
Have I mentioned that you are saying all the stuff I am actually thinking? Love your comments. Thanks.

      • Portia says:

Not sure why my comment is stuck in moderation but I’ll submit again with a few edits.

I’m sure if Damien Lewis visited, it wasn’t just some drop by whenever you feel like it visit. He had to have gotten clearance ahead of time. Probably the same way Elizabeth Olsen’s visit would have been cleared ahead of time before she actually arrived there. If Sam Jackson invited Gwen to visit then I’m sure that means you can visit once you get cleared to. A closed set means people can’t just drop by because they happen to be in the area. It means the studio has to be notified of them coming and then they wait to be cleared to enter. It’s a process not a crazy one but a process nonetheless.

Unless people believe Elizabeth Olsen just showed up unannounced out of the blue and has boundary issues and Tom was somehow too polite to say no because in that case, the studio and the producer would have said no for him.

      • KittyKat says:

@spidey @liliac for clafication I’m put off by ISTL even more because I know every time I see them both I will be reminded of her screeching Toooommm (you have to laugh at that episode) but hey that’s my sense of humor. It wasn’t a film intended to see anyway. It doesn’t make me a less of a fan and I doubt Tom or Elizabeth will stick a gun to my head and make me watch it to prove I’m their real fan either.
I don’t see how I’m too invested not to watch it because of my own personal reason. The invested lot you should be complaining about is that silly fan on here (can’t remember the name/can’t be bothered to hunt for it) that had a go at reporter because in their own opinion made out Toms a toff and dug out info about the reporters background (when 99% of fans know he’s not a toff regardless of his education) Now that’s waaaaayyy to invested.

I don’t think you were the only one put off by Toooooooooooom I think Toooooooom was too.

      • lilacflowers says:

@Kittykat, I agree with you more than not. And yes, “Toooooooommmm” was hilarious.

@Portia, nobody is saying she didn’t have clearance but people are trying to point out to you that having clearance does not equate to a sexual or romantic relationship. And again, I don’t care who Tom gets himself involved with but, unlike others, I do not jump to conclusions nor do I pass judgment when there is nothing conclusive.

      • Madly says:

Damien Lewis was with them in the go carting outing. He is clearly visible in the photos. A lot of friends were on that set too. I think people are talking out their backsides about the rules, how strict they are, and what went down based off of one collage.

      • Madly says:

PS, you don’t need permission to go on social outings with the cast. Do you think everyone at the night clubs, mall, and other places had to get special permission? Geez, the logic of the board sometimes…

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Madly, come sit with me and have a mimosa.

      • Madly says:

@lilac, if we had a drinking game on all the fanfiction and false info, we would be continually drunk.

    • Portia says:

@Madly – yes, if the studio is footing the bill for those outings to gokarting and night clubbing and the drinks and food there then you’re damn right they are going to need permission. You think these guys are paying out of pocket for all this fun they’re having? Sure, they go out and do things on their own with friends but not these activities and outings that the whole cast and crew are doing together. Most people don’t realize just how much a studio covers it’s cast and crew’s expenses when they shoot a movie.

@Mara – Its always interesting how so many fans would rather assume he’s single and say they’re not “jumping to conclusions” as if Tom dating someone or having a girlfriend is such a scandalous and dirty thing. It’s just not possible that he could be dating and just wants people who are not friends and family to stay out of his private life. I’d rather believe Tom is dating whoever he’s rumored to be dating than pretend he’s single all the time and make fun of people who think he might be a normal guy with normal guy interests. It’s not an insult or incriminating to date and people fall in and out of love and have affairs in Hollywood all the time. Tom and Elizabeth may have done the same and may have also tried peddling it when they thought their movie had a shot at the Oscar’s.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Pretty sure I never jumped to the conclusion that he isn’t involved with anyone. Also, “single” means “not married.” I’ve been on film sets, wasn’t banging anyone.

      • KTE says:

@Portia, we’re talking about multi-millionaires here, I’m sure they can afford to pay for their own go-karting and laser-tag trips. This insistence that it’s all funded by the studio is bizarre.

I’d personally be very happy to hear that Tom is in a relationship with anyone, because I like him and wish him well. I’m not particularly happy to see people accuse him of being a hippocrite, lying, disingenuous, manipulating fans and being a marriage-wrecker and/or putting on a ‘showmance’ for PR when I can see no reason to disbelieve his denial and explanation that they’re long-term friends.
He did deny it, and so did she, though some people are so determined to hold on to the idea that they’ve dragged their words out of all context to try and make their denials sound ambiguous. And then, as Lilacflowers has pointed out, accused them of lying anyway.

I just don’t like the nastiness of it.

      • Madly says:

Who says the studio was paying for these outings? Where are you getting your info from, wiki? And no, she still doesn’t need permission. You are twisting things to fit your narrative instead of just looking at things as they are. She was at an outing. There is no evidence that she was invited by Tom, that she didn’t just crash, or that others there invited there, or that she was anyone’s date. She was there for one event and then they haven’t been seen together for months. That is all we know.

      • KTE says:

        @Lilacflowers
I regularly go to the theatre and have dinner out in central London with people who I am not shagging, too. The other day we even accidentally bumped into a bunch of people with cameras outside London Fashion Week. If you notice a fat woman in a purple M&S coat in the background of some fashion model’s pap shots, that’s probably me!

      • Madly says:

        @KTE, totally agree.

The notion that some of us are not wanting him to be in a relationship is silly. He is a grown man with needs, he probably has had several flings. I just don’t see evidence of it here and those who do seem to be reading between the lines to get it.

      • Dara says:

I’m betting the studio foots the bill for a lot of things, but it’s also a Hollywood tradition for the lead actors on a production to host a few activities along the way for their fellow cast and crew or give out gifts at the end of a production. I’m betting all of the fun being had on the Monkey Movie is a combination of studio-paid and actor-hosted.

And most sets are ‘closed sets’ – but that just means you have to be associated with the production or someone working on it to get in. If you are a friend of one of the actors – and are an actor yourself – no one will question putting your name on the approved list. There are days that are probably off-limits, but that’s at the discretion of the production.

  16. KTE says:

Funny how my comment disappeared. Was it because I pointed out the rumours have all come from speculation on sites like this? Using the rumours you already started to support the rumour you’re currently spreading is an old gossip rag trick.

  17. KittyKat says:

Well yet again she doesn’t look pregnant. Mind you after all the rumours of her being that she’d had the baby twice over by now lol

  19. browniecakes says:

Together THEO has to promote this panned film (25% on Rotten Tomatoes with no Top Critics yet), after a (alleged) recently ended fling. We’re about to see some acting from those two on the press junket. See if they can nail that.

    • NUTBALLS says:

Care to wager if they’ll be all business like at TIFF or if she’ll be flirting a la Chastain as she was in Nashville?

      • Portia says:

She might be acting like Elizabeth Debicki this time since people couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful and graceful she looked and how good her and Tom looked together at Berlinale. Some commenters even sarcastically remarked that maybe Tom hooked up with the wrong Elizabeth.

  20. toby says:

i think she looks great. lot of comments on her nose. it’s always looked like that. i think the angle makes it look strange but her nose shape is very distinct.
