Chrissy Teigen goes all out for daughter Luna’s first Halloween with 8 costumes

I think I am the resident anti-kid (for the most part) writer here, but there’s nothing like seeing cute kids in adorable Halloween costumes to warm my icy little heart. I eagerly anticipate what “best Dads ever,” Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka ,dress their kids as for the spooky holiday, and once again, they do not disappoint. That begin said, there’s a new junior Queen of Halloween, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s adorable daughter, Luna.

It’s Luna’s first Halloween, so proud mama Chrissy wanted to make the most of it, showcasing her heavenly six-month-old daughter in not one, but eight different costumes. Chrissy posted pictures on Instagram over the weekend of Luna modeling a wide array of looks ranging from food to fairy tale princesses.

The costume parade looks like it had the potential to end before it really had a chance to get going, judging by Luna’s face while channeling the saddest hot dog ever. Chrissy posted a picture of Luna, most likely looking for Daddy John to help her get out of the costume, with the caption, “Have you ever seen a more ‘why me?’ face?”

have you ever seen a more "why me?" face 😭

The next look, a peacock headdress, didn’t seem to be a favorite either, as Luna valiantly attempted to wriggle out of it while Mom asked, “You can’t possibly think I only bought the hot dog?”

Things began to look up for Luna with some costumes that were more worthy of the little princess she is. She made for a winning Minnie Mouse, a fetching Little Red Riding Hood and a charming Alice in Wonderland – a costume which Chrissy said, “Needs more flair.” I disagree.

I didn’t think I was going to post all of the pictures, but Luna’s tribute to Grease’s Pink Ladies is too much. Of course, Luna’s face again says it all. If she’s working on that “jaded model” look she’s already got it down. Too freaking cute.

Ok ok no

The future model’s last look was a fetching hula ensemble, given to Chrissy by the crew of Lip Sync Battle. And, in a cool move, Chrissy donated the outfit, and all of the other holiday togs to charity. She captioned the snap, “OK that is a wrap on costumes. Some were sent to us from very kind vendors, but we are going to donate them all tonight so other families can get the same joy out of them.”

I just can’t with all of this cuteness. I’m predicting a Legend/Teigen vs. Harris/Burtka “Kids’ Halloween Costume Battle” may have just begun. I’m already looking forward to next year.

Luna is adorable! My friend had multiple costumes for her baby too because you only get a first halloween once. However, Chrissy’s thirst is tiresome.

  2. Margo S. says:

How has John never carved a pumpkin before?!?! Isn’t he AMERICAN?!

  3. Aang says:

Real question, and I’m not making a statement. Are hula costumes still ok? And how do they compare to native American costumes?

    • my3cents says:

Just wondering the same thing myself.

      • KittenFarts says:

Oh here we go…… it’s a baby for crying out loud! If the first thing that comes to your mind is “but couldn’t this be offensive?” That’s pretty sad

      • aang says:

kittenfarts I think it is adorable and have no problem with it. I’m seriously perplexed why this doesn’t bother people but a Native American costume, or Khloe in a Storm costume, or a random guy in a Saudi looking robe makes everyone go nuts? Is it ok for kids but not adults? Are hula costumes different for some reason? It is a genuine question, not an opinion because I really don’t care about or get offended by any of those things. The idea of appropriation is relatively new to me, I’m a bit older than many posters here. I’m looking for rules and explanation of people’s opinions. I am of mixed race for context.

    • MissMarierose says:

I’m not an expert or anything but perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Hawaiians will invite visitors at a luau to wear a hula skirt and try to dance.
But inland Natives do not invite non-tribal members to wear the clothing that has specific ceremonial or religious meaning.
If a people encourage others to participate, it’s not appropriation because that word is literally defined as taking something for one’s own use, without the owner’s permission.

  4. Jayna says:

That poor baby looks like she isn’t having much fun being mommy’s dress-up doll over and over for Halloween photos.

    • dholmas says:

I agree. She does not look happy. I would not either having to change eight times. Please.

    • Alix says:

Agreed. Eight costumes is over the top. The child is not a dress-up doll.

      • crtb says:

This child will have a life time of Halloweens. Mother doesn’t need to stuff a decade of costumes in one day. If she want so dress her up she can do so for Thanksgiving, Xmas, Valentines, St. Patricks, Easter, July 4…Don’t need one day or an excuse to play dress up

      • Wiffie says:

THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF BABIES?

    • Original T.C. says:

      +10000

If this had been Kim K, she would have been RIGHTFULLY blasted for using her poor kid to entertain her social media fans. I feel bad for the little girl having to endure so many custom changes as though she were a Barbie doll!

    • Pandy says:

Yeah, Chrissy should have bought a chihuahua if she wanted something alive to play dolly with.

    • fruitloops says:

Eh, you all speak as if none of you have children. This is a baby and if she minded the dressing up she would have cried and wouldn’t have let anyone do it. And some babies don’t smile all the time while others do.

      • Sabrine says:

some silly comments on here. The baby is just fine being dressed up. She’s getting tons of love and attention and that’s what matters. She doesn’t look upset at all, just not screaming with laughter which I assume you think is what she should be doing.

  5. Tiffany27 says:

Good LORD that’s a cutie pie right there!

  6. Snowpea says:

I’m Aussie so this Halliween caper is not something I really understand but I really like Chrissy and her kid is cute.

  7. Nicole says:

    Luna is so stinking cute.

  8. Ayra. says:

The hotdog costume was EVERYTHING. Luna looks tired of everyone lol

  9. Brunswickstoval says:

I have to wonder would she do all this if she wasn’t posting it on Instagram? 6 month old babies usually don’t like getting dressed once a day let alone 8 times for the entertainment of her mother and followers.

    • Clare says:

I’ve said this on here before – my mum dressed me in all manner of bizarre costumes as a child (and this continued well into my pre-teens, voluntarily). There was no instagram, obvs, and it was just because she (and then I) thought it was hilarious.

Those ridiculous photos of me dressed as random fruits, animals and cartoon characters (I was dressed as a Turkey one thanksgiving dinner) are some of my favorites. Needless to say it was not done for attention or public consumption, and just…because.

I hope Chrissy is doing it for the same reasons – the sheer bizarreness and hilarity of child in ridic costume. And, I hope this kid will treasure these silly photos as much as I do.

      • swak says:

Question, did your mom dress you in 8 costumes in one day? I like the cute costumes but 8 in one day for a 6 month old is a little over the top.

    • Marlene says:

A six month old needs a diaper change every couple of hours. They can drool, spill and spit their way through a dozen onesies per day. They have no sense of what is going on, other than their parents are tending to them. They eat, poo and sleep at that age.

  10. Lucy says:

Luna has John’s face! She’s so precious. She and Prince George should hang out sometime.

  11. Cool Character says:

    Too many costumes.

    Kid looks bored

  12. Patricia says:

Somebody ring the “extra” bell and give Chrissy a time-out!!!

  13. manta says:

    “The future model’s last look”
You know she does all of this to read such feedback. Kid better not be bored, this is just the beginning for her, being mama’s little prop.
I can already predict that each year will have to outdo the last , gaining her satisfying titles as Queen, Halloween winner, bestest ever.
No denying the child is cute though.

  14. Otaku Fairy says:

She looks adorable with that bored expression on her face and those little dark brown eyes.

  15. Piper says:

She said that several costumes were given to her by vendors, so this was her way of sharing and thanking them publicly. I don’t think she was trying to be excessive. And I had a lot of fun dressing my daughters up in different outfits. Because at that age they’re just so darn adorable.

  16. CM says:

    She is so adorable 😀

  17. Chell says:

She is a new mom & it’s the first Halloween! She is having fun as she should!
And props to her for donating the costumes to others.

  18. Eyes Wide Awake says:

Is changing a baby’s costume multiple times seriously being equated to some kind of bad parenting?! Is this the society we live in? Something as mundane and silly as this must be analyzed and scrutinized by the perfect anonymous mothers of the internet? It’s FUN people! She is not hurting that baby! How did we become these people?!

  19. Mimz says:

Oh my, I get that people don’t likke Chrissy but all the moaning about her “making her baby girl wear 8 outfits is borderline cruel and unnecessary” bc omg chrissy is so thirsty *insert eyeroll emoji here*
I don’t have kids, but this is IG and snapchat age, people share everything, and if i had a baby girl and had 8 costumes for halloween i’d try them all on her too! And maybe share them online! I mean, isnt it true that many parents go crazy with the cute baby clothing before birth and especially when they are very little? it’s hard to walk in a shop and not buy all the beautiful things, for many parents.
She’s just being a gushy parent like many others.
    For F’s sake.

    • InVain says:

Exactly. I follow her on IG (shameless)…and these were all posted over the course of a week…not all at once, on the same day. Doesn’t mean she didn’t dress her up all on the same day, but just saying. Also, some of Chrissy’s jewelry is different in the pics. Leave the woman alone, she might be thirsty…but that baby is damn cute and I’d want to share that too.

  20. Jade says:

She’s such a cutie. I think it’s fine and at least the remaining costumes are given away. But I will give her the side eye if she’s doing this every year hmmm…..

Then again, who am I to judge gushy parents. I might be one!

  21. Kat says:

I just want to point out that Chrissy thanked the vendors who sent her the costumes and they were going to be donated (she didn’t say to who) so they could be enjoyed by other families for Halloween. I think the dress up was cute and she seems like any other mom. I like Chrissy, I admit it!

  22. detnow359 says:

Chrissy and John tried to conceive for many years and finally had Luna and enjoyed her first Halloween. Is 8 a lot of costumes? Probably but they had fun and vendors wanted to dress her baby up, which appears to have been over several days not one day. She’s a cute so I personally enjoyed seeing her many looks at a time when I’m down.

  23. Rina says:

Luna is lovely! She is very cute. 🙂

  24. Rina says:

Luna looks a lot her dad, John. She is an adorable baby girl. Aww….
