Would you take advice from Miley Cyrus? Imagine you were 15 years old, and Miley was your friend… would you take her advice then? If your answer was “no” to both of those questions, congratulations, you are intelligent. It seems Miley has been handing out some bad advice to her little tween and teen friends. She’s telling them that they need to hunker down and get boyfriends, or else all of the guys will be taken. Not only that, but Miley’s telling her friends that they need to put out, or as The National Enquirer reports “they’d better be ready when it’s time to go all the way”.
This is seriously the kind of advice girls give to give each other – I remember being a kid and hearing my friends give some version of this lecture. No one would worry if it wasn’t Miley Cyrus giving the lecture. Not only is Miley a celebrity, she’s one of those young girls who likes to talk publicly about her Christian faith and her virginity. She may actually be a virgin, for all I know. I don’t think it’s any of my business, and I’m only aware of it because Miley talks about it so much. But the ever-vigilant hypocrisy-watchers are everywhere:
Billy Ray Cyris and wife Tish struggle to keep mega-star Miley Cyrus’ image squeaky-clean, but lately they’re getting a blistering earful from parents of Miley’s teen galpals, who charge that their brat’s telling their kids they should start cranking their love lives into high gear, braggin that at age 16, she already romancing grown-up Justin Gaston, 20.
Worse, the parents complain, Miley’s flat-out advising the wide-eyed girls that they’d better find themselves a guy, or they’re gonna be left by the side of the road, and they’d better be ready when it’s time to go all the way, reveals a family friend. That sure ain’t music to the ears of parents of Miley’s girl posse, many of whom aren’t in show business.
Said the friend: “Billy Ray and Tish keep fielding calls from parents who ask: ‘Do you know what kind of stuff your daughter is feeding out girl?’ They’re worried because Miley’s pals admire her so much, they’ll take anything she says as gospel.”

The Gospel of Miley Cyrus? Must. Read. Considering Billy Ray is so involved in Miley’s love life, I’ve got to wonder if this is his version of the birds and bees talk. It seems to have that whiff of condescending perversion, and I can actually see Billy Ray telling Miley, “You need to learn how to get a man, and keep a man.” Ew, I grossed myself out.

A lot of kids start having sex at Miley’s age. It may have been stupid of her to publicly state she would wait until marriage, but the fact is I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t wait.

Down the street from the firm I work at is a “continuation school” translation? Places where girls who had sex and got knocked up at 13 and need to be educated elsewhere. I can’t tell you how many youngYOUNG girls I’ve seen pregnant, or pushing their baby.
It makes me want to either: Scream at them and ramble on about Planned Parenthood v. Casey and how over 50 years ago, women didn’t have the rights to their own bodies the way they do now and that they’re throwing their lives away OR just pray my own kids won’t end up like that.

I’m guessing none of these kids saw that Oprah show where Dr. Berman was talking about the importance of girls knowing how to self-pleasure themselves so they aren’t going around trying to get off with guys. Miley is one whacked out kid, and her parents are twice as whacked out. Makes me feel so hopeful for today’s teenagers. Not.

Spooge, you’re right about Americans being prudes, but a lot of them are absolutely doing the same thing in their teens despite the way they pretend.
This kind of shit is normal. As far back as middle school I can remember a certain number of girls talking about things like this–and at the time I was very much a “good girl” but still incredibly aware of most things sexual.
So she’s probably having sex with a 20-year-old instead of pretending she’s not having sex with a fellow 16-year-old. Who cares. I don’t get the premature comparisons to Britney Spears and the like.

Weeell… There would be nothing wrong with telling her girlfriends IF THEY WANT TO HAVE SEX to start it maybe with someone a little older (a LITTLE older, I’m not talking about late in their twenties or older) and experience who know what they’re doing. And there would CERTAINLY be nothing wrong with advising them only to have sex with a condom (though I think it would be the parents’ job to tell their kids that). BUT: This whole “Have sex or all the guys will be taken”-bullsh*t? Good Lord, that’s backlash hiding behind so called sexual freedom.
One should have sex with someone because one wants to have sex with someone. Every other reason is wrong.

They quote “the Friend”, but this so-called friend refers to Miley’s “pals” in the third person (i.e. they aren’t one of them).
I feel sorry for Miley that no matter what nasty piece of garbage, no matter how blatantly stupid, many people will instantly–gladly–believe it!

We dont have any context;
but it can be interpreted as her advising that they ought not do anything UNLESS they are fully ready. As in when they do go ahead, they better be ready.
But there arent even quotes around those words…. not to mention the whole converstaion and everything else.
