Rocco Ritchie & a NYC judge want Madonna & Guy to stop with the drama

Rocco Ritchie’s custodial agreement blew up last December. Rocco had been on tour with his mom, Madonna, for several months when he “ran away” to his dad’s home in London. Rocco has been there ever since, refusing to go to New York to see his mom for Christmas, and refusing to go back to his school in NYC. The whole thing was a mess, and both Guy Ritchie and Madonna were playing everything out in the press. Madonna – more than Guy – seemed to have problems acknowledging that Rocco was and is a rebellious (#RebelHeart) teenager who wants and needs some space from his strict, controlling mother. The whole thing got built up to the point where we were counting down the days to the Guy-Madonna face-off in court, but the court dates got moved around, and when the parties did meet in court yesterday, Madonna, Rocco and Guy were not in attendance. It was just the lawyers. And the judge had little patience for Guy and Madonna’s narcissism too.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s attorneys squared off in court again Wednesday. Per exchanges at the hearing, the exes had apparently neared an agreement outside of court but seemed to have come to blows in the eleventh hour. At the hearing – which both Madonna, 57, and Ritchie, 47, called into to listen on speaker phone – a judge and the exes’ attorneys agreed that Rocco will remain in London for the time being, where he is enrolled in a school chosen by both Madonna and Ritchie, while he lives with his father for the time being.

“No one is disrupting this household . The child is in school; let us try to allow him to go forward in the most normal way,” said New York Supreme Court judge Deborah Kaplan. “We’re not forcing the child to leave school. His mother isn’t asking that.”

Indeed, maintaining a “normal” life for Rocco is one point all parties can agree on. “In almost every conversation, he has stressed to me how stressful [the very public custody battle is],” Rocco’s court-appointed attorney said. “He is going to school now, which is a great step forward, and the parents should be commended that they were able to reach this decision … He’s enjoying himself there; he’s having a good educational experience; the school seems to be a great fit for him.”

And the judge noted she would not yet enforce her order for Ritchie to return Rocco to the U.S., though, as Ritchie’s attorney argued: “Rocco is of an age where he cannot be physically compelled to [get on a plane] back to New York.” Despite this fact, Madonna’s lawyer, Eleanor Alter, argued not returning Rocco was a reckless move in teaching him responsibility.

“He taught his son that obeying court orders … is not necessarily important. That is one of the most serious things that has happened in this court,” Alter argued.

Coming to a compromise has been a feat for the couple, who have a strained relationship. While the exes’ and Rocco’s attorneys have yet to come to an agreement regarding his custody, all three agreed that it is best to keep him as much out of the spotlight as possible and, if possible, settle the matter out of the courtroom.

“I’m encouraging the parents to continue to resolve this matter in the best way possible for the child to take this tremendous pressure off their son,” the judge said.

Madonna and Ritchie are expected in New York court for their next hearing this summer, tentatively scheduled for June 1, after Madonna’s camp amend their complaint and Ritchie’s and Rocco’s lawyers have time to review the amendment.

[From People]

Previously, the weeklies reported that Madonna was trying a different tack with Rocco –instead of bitching about Guy in the press, Madge was talking to Rocco privately, and promising him that things would be different if only he would return, and she could learn to be less strict and controlling. But I find it interesting that “the exes had apparently neared an agreement outside of court but seemed to have come to blows in the eleventh hour.” Yeah, because that’s the point of this exercise at this point – it’s a chance for Guy and Madonna to re-hash all of their old grudges. The judge even called them out on it, saying that “Frankly, both parties have chosen to live their lives in a very public way and may welcome the publicity, but the child has not. He would like this matter resolved and the issues concerning him and his family in the most private way possible.” Ouch. To make matters worse, Madonna’s lawyer apparently asked the judge to have Guy arrested for contempt of court. Classic.

How old are these (Madonna’s) pictures? She finally looks…good?

    • Capepopsie says:

      Hi Eve!

Good to see you commenting again!
      Missed you. Been concerned too.
      Hopefully you are okay. ☺️

        Thank you!

I’m trying to keep my head on my shoulders. But I’m not gonna lie: my mind has been a mess lately.

        :*

Eve these photos are just from last year actually. And I know what you mean, whatever she’s had done, it was done really well. She looks amazing! Probably the best she’s looked in a really long time.

  2. Renata says:

This self-absorbed harpy is finally getting her comeuppance.

    • FingerBinger says:

      A custody fight is a comeuppance? I don’t understand.

      • PK says:

I think Renata might be referring to Madonna’s habit of bending the world around her to get what she wants. She’s very used to having her way, and this time she didn’t.

It’s interesting that she would seek to have Ritchie arrested for violating the law, considering she basically bought her adopted “non-orphan” children (both had family in Malawi participating in their care).

Madonna used an alleged gray market front to adopt in a country where foreign adoption is clearly illegal, and then threw money at the government of one of the poorest countries on the planet to make the bad PR go away.

And we now have 100% proof Madonnna is a narcissist, perhaps even with NPD.

“Promising things will be different ” is the ultimate NPD manipulation. The ultimate set up and mind fuck. What it means is “I will tell you what you want to hear so you come back and I can keep abusing you”.
If things were going to be different they wouldn’t be in this situation because she would already be considerate of his feelings.

Poor boy. I only hope his father actually sees him as a person.

    • PK says:

I do think these two enjoy sticking it to each other at every opportunity, but it would appear she relishes it more.

The kid has legitimate complaints about the life his mother provides for him – the constant touring, the public humiliation she subjects him to on social media, come-and-go tutors when he just wants to go to a regular school, loneliness, etc.

I just can’t believe she tried to have the guy arrested. She’s got balls, I’ll give her that much.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Agreed. And added to everything else is her castrating-b*tch cruelty to her own son: any world-famous mother who would post a sure-to-be-widely-noticed photo of her son on social media, sarcastically insinuating that his junk is undersized, doesn’t deserve to have custody of him. That may seem a petty detail, but to me it goes to the very heart of Madonna’s dealings with ALL the males in her life: Either they go with the program – HER program – or she emasculates them in public.

  4. PK says:

The very first thing that judge should have done – several months ago, in fact – is place a gag order on all parties involved. Too bad the NY state supreme court appears to have jurisdiction instead of family court, where by law the seedy details of this stuff is kept out of the press.

It’s rather telling that Madonna actually tried to have Ritchie arrested. Not to mention very sad. I feel bad for that kid.

  5. Pri says:

What about David Banda, he is in NYC with Madonna, or LDN with Guy?

    • Tiffany says:

The custody arrangement is still in place for David. This one is different because Rocco wanted to stay with Guy.

  6. roses says:

Good to hear he’s enrolled in school some media said he wasn’t

  7. paolanqar says:

Poor kid. This is getting uglier by the day.

  8. kri says:

I know it takes two, but she still comes off as the bigger a$$hole. No wonder he ran away. Poor David. He’s probably got a hidden backpack and is surreptitiously checking flights to London.

    • Jess says:

They both come off as bad as eachother. Guy is just more conventional but he’s just as big an egotistical douche.

  9. Jess says:

Battle of the giant egos continue! The two of them should do a remake of who is afraid of Virginia wolf.

  10. Jaded says:

Those two never should have procreated. I hope Rocco comes out the other end of this with his head together.

    • swak says:

Sounds like he’s trying to get a handle on it. He understands that this shouldn’t be played out in public.

  11. NGBoston says:

Honestly, it took a NYC Judge to tell these 2 to knock of the drama?

It’s all been said before: They both have huge egos, Ritchie is a Douche Canoe who legit went for broke in his divorce settlement, Madge suffers from NPD (amongst other things) and my hopes are at the end of the day-Rocco stays in school and with whichever parent offers him the most stability.

Grow the hell up, both of you!

    • Azurea says:

No hope for them, really. Their characters are set in stone. NPD is untreatable, for the very reason that the person thinks they are always correct. I jnow it’s much more complicated than that, but that’s the gist.

Madonna is the WORST kind of narcissist. The worst. Rocco will pay a heavy price for disobeying & rebelling against his control freak of a mother. She will continue to manipulate, and humiliate him all while playing out the role of the victim to the media. I’m glad he got away, but he will, for sure, be completely cut off financially until he gets in line. And if he chooses a career in media she will likely sabotage it out of spite. You will see her youngest kids jump ship as soon as they realize how terrible she is. Lourdes got lucky, since she’s probably considered ‘the golden child’ & can do no wrong. Most narcissist die alone. & all Madge will have in the end are the yes men she employs to blow smoke up her ass. The brown nosers that continue to tell this 60 year old mother of four that it’s hip to wear thongs & grills on stage.
