Britney Spears opened the BBMAs with a medley of her hits: amazing or…?

FFN_RIJ_BILLBOARDS_SET1_052216_52069190

This year’s Billboard Music Awards opened with a performance (I’m using that word loosely) by Britney Spears. Brit walked the red carpet too, in this gloriously pantsless ensemble by Reem Acra. Technically, this is a “romper.” The boots are Schutz. Did she look comfortable? Absolutely not. Do I think the frosted lipstick was a good idea? No, I do not. But her body looks great, for what it’s worth.

Britney won the Millenium Award for her 17-years-plus in the music industry. She changed music, for sure. She deserves to be recognized, absolutely. And I know that she probably wanted to perform for her fans. But the performance was… no bueno. I feel like a bitch for being mean, but OH MY GOD. The lip syncing for so bad!! The dance moves were so uncomfortable. By the time Brit went to the stripper pole, it was like she just forgot all of her dance moves.

Britney changed into this Charbel Zoe two-piece after her performance.

More photos from the event… here’s Halsey in Fausto Puglisi. I kind of wonder if Halsey’s “thing” is wearing oddly revealing clothes to awards shows. Is she that artist?

Speaking of scantily-clad ladies, Ciara wore this Philipp Plein chain dress on the carpet, then she changed about a million times as co-host of the show. Her body is amazing, and if I had her figure, I would be showing it off too. But I’m starting to feel sorry for Russell Wilson. He gets to look at her, but he can’t eat the cake. Also: Ciara doesn’t need those awful bangs.

I like Priyanka Chopra but she was overdressed in this Versace, plus I dislike this shade of blue.

Britney looks bizarre, what is with her expressions? She looks like she’s clenching her jaw like crazy. I know some antipsychotic meds can cause jaw clenching after years of use. Poor woman. She just doesn’t look like she’s doing very well right now.

    • C. says:

Her smile is beyond fake. It freaks me out.

    • the_blonde_one says:

      She has Kim Richards expressions

    • Pinky says:

She is not all there, there. They need to retire her to some green pastoral estate and let her live out her days watching her children grow up.

Her whole exploitation is so creepy and tragic. The frozen child actor smile, like she’s mentally frozen in that time too. No one should exploit her anymore.

      • Shaunna says:

Britney’s Vegas show sells out continuously and she performs four nights a week. I have heard Britney is shy and uncomfortable at these award type of events.

      • Aren says:

I’m glad someone else notices that’s her “child star smile”. It just looks creepy now because she’s old, but she’s smiling the same way she was taught to as a little girl.

      • J-Who says:

I know, right? This industry is responsible ( as are her parents) for what happened to Brittany. They literally rotted her mind for the almighty dollar and didn’t give a rat’s @ss about her mental well being. Seeing this just makes my point that the industry still doesn’t care as long as the money rolls in. She has no business performing like a circus animal for these people anymore. She deserves to be left alone and live her life away from those jerks.

    • jesb says:

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a total Britney apologist “leave Britney alone!”, but I’m not sure if she’s aging and looking more and more like Cathy griffin or Cathy griffin is getting more and more plastic surgery to look like Britney Spears. Hmm?

      • Cran says:

I do wish her well but ii is long past time for Britney to retire. She seems highly engaged with her children. Other than that she seems to enjoy making sure she has a rocking body. I can’t imagine why anyone would pay to see her show. She seems so lackluster at this point in her career. She doesn’t seem unwell in the ways I recall from years ago she just seems bored. She seems uncomfortable in crowds and I get the sense that she is more of an introvert than not. All that is well and good and she definitely has earned a well deserved retreat from the spotlight. I just don’t think she has a sense of herself other than BRITNEY SPEARS. It feels to me as if her life has been so strictly regulated for the past several years that any mental issues aside she doesn’t know how to function. I find that sadder than anything. I’m glad she has her kids because I really wonder where she would be without that joy in her life.

    • JenniferJustice says:

She’s always made bizarre faces, but honestly, I think it’s the latest nose job which pretty much shaved her nose down to nothing that completely changed her looks. I know you all probably get tired of me calling out the rhinoplasties, but I hate the women receive the “Most Beautiful Woman in the World” label from People Mag and such and they’ve had excessive work done so I don’t see how they should get praise for something they bought. Brittney hasn’t been deemed most beautiful of anything, but the endless surgeries have left her looking nothing like how she was introduced to us 20 years ago and I worry about her ability to make decisions when she’s proven to be unstable and unpredictable w/out medication. I worry she would continue tweaking to the point of unhealthy (she already has/does) and people just let her do it to placate her.

      • Samtha says:

I hate that nose job. Her nose was fine before, and this really ages her.

      • Palar says:

I don’t really see how people should win “most beautiful person in the world” for something they were born with. At least if they’ve bought it they’ve had some actual involvement in creating it. Otherwise it should be the parents getting the award!

  2. lower-case deb says:

the clenched jaw smile reminds me of how Kate Middleton sometimes smiles.

meanswhile, the strap on Priyanka’s dress looks like something taken off my nylon sling duffel bag.

or like a deconstructed tent wrapped around someone.

  3. KB says:

Russell Wilson is divorced, right? Is he born again or did he wait until marriage with his first wife as well?

    • V4Real says:

I’m not sure about that but he and his ex-wife were high school sweethearts.

Unlike Kaiser I think he is getting to eat Ciara’s cake now. I think he said that they were waiting until marriage or at least the engagement before sex; and they are engaged.

    • HH says:

Born again or not, it seems odd to me that a divorced man who is waiting for sex, is perfectly fine with a wife dressing THAT scantily clad. I’m fine with it (albeit she seems to have upped the ante and it’s starting to come off a little thirsty). I’m not saying he should control his wife, but you’d think someone so “pious” would look for same in someone else. It’s just seems to be one of those weird religious inconsistencies.

      • Audrey says:

She seems to wear nothing but this sort of dress. Always showing lots of leg and side boob. It gets old, she’s a beautiful woman and would look great in so many other styles.

Yes there are religious inconsistencies. But overall I don’t really care and they should just keep what happens(or doesn’t happen) to themselves. We really don’t need to know.

    • Detnow says:

He waited with his first one, too. She eventually went on and cheated on him after the married.

  4. Mia V. says:

It’s sad to see that Britney lost her dance moves, but it’s nice to see her well and winning a very deserved award for all the success she made. #ItsBritneyBitch

    • Goats on the Roof says:

She’s medicated and has had at least a couple knee surgeries, right? I don’t know why people expect her to still dance like she did at 20.

      • Liv says:

This. Nice to see something from her old self again. And her show was fine given the circumstances. #britneyforever

      • Murphy says:

Its the meds. When she’s even a little bit off her dancing is all out of whack. I think her nervousness through off the delicate balance.

      • V4Real says:

She wasn’t that great of a dancer at 20 either. I don’t think it’s just the knee surgery, the girl just doesn’t have staying power to perform. Enough of the walking across the stage, do a couple of awkward dance moves, walk across the stage some more, hit a few more awkward looking dance moves.

Did anyone see her Vegas show, it was cringe worthy. The knee surgery can be used as an excuse for her lower body but even when she’s doing upper body dance movements while the lower half is not in motion she is awkward.

But I will give her this; her body looks fantastic.

      • Pepper says:

I don’t think anyone’s expecting her to dance like she used to (she was never a great dancer anyway, just average back-up dancer good). But most former dancers, even those with truly crippling injuries, still move well even when they can’t do every movement. Britney on the other hand makes everything look awkward and forced these days. There’s zero energy, zero flow, zero freedom. She doesn’t even know what to do with her hands.

You can see the effort and thought needed to hit her marks, even when she literally just has to take a step. It’s like watching someone take their first intermediate dance class. She’s just about managing it, but it’s not pretty.

      • Bridget says:

Britney was good, though her dancing didn’t really hold up well over time (if that makes sense). Returning to her videos now, there’s a lot more posing than dancing than I remember. But she did blow out her knee a couple of times, and of course the drugs she’s on now have changed how she performs as well. She seems like she’s spent the last decade in a haze.

      • HH says:

Knee surgery!!! That must be it. I’ve noticed her dancing seems to be all hand work and she’s fine when standing it place, but in any rotation or leg work, and she seems to really start trying to find her balance. Also, maybe its her facial expressions (or lack thereof), but her lip synching is WAY more apparent now. I also hate that she lip synchs “Work B*tch.” It’s like, girl, you are TALKING in that song. She should at least be able to do that live.

It seems like everyone is rooting for Britney out of sympathy, but I don’t think she really needs to return to the stage. I want her to win personally, but she’s already won professionally. I’m gonna get hellfire for this, but considering her mediocre talent, she’s had a GREAT career.

      • MC2 says:

Forget the dancing part- it was the lack of energy, being ready before cues, being “off” and general weirdness that people are feeling. I don’t know if it was caused by meds, pain or whatever but it seemed like something was going on in her head (or not going on) and she was low energy & not all there.
I hope this was just an off night and she is doing well over all. There was an MTV award show years ago where she hadn’t preformed in a long time and then came out and………everyone was worried about her. The performance reminded me of that one.

      • Goo says:

        Bless her heart… Retire!

      • Ronaldinhio says:

I don’t. I expect her to have some legal say in running her own life and to do the stuff she really enjoys…she has certainly done her time.
She looked so awkward and nervous that it felt like watching a Britney hostage

        I’m a Brit lover btw

  5. swak says:

Brittany looks so uncomfortable in that second picture. It’s like she’s thinking “Can we get done with this now?”.

  6. Locke Lamora says:

Britney just looks sad. I can’t even shade her. Whoever takes care of her ( her father?) should let her retire and live a happy life far away from the spotlight.

Was Halsey in a desert for 3 years, because my God, is she thirsty?

Ciara’s dress is just a shiny sheet, she might as well come naked next time. And the duck face she does looks stupid. I like the bangs.

    • Jwoolman says:

Britney might need performing for herself, it gives her a schedule. She has always been self-driven in the past, although her illness and medications interfere now. So I think her dad especially tries to make sure she has enough to do, she might not do so well otherwise. I don’t think it’s about the money at least for her dad.

Her kids need their dad, not to be isolated out in the boonies with their mom. She loves them, but she can’t be much of a real parent especially as they get older. Their dad is normal and was there for them when their mom just couldn’t be.

  7. edith says:

she doesnt even move, her whole body is like a piece of wood…. britbrit u ok girl?

  8. Lindy79 says:

She always lip synced even in her peak but the Slave 4 U bit just made me a little sad because you are bound to think back to the VMAs with the snake, reminds me of how good her dancing used to be.
Still, at least she looks healthier and happier

    • Kitten says:

Oh I know…that was such an iconic performance and that was when she was at the top of her game.

She looks very fit right now, which is nice to see. At least she’s taking care of herself.

    • MC2 says:

And the video for Slave for You was so good too. She just seems to have lost the vavavoom & fluidity in her performing.

    • Erica_V says:

I thought she hit all her Slave For You choreography last night. I’m in the minor I guess because I think she did a great job.

    • Carol says:

I just saw her billboard performance and I didn’t think it was that bad. At least not as bad as that MTV performance years back. She seemed happy on stage albeit a little clunky. I forgot how much I liked her Toxic song.

  9. Momoko says:

Britney looks tired. She looks like a person who needs to work as a performing artist, rather than wants to work. It isn’t just a comparison to her youth, you can see from her performance that she’d rather have a desk job.

  10. BendyWindy says:

I thought Britney was the best she’s been in years. There were some sluggish moments, but there were a few when she seemed almost her old self.

    • Aurelia says:

I too saw glimmers of the old bit bit spunk, like at the end of slave for you.

  11. Heylee says:

I liked it. I really did. It was so close to being good that I filled in the blanks in my head. I don’t know what her Vegas show looks like? Same, better, or worse? I want to see it now though. <3 the Brit

  12. paolanqar says:

Her body looks banging but her wig and the makeup + her face expression make her look crazy and scary. i love Britney but she looks awful here.

  13. InvaderTak says:

I feel really sorry for Brit Brit. Her whole situation doesn’t seem to be of her choosing and it’s gotten gross to me. I can’t help but get the impression that she’s being horribly exploited. I hope I’m really wrong, but I doubt I am. That whole outfit looks terrible on her and she looks embarrassed about it.

  14. Aarika says:

Britney’s performance was painful. All her issues show up in her face and eyes no matter how good her body looks. Whoever is pushing her to keep doing this is cruel.

  15. Mimz says:

WTF is the turquoise dress/ensemble Brit is wearing? I can’t imagine why they couldn’t conceal her nude panties there. NO! FAIL!
I also hated the romper or whatever. Have yet to see the performance but seems like people are raving about it. Will update this shortly after watching it…

  16. NewWester says:

That second photo of Britney in the blue dress, she looks like Kaley Cuoco from BBT.

  17. The New Classic says:

Britney always looks terrified and a bit confused on red carpets. She is obviously still unwell but the people around her prop her up and keep her out performing when she obviously should be allowed to be a private citizen again. It’s sad.

  18. jess1632 says:

Halsey looks tragically average for being on a red carpet…they all actually look pretty bad in this post, besides Caira

  19. Bom says:

Well, she performes like she isn’t really there. Looks like she is thinking about the bills she has to pay. It’s so clear that somebody is exploiting her.

  20. Maria T. says:

It just occurred to me looking at her here – she is beginning to look a lot like Kim Richards. The grimace and the sad eyes. I hope she’s not being exploited or overmedicated. Poor kid.

  21. Spittair says:

Why, why did she feel the need to mess with her face? She’s giving me Joker vibes. I hope she’s alright.

  22. Amelia says:

I have to wonder if they’re adjusting her meds again? Britney had started to look really sharp and tight again with her Vegas residency, but here she looks like she’s struggling to run around and hit all her marks. Almost like a distraction? Maybe for a lack of adequate rehearsal? Maybe someday she can escape the yoke of her father’s conservatorship and live quietly with her children…only with her boys does she look genuinely happy 🙁

  23. LA says:

Brit makes me so sad. I hope she is performing again because she wants to (it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch- it’s the only life she knows). But either way, I just refuse to watch it.

    • MC2 says:

This story & thread is like witnessing an old, tired race horse getting whipped to come out of it’s stall for one more go. She even has blown out knees for chri!st sake. It’s just uncomfortable to watch and I get why you don’t.

  24. serena says:

What’s with the creepy crooked smile Brit?

  25. Easypeasy123 says:

That was about what I expected of Britney. She seemed to really be struggling with her wig in her face. Where was Hit Me One More Time?? She’s very fragile and I don’t think she would be doing these things if she didn’t want to.

  26. Margo S. says:

I really didn’t think it was so bad. Just watched it on here. Her lipsyncing was fine and her dancing was great. Can I remind you that she is on tons of meds to stabilize her condition so I think she did fab!

  27. JRenee says:

Maybe she hits tge mark at her Vegas show because of repetition. This performance make have taxed her because it’s not a part of her constant routine.
My heart bleeds forever for Brit!

  28. Embee says:

Ciara is so pretty it hurts.

I won’t comment on Brit except to say that I agree with her getting the award. She deserves the music industry equivalent of a purple heart for what she’s survived IMO (and no, I in no way think her trials are equivalent to combat it’s an analogy).

I think Halsey looks hot. Thirsty, too. 🙂

  29. SilkyMalice says:

My guess is that she loves to perform, and that her keeping busy and productive is healthy for her mentally. Anti-psychotics do weird things to your muscles/movements sometimes, so I wouldn’t expect her to be able to be as free and loose with her dancing, or to be able to move with the same ‘crispness’ and timing. But I thought she looked and did fine.

  30. Tifygodess24 says:

People are way too hypercritical of Britney and always looking for some kind of controversy (and no her dad isn’t whipping her and forcing her to work people) not to mention comparing her to her 18 year old self constantly. She has been through a public breakdown, multiple surgeries on her leg and she has also aged like the rest of us – so no she’s not going to be bouncing around and dancing like she used to. Her performance was great with all things considered. I have seen Britney live quite a few times and you know what you are in store for when you go to see her. Lots of hand dancing, lip syncing and running around the stage. As far as people constantly saying she should retire, have you ever considered that with everything she has going on, that being busy is what is saving her, or helping her? Not to mention she has said that in the past. She looked great last night and I just can’t knock a woman knowing the whole world has seen at her absolute worst and yet she still has the ball$ to come out and face everyone and do her thing.

    • Erinn says:

Yeah, I’m kind of with you on this one. I think the routine of performing regularly has given her something to keep going – especially early on following the breakdown. I can’t imagine she’d be doing all that well with nothing going on for her – so if performing keeps her mentally more stable/healthy, well good.

It’s a shame though, all around.

    • ladyE says:

Yes, it has been reported time and again that performing and the rehearsal schedule that goes along with performing is playing a big part in keeping her stable. Everyone blames her father, but honestly I think she must like doing this. She wouldn’t try this hard if she didn’t.

    • Wren says:

While I always cringe when I see red carpet pictures of her (it’s so visibly painful), I agree that she isn’t being “trotted out” simply to make money. It’s probably the best thing for her, in a sad way.

What would she do if she retired? Like really, what would she do? How would she spend her days? Performing and the structure that gives her life is all she’s ever known. Take it away and what’s left? She doesn’t know how to live a “normal life” and probably found the times where her life approached that state to be directionless and difficult.

    • Aren says:

You really think she can’t do anything else besides walking around a stage looking sad and confused?

      • Pepper says:

What do you think she’s capable of? She has severe mental health problems (I don’t think people understand just how ill she is, she’s nowhere near fully functioning), her education was poor and even when she was relatively well she could barely string a coherent sentence together. She’s not capable of looking after herself or her children without supervision.

Even if she was up to it, she way too famous to ever be a ‘normal’ person with a ‘normal’ job, and frankly, she does need money. Left to her own devices she was blowing tens of millions on Walmart and dollar store crap, marrying gold diggers, giving money to randoms trying to exploit her…One day her father will die, the conservatorship will break down, and she’ll be left to her own devices. She’s going to need a lot of cash when that happens otherwise she’ll be penniless very fast.

When she’s had breaks in the past, she’s gone off the rails. She needs something to do, and performing is all she’s set up to do.

  31. Cc says:

Ah, dear Britney, she tried her best. She breaks my heart a little because you can tell that she tries so hard to be as good as her old self while performing but she just can’t do it anymore (and that’s ok Britney!). Still I liked the Toxic part because she looked like she was actually enjoying herself and the crowd went wild.

  32. Julie A says:

I was expecting it to be really bad after that write up. There were some awkward moments, but there were also some fierce ones. I still enjoy watching her more than most other performers. I think it was good.

    • claire says:

It was pretty good. Especially considering what she’s going through and had to overcome. No, she doesn’t have the dance moves exactly down as when she was younger, and they’re not as fluid, but she’s doing great considering. I’m glad I saw the positive reaction online last night and saw the video myself before today. People here are reacting as if she gave another performance like that last awful MTV one, or whichever award show it was.

  33. PumpkinSpice says:

I think she is being waaayyyy over medicated at this point. What she went through years ago, seemed to be drug induced psychosis. And, yes, it canblead to permanent mental illness, but it is painful to watch her. I wonder if they even try to see how she does on a reduced medication schedule. My heart hurts for this woman. It must be horrible to be trapped in your mind. I feel bad for her. I think her family (Father) is just exploiting her to keep his pockets lined and fat. She is like a zombie, just going through the motions. My wish for her is to know true happiness again.

  34. Snowflake says:

When are they going to give Britney a more mature styling? Are they still going to be giving her loads of extensions, fake tan, and bimbo look when she’s in 50? Change it up, ffs! Same dated look. Lighten up on the extensions, give her a darker blond color, and back off the tan, it all looks fake as f%ck.

  35. Ball_Breaker says:

An award for using autotune 17 years? Shouldn’t Milli and Vanill be getting a “lip sync pioneer” or “we lip synced first, you’re welcome Britney” award?

    • Alarmjaguar says:

I do sometimes wonder how those guys feel now that lip syncing is totally taken for granted. Blame it on the rain

  36. Irene says:

I don’t understand, doesn’t she have an incredibly successful show in Vegas? How is that possible when this is the kind of performance she’s giving?

    • FingerBinger says:

If you’re a fan you want to see Britney perform. It doesn’t matter if she’s lip syncing

      • Irene says:

Yeah, she’s always lip-synced, that’s not what I meant. She at least seemed to know her own music back in the day, and could keep up with the beat, gave a great show. And considering she’d been performing, what, every day now for two years in Vegas? I expected something more. I thought she’d have it down pat by now. But she looked like she barely knew the steps, was basically lead around the stage by her backup dancers, and I kept waiting for her to fall she looked so unsure on her feet. She also seemed incredibly stiff, like she’d hurt her back or something. It was just sad. If I was a fan, I’d be very disappointed if that’s the show I paid for.

      • Sarah says:

Nah her Vegas show is different to this. Much better.

She has that down pat and does it multiple times a week. She probably just struggled learning a new routine to be honest!

  37. rosie says:

Her father should be ashamed of himself. He has the power to stop this spectacle.
Let her live her life with her kids in peace away from the spotlight. I wouldn’t make my dog preform if it was clearly unwell, never mind a woman who has million and could easily retire and find some kind of peace. Is it really worth the money! It’s truly sad.

  38. ladyE says:

That picture under her performance is not her smile (although her smile sometimes looks unhinged). That is her “goofy” face. She makes it all the time to be silly. She did it on x factor, she does it on instagram, on red carpets, etc. I think she does it when she’s nervous.

That said…her dancing is not bad. I find it odd that at her age dancing is more important than singing, though. She can obviously still sing (as much as she ever could), but I think dancing must be her real “love”.

I’m a huge Britney fan, and most accounts I’ve read are that Britney keeps performing because she needs that strict routine for her own sanity. It’s sad because obviously she also craves approval from the public.

  39. Freddy Spaghetti says:

I thought she was great! No, she’s not like she was at twenty, but for having two kids, a breakdown, and continuing mental issues, I think she is in a pretty good place. And why should she retire? She’s been performing her whole life. I don’t know what she’d do if that was taken from her.

  40. GingerCrunch says:

Don’t get the bangs hatred on Ciara at all!! In fact, I have a bit of bangs envy, as a lifelong bangs wearer myself. Sheesh! All this time I’ve been committing a horrible hairstyle faux pas??? I’ve said “bangs” too many times and it feels weird now.

  41. FingerBinger says:

How did Britney Spears change music? She followed what female artists like Madonna and Cher did before her.

    • Aren says:

But Britney was underage, so I guess it opened the door for a bunch of teenage ‘singers’ to be sexualized.

    • Pepper says:

I don’t think she personally changed music, but she was the start of an explosion of bubblegum pop in the early 2000’s. The actual trend has more to do with Max Martin, but Britney was the face of it and so many pop acts that came after her borrowed certain things from her.

  42. suzanne says:

I think people can stop expecting a reemergence of the 2003 Britney…it’s never going to happen. Britney won’t ever seem “normal” again, to those of us that saw her in her prime. I think she’s always going to be wavering between better and worse.

Mental health problems are a bitch. And child stardom isn’t easy either. I think she had the exacta of BAD in her life. 🙁

  43. me says:

I was cringing the whole time. It was bad and I actually felt sad for her.

  44. JenniferJustice says:

For what it’s worth, I get the impression nobody is forcing Britney to do anything. She wants to continue performing. She wants to keep doing her thing and she will forever have a loyal fanbase that are content with whatever she gives them. I do not think her father or anyone else is exploiting her. She continues “working” by choice and the routine of her Vegas show doesn’t seem to overwhelm her like touring and red carpets. She gets to keep being a “star” in a way that she can handle.

  45. jammypants says:

I thought it was good. Her moves are never going to be great, not after her injury.

  46. Bapril says:

I was SO disappointed I missed this performance simply because I knew it would be bad. She hasn’t been right since all that mess went down some years back with Kevin Federline, etc. I don’t know if she’s on anti-depressants and that just kinda keeps her subdued or what, but Lord have mercy.

    • Jwoolman says:

The mess predated her marriage to Federline. She was showing signs earlier. Federline isn’t a beast, she was just getting increasingly erratic and like many people, he had no idea what to do. She had pursued him, not the other way around. She was the one who had the power, not him – he was just one of her backup dancers. But he certainly came through for her and the kids when she was in such bad shape that the judge denied her visitation. Federline continued to allow visits anyway as long as one of her parents was with her. He worked closely with her parents to help her and the kids, and has never said a bad word against her. The amount of money he has received is tiny compared with expenses where they’ve lived, so he wasn’t getting hugely rich off of her.

    • Betti says:

Federline has proved himself to be a decent guy and a good father. Those kids seem like well adjusted children, he gave them a stable environment even if their mother couldn’t.

  47. Karla says:

This genuinely upsets me because I was such a huge fan of Britney as a girl and I still do and always will have a soft spot for her.

Although her vocal range was low I loved her voice and her aura, dance moves, charisma and IT factor just blew me away.

For a long time Brit was the hottest pop star in the entire world.

Still no female pop star has quite hit her peak.

But she is still so young and whether it’s surgery or drugs or mental health, she looks completely different now.

Then and now Britney are 2 different people.

I would love to know what ACTUALLY happened to Brit and what is actually going on with her now beyond the tabloid speculation.

    • Betti says:

Brit had that IT/X factor that many many other pop stars/actors lack (but think they had). She not have had the pipes of Christina but she had presence and she made you want to watch her again and again. The Rihanna’s, Demi Lovato’s had nothing on Britney in her prime.

She was pushed and was worked to hard by her management and parents, her mother is a classic stage mother. I remember watching a few those early Britney behind the scene programmes and Lynne was always in the background, push her. To be fair to her father, he’s doing a very good job of looking after her, i think the Vegas residency has been good for her. Its given her stability and as she only performs 4 times a week she has time to be with her children. She would be lost if she didn’t have some sort of outlet and performing is the only thing she knows how to do. She’ll never tour again and I don’t blame her.

      Get well Brit Brit.

  48. Jana says:

Wow, I guess I’m in the minority, but I thought her performance was incredible. And I am not a fan of her music AT ALL. Her dancing was great (simple, but she got the job done), and why is everyone throwing shade at lip syncing? If you’re dancing up a sweat like that, there’s no way she (or any dancing pop star) could sing and dance like that without getting seriously out of breath.

Again, I’m not a Britney fan, but this performance was pretty dang good.

    • Snowflake says:

Yeah, i thought it was great too

    • Pepper says:

The ‘you can’t sing while dancing’ thing really annoys me. Even amateurs manage it in musical theatre, and I’ve seen many Broadway shows that required at least a full hour of very complex choreography from the stars, while they sang perfectly to the back of the room. Every night.

Britney’s dance routine here was basic, nothing you don’t see in your average dance class. No one expects her to sing, she can barely hold a note while standing still, but a half decent singer/dancer should be able to manage it.

  49. PsychoCat says:

    Hi Lovelies,

A while back some one posted the theory that Lady Gaga was actually a new person hence the facial differences. I can’t help wondering if this really is Britney. Perhaps it’s a Britney impersonator?

    xxxx

  50. Jenn says:

The whole performance made me cringe

  51. jammypants says:

so, as a teen, I totally used to own the Live in Las Vegas HBO special Britney did. Watching it again, it still blew my socks off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl29pIC-vLo

I think Brit’s doing well for herself now, imo.

  52. Karla says:

I think the thing I notice most about Brit is her face. I’ve always found her so naturally stunning and she has this lolita/girl next door/sultry thing going on..

She is one woman who NEVER in a million years needed plastic surgery.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

Agreed. (about the never needing plastic surgery). Kim K and Megan Fox too.

  53. Karla says:

LA just seems to chew up and spit out beauty. I miss Brits old looks (no not the younger Brit, just the pre plastic surgery Brit)

  54. cakecakecake says:

Brit’s performance made me uncomfortable, its made me sad.
she was almost fumbling, but her back up folks had her back. Its like Brit had think about what was next and then it was off time.

she needs to retire, its all awkward and is shameful that she is still being thown out there.

  55. nikki says:

she looked great…but sorry same ole same ole music

  56. Otaku Fairy says:

She looks uncomfortable with public appearances like this, but I love the black costume.

  57. rose says:

I disagree. lol I thought she did great. She was stiff at the beginning but got into towards end of womanizer. I was like yas Brit Brit. I just chucked it to her being nervous in the beginning. Beside chick had 2 surgery and under medication. so im sure her movement was shaped as she was in her 20’s.

    keep it up Brit Brit.

  58. guest says:

For Ciara to be as rich as she is, she has horrrible wigs. They all look like she found then in a box at a wig store and grabbed the one on the bottom and combed it out.
Her hair is never on point ever.
Not that mines ever is but I’m not rich as hell.

  59. Sarah says:

I’m a big Britney fan and i saw her in Vegas and I think people expect too much from her! She’s pretty much never sung live… in the Vegas show they never show her up on any of the big screens around the stage – my thoughts were that her lip synching wouldn’t be so obvious and also they could swap someone in for her if she wasn’t feeling up to it.

I love her songs and couldn’t care less if she were actually singing them. I’d rather they be flawless and fun!

Also what was with all those sour faced b*tch celebrities in the crowd not even smiling while watching Brit Brit? Jealous that she gets an 8 minute slot Demi Lovato? Umm thats because people actually like her! Jessica Alba should be happy anyone remembers her name to invite her to stuff.

  60. Joannie says:

    Brutal overproduced disaster.

  61. Wha? says:

Even though I fully accept and encourage a woman’s right to have a causal sex life, this is too much. Is she a striper or pop star? Oh wait, 99% are one in the same these days. It terrifies me that my daughter will watch this absolute rubbish one day and think that is an appropriate way to be or ,GASP!, that is the desirable way to behave or act or present oneself.

    • ladyE says:

Well, as her parent it’s your responsibility to set the standards as to what is acceptable – not a popstar’s.

    • Sarah says:

What does her clothing have to do with her sex life?

You’re the only one to blame if your child turns out one way or another! Let’s hope they don’t pick up on your judgemental traits.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

People without a virgin/whore complex don’t usually demand such a separation between what kind of clothing is for strippers and what kind of clothing is for other kinds of women. And I don’t think liberal cookies are still being handed out to people for accepting a woman’s right to have a casual sex life. Plenty of people accept a woman’s right to ‘be a freak between the sheets’ so long as she dresses and presents like a ‘lady in the streets’, so to speak. As a parent, you and your wallet have the right to set the rules about what your child does and doesn’t get to wear. But once she’s an adult, she gets to decide how much effort she’s going to put into the game of making people see her as a ‘lady’.

  62. Betti says:

I love Brit Brit but she looked incredibly nervous and almost frightened – she really looked like she wanted to run off the stage. There was some major anxiety going on – u could see it as plain as day.

Please let her retire and raise her kids in peace – thats all she wants to do. She has said in a few interviews that because she’s now a mother she is uncomfortable being sexy and dressing like that.

    • Amanda says:

Why does everyone think Britney wants to retire? Everyone has to work and maybe she does too. I don’t know why or what standard of living she is working to maintain. But many people work because the schedule and constancy of it is what they need. Maybe that is what she needs. And it’s not like she could retire and take a simpler job at a shop or something. This is pretty much all she can do. She has a sweet gig in Vegas that probably doesn’t require too much of her but still provides that consistency.

Also, have you seen how Britney dresses when she’s not at work? She is always dressed sexily, short shorts and crop tops, etc. I have read that same quote where she talks about being uncomfortable dressing sexily while performing but it really doesn’t make sense or add up when you look at how she dresses day-to-day. I think a more mature style would be better for her, but she seems to favor the sexy style.

      • Jayna says:

Amen. She could retire if she wanted to. She doesn’t want to, and she has said she will in a few years. And they set it up where she works only half the year, just three or four nights a week for a few hours, and can fly home every night to her children those nights on a private plane they provide or have them there with her in beautiful place they set up for her. This is all for her comfort and happiness, and gives her something to do, some structure. She will quit when she’s ready, but it’s not like she’s traveling the world every year on a grueling tour. Her work structure is quite cushy, actually.

Here’s a lot of photos Brit shared this year with her children. She’s got a lot of time to be with her family and enjoy their activities.

  63. missworld says:

I thought she killed it!!!! The best dancing Ive seen from her in years… She looks amazing and the songs were dope. Some of you are wayyyyy too judgemental

  64. Jayna says:

Britney has gotten back into amazing shape this past year. The too dark tan on her face does nothing for her. This past year in Vegas she has actually started dancing more than previously. She seems in a great place with her children, posting on instagram cute photos of them as a family out on vacation or at home, etc., and truly seems happy. She is the best she’s been. She doesn’t seem to have a boyfriend, but is doing great on her own for once, with her support system in place.

I think you have to look at her performance this way. No singing. No real dancing to speak of, simple choreography, when she can do more than what she did on stage, but I think that goes to stagefright, her first time back on a national award show performing, not just to her fans in concert.

With Britney’s mental illness and how far she’s come since her breakdown, I look at her performance through that lense. I have a lot of nostalgia for Brit. She has a place in pop music royalty as far as her contribution, and I will always root for her. So in that vein, she was a success at the Billboards show, coming from her last public performance at an award show, the horrific one we all remember. So because of my soft spot for her, I don’t find it a sad performance.

I’m happy for Brit, because she seems much happier these days.

  65. Aurelia says:

I judged the performance on the crowds reaction. They looked entertained. So I would say it was a success.

  66. kodakay says:

I actually like Britney Spears. She’s gone through a lot and had managed to not only salvage her career but is being rewarded for it.

Yes, she’s made some bad moves but hell, she’s only 34 years old. I just can’t hate on her.

    • benchwarmer says:

Exactly! Say what you (and by you I mean any of her detractors, not you per say) will about Brittany, but one thing about her is she’s SWEET and genuine. I’ve never heard one diva story about her. And she’s no show off either, she’s not toting a Birkin once she’s rich or wearing an armful of Cartier Love bangles or Juste en Clou nail bracelets. I respect that about her. She doesn’t flash her cash and she’s down to earth. And her flaws just make her more endearing to me.

  67. Amanda G says:

I don’t see how Britney “changed music” as CB suggests, but she certainly has a lot of hits. I’ve never been on the Britney bandwagon anyway… She used to be a decent dancer…can’t do that anymore… can’t sing live (or doesn’t)… doesn’t write much of her own music… doesn’t play an instrument… Doesn’t even seem to enjoy performing… Yeah, I don’t get the appeal.

  68. DD says:

On second watch, I think she did quite well. The crowd seemed entertained and 100% behind her. That wasn’t sympathy, that was people being genuinely entertained.

  69. benchwarmer says:

I hate the way the camera pans on the audience when it clearly looks like they’re talking negatively about her, smiling in that way that looks like they’re watching a kids recital or saying $hiz. The fact that the camera is doing that makes me feel almost like she was set up to fail.

I think she looks beautiful, great costume/hair/makeup and quite frankly I love all those songs and I HATE all popular music from today(don’t listen to today’s music at all Z-100 or the likes of what they play). I think she is a good dancer and parts of it, like Toxic, look great but it’s def. hard to remember all those moves. Why do singers have to be dancers these days? Sucks that they have to have that pressure. They should just sing from the side or in the middle while professional dancers are dancing. And seriously EFF anyone who was a jerk and talked about her while she performed. That makes me like her more and them less.

    • Pepper says:

Britney was always more of a dancer as a performer though, she could never sing live, even when not moving at all. She’s the main reason every pop star tries to dance now.
