Khloe Kardashian wears mascara, a bold lip & cute outfits for her workouts

khloe1

Khloe Kardashian covers the May issue of Shape Magazine. I actually like the simplicity of this cover image, but Khloe did not like it. Shortly after the cover was revealed, Khloe took to Twitter to complain, writing: “Love Shape mag & I’m thrilled to be on the cover but we took so many better cover images. I wish they would have used the other set ups over that simple grey look…. But how f–king crazy that me… ‘The fat one’ is on the cover of Shape!!! Ha!” Just my opinion: while Khloe’s face looks jacked, as always, she looks prettier when the styling is less-is-more. Kim’s the same way. But both Kim and Khloe prefer to be heavily styled. Anyway, here are some highlights from Khloe’s Shape interview:

She loves her shape: “I love my shape because I’ve earned every curve. I work hard in the gym to get it. But I also loved my shape before, when I was even curvier. I was always incredibly comfortable in my skin. Everybody else saw me in a different way, but I didn’t see myself that way. I still wore bodycon dresses back then; I didn’t cover up with a muumuu. Today I put in the work to get the curves I have and every bit of firmness. I feel empowered and badass that I was able to accomplish everything I have.”

Burn off a bad mood: “When Lamar was in the hospital, I stopped doing the one thing I really needed: exercise. The gym takes all the anxiety away when I’m overwhelmed or stressed out. Now I’m back to three days a week with Gunnar and turning exercise into a habit again… This morning, I couldn’t go to the gym, so I did 30 minutes on the treadmill, and now I feel so happy. It clears my mind of all the crap and puts me in a really good mood.”

Figuring a diet that works: “Sticking with a regular workout routine definitely affects my diet. When I’m mindful about exercising, I’m mindful about the fuel I’m putting in my body. And I find that when I work out in the morning, I want to make better eating choices for the rest of the day. My biggest mistake when I’m really busy is that I tend to skip breakfast and end up starving or bingeing on fast food. That’s why I always keep Justin’s Almond Butter packs in my car. Otherwise, though, I am a creature of habit and stick with the same foods. I like a banana and almond butter for breakfast, a protein shake after my workout, Chinese chicken salad for lunch, and steamed veggies and chicken for dinner. I gave up dairy, and that totally changed my body, but it’s the hardest thing for me to stop eating, because I love cheese.”

Looking good at the gym: “When I buy a cute outfit, I’m superexcited to go to the gym the next day. And when I look good at the gym, I’m inspired to do an extra squat or an extra lunge. Just because you’re going to work out, you don’t have to look like a slob. I also always wear hoop earrings; they’re like my security blanket. I’m inspired to do an extra squat or an extra lunge. People laugh at me, but why not? They make me feel more dressed up. I also wear makeup when I work out. I put on a tinted moisturizer, mascara, and cherry lip balm, and fill in my eyebrows. If I feel cuter with a little lip color and mascara, why should anybody else care?”

She goes on to recommend wearing waterproof mascara and a “bold lip” to the gym, and I feel like I’m living in the Twilight Zone. I know some ladies wear makeup to the gym (CB wears a little bit), but I think Khloe is taking it way too far. Just my opinion. Unless you’re going to the gym to meet guys, who even cares if you’re wearing a cute workout outfit or a face full of makeup? You know what makes me work harder at the gym? When all of my vanity is stripped away and I’m just focusing on the workout (I also work harder at the gym when it’s an ice box, just FYI). It wouldn’t even matter if I wore makeup to the gym, I would sweat it off in under 30 minutes. And I hate this feeling that it should be expected of women that we have to “look good” at the gym. Who cares?

Is anybody surprised by this? We all know that most of her “workout” happens in a plastic surgeon’s office so what she wears to the gym is pretty irrelevant.

    • Blackcat says:

Yeah, how she “earned” the money to have a plastic surgery Dyson her fat to make those curves.

“I was always incredibly comfortable in my skin.” That makes perfect sense. I totally get that. Her comfort=jiffy pop buttocks and Vienna sausage lips.

      • Kitten says:

I always laugh at how every woman in this family tries to present this image of being body-positive and curve-embracing whilst getting their parts rearranged and altered more than a custom-made car.

        Such a silly charade.

    • Zwella Ingrid says:

I want to see actual footage of a gym workout. Then I will believe it.

    • Anne tommy says:

I get tired of listening to how hard she worked and the effort she put in, does she want an effing medal? Women work hard and put effort into much more important things all the time and don’t go round in the glow of self (or selfie) satisfaction that Khloe does.

    • Nerdista says:

Dude, I’m the same as her. Earrings, makeup, cute clothes. AND I’m a good person. Whatever gets you to the gym, EFF everyone else.

  2. kri says:

“Kardashian Wears Lipstick,Talks About Self”. Wow. Another day that ends in “Y”. They are so fortunate that most of us like to dislike them so much. It’s the only reason they are still around. P.S. how do you earn ass implants? Do they have Butt Bucks r something? Each time you get fillers you earn Butt Bucks towards a new ass? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  3. SleepyJane says:

One of her nostrils looks like it’s collapsing. Could be the photoshop…

  4. Irene says:

The bold lip is going a little far, but I always wear waterproof mascara and a lip stain to the gym. My lashes are blond and my lips are really pale, so if I don’t at least wear those, I look like a corpse, and then my mind keeps wandering to how sickly I look the whole time because there are mirrors everywhere and I can’t get into a good groove.

    • xpresson says:

I’m like you… i wear a bit of mascara and a bit of lip gloss to keep my dry lips hydrated. Very natural though. I also like to wear nice comfortable workout clothes. Nothing wrong with that.

  5. WTW says:

Kaiser, I absolutely agree that women shouldn’t feel pressured to look sexy or whatever at the gym. Reminds me of this essay: http://www.racked.com/2016/3/7/11171900/in-defense-of-sweats-gym-athleisure

  6. Ayra. says:

Her face is so messed up, woah. It’s interesting how her body isn’t toned, like at all.

  7. Candy says:

Gosh, I’m with you…. I don’t care about looking good at the gym. I sweat hard and feel so disgusting so the last thing on my mind is being cute. I have never worn makeup to work out

    • Mare says:

If you were going to the gym just for a photo op, you’d wear make up, too. She’s not wearing makeup because it motivates her, it’s for pics. This is the only family that leaves the gym without a drop of sweat on them.

    • Ange says:

She can do what she wants but I would hate having a face full of makeup on at the gym, it couldn’t feel nice on (or be good for) your skin. I always say ‘i workout to look good, I don’t look good to workout.’

  8. swak says:

Waterproof mascara is all good and that but as a person who wears contact lens it was recommended, by my optometrist, that I don’t wear waterproof mascara. If it gets in the eye it doesn’t dissolve and could cause problems. That being said, make up of any kind would be off in 10 minutes because of the way I sweat (not that I wear make up at all).

  9. HH says:

When she says “better cover images” does she mean the ones that don’t include her? If I was Shape, this would go to print with no one on the cover or someone else. So ungrateful.

    • swak says:

No, she wants the image she wants and doesn’t like it (just like with her show) if anyone disagrees with her.

  10. littlemissnaughty says:

That’s why I run and don’t set foot in a gym anymore. It got to the point where I was the only one not looking “cute” and it did nothing for my motivation. Outside nobody even looks at you. I can’t wear makeup during runs at all because it just melts off. Except during the week after work, I wipe everything off except the waterproof mascara. It mostly stays where it belongs.

Since this entire interview and spread are about her body, I’ll say it. Her body look great. The Photoshop is done well and her butt looks almost human. She has really great shoulders, I never noticed.

    • Runcmc says:

I’m a runner too (training for my 13th marathon and aiming to qualify for Boston, so I take it plenty seriously) and I put together super cute runnin outfits to get out there and train. Difference is it is for ME. I feel more confident when I feel I look good and it helps me perform better. I’ve been doing it since my school/college days- I used to dress up for tests too. There’s something about looking like a slob/not putting effort that makes me personally feel blah and I don’t do as well as I could.

I don’t judge other people for their choices, I just do what works for me.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Don’t get me wrong, I like a cute running top as much as the next person but makeup is just not feasible or comfortable for me.

  11. KiddVicious says:

Good for her, I think it’s great that she’s taken control of her health. But seriously, bold lipstick at the gym? Does she not sweat? I’d have that stuff smeared all over my face by the end of the workout. Who cares what you look like at the gym, no one is looking at you, they’re all too busy looking at themselves in the mirrors.

  12. Sam says:

How much of their lives must be spent primping? Like, I must think it’s at least a few hours a day. I amaze myself when I think about the mindless stuff I do and what I could do with that time otherwise. I can’t imagine looking back on my life and thinking, “I spent 10.6 years doing makeup.” Or something like that.

  13. Kelly says:

I can imagine the pose she wanted: buns up.

  14. jessoutwest says:

Of course she’s disappointed in that cover, it’s not ass first!

  15. brooksie says:

I’m all for wearing whatever makes you feel your best when working out. HOWEVER, if anyone walked into a spin class wearing a bold red lip, I’d lose it.

  16. M says:

I must admit I do put a little on, but not to impress anyone. The gym is full of mirrors and I guess my self esteem is low enough that I struggle to see myself ‘warts and all’ next to girls who have naturally perfect skin and/or are wearing full make up – it makes me feel terrible about myself and I lose any motivation I may have had.

  17. meme says:

ugh. there’s no escaping these wretched people.

  18. me says:

She’s just upset because they didn’t photoshop her pic to death.

  19. FingerBinger says:

Vapid. A gym shouldn’t be a fashion show. The women at my gym don’t have on makeup or hoop earrings. Half of them look like they rolled out of bed.

  20. LA says:

Listen- Im not Kardsahian apologist, in fact…I think I dislike them more than most. But, whatever she wants to wear to the gym is her business. If it makes her feel good, Im glad she does it. We all have a little extra pep in our step when we look good, and I really think its disingenuous to pretend to be above that.

  21. paolanqar says:

She was so proud of her ‘before body’ that she went to mama’s surgeon and butchered it.
    Seriously.
Do people even buy this crap?

No one in their right mind and with working eyes would ever believe that she ‘earned’ that body in the gym.

  22. JenniferJustice says:

She really looks like her mother. I don’t see that so much with the other girls/women. But Kloe looks very much like a younger Kris.

  23. knower says:

Khloe’s nose gets more of a workout in the locker room than her body does in the actual gym.

That’s her true weigh loss secret 😀

  24. Lostara says:

Ähem. During the week, mascara and lipstick are still on from the day at work. But even if I go on a Sunday, I add mascara and lipstick. And yes, sometimes even a “bold” lipstick – that just depends on my mood. And I wear nice and good looking outfits. Colours must be fitting together for example. When I started at the gym, I wore my old grey fencing shoes. But I didn’t like grey shoes to purple tights – now I have black shoes, they fit to every outfit.

And yes, there are people entering the spin class or other classes wearing make-up and bold lipstick. That is not always down to “wanting to look sexy” – some people simply come to the gym directly after work. Or they just like to dress and look like that. Nothing wrong with that.

And no, I don’t go to the gym for the guys – I am a happy single. But – I HATE looking like a slob. I NEVER look like a slob – no matter where I go or what I do. Even now, at home at my computer I don’t look like a slob.
