Tom Hiddleston ‘is really being so supportive’ during Taylor Swift’s meltdown

FFN_VAH_Swift_Taylor_070616_52114351

Sunday night and Monday were full of #KimExposedTaylorParty tweets. People really were enjoying the Kardashian-Wests take down Taylor, even if it is just momentary. But those people also took a moment to feel sorry for poor Tom Hiddleston. By that I mean that there were all of these “Poor Tom” tweets about how he was probably like “oh sh-t, this is not what I signed up for.” Which is what I’ve been saying all along – I think Tom was probably aware enough to know that dating Taylor would be a big deal. But he didn’t realize that it was going to blow up to this extent, nor did he realize that Taylor would be embroiled in this kind of scandal just a month-and-a-half into their relationship. So how is Tom handling it? It sounds like he’s trying very hard to not anger the beast.

Taylor Swift was completely caught off guard by all the drama on Sunday night, July 17, sources tell Us Weekly. According to an insider, the “Welcome to New York” singer is “flabbergasted” following Kim Kardashian’s decision to release Swift’s phone call with Kanye West on Snapchat.

“She is completely upset and flabbergasted that Kim and Kanye keep using her name for publicity and keep trying to bring her down,” the source tells Us, maintaining that Swift never gave her blessing for the whole song. “She made her statement on Instagram and is sticking by it.” Swift would have “never given her blessing if she knew it would be used in such a degrading and hurtful way” the source tells Us. “This is not anything she asked to be a part of and they keep dragging her into this,” the insider adds, referring to Swift’s previous drama with the Life of Pablo rapper after he ambushed her on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009.

While a majority of the Internet has sided with Kimye, Swift has her new boyfriend, Tom Hiddleston, in her corner.

“Tom is really being so supportive and telling her to be calm,” the source tells Us of the Thor actor. “This is incredibly hurtful and unnecessary.”

[From Us Weekly]

I wonder if Tom is telling her that she’s a really cool person for using explicit and implicit racism in her war with Kanye? I wonder if Tom is telling her that PR-wise, she might just want to go dark for several weeks instead of having her team play this out on TMZ and People Mag? Or is Tom basically just trying to figure out how to get out of this mess?

Hahaha, I like this. Of course he is supportive, he can’t leave her now

    • Bluebelle says:

If he leaves he will be painted as a spawn from hell by Taylor’s camp. There’s this meme about a plane about to land then it just takes off again. It was hilarious and perfect.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Bluebell, at this point, being portrayed as a spawn from Hell by her camp might be preferable

      • Sixer says:

I would rather be spawn from hell than be seen to be going along with this latest shiznit from her camp.

      • Dara says:

Her team, and her fans, are going to portray him as the spawn from hell no matter when he exits, so maybe it is better to do it sooner rather than later. The latest statements from her team and her “supporters” have me sick to my stomach.

      • Katherine says:

True. But, he’ll be painted that way anyway regardless of when he does actually split. That meme sounds hilarious. lmao

Dara, I’m with you. There’s no way Tom can win here, so may as well rip the bandaid off quickly rather than drag it out. Don’t even get me started on her latest statements, still trying to sell herself as the poor, little victimized girl. It makes me want to hurl.

    • NoName says:

Or maybe he really loves her?? Why is that so hard to believe? The reverse is frankly more unbelievable to me, just logically speaking. I don’t doubt that C list or B list celebs sometimes go on public dates to boost their image and relevancy but I doubt they last for months or essentially live together 24/7 unless there is real affection and attraction there.

      • Maria says:

how long are they together now? 3 and a half weeks? thats hardly love. i wouldnt blame him for not wanting to deal with that. its not like they are married for ten years and she always stood by his side. if Tom was in this much crap Taylor would throw him under the bus and be seen with the next pretty white guy.

      • shelly says:

That is more than possible Noname, but her modus operandi does seem to be to attach herself to her latest squeeze like a limpet. I wonder if he invited her down under or if she invited herself ?

On the other hand she is a nice looking girl, with plenty of money, and I doubt if TH is reading the internet and gossip sites 24/7 worrying about the perception of his relationship, so just maybe she is THE one, and he is very much in her corner.

        Who knows.

      • anon456 says:

Before always asking others this question and be so insisting about it, maybe you should think hard and long about what your question implies. Because Hiddleston loving Swift means he loves a racist, lying, childish and petty bully. He is not some 15 years old boy, he is a grown up man that should know better. So if you have any fondness for him, wish him to find enough balls to leave.

      • Bluebelle says:

He’s been exposed to blatant attacks since they started and that’s recipe for becoming disillusioned.

      • Wren says:

Maybe he does. It’s not out of the realm of possibility. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. He may have decided that staying with her for now is the chivalrous thing to do and once things have blown over he’ll start pulling away. Again, we’ll have to wait and see.

I don’t personally see anything wrong with it (or him) if he does really love her. We don’t choose who we love. Some men like immature, childishly flawed women (not in a creepy pedo way). They get to feel mature and protective, and conversely some women like those kind of men. They want to feel protected and looked after. Since Tom and Taylor each seem to be these type of people, respectively, they may very well be quite honestly happy.

      • The Understudy says:

I am actually doubting Taylor is in meltdown, she knew this was coming when her lawyers failed to get the recording destroyed in the first place. I think she got played by team Kanye to an an extent but would never have found herself in that position had she not been plotting with them in the first place.

If he has fallen for her he did not fall for her media image he fell for the person he met and he has made a huge commitment by being joined at the hip with her for the last month. I wonder how much she confided in him that it was all about to go down, either way he would only get the story from her perspective so of course he will be on her side. I hope he is too smart to get drawn on it though he will pressed for comment, will she want her super supportive boyfriend to stand up as team Swift?

Taylor is not a loser she wins every time, this will blow over and will remain a successful multi millionaire who has the internet’s boyfriend gazing lovingly at her.

      • daisie-b says:

@No Name. You are absolutely correct. Anyone can fake it for a couple of appearances. Tom did a magnificent job in The Night Manager and this will in no way make him uncastable. He is probably being deluged with scripts. The Bond role is brought up at every opportunity, which he plays down and in one case he responded by saying he sees himself more as a Bond villian. This is a better choice because there are fewer opportunities for critics to make unfavorable comparisons. The Bond character treats women like burner phones, once they’ve filled his needs they’re best if they’re destroyed.

President Obama called Kanye a jackass which is about the kindest thing anyone could say about him. Kudos to Taylor for changing the conversation and commandeering the media focus at a time when he thought the unauthorized image of a replica of her nude body would break the internet. The visual was copied from another artist’s work. He is no different from the other stalkers who show up at her homes to terrorize her. I hope that she gets a restraining order against Mr. & Mrs. West. Suing them would just provide the opportunity to link their name with Swift’s in the press and in his mind continue the delusion that they are on a par.

      • Katherine says:

LOL That’s the best joke I’ve heard all year. Please, there’s no love involved here. Especially, not after just a few weeks. Maria’s right.

    • CooCoo Catchoo says:

Too early in their relationship for this kinda drama. Pretty sure he knew what he was getting into, though. He and Taylor remind me more and more of the movie Notting Hill.

    • ctgirl says:

Dear Tom, buckle up buttercup. You are in for a bumpy ride.

    • jammypants says:

If I was just dating someone for a month and literally everyday brings fresh hell, I’d make a run for the door, lock/key and throw it away.

    • Secret squirrel says:

Will no one think of the real victims here? Her poor cats’ reputations are in tatters right now for associating with her and refusing to leave. They have gone into hiding for now but as soon as Tay Tay gets home, we all know they will forgive her and run purring into her arms.

    • Kosmos says:

It’s waayyy too soon to tell if they will end up adoring each other, let’s be honest….it all started out very nice, but don’t they all?? Of course she wanted to attach herself to someone who was really taken with her, all the easier to make her breakup with Calvin not such a big deal, because she’s got ANOTHER man already, how convenient is that? Of course, Tom is going to support her all the way because she is going to tell him it just wasn’t like that, none of the stories about her are true! He’s going to side with her because he thinks he wants her, but let’s wait six months or so and check to see how they are doing then. I’m SURE that Taylor did not want to have another public breakup, i.e., Calvin, and be left boyfriend-less again…..so Tom sure came around at the right time, hmmmm.

  2. MI6 says:

    #THexit
    The sooner, the better.
These Prince Charming Super Boyfriend stories (undoubtedly leaked by her PR) only serve to back him into a corner to protect his image.
Get on a plane to CA for SDCC, Tom, and then go back to work alone. Don’t go down with the Taytanic.

    • I Choose Me says:

Giggling at THexit and Taytanic. Apparantly I’m twelve.

    • Sixer says:

      #THexit

Why didn’t IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII think of that?! Very good!

    • Lilacflowers says:

MI6, gets all the kahlua brownies this morning.

    • Nancy says:

Don’t go down with the Taytanic! Hysterical!

    • Lucy says:

I wonder if this will be like a Beniffer scenario? It took Afleck a long time to live down and get over the Jennifer Lopez phase, and he’s tried really hard to make people forget about it…I have a feeling Taylor Swift is TH’s Jennifer Lopez. His career will take a bit of a hit and he’ll work really hard to make this all be forgotten.

    • Pinky says:

      All the stars to you!!

      –TheRealPinky

    • Bonzo says:

I bow to your linguistic prowess MI6. #THexit… brilliant!

    • Bonzo says:

TH is stuck, I think. There’s no way he can win and meet his #CareerGoals if he pulls out of the mess now. He needs her for a profile boost, but her image has taken a huge hit this summer and harms him by association. We know what she does to men who dump her, so I think he’s going to stay in it until she breaks things off with the hope his career will recover.

      • pikawho? says:

Even if she’s the one to break things off, she will still attack him in the media, as she has done with all of her boyfriends (except for Taylor Lautner who I believe was a genuine friend before the bearding). Hiddleston has painted himself into a corner and quite frankly deserves it.

      • jammypants says:

More like a profile sinker than a boost.

    • Sixer says:

Also, on this note and to actually be serious for once: I really loved the way so many American friends really engaged with the whole Brexit thing on here. So far from Celebrity gossip and really gave the lie to the Americans are all insular and ignorant trope. Jus’ sayin’!

      • Dlo says:

I, as an American, appreciate all the insight provided by all of our non American CBers. I learn so much from all of you.

      • MI6 says:

Sixer, I am still planning to move to London if that asshat Trump gets elected, Brexit or not.

      • jammypants says:

I talk about Brexit quite often with my Brit friends. It’s been a huge major concern for them for a long while. Seriously, the government musical chairs going on there is alarming!

    • jammypants says:

@MI6 I love all your catchy phrases! 😂 favs are #THexit and Taytanic hahaha

      • MI6 says:

        xo Jammy
We should all gather for mojitos on the veranda and wait for the next Sighting

      • lilacflowers says:

Well, he can be sighted almost daily running the beach but I think the paps and tabloids are bored with that. After all, multiple pictures of Tom running in the same running gear are interchangeable. I suspect the next sighting will be at the airport for the flight to Comic-Con, unless she does a farewell to Australia dinner.

      • jammypants says:

        Joining veranda now!

@Lilac, I hope he runs, far away from Taylor and her ilk. It’s only been a month Tommy boy. The window is closing fast. Run!

  3. Grace says:

    The source, hello, publicist. *wave*

  4. Aussie girl says:

I love the shots of him running on the beach everyday. I know it’s a get fit thing but in my mind I imagine him plotting his exit.
I honesty can’t believe that he would like this drama and to be surrounded by it. I think it was about the publicity first and now he has bitten off more than he can chew ( that one was for sixer).

    • Grace says:

The running could be his way of normalising an otherwise not normal environment, by keeping up with what he did before things got out of control.

      • shelly says:

Well the running also gets him out of the house when he’s not at work, ditto going out for the take away meal, when he’s been working all day.

I can imagine Ms Swift having meltdowns galore this week. He will have to marry her now, to save her from a PR disaster.

      • Bonzo says:

Running is a great stress reliever and helps to clear the cobwebs out. I’m sure he needs it now that things have gotten messy for her.

    • PGrant's Girl says:

@AussieGirl: I agree that he’s bitten off more than he can chew at this point. He and his team have to be totally freaking out at the turn this has taken.

    • anon456 says:

Too bad the running happens under the watchful eyes of her bodyguards.

      • maria 2 says:

        you’re kidding?

      • anon456 says:

No, he was photographed/videorecorded running or leaving the hotel to go running one of her bodyguards was with him.

      • jammypants says:

        That wasn’t a physical trainer?

      • lilacflowers says:

@jammypants, I think it is one of her bodyguards. He was in one of the airport pictures. There are actually a few videos of the beach running and the guy is in a few of the shots. He can’t keep up with Tom so that’s why he isn’t in every picture. He’s lagging behind. Tom probably laps him.

      • MI6 says:

By the way, might I go slightly off topic and say he’s practically airborne when he runs? It really is rather lovely. I keep hearing the “Chariots of Fire” theme in my head when I see those pictures.
Sorry. Back to the bashing now.
        *slinks away*

      • jammypants says:

@Lilac well he’s doing a poor job! Tom’s airborne and flying away from him. Why is Taylor sending a bodyguard with Tom? She doesn’t want her precious toy scratched?

      • Bonzo says:

The bodyguard is probably cursing every morning now that he’s required to run with Tom. Poor sausage.

    • Pinky says:

      The Running of the Bullsh*t.

      –TheRealPinky

    • Annetommy says:

Wasn’t he The Great Escapo or similar in the Muppet Movie? I remember him in chains I think (wonder why…) . Now might be a good time…

    • Grey says:

Maybe one day he will go for a run and just keep going and never come back? (meant as “very tongue in cheek, obviously… haha)

  5. Dana m says:

Unless Tom H has an 8th grade mentality like her, he may be trying to figure out how to get out of his situation SWIFTLY (no pun intended) & strategically without “angering the beast.”

  6. Margo S. says:

First of all, shame on swifts pr for being so blatantly racist about all of this. Apparently swift can attack anyone she wants in a song without their permission, but heaven forbid you do it to her, WITH her permission. And second, Tom should leave this fake contract relationship. However, if they did sign a contract maybe he can’t leave…

    • CoKatie says:

Yeah, no. Personally I think we need to back off on equating this to racism. That’s as much of a stretch as equating TS to feminism. Frankly, I find both offensive.

      • Susie 1of 3 says:

@CoKatie, Thanks for saying it. It is a stretch and offensive.

      • Alex says:

The attacks her team have used do have racist undertones. See the other comments for how this is. Its not coming from nowhere her team is deliberately using certain language that has people pissed

      • Fl girl says:

        Thank you.

    • K.C. says:

I could be wrong because this whole feud requires a flow chart, but I don’t think the issue was ever that he dared to write a song that mentioned her in a bad light. It was that he mentioned her in a bad light and said she was fine with it. Songwriters aren’t expected or required to confront the people they’re talking about before they do it, and I would hope Taylor would know that better than anyone, since she goes after people all the time in her music without asking first.

Now we know that she clearly WAS fine with it—at least some of it. I think the issue now (maybe? I don’t know) is that he says she heard all the lyrics beforehand, and she says she didn’t. So I don’t think it has ever been a matter of asking for or needing approval, but rather who is telling the truth over if she heard the whole thing beforehand.

      • rOBINO! says:

I agree. At the same time Taylor can say she never heard the entire song and everyone isn’t as quick to believe it… since she already shot herself in the foot and got caught in one lie. She already told one in this scenario, is it so hard to believe she’d tell another? Nope. Usually I find those people caught in a lie will go down defending their lie until nothing else is left.

And you’re right….she’s being hypocritical too at the same time. What’s good for the goose…

    • holly hobby says:

Well not only is she petty, her buddies have said some questionable things too. EW has a story on their webpage right now about the director of her videos (the same guy who directed some kind of colonial plantation video with her and Scott Eastwood? I seemed to have missed that one!) saying that the Kardashians “murdered” another blonde beautiful woman (Nicole Simpson). That was pretty low. I’m sure the Browns and Goldmans like that this jerk compared this high school drama to the brutal murder of their loved ones.

      Her crew seems really nice…not!

      • Cricket says:

I read that comment about the Kardashian murdering another blonde and literally my jaw dropped. That was so out of line and OTT that I can’t believe it was actually printed.

In sticking with the Notting Hill theme – which I’ve also seen comparisons in the daily As the Tiddles Turns saga.. (btw, my fav line was Alec Baldwin ‘adios the dishes and take out the trash’ to Hugh Grant) – I’ve wondered if Hiddles has thought about cutting his loses with TS and just going on Fallon and doing an interview like Grant getting caught with the hooker. Just a pithy, what was I thinking and end it.

He isn’t engaged to her, there really aren’t many photos of them so easily scrubbed from the net and as mentioned by many above her fans will be brutal no matter when it ends so I agree and rip that plaster (ode to Sixer) off and be done.

Maybe Tiddles can hire #PoorJason since he seems to have lots of free time lately and isn’t crisis management his forte?

  7. Sixer says:

There isn’t a quote in the Hallmark archive that will get him out of this one. He’s just going to have to order the sandbags and hunker (cower?) down.

    • Christin says:

‘Be calm’ will be on the human Muppet’s next tank top.

Those are probably the only two words he can get out, amid all the dramatics.

  8. Miss Jupitero says:

He signed up for an A-List-constantly-pursued-by-paps type power couple relationship. He wanted it. Badly. That boy is thirsty. I have a hard time believing that he hasn’t noticed what kind of player Tay Tay is, and I have to conclude that he is himself such a player. Much as it is funny to joke about this looking like a hostage situation, he has agency. He pursued this.

I don’t think he was prepared for this explosion, but if he stands by and plays Perfect English Tea Drinking Boyfriend and holds her hand and fetches the takeout even when she and her team handle this in such an appalling way, he will absolutely come out of this covered in fleas.

    • Grace says:

All of her latest drama is making him look bad by association, in addition to being on the receiving end of a laughing party prior. Not a good summer for them.

    • Sixer says:

He’s totally buggered by her camp using coded racism though, isn’t he? Cos he’s made a career out of being a safe liberal and only saying very safe things about very safe liberal issues that everyone can agree on. His is a pretty difficult corner right now. He’s never taken an actual side or stance in his life. But not taking a side now IS taking a side.

      Oops.

      • Grace says:

Yep. He comes off like a man with questionable taste, morality, and dignity.

      • saltandpepper says:

Too right @Sixer. ‘To Tay or not to Tay. That is the question.’

      • susanne says:

For me, that’s where this nonsense crosses the line. It’s all fun and games and blow up slides until TayTay pulls nasty racist crap. *I* feel dirty just commenting on it.
There is scary crap going on all over the world, and I would like my celebrity gossip to remain escapist and vapid, thankyouverymuch.

      • Bonzo says:

Yes to all this. He looks bad any way you slice it.

      • Betti says:

Yes and given all that is happening in the US right now he can kiss his career in HW goodbye. He’s been forever tainted by association with her. As for her coded racism that hole is getting bigger and bigger. She need to own her lie and go away.

      • Bonzo says:

I bet TIDDLES PR people weren’t expecting the commentary of Taylor using the protection of her whiteness to make Kanye look bad to become a part of the larger conversation.

She threw him under the bus after saying she’d support him publicly and until those videos came out, everyone believed the lily white “victim” over the big black “bully”. The fact that the lyric is misogynistic isn’t the point – she clearly gives her ok to the concept that she & Kanye might sleep together because he made her famous. The term “b!tch” doesn’t make that lyric a whole lot worse than it already is.

Unless Taylor makes amends, Tom will be tainted by his association with her since it’ll be assumed he is on her side and would defend her.

      • Sixer says:

Five years of staying on the non-committal and safe side of everything is a long old taint-free history to blow. Even I think it’s a shame.

Most of us here get to say Kanye West is a misogynistic arsehole. Or Kim Kardashian is empty of almost every worthwhile human characteristic. Or it is outrageous that Taylor Swift thinks coded racism is an acceptable tool to use in a PR spat between celebrities.

Most reasonable people are able to say ALL these things. I wouldn’t want to be a person who would be laughed out of town for saying one of those things because I was going out with one of the people concerned and my PR was putting out the line that I was being totally supportive of them. Thank you very much.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

I’m picturing an English Nick Dunne at the end of the high school version of Gone Girl right now. Oh, Tom.

    • Miss Melissa says:

Not that I know anything about him in reality… but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that he is non confrontational and not the type to publicly defend a woman.

Where that gets either of them, I’ll guess, is not where either of them really wants. He won’t THexit because it will make a scene, and he won’t stand up for her because it will make more drama.

He made that bed… as others have said. This IS what he came for.

      • jammypants says:

He’s defended Scarlett Johannson and Gwenyth Palthrow from very sexist, demeaning remarks from a radio dj during The Avengers promotion. The video is still on YouTube actually.

      • Cricket says:

I think now may be the perfect time for him to get a clean break from her. There are so many fires going on now and so many enemies of the Tay that he will just be another on the pile so not in the spotlight alone. If he is going to cut and run, I think now may be the perfect time. The longer he stays, the worse for him.. unless he really is in it to win it and is in love – which seems unrealistic.

      • DahliaDee says:

@JAMMY: I don’t remember him defending Scarlett. I remember him awkwardly laughing along and then trying to change the subject. And I remember that because I judged him for those splinters up the arse.

      • jammypants says:

@Dahlia, we must be remembering different interviews. What’s annoying is I went to look for it and there’s now only an edited version. I just remember being really impressed he stood up for the ladies in the uncut version.

  9. Jane says:

I wonder if Tom is allowed to say anything to Tay-Tay that is not related to expounding his love for her, her beauty (gag me) and her magnificent talent. I see him as a court jester doing everything in his power to amuse her; otherwise she’ll dump him and find another man she can handle. I seriously do not see him trying to talk any sense into her.

  10. Cecilia says:

I assume Tom needs to think well of himself (as, I suppose, we all do) and certainly would never want to be seen as anything other than the epitome of the perfect British gentleman – would never want to be seen as a cad. So, yup, he’s stuck with her until this Taylor-created crisis has passed. He’ll be the good boyfriend and when a face-saving escape route opens perhaps then he’ll bail.

  11. pam says:

    They deserve each other..

  12. OhDear says:

Tom right now: “Does anyone know Katie Holmes’ number? HELP!!”

    • Dlo says:

😅😅😅😅😅love the Katie reference! Tom, hey Katie, can I borrow that burner phone? 😆

  13. Tiffany says:

I am done with Tom. He is going to stay with his girlfriend who is running a racial attack on someone in the press. That says he accepts it and is fine with it.

    • Browniecakes says:

She followed him. Best he can do is come back from San Diego alone on Monday

      • Bonzo says:

It won’t surprise me if that happens Brownie. I can’t see her staying with him the entire time. Taking a vacay with your bf while he’s working long days and you’re stuck with your staff, unable to walk about freely wherever you want has got to get old fast.

    • shelly says:

He must be dreading Comic Con at the moment, one awkward question is all it takes…talk about a minefield.

“Hey Tom when are you and Taytay getting married”
“Hey Tom do you think Katy Perry has a nice voice”
“Hey Tom do you think Taytay is on a par with Nicole Brown Simpson”

    • Betti says:

She stalked him to the set. She has previous for stalking boyfriends with the paps in tow.

      • Willow says:

This 35 year old man can’t tell a woman he has been “dating” for a few weeks to leave him alone when he is working? Sad. I don’t care for her, but why is everyone treating him like some poor innocent lamb who is prey to a horrible lion? Look at all those fan piggyback rides, dancing monkey and bad impressions videos, ridiculous name dropping interviews and the desperation was obvious. Any man even casually looking her up on Google would know exactly how she operates. He chose to participate and so far it is backfiring on him.

      • shelly says:

That is a good point Willow, he strikes me as the type who would do plenty of research before jumping in with both feet. And Taytay’s history is there for all to see.
He may be really into her and trying to be supportive or he may be as fame hungry as people say, but he can’t pretend she’s an unknown quantity.

      • FW says:

They were holding hands when boarding the flight to Golden Coast. Didn’t look like stalking to me.

    • Tiffany says:

Nope, I do not buy it. He went with the narrative and she is still there. He is no victim.

  14. EscapedConvent says:

I’m kind of agog that Kim did this. If that transcript of their conversation is real, and Taylor knows she was on speaker phone, what can she do? This looks so bad for her. And I would guess she’s a delight to be around for Hiddles. But it seems to me she had better hold on tight to that “I didn’t say he could call me a bitch!” defense because that’s about all she’s got.

Also, I can’t wait to hear what law schools Kim will be applying to.

  15. Lilacflowers says:

My mother used to tell us to:

“CALM DOWN!!! CALM THE HELL DOWN RIGHT THIS MINUTE!!! DAMN IT!!!”

I’m imagining Tom delivering the lines the same way right now.

  16. Well, the one useful thing Tom can take away from this relationship, is how to deal with his teenage daughter’s drama when he becomes a father.

  17. EM says:

He is looking for an escape…round about now.

  18. MI6 says:

By the way, with all this “supportive boyfriend” blather, how exactly is Taylor supporting TOM while he gets dragged in the press, works hard on his role in Thor and campaigns for a major award??
    Oh yeah, right. She doesn’t.
Sounds like true love to me.

    • FW says:

TS supports TH with private jet, SUV and driver, (hot)bodyguards, luxury hotel penthouse, just to name a few

      • PimmsCupInAPimpCup says:

Yeh… If she really supported him, she’d have horrendous looking bodyguards. Those bodyguards make him look MORE like a banana headed twit, to be honest.

    • Sue says:

This! There are only articles and comments from ‘sources’ describing her feelings and what is Tom doing for her. And where are the ‘sources’ commenting on her behaviour towards him and how he’s feeling about that? We’ve got just that one starement from THR after Emmy nom so far. See, it is all just about her.

      • lilacflowers says:

Because it is all her PR. His PR shut down the Ellen rumors and the engagement announcement on set rumors.

      • jammypants says:

Is it really her PR that sent out the engagement and joint interview rumors? If so, ultra tacky. My dislike for her grows every time I see more of this mess. I’m also judging Tom on this to a lesser degree. He’s had decent taste in women until recently.

      • lilacflowers says:

@jammypants, the publications/websites that posted them could have made it up on their own, as some do with hot topics for ad revenues. But those two in particular, his PR shut down and they had to run corrections.

      • jammypants says:

@lilac, I suspect it’s a mix of her PR and publications running say with Twitter theories unsubstantiated.

      • Sixer says:

Let’s see then, if HIS PR shuts down HER PR for suggesting he is being supportive of all things Swift, including the use of racist dog whistles.

I’m betting it doesn’t and I’ll be in full-on judging mode about that. I call it complicity.

Bah. Tiddlesbanging was SO glorious. Now it’s just heading off to the gutter.

  19. Bonzo says:

Comic Con can’t come soon enough.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Four days. And may he leave her in LA and quietly escape back to Australia.

      • EnnuiAreTheChampions says:

I agree. I’ve been trying to keep an open mind about her because my pet peeve is women being raked over the coals for being associated with Internet boyfriends. But recent events suggest to me that she may be legitimately awful. I hope Tom decides to, and is able to, extricate himself from this relationship carefully, and with surgical precision.

      • Dara says:

Taylor had only been on my radar in a minimal way until recently, and I thought that her personal antics, while vaguely ridiculous, were mostly harmless. Now the more I know of her and how her team operates, the less there is for me to like. I’m starting to think she is the opposite of harmless. The word insidious comes to mind.

I still have a small hope that most of it is not her doing, but is the result of the people guiding her and her image, but she’s also been very vocal about how she controls every aspect of her life and career, and takes great pride in that fact, so maybe even that is a false hope.

      • jammypants says:

@ennui @Dara same thoughts here. I had very little opinion of Swift until now. I want her to go away now (forever is preferable). She has enough money to retire for several lifetimes. As seen though, she can’t be rich and idle on vacation. Girl is working up a storm on her phone in her shared suite with Tom.

    • Willow says:

What is going to magically happen at Comic Con? Granted it is a big event, but some people are acting like it will be some big redemption for him. The damage is done. The general public does not really know or care about Comic Con, especially when you have two huge political conventions sucking out all the media oxygen this week and next week.

      • Bonzo says:

I’m insinuating he may want a change of scenery and to be able to talk about his work with the fans.

      • Willow says:

You think people won’t clown him at Comic Con? Okay. I was just wondering why people act like Comic Con is going to make any kind of difference to this circus to the general public who don’t know or care about Comic Con. He does not need to worry about stans and fans because they will applaud him regardless, even though they apparently can’t be bothered to his movies unless it is Marvel.

      • Browniecakes says:

I want to see TnT cosplay!

      • lilacflowers says:

Comic–Con gives an opportunity for a break. It would be very weird if she stayed in Australia while he traveled back to San Diego. It would make sense that she came back to the States with him and then stayed home because there is nothing for her to do in Australia stuck in a hotel penthouse. She’s not even sightseeing at this point. And a break while working would give both a chance to think and reassess.

As for questions, there is really very limited access. It is up to the studio whether they’re going to allow audience questions of the actors and even when they do, they’re extremely limited. And he can always say, as he has done before, that he isn’t going to answer that. The reporters who get to ask questions in the corridors before/after each event are usually limited to one or two questions per actor and if they’re there to cover films, they aren’t going to blow their one question by asking about Taylor Swift. The bigger entities, the Chris Hardwicks, Entertainment Weekly, THR, Josh Horowitz are there to write articles about the films. They lose their credibility with the studios if they start to delve into other topics and the studios will limit access. Also, on the Happy/Sad/Confused podcast, Josh said that not only is he personally not interested in asking relationship questions, it isn’t his schtick, Tom made it clear to him that he was only going to acknowledge the relationship and would not be talking about it beyond that.

As for the general public, while gossip is a huge business, the general public really doesn’t follow it all that closely. Most of the general public is unaware who Tom is, may be aware Taylor has a new boyfriend, probably doesn’t care much about it, may be aware who Kim and Kanye are but pay no attention to them and may be aware there is some sort of tiff between them and Kim, but don’t care.

    • Dara says:

Warner Bros is featuring six films in their 2-hour time slot – that’s not a lot of time for fan interaction – one overlong answer from Tom and KSI’s allotted time is shot in the a$$. But yes, I agree it will be a good way to re-connect with his existing fans, and it will be fun to see the Monkey Movie group reunited. I hope the film is well received.

      • lilacflowers says:

Two of my co-workers only go see monster or dinosaur movies. They are excited super excited about this movie and keep asking me when it opens.

  20. Kinnakee says:

That’s something you could use as an exemple when you’re trying to explain what a catch-22 situation is: he’s damned if he stays, he’s damned if he leaves. And I don’t think that calling it trolling will work at this point. 😉

It occurs to me that so many of us wish that Hollywood would come up with something new for entertainment instead of vistas of prequels, sequels, and re-makes. Why can’t creative writers get some new ideas and crank out some original screenplays?

Well, I think maybe we got our wish. The Taylor and Tom thing started out as the Summer of Love, and has morphed into a weird distortion of….I don’t know….I was going to say Beauty and The Beast Through The Looking Glass and on to the Andrea Doria. I know that doesn’t fit, but I cannot think of anything like it. Because it’s new and insanely intricately underhanded and a betrayal of The Princess in a most wonderful way. Kim K., of all people, pulling Rapunzel out of her tower. It’s a good thing Prince Dreamboat showed up for the juicy part of the story. Will there be a duel? A swordfight? The Princess’s honor must be avenged! And there’s a wicked dark-haired vixen who…..~turntable scratch ~ well, Taylor wanted a fairytale.

All that’s left now is a gentle tap on Tommy’s forehead with Thor’s hammer.

    • Lilacflowers says:

      Will this be a musical?

      • EscapedConvent says:

Do you think it would work? Who should play Tom? Fassy, maybe? I think Fassy dances, but not like Tommy. The part of Taylor will be played by Joni Mitchell, in a quirky reversal of fortune that will cause Taylor to fall unconscious and upon waking, she will have acquired a very rare neurological disorder called “Foreign Accent Syndrome.”. No one will know what accent or language she will speak, and there isn’t time for Rosetta Stone to whip together a course that everyone can take in time for opening night. Taylor dreamed of playing Joni Mitchell, and isn’t fate funny like that? Joni will play her, and will bitch the entire performance because the songs just aren’t up to her standards.

I’m sorry my fanciful nightmare above posted twice. It wouldn’t post, and then it did. I’m tiptoeing away now. •curtsy•

      • lilacflowers says:

        I think it would work.

    • Spiderpig says:

There are loads of amazing original screenplays, it’s just studios won’t green light them because they’re considered a financial risk. /bitter/

      Your idea is ace though.

  22. Guesto says:

I hope he does come to his senses and bails if only so I don’t have to read any more mind-numbing idiocy about people I normally avoid like the plague. I feel like I’m losing braincells on a daily basis having to plough through this shitstorm of stupidity in order to find the laughs that once was TayTo. RIP to that.

@MI6 – love your THexit and Taytanic! 😀

    • Kitten says:

      That’s what I’m saying. Where’s the funny?
      Boo. 🙁

This now reminds me of watching ‘Dr Who’ aged 7, from behind a cushion. I almost can’t bear to watch, but part of me has to.

  24. holly hobby says:

Tom should really hatch an exit plan. No amount of money and great sex is worth dealing with this crap – and it will be constant because this special snowflake thinks anyone who doesn’t think like her is the enemy and should be taken down with a song.

    • seesittellsit says:

There is no exit plan – he is in far too deep at this point, after getting his family involved in pap walks. As for great sex . . . ummm, depends whom you ask . . . great cover, more like, and oodles of money and attention.

      • silverunicorn says:

exactly… There was never an exit plan at all.

I don’t even get why he should leave… Why? Was he deaf and blind in the last decade? She has made a fuss of every single story, she has lied and manipulated situations and people ad infinitum.
I don’t understand why we want to make Tom become an innocent victim in all of this.
        What goes around comes around.

    • LadyLoo says:

He’s living Jonathan Pine’s life right now. Living it. In too deep. No way out. Screwed, but not literally: no one has good sex with this sort of thing going on.

  25. Fa says:

She will hide until the Emmy A and she will make her red carpet debut with little Tom in her harm that will a great PR entrance and everything will be forget

  26. K.C. says:

Amazing how when they first got together, it seemed like it couldn’t possibly turn into more of a ****storm with all the conspiracies flying about. Then Calvin went cray, and things got dramatic. Now Kimye has entered the mix, and what started off as something lighthearted and fun has taken a hideous turn. That’s no fault of Tom’s, but still. Tiddles was a lot more fun a week ago. I don’t necessarily even blame Taylor for Kimye bringing this topic up again, but now that they have, it’s not a cute look on her. I really can’t believe how quickly all things Taylor have spun out of control in the matter of a month. It is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I miss the Tiddlesbanging Tour 2016. 🙁

In all this mess, I hope Tom is happy. I’m not saying that sarcastically, I really do hope he is. He’s a good guy by all accounts.

    • Guesto says:

If he’s happy, then it kind of suggests that he’s as blindly ambitious as she is.

      But hey. 🙂

    • popup says:

He’s keeping busy advising Taylor. He knows what Taylor is going through; he played the part.

TayTay: Reputation, reputation, reputation! Reputation, reputation, reputation! O, I have lost my reputation! I have lost the immortal part of myself, and what remains is bestial. My reputation, Hiddles, my reputation!

Hiddles: As I am an honest man, I thought you had received some bodily wound. There is more sense in that than in reputation. Reputation is an idle and most false imposition, oft got without merit and lost without deserving. You have lost no reputation at all unless you repute yourself such a loser.

    • daisie-b says:

I seriously doubt he reads the twitter threads speculating about his relationship, career, or whether or not this fan or that fan will ever buy a ticket again. HE KNOWS!!! No one can buy this much publicity. His team is probably sifting through the offers. Taylor has probably written her next album in the last ten days. Nothing promotes creativity like conflict. I can’t wait to see what she titles it. She is still #1 and holds that spot for 12 more months. Whether or not Tom wins an Emmy, his name is everywhere.

      • LadyLoo says:

        Okay.

Quick, Luke Windsor, grab some of this for your next phone call with Tom!

    • Luca76 says:

    • Bonzo says:

I’ve said it before and it bears repeating…

      Water seeks its own level.

Tom knew what he was getting in to and who he was getting in bed with. If this is the kind of person he wants to be closely associated with, then he has more in common with her than you want to believe. He likes what he sees and isn’t bothered by the things she’s being called out for. That says something about him and his character. We are attracted to those we want to be like.

This mess isn’t going to be over any time soon. Lots of cringing and mickey-taking to be done still.

  29. KatM says:

Gee, I wonder who fed the press all of this information? If you love someone so deeply, have some self-respect and keep some of it to yourself. There is no need to plaster it on social media or discuss it with anyone in the press. It all seems so forced and that is why they are both being laughed at. Same with her “friendships.” It is all so rehearsed and ridiculous. As for him, maybe there is a part of him that wishes he could gracefully exit, but that is going to be very difficult now. She will go into extreme meltdown if he leaves her now. I am sure he is aware that this is somewhat a disaster.

    • LadyLoo says:

It’s the media. They just can’t leave Taytay alone. Same with the paps. Why, or why won’t they leave her out of the narrative…she never asked to be part of the narrative.

      • KatM says:

Taylor was fully engaged in this “narrative” when she made that speech giving the public the impression that she had no clue that the song even existed before she heard it. Swift’s Grammys speech was completely unnecessary, and her initial denial about knowing anything about the content of the song was completely unnecessary. That being said, she and K. West are both accountable for their childish and ridiculous behavior.

      • LadyLoo says:

I hope you realize I was being sarcastic, KatM!! Just wanted to make sure as your answer was kind of serious!

      • KatM says:

Yes, I know! : ) Just making a point about how ridiculous this whole thing is. I get tired of her being painted as a victim. It is all good LadyLoo! : ) : ) : )

      • Maire3 says:

@LadyLoo, I do enjoy your comments, like your Night Manager references above, but have to admit I was a bit confuddled with this one.

Someone should have declared a sarcasm font when they created the interwebs. Having “/s” footnote my comments generally helps avoid confusion.

  30. LadyLoo says:

I love it when my so supportive bf shows his support by…going running in the same outfit every morning.

I’m assuming that’s how he’s showing his support.

Or did he show support by declining his invitation to the #taylorswiftisoverparty? Or by refusing to attend the #kimexposedtaylorparty?

    • KatM says:

Hahahaha…I am surprised she doesn’t dress him the morning. It is too bad he doesn’t wear one of her cheesy tour t-shirts or tank tops.

    • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

Ah, but he also showed his support by getting her takeout after a long day of work.

After all, nothing says “togetherness” like a pap walk alone, juggling bags and bottles.

  31. LadyLoo says:

I believe he may be training/jogging so much because he’s going to attempt to run so fast that he reverses the rotation of the planet in order to turn back time to…let’s say, June 14.

Superman is his favorite superhero after all.

  32. methinks says:

    good for him.

  33. Andrea says:

I can’t with people acting like this mid to late 30s man is a victim. Who is to say he isn’t just like her. You know what they say like attracts like. Look at Calvin and her. They are very much alike. The guys who aren’t like her ran off after weeks. The circumstances that this latest man has pretty much let her move in with him after a couple of weeks makes me think he’s no better than she is.

    • Flowerchild says:

This ^^^^ Tom is not a victim he is a willing participants in this whole mess. If this PR stunt didn’t turn out how he thought it would then that’s on him not Taylor he decided to play it he game with her.

    • silverunicorn says:

It’s a pity I should scroll down the entire thread to find a sensible comment.

  34. Chels says:

Do you think tom dances around to his old Calvin Harris CDs when Taylor’s not there?
    Tom Hiddleston @twhiddelston.
“Late to the party but I have only just discovered “We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris)”, Rihanna. What a flipping TUNE. #dancinglikealoon”

    The mind ponders🤔

    • LadyLoo says:

He’s not allowed to experience joy anymore. He’s only allowed two emotions: supportive or so supportive.

    • twilly says:

Why would he do that? Say he just discovered that song that she denied writing.

      • Dara says:

That tweet is from years ago – long before he ever imagined having a relationship with Ms. Swift. I’m surprised his tweets about Nicki Minaj haven’t resurfaced as well. He enjoys her music as well – or did.

  35. Grace says:

Ladies, have you seen ‘James Corden Enters the Kanye-Kim-Taylor Drama’ from his late late show? This bit concerns Taylor Swift’s relationship status got me laugh so much: ‘I don’t even know if she’s with someone right now… you can check on the Internet, but she’s super private about that kind of stuff. She really doesn’t let people know what’s going on in her personal life… ‘
