There’s a lot of fuss over these new nude photos (NSFW) that are supposed to be Rihanna. These came almost right after photos of singer Cassie topless and now spread-eagle have leaked. While Cassie’s topless photos look convincingly real as they show her face, (I’m not as convinced about the full frontal one as it’s grainy) and Cassie herself confirmed that her computer was “hacked” to “steal” the pics, it’s hard to tell with the Rihanna pics.
Why it might not be Rihanna
- None of the nude pictures that are close up show her face
- There are closeup photos only of Rihanna’s face but there is no way to verify that it is the same person shown nude. (e.g. nails are not visible so we can check if they’re the same color, the outfit is not the same, the sheet pattern is not seen in other shots, jewelry is not the same)
- In the single faraway photo that shows “Rihanna” half-dressed and taking a photo in the mirror it looks like the head is pasted onto the body. The hair is flat on one side like it was erased, the head is too small for the body, and the head is on a white background where it could easily be cut out and replaced. It’s hard to tell though.
Why it could be Rihanna
- Rihanna has her right nipple pierced and we know what her nipples look like (sorry to be so graphic) from when she wore a see through shirt. If you compare the photo taken in the mirror that shows her right nipple pierced and the shape and size of her chest it looks the same as in that see-through picture.
- Writing on the mirror says “Robyn,” Rihanna’s real name, although this could easily be added on later.
Rihanna’s people are sending cease and desists to websites publishing the pictures, calling them a violation of her rights. They do not confirm or deny that it’s actually Rihanna. If it wasn’t her, you would think they would just deny it.

Well, the “worst” of the pics definitely could not be directly verified as Rihanna, so I’m not convinced (except on the bathroom one but come now that’s tame in comparison)
I wasn’t convinced on the spread eagle photo of Cassie, either, for the same reason as you Celebitchy.

I’m not sure it’s Rihanna because the timing is a bit off and we do not have any proof but congratulations to Eve Ensler, she wrote played & started in the Vagina Monologues in the 90′s and planted the seeds(not intentionally)for a whole new generation of young women loving there vajajays so much that they can’t seem to stop photographing or filming it!!!
It’s time for a new group of young women who should bring it to the stage again. THE VAJAJAYS MONOLOGUES 2009 starring…Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, Cassie, (Rihanna)or use an old fashioned handmirror if you like to looke at it that much ??? Much saver for the computerhackers out there !!!

I think too many people assume that any picture of a celebrity must be photo shopped.
The pictures are her. It’s obvious and plain to see.
The photographs could have been taken at different times so,the consistency of outfits/accessories shouldn’t matter.

In the pic where she’s leaning against the wall half-naked, im pretty convinced it is her because of that tattoo she has going down her hip. As for the others, I’m not too sure, but the hands look the same and they all have her signature black nail polish. sad to say, but i believe its her =(

You knwo Im sick of celebrities whining about their rights being violated when they take such pics. Dont take nude pics of yourself and nobody will see you naked. I bet this was chris’s doing too. Like maybe she sent him those pics and now that they are over he’s usinjg this against her.
Getting a look at the bathroom and bed room she livesd a depressing life. Everything is white, empty and huge wide spaces. Why would a single person wanna live in such a huge place?

Unfortunately for Rihanna, these pictures do appear to be real. She has a unique figure and to me, it was obviously her. On the plus side, shes got a really beautiful body and she was smart enough not to include a nude photo with her face.
On the mirror you can read “I love you Robyn. I miss you” which makes me think Chris Brown is responsible for the message on the glass. He could have contacted the hotel’s management to write it for him if he couldn’t do it himself (which could account for the somewhat feminine handwriting)… which brings me to my point: I think Rihanna sent Chris these pictures as a “Thank You” for leaving her the romantic message… And I think Chris Brown leaked them.

Its dumb to take these pics and I agree about Chris sending them. It’s OBVIOUS. So many pics of her and only one pic of him thats conveniently cut off below the waist. He probably wrote the thing on the mirror and she sent him a thank you pic like Katharine said.
Chris Brown is trying to take Rihanna down because he’s in a shithole career-wise and she listened to everybody around her and left him so he leaked these to damage her career.

The one picture that is far away when she is in I’m guessing the shower has to be her. The whole hair situation of it being flat on one side, she wears her hair like that a lot. I have no doubts in my mind that it is her.

@kbaybee very good catch on the hip tattoo. You can also see the gun tattoo(s?) on her chest. I googled “Rihanna hip tattoo” and it is there. Also, where are the photos of Chris Brown with the underwear on his head? Is he off to the side or something? Egotastic doesn’t have them and they’re not in the other set linked by D-Listed.

How about this for a theory: the photos were released with Rhianna’s knowledge. Brown wants to destroy her “good girl” image and create negative hype around her to help him in his court case. But, she’s in on it and agrees to tarnish her own image because she “loves” him. To his irrational supporters, the pics will furnish further “proof” that she’s a “bad girl” who deserved a beating. Her image can take a hit since it’s so much better than his and the only mark against her now is that she took him back. Yeah, it’s far-fetched, but he’s such a manipulator I’ll bet he convinced her to do it as a “sacrifice” for their love. And she still has his $54,000 engagement ring.

I don’t think what Rihanna has done is a giant step back for feminism, rather the reaction it is getting is the step backward.
I mean, what is so bad about the female body that we have to shame any person who dares to take a photo of it and make it public? We all (women) have these bodies under our clothes, why is it considered so wrong to admit it or show it? I know it is inappropriate and there’s a time & place and all that, but still… is it really that bad? Why do we have to hide ourselves?

(sorry for long post) Annabelle: I hear what you’re saying, but to me, it’s about self-respect and how you present yourself. I think she’s doing herself a disservice by presenting herself in such a way…I look at those pictures and think too much self-indulgence. It’s not that I think pictures of women are shameful, I don’t think women’s bodies are shameful, in fact I think the female form is quite beautiful and I have plent of artwork of the female body. and even showing oneself isn’t wrong. Women are beautiful and shouldn’t be ashamed of their bodies. But there’s something about this proliferation of women taking photos of themselves and sending them on, showing them all over the internet that seems wrong to me (tho I agree Chris betrayed her in this one…big surprise there). i just can’t get on board with it. Are comments like mine a step backward. Well, I think we should hold ourselves to a better standard than as a sexual object – I think we can do better than that. I get with if you’ve got, flaunt it, i get being young, and making dumb mistakes, I’ve been there. I just can’t help but watch her though and think she’s not doing herself any favours, you know? there is more to oneself than how one looks, how others perceive you and if you’re tied too closely to how much men like you because of how you look, you may need a bit of help. I don’t like to criticise her, but it’s like, I can’t criticize her behavior b/c I too am a women? No, that doesn’t work for me. feminism doesn’t mean that you can’t criticize other women’s behaviors. sissou: what does empowered young women mean? My feeling is that for many young women it means something different than what I would consider to be empowered.In any case, I don’t think it’s right for anyone to be taking pictures such as these and then sending them on. It’s just too easy for someone to take advantage of you. Or are you saying that posting pics of oneself is empowering? I disagree and think that the feeling one gets from it is illusory (sp?). Perhaps it’s not a feminism issue as much as it’s a behavioural issue. Sometimes when I hear or see someone that thinks they’re acting empowered, I just think, it’s another way of going “look at ME, look at MEEEE” and I call that boasting. Or having one’s head up one’s a**. THat kind of thing. And I think there’s WAY too much of it on the net. I don’t mean to slam Rhianna. She’s just doing what a lot of girls are doing and it’s that phenomenon that I object to, or worry about, or whatever.

Pfff. I’ve taken similar photos of myself and sent them to my boyfriend. I’m not a slut, I’m not promiscuous. It was a gift to my man and the excitement in it is the fact that it’s naughty. There’s nothing at all wrong with Rihanna taking these photos (although I’m not sure they’re all her). She’s a grown woman and what she does in private is none of our business. The only thing wrong with this is that the photos were leaked into the media.
