Sometimes, when people find out I gossip for a living they’ll ask me questions that make it clear that they look at the tabloid covers but don’t follow the news. I’ve heard “Is it true that Cher is dying?” and “are Brad Pit and Angelina Jolie getting divorced?” Then I try to explain that the covers of tabloids are like click bait to get you to buy them and are rarely true. It’s the secondary filler stories about the celebrities that people don’t care about as much that end up being accurate. So that’s what came to mind when I saw this new story on Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez getting back together. This is in Life & Style, which doesn’t exactly have a solid track record, and it’s a story which the larger tabloids, in this case Star, have already thought of. Star had the angle that Jennifer Garner busted Ben texting with J.Lo but L&S takes it a step further and claims that they’re getting back together. Alas, it’s not true. Maybe.
The new cover of Life & Style touts, “Inside their secret plans as the exes rekindle their relationship 12 years later.” Inside the magazine, a headline declares, “Ben & J.Lo’s Second Chance Love!” It’s said, “Reunited at last! After their relationships crumble, exes Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez reconnect.”
“With J.Lo suddenly single and Jennifer Garner preparing to officially file for divorce from Ben, the former couple have been busy reconnecting,” writes the outlet. A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “They’ve been talking on the phone for hours at a time. Their relationship was always intense and had a lot of passion. It’s like they are back together already.”
It’s alleged Lopez “made the first move.” The supposed source claims, “After splitting from Casper [Smart], she reached out to Ben. She thinks he could be the one and is convinced they’ll make the perfect couple.” As for Affleck, it’s said he’s “open to reuniting, too.” The alleged tipster even adds, “Once his divorce is official, she’d love to be running around town with him.”
And yet the tabloid goes on to acknowledge that Affleck and Lopez haven’t even spent any time “face to face” and still need to “arrange an in-person date.” But here we have the magazine’s cover announcing they’re “back together…
And a contact close to Affleck’s side also deems the cover story “crazy.” “They have their own lives,” notes our contact.
This is curious wording right? It’s “crazy” and “they have their own lives.” My spidey sense is tingling but I just want it to be true. These two were a glorious hot mess together but as I said last week I doubt they’ve exchanged more than a few text messages, if that. They’re each seeking solace in randoms I would guess, but no one denied this outright other than to call it crazy.

As an aside, have you seen Jennifer Garner in Telluride, where she’s promoting her movie, Wakefield, with Bryan Cranston? She looks incredible. She’s also wearing better shoes even to church, which is a sign to me that something is going on. I want Garner to get a new boyfriend, like a really hot wholesome type who will dote on her. You know that would drive Affleck crazy. He still thinks of her as his wife despite the fact that he never could be faithful.

Anyway, jlo is a step way up from garner in the looks and body department. Garner seemed like a political marriage to make Ben look good. I still don’t believe this or want jlo to get back with him. Ben is a sleeze and jlo out earns him by more than 200 million. Her love don’t cost a thing though. Lol. But she dumped every guy that cheated on her so…
I’ve seen this mentioned before — insinuating that Ben wanted to get married to improve his image. Eh. He married Garner because she got pregnant. I think she had been obsessed with him for years and wanted a commitment. He may not have realized it at first but constructing a (fake) Mr. Family Man image was the way out of being a total joke. Then he bought into it and both he and Jen used their Perfect Hollywood Family But We’re So Normal image to further their careers. The truth about their situation surfaced, though — it always does. I doubt he ever stopped screwing other women, gambling, drinking, smoking, etc. Garner just looked the other way and covered up for him. Once the truth was out, there was no point to the charade anymore and they split.
I know! I want them to have a very public fling just for the entertainment value.
Garner DOES look great in those pics…not sure I could pull off that dress but I really like it and her shoes are great.
A girl I know (who dresses comfortably whatever the occasion) saw Jennifer Garner all dolled up at tiff, and JG went out of her way to remark how much she wished she was in this girl’s comfy mom shoes. Never change Jenn, never change.

I loved Bennifer but am sure this is bs. I still have the image of him looking away from her as she embraced him with red rimmed eyes. He was so over her and she knew it. She was thisclose to marriage and he ran for the hills. Seriously doubt there would ever be a Bennifer 2.0. Jlo was for the young Ben. I want her to date someone hotter than him, but who will be more loyal and more of the family-man type she really deserves. As much as people like to trash her saying she’s controlling, this or that, she is a good woman who was loyal to her husband. I think she stayed with him because she loved him, respected their marriage, and wanted it to work. I always wished that she would end up with Mark Ruffalo. I think they have real chemistry and would have made a lovely real-life couple!That said, since that ship has sailed, I still hope that she finds a hot, awesome, and really likeable guy, just to rub it in Ben Affleck’s face. Jen Doormat Garner will never divorce Ben Affleck. He’s her only tether to the A list. Capital One commercials and movies that go nowhere ain’t cutting it. Finding someone more famous than him is problematic because it sets her up for Failed Public Marriage #3. Finding a civilian doesn’t keep the media interested in her and how would she spend her days if not doing gym and shopping strolls for the paps? No, I don’t believe that she and Affleck will divorce. Not sure how exactly they plan to reconfigure this sham of a marriage to spin it in a positive light but I’m sure they’re going to try. Both are too obsessed with PR and their public image to abandon it. The only reason they even get tabloid covers is because it’s such a trainwreck.
I think the opposite. The best thing for her image is to NOT go back. She is building herself back up. She has been tied to high fashion, political fundraising, volunteering awards and some other high profile, leadership type activities in addition to movies at festivals. Mark Shriver has tweeted on her behalf several times. She has some influentual friends. I think we will see her brand expand in interesting ways. Affleck is a loose cannon and hurts her image of strength and stability moving forward. I do believe it’s just about the kids now for her in terms of that relationship. Having seen just the stuff that’s been public the past few months by him…can you imagine what did not become public? She knows way more than we do certainly. When the finances are worked out, they’ll divorce.
We will agree to disagree. I don’t think she looks strong or stable at all right now. She looks like she’s desperately clinging to a bad marriage. He still lives at home, they still do vacations and holidays away together. She isn’t dating or anything that might show that she’s moving on with her personal life. As for the other stuff that she’s doing — Alias was 15 years ago. She’s middle-aged and underemployed. The only interesting thing about her is her marriage to Batman. She only gets to play at the A list game because of her connection to him. If they were still publicly “together,” the Clinton fundraiser she co-hosted probably would have been a big dinner in LA with tickets going for $$$$, not some tiny potatoes thing in Montana where the cheapest ticket was $100. Seriously, that’s pitiful. I saw pics online, it looked sad. Don’t even talk to me about the fashion show thing, that is a joke. This woman has no style, has never been known for it (quite the opposite actually) and that’s a younger woman’s game anyway. It benefits her brand (husband/kids/church/charity) way more to be married to him, problematic as he is. Without the marriage, she’s just another 40-something divorcee, cast aside and getting older and more wrinkly by the minute.

It was only a few weeks ago that the media was saying Ben and Garner were trying to work things out and would probably get back together in time. If that’s true, and JLo is still making a move, I think it’s pretty crappy. But who knows what the truth is?
If she gets back with him, then JLO is pathetic. What is it about him that has her so hung up? She makes it seem that he’s the love of her life, the one that got away etc, meanwhile he’s said on multiple occasions that that time was the lowest part of his life and how he even regretting being in her music video, he was even unfaithful to her (which is no surprise). Jen Garner used to look like a million dollars right down to her toenails. Marriage to Ben Affleck changed all of that. I always think back to what he did when he was asked about how he felt when JLo got married after they broke up. He flashed a thumbs up.
