Jay-Z ‘responds’ to Beyonce’s Lemonade with one line in a song remix

Here are some photos of Beyonce and Jay-Z leaving Del Posto in NYC last night. I like Beyonce’s dress a lot here, and while I had a moment of “she looks a little bit pregnant,” I think it’s just the dress. Plus pasta for dinner, I would guess. Anyway, Bey and Jay want you to know that everything is cool between them. They were holding hands and looking happy-ish and that’s the game they’re playing. Lemonade was not an announcement of their impending divorce, it was an acknowledgment that they’ve had big problems and they overcame those problems.

While Jay and Bey have not issued any statements about their marriage, apparently Jay did drop this little gem in the remix of Fat Joe’s “All the Way Up”: “You know you made it when the fact/Your marriage made it is worth millions/Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is survival of the littlest.” You know what? I’m a bit tired of these games, Jay and Bey.

Speaking of games, Page Six also reported this week that they’ve probably done a “secret album” together, because of course.

Forget those rumors about Jay Z and Beyoncé’s marriage — after all the wild speculation set off by “Lemonade,” the power couple has secretly recorded an album together. Sources confirmed exclusively to Page Six that Jay and Bey’s surprise album is complete, and it will drop on his streaming service Tidal very soon.

One source told us, “Jay and Beyoncé were never going to do an interview to address all the questions that came up after ‘Lemonade.’ It’s more their style to respond through music.”

[From Page Six]

“It will drop on his streaming service Tidal very soon…” Doubtful. While it’s completely possible that Jay and Beyonce did do an album together (more on that in a sec), I just don’t think Beyonce wants to drop another album/project so close to Lemonade. She’s focused on Lemonade and her tour. She doesn’t want to ruin that momentum. As for the idea of a whole other album, I do believe that Beyonce probably has enough unreleased material to fill at least three or four more albums, with or without Jay. She recorded a ton of stuff and then culled the album down to what she thinks is her best. She probably has like 30 completely songs sitting in a vault right now just from the Lemonade sessions.

They are going full-force with the Tidal PR hooks huh? Very smart and savvy business couple for sure.

And damn them, even with an alarm on my phone, I still forgot to cancel yesterday the Tidal “trial” subscription I signed up for to watch Lemonade!

That’s hilarious! And exactly why people in marketing make you do that.

    I’m so bored with them.

Someone help me, what does that *mean*? Survival of the littlest? Is he slamming her? Is he celebrating the wealth in their marriage? Does it matter?

    • JenniferJustice says:

I’m guessing he still thinks of himself and Bey as little people who climbed to the top and are still climbing. I also think he’s suggesting they both made it because together (marriage) they are a power couple (millions). I wouldn’t particularly consider a couple’s financial state representative of the success of their marriage. That just makes it sound all the more a business deal. But to each their own.

      • Naya says:

If you hear the immediate lyrics following this line, he talks about the fact that he is allowed into rooms or deals where other black people are not. Survival of the littlest just means that the type of person least likely to survive/thrive, has done exactly that.

He is addressing the attention exactly same way any ordinary person would; by changing the subject. So instead of “yes, I cheated”, it becomes “I am so successful that you people actually care that I cheated”. I have no problems with this tbh. Its their marriage, they get to define what and how to communicate it to the rest of the world. Plus the world doesnt have to take it, we can always ignore them and do something else with the free time.

I mean what can he say? He cheated on his wife and she called him out on it. Big time. If she wants that type of marriage that’s up to her. I feel like he’ll do it again, that their marriage is more of a business then an actual marriage.

It wouldn’t work for me, but if that’s what they want so be it.

Greatness is a process? Ugh. So smug. Nice teeshirt jay-z.

I think Beyonce and Jay are the Underwoods of the music industry. They know about all the divorce rumors flying around and decided to turn that into money. Because that’s what good businessmen do. They make money out of anything.

That’s why I respect them. How career and business-driven they are. And that’s why I fail to see either of them as actual artists as well. But they are very talented performers. Beyonce, at least. Never been a fan of Jay’s rapping (but he does make good music).

      SUCH a good comparison!

    • madly says:

I agree, I don’t see her as an artist but a businesswoman.

I used to like her music, but when she directed a documentary about herself, I went off her. She seems to love herself so much, she doesn’t need me to be a fan. Ugh.

His wording is confusing you to me. Feels like I’m trying to decipher something

Bey is one of the only people I’ve ever seen that looks beautiful w/center part. Between that and my swag envy for that ensemble, I’m a beehiver just for today….

  9. lower-case deb says:

in the top pic, perhaps Bey is just looking at the sidewalk/where she’s stepping, but she looks like she’s smiling at the sight of their linked hands.

sometimes, when we have mom&dad evening away from the kids, i’d end up linking up hands with my husband subconsciously and i’ll feel a bit odd to feel a big hand in lieu of a sticky small hand. then i look down and see it and smile remembering the heydey of just the two of us. then he’ll look down too and we’d laugh and call the kids.

unfortunately the kids are growing so fast that they’re now more about “ew mom don’t hold my handsssss.”

i feel a bit sad to imagine that one day the hands linking up with their hands won’t be mine anymore. but happy too i guess. hope they found a good person to go with the hand 😀

lol sorry about the tangent but that Bey picture just brought all kinds of thoughts.

Gorgeous dress, and she looks wonderful in it! Best look in ages.

Kinda proud that I didn’t see Lemonade, I’m tired of her and her antics. I don’t consider it strong to call a man out and then take him back just because he said he is sorry and he has done it many times. Leopards don’t change their spots, he is just in pause mode. He’ll cheat again eventually. I would have respected her so much more if she were to say goodnight to this marriage and go off on her own as she doesn’t need him nearly as much as he needs her at this point.

  12. Erica_V says:

I know she said that she recorded a total of 81 tracks for BEYONCE so I wouldn’t doubt if some of the tracks from Lemonade were older or like the poster said that she has 3 or 4 albums worth of produced songs she could put out at anytime.

  13. Danielle says:

Hmm, his lyrics are rather lacking compared to hers. I know some people thing he’s awesomely talented, but I don’t find his rapping to be lyrical either, nothing compared to nwa or many other talents. They might be strong together, but he’d better behave. I believe she can completely eclipse him.
