Lily-Rose Depp wears Chanel to Cannes premiere: lovely or too mature?

I wonder if my opinion of Lily-Rose Depp will change over time, as she grows into her second-generation celebrity. Like, I used to roll my eyes at Willow Smith and now I genuinely enjoy her as a unique and fashion-forward young woman. Will it be the same with Lily-Rose? Because right now I want to tell her to stand up straight and stop with the pout-face. These are photos from Friday night’s premiere of The Dancer at Cannes. Lily-Rose wore Chanel, obviously, because she’s a second-generation face of Chanel. I definitely think Karl Lagerfeld has been phoning it in with the latest Chanel creations, and this is no different. As for Lily-Rose’s costar, Soko wore Giambattista Valli Fall 2016. Even though it looks too Victorian, I almost like it.

Here’s Rebecca Hall at the premiere of The BFG on Saturday night. This dress is Dior Spring 2015 Couture and I hate it. I hate the length, I hate the colors, I hate the cut (it’s too tight in the bust). This is just bad.

Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw walked the carpet for the premiere of The BFG (which he directed) on Saturday. Capshaw’s latest haircut has been discussed a lot over the past few months – she had this hairstyle (complete with thick baby bangs) in February, at the BAFTAs and the Oscars. I hoped that after those appearances, someone would have told her that this is not the style for her. No one did. And so she’s still strutting those baby bangs at Cannes. Fine, I’ll do it, you guys: Kate, you need to do something else with your hair. Please.

Speaking of bangs trauma, when did Paz Vega get a Beatles bowl cut? And why did she decide to only curl up the front part? There are 80-year-old women with this exact hairstyle. The dress is Stephane Rolland Spring 2016 Couture and it’s pretty bad too.

What on earth did Kate do to her face? Fillers perhaps? And yes, those bangs seriously need to go. They are by no means flattering on her.

    • Skyblue says:

Baby bangs aside, what happened to Kate’s face? I wouldn’t have recognized her. Wow!

    • Jacqueline says:

      She looks like Betsy Johnson!

      • Arock says:

        She totally does!!

      • Anners says:

That was my first thought, too! I’m in the minority here, but I really like baby bangs. It may not be the most flattering look for her, but I love how fun she looks.

      • Carol says:

She so does!!! But why would anyone want to copy Betsy Johnson’s look? It looks good on Betsy Johnson for a variety of reasons but it looks completely moronic on Kate. Kate needs a whole make over.

      • JenYfromTheBlok says:

Yep, it’s the dress me bessie Betsy Johnson bangs and plastic surgery too, sad to say. I was almost talked into those lips by an aesthetician. She kept saying, “you need a shadow above your lips”. I kept thinking, “right. Like Daffy Duck’s?” Geez it was almost convincing!

    • lisa says:

i was assuming that the awful bangs were supposed to draw my eye away from the awful work she got

    • Khaveman says:

Is this a wig? I hope she’s not fighting an illness.

  2. PHD Gossip says:

Kate and Paz are sporting wigs.

  3. anniefannie says:

OMG!! Poor Kate Capshaw! She used to look so soft and pretty! Aging is rough! And I’m on the that’s a wig wagon…

    • Esmom says:

Aging is rough but she really couldn’t have picked a less flattering hairstyle. It does look like a wig. I think better hair would improve her looks tremendously.

      • Jaded says:

It’s not the aging that’s rough, it’s the trying to hide it with surgery and fillers that’s rough, and pathetic.

    • lizzie says:

it is a wig and it is hiding plastic surgery scars for sure….sadly she looks terrible. LA is a bitch.

  4. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I find Lily Rose irritating as well, but I think she lacks appropriate parental supervision, so I feel sorry for her, too. If you don’t let your child do things when they are way too young, they won’t make fools of themselves by imitating adults with that slouchy, just too too bored stance and face. I can’t say the dress is too mature for her, because she looks like she has the soul of a bitter old woman. It’s sad.

    • Esmom says:

Yes, I really don’t know what to make of her anymore. At first I thought she might just be bratty but she really seems to exude no joy whatsoever and that’s now striking me as really sad.

      • tracking says:

        +1

      • jinni says:

If you actually saw her in her interview you’d know she isn’t a sad kid. Is she supposed to walk around with a smile slapped on her face at all time? Some peoples resting face looks sad, some even look angry when they aren’t really feeling either one of those feelings. I could get if she came off aloof or something like that in interviews, but she comes off as a regular kid in video interviews, so I feel like people are just being hard on her for no reason.

      • Dangles says:

Good point, Jinni. Some people don’t have naturally happy looking faces and expecting them to go around with painted on smiles is like expecting them to walk around with their hands up in the air.

    • Pamels says:

I say watch some interviews with her, she seems like a normal kid:

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She did look happy and excited in that interview. Very refreshing. Maybe she just thinks it’s cool to look so slouchy on the red carpet?

      • manta says:

I just browsed through some pictures of this red carpet on a French website and she was grinning, laughing, really happy to be there. But I guess showing these ones would upset the “pouting brat” narrative.

      • M.A.F. says:

Maybe she is just a slouch. She is also a teenager for peet’s sake.

    • Jegede says:

She seems to be following her mom’s French Lolita path.

Right down to much older boyfriend as a teenager.

    • JenYfromTheBlok says:

I’m not sure about her actual personality, but she has definitely emulated her mother’s bored to sh*t facial expression.

  5. Esmom says:

The pattern/colors in Hall’s dress reminds me of one I had from the Tweeds catalog in the early 90s. Even thought I wore it a lot, thank goodness no photos exist of me in it.

  6. Allie May says:

Love the Victorian dress. As for the rest of the dresses, no one could pay me enough to wear them.

  7. MB says:

Oh gosh. Did not recognize Kate Capshaw. She looks like Betsy Johnson!
And Soko looks like Brian Molko wearing a dress.
This post has made me sad 🙁

  8. Patricia says:

Soko WILL NOT wash her hair. It’s incredible. I loved her yellow outfit yesterday but when I zoomed in to catch the details I saw that her hair was an oily mess. Same with this hairstyle. And she looks like she hasn’t washed her face in ages. I do not get it. I actually love her energy and her styling (on the red carpet, not a fan of her street wear).

  9. tracking says:

I used to think a truly beautiful woman can get away with anything in terms of haircuts. Paz Vega shows that is not true.

  10. oliphant says:

    MARK RYLANCE!!!!! *swoon*

    • Annetommy says:

There’s some serious frock atrocities going on, but Mark looks so cheery in his hat. He’s been a respected thesp for so long, but it’s great to see him enjoying his fairly recent film fame.

      • oliphant says:

he always looks so happy to be wherever he is- what a pro 🙂 enjoying his very well deserved success

  11. Jayna says:

Kate Capshaw’s hair on her, there are no words.

  12. Jayna says:

I adore Rebecca Hall as an actress, but that gown is a big fat no.

    • Jegede says:

Funny thing is the word here in London was that the recently wed Hall was pregnant.

      Looks like a no.

      • amilu says:

Not necessarily. Blake Lively went from looking very pregnant to barely or not pregnant at all in a matter of weeks. Formal wear can be pretty forgiving apparently!

  13. Amy says:

    Lovely.

  14. MrsBPitt says:

I would not have recognized Kate Capshaw, if I hadn’t read her name….WTH did she do to herself? This is not just aging….she has Bride of Frankenstein face, but with a worse hair style than Frankenbride! Just….WOW…

    • Jegede says:

I actually feel bad for her.

Its the same with Heather Locklea,r when your beauty has defined you for so long, it becomes ALL you are about. You hold on to it like a rotweiller if you can no matter the cost.

  15. MrsBPitt says:

It doesn’t help that Lily Rose LOOKS like she is about twelve years old…so, yes, this outfit does look a tad to old for her. But, I hate, hate, hate, those curtains that SOKO wore….

  16. kri says:

Lily Rose has a face made for the camera. Her bone structure is just a gift from heaven. Good lord.

  17. SilkyMalice says:

I think she looks lovely and fine. I don’t see a bad attitude coming off her at all.

  18. KiddVicious says:

Wow! I did not recognize Kate Capshaw. It looks like she shaved down her chin so her face is more square. I also didn’t realize she is now 62.

  19. Detnow359 says:

Capshaw’s hair is a wig and she doesn’t look well. Perhaps she is privately battling cancer. While I think she’s had work done her face doesn’t quite look like bad fillers are the real issue but instead a medical condition.

    • Magnoliarose says:

That is my take. She looks ill like she’s going through some very rough treatments of some kind. It’s obviously a wig.

  20. Justwastingtime says:

Yup, Kate is wearing a wig, and I don’t think it’s plastic surgery or fillers. Hope she is okay.

  21. Magnoliarose says:

I don’t like any of the looks. I’m still not sold on Lily either but we will see. I’m certain that terrible movie about the yoga whatever won’t help change my view.

  22. Zuzus girl says:

Lil yRose looks like another pretty dead-eyed celebrity spawn.
Rebecca Hall and Paz Vega (sans odd hair) look like a breath of fresh air.
    Kate Capeshaw….no words.

    • Timbuktu says:

I also feel like it doesn’t help that she is a spitting image of her mother. Granted, I was never a huge fan of Vanessa, so I’m not sure the world needs a Vanessa 2.0

  23. Amelie says:

Lily Rose inherited her mom’s “pouty” expression. Vanessa looks exactly like that too with her neutral face. It’s just how she looks when she’s not smiling. She is very lively and animated in interviews so she is not some pouty teenager who mopes constantly. It’s like that actress who plays Margaery Tyrell on GoT. She once explained she has a lopsided smile but everyone accuses her of smirking.

  24. serena says:

Lily-Rose gets on my nerves, I know she’s just a teenager with famous parents and all, but I can’t help it. She needs someone to tell her what do to and how, damn hire a manager or a good team, since her parents don’t seem to have that much influence on her.

    • Queenie says:

Pretty sure she wouldn’t be landing all these movie projects, magazine covers, fashion deals, and interviews without a good team. She is smart and she knows what she’s doing.

  25. Queenie says:

Love Lily-Rose and can’t wait to see more of her. <3
