Perhaps he will be our last president, because I’m sure he’s trying to figure out a way to declare himself Lord Commander of The Wall for life. Ugh, so let’s do this. Fashion notes: the one nice thing I’ll say about La Familia de Baby Fists and this entire sh-tshow was that I genuinely thought Melania looked nice. Traditionally, Republican wives wear red to inaugural events, but Melania chose an ice-blue Ralph Lauren suit for the inauguration and a white gown by Hervé Pierre for the inaugural balls. Apparently, Melania approached Pierre for the gown, and he says that she already knew exactly what she wanted.

Trump is unhinged. His inaugural address confirmed his world view that everything that came before him was a disaster and everything that he will do will be miraculous and wonderful. I’m not sure what the DSM disagnosis is for that personality disorder, but coupled with his pathological need to be worshiped and adored, he is truly terrifying.

Not a psychiatrist but I’d hazard a guess at narcissist? I have no sympathy for the guy but he also (to me) always looks really depressed. Whatever it is, there is definitely something going on with him that it isn’t good.

Trump strikes as being much the same as Anders Bering Breivik (the Norwegian mass murderer) – not clinically insane but living with a world view that is almost completely divorced from the world around him.
His inability to discern between truth and falsehood is terrifying given the position he now inhabits – as is the fragility of his ego and his poor impulse control. He is embarrasing himself with these antics and it would be funny if it wasn’t for the position of power he now holds. He is a very dangerous man – dangerous for Ameria and dangerous for the world.

On Inauguration day, Friday, January 20, 2017; the National Parks had their website/internet/Twitter taken down! The Department of Interior took action after a tweet was shared via the National Park Service account unfavorably comparing the attendance at Trump’s 2017 inauguration to that of Obama’s 2009. Pictures don’t lie but the Trump people do.
This incompetent and harmful action meant visitors/hikers who were visiting or about to visit any National Park in the USA , could not check on road conditions and seek out information on hiking trails or contact the parks should there have been an incident or emergency.
All of this because Obama’s 2009 inauguration crowd was larger than Orange fellow’s 2017 crowd attendance. His crowd bigger than mine. Wahhh!

I look to Roy Cohn for some understanding of baby fists’ mentality. Cohn was the grinding force behind the Second Red Scare and the Lavender Scare, which was all the more craven because Cohn himself was a closeted gay man who died of AIDS. Can you imagine his self hatred behind his hypocrisy? Years later attorney Cohn was disbarred for his unethical legal practices. He was baby fists’ attorney.
Cohn was also baby fists’ mentor when baby fists was starting in real estate. He taught baby fists the truth means nothing. Integrity means nothing. Baby fists believes that only crushing any and all opposition with lies will get him prestige and power. That’s what Cohn wanted and what baby fists wants.

That press conference was AWFUL. And dangerous.
The next time the staffer walks out without answering any questions, the press pack should stage a sit-in until they come back and do so. Not titter and shuffle off. Stage a sit-in until questions are asked and answered.
These accountability sessions are important, whether it’s the WH press conference in the US or PMQs in the UK. Ok, so the ministers or staffers obfuscate and spin when questioned and we all know they do, but they are symbols of democratic accountability. The United States isn’t a dictatorship. It is a mature and stable democratic republic. Representatives of the executive don’t get to come out, harangue the fourth estate and walk off. They get to be interrogated.
Honestly. This is dangerous. Democracies work by consent – of those being governed and those doing the governing. That press conference was indicative of the current executive deciding it doesn’t need consent any more.

The Washington Press Corps is screwed. Confronting the Cheeto-in Chief and his flying monkeys about their crap will only get them banned from the WH press corps and they can’t cover the administration if they don’t have access. It won’t be long before they are the ones in the front row at press conferences and the only ones that get called on for questions, if questions are even allowed.

We were watching the news last night to see coverage of the marches and CNN and MSNBC took Trump to task for lying, for being disrespectful during his CIA visit, and for being so petty as to make his first day in office a pissing match with the media for correctly reporting the facts.
What has been left out of mainstream media to the fact that the press was barred from entering permitted protest sites during the inauguration. Fortunately, half the parade route was lined with protestors and their was no avoiding that in camera shots of the parade.
It’s risky, but I’m sort of hopefully this is happening. This MAJOR wrong is happening. So major the press can become and thrive as it once was. True investigation. Not repeating the words and messages handed of to them.
Trump can’t carry on like this. Not without huge backlash. There’s only so much drivel he can feed even his biggest supporters before they start to wonder wtf is happening. That his promises aren’t happening. And their freedoms and causes, concerns are being neglected.

They can absolutely still report on the content of the press conferences, they just won’t be present to ask questions during them — and it won’t matter anyway, because there won’t be any honest answers. What the real news media can do is report the crazy lies that are told, fact-check them relentlessly, and point out the important questions that the right-wing lickspittle propaganda organs refuse to ask. The non-far-right public will notice when the news programs they normally watch on CNN, MSNBC, and so on, are nothing but constant coverage of how Trump’s press secretary is lying incessantly to Breitbart & Co. and how Trump’s hand-picked media organs are failing to call the lies out.

Trevor Noah (who is actually getting really good) had a great Disney song rendition on his show called “No More Excuses Now” which perfectly laid out the problem with winning; your ideas become policy. That means Trumps administration is now faced with the same set of trade offs that Obama grappled with. In healthcare for example, he is about to lose a lot of those hardcore supporters because either half will have to pay more in so that others are covered or half will lose their health coverage. And lucky for us, he has house majority. This is lucky because he cant even blame Dems when he fails to deliver. Its all on him. So I think his popularity even among the republican base will dip within the first six months. And who knows what the Republicans in the House, especially those he humiliated, will do to him. I think an early impeachment is very likely.
I really hope this is true. This is how it should work but in this new world order nothing seems to make sense anymore. Somehow I could see people’s insurance going up and they’ll STILL find a way to justify their support of Trump.
In the UK, people voted for austerity on the basis that there were idle scroungers and immigrants to hate on and only those people would be hit by it. Six years on and public services they need are in tatters and who are they blaming? @Sixer, They’re done. Ours had her last day early last week, said farewell. There was an “acting” for the last few days but he’s technically done now too. The Department of Justice has not updated its web page so they’re all still listed but none of them are still working and there are no replacements. Everything has ground to a halt. I have co-workers who had cases scheduled for trial this week and the US attorneys office was filing late last week for emergency extensions because they wouldn’t have the authority to represent. Same problem with many agency heads. We will have total chaos in the next few weeks. The man is mind-numbingly unqualified but that his “advisors” were not aware and did not act on these problems is unconscionable and unforgivable. It is as if they really wanted to shut down the government.

@Sixer, because he took office on a Friday and government offices are closed on the weekends, I think few people will realize these problems until the end of the coming week or the one after. However, the US attorneys are supposed to be on call at all times. Things do happen on weekends,, which is why the judiciary branches, even at the highest level, have judges on call. Same with ambassadors, things happen at night and on weekends. In the past, officials served, even though they were expected to submit letters of resignation, until a replacement or an “acting” had been named. Not this time, not this moron of a president.
He already ordered that all diplomats overseas will not be getting the customary ‘finish things up’ time. Maybe he’s relented but it was a stink over here. There are people who have kids in school, etc. Traditionally people have gotten waivers to extend but the administration had said no exceptions.

The most ridiculous part of the crowd argument is the white grass protector made it difficult to see the crowds. in reality, black and white folks would be more visible against a white surface. I live in DC and Metro was sending tweets all morning letting folds know about the availability of parking spaces. yesterday there were hour long waits to get into the subways.

I took at bus in to DC yesterday and they parked at RFK Stadium and then took the metro to the rally/march site. The Metro staff had things running so smoothly, it was great. The crowds and lines just to get up the escalators/steps to board the actual metro after scanning your passes was MASSIVE. We were packed in watching that rally like sardines. It was truly BIGLY lol.

Violation of the emoluments clause, which he violated the moment someone paid a bill, any type of bill, at the hotel on the land he rents from the US government.
He violated the law on his first half-day in office when he sent out a tweet as president then deleted it because he couldn’t spell “honored” (he instead wrote “honered”).
By deleting the tweet, Emperor Zero violated the Freedom of Information Act which applies to all presidents and the official (ie presidential) documents they produce.

He can probably be impeached for all his conflicts of interest, but I doubt the republican congress (and that a$$hole Jason Chavetz) will do it. They are eagerly waiting to roll back all the progressive legislation of the last 150 years.
It’s not a question of what, but WHO will have the guts to do it.
His impeachment needs to be timed to make sure those Americans with chronic short term memory loss (aka most GOP voters) are aware of it November 2018. Ideally it would be during late summer/early fall 2018 when the GOP leadership least wants it so it ties up members of Congress and Trump when they could be out campaigning to help keep their seats or help candidates on the ballot. They would rather not have the attention on a sitting president facing impeachment for conflicts of interest and likely treason while trying to retain multiple governors, their House majority, and attempting to flip a half dozen Senate seats held by Democrats in red states.
I do think the honeymoon period between him and Congress is likely to be very short because he’s not willing to be Ryan and McConnell’s puppet. Look at how they’ve backtracked on the ACA repeal, which is now looking like it won’t happen. I also get the impression that the Democrats in Congress, while still a minority, are more on the same page than the Republicans. Trump’s presidency is only a bandage on Ryan’s fragile coalition in the House.
If the final dots can be connected in terms of any financial links to the Russian government, especially if they helped to fund any components of his campaign and/or he was aware of their funding hacking into the DNC but did not report it, that is treason.
@Kelly, I see absolutely nothing to make me think for an instant that the repeal of the ACA won’t happen. He has already signed legislation to repeal it. Not funding provisions of it while they supposedly hammer out their non-existent “replacement” and not enforcing other provisions during that time can essentially kill major parts of it.

Why should he care how big his crowds were? Can anyone imagine Bush or Obama acting like that? I honestly think Trump is on the verge of a major psychotic break. He acts like he’s losing it.
I could see him having a breakdown, too. The demands of this job are so wide-ranging and he’s so woefully unqualified to handle pretty much any of them that he’s just focusing on the same old crap that he did as a “civilian.” The pressure has got to be eating away at him.

Trump’s latest tweets were hilarious . He was bragging how his TV ratings were higher than Obama’s. The idiot thinks if he says it it’s true. No one compares a second term for a president to the ratings of a newly elected president in his first term. Did he think he was going to get that over on anybody? Obama’s TV ratings were I think almost seven million higher comparing the first terms as incoming presidents.
And Spencer is an absolute joke. He went out there with marching orders from Trump and made a fool of himself. All they do is talk about lies, and they are the ones perpetuating falsehoods.
Trump’s press conference made me want to puke. Is he insane? The media reported on his comments about the CIA, his tweets, but he stood there and blamed his riff with the CIA on the media. And he stands there patting himself on the back, bragging, as usual about all kinds of other things.
I watched Rachel Maddow and her discussion about his press conference back when he announced his candidacy, where he kept going over how thousands had showed up and how no other candidate had that and how impressed he was. Trump had hired an agency to provide actors for that press conference, to stand out there with signs. I would laugh at the absurdity of this, but this carnival barker became our POTUS. It’s no laughing matter.

My guess is that the liberal media chose a photo of the crowds filing in before the inauguration because that was way fewer than what I saw on TV. His speech was excellent. I am guessing he was right. When I eyed the crowd, I would say it was 1 million or more. The Metro has released numbers of riders and comparison figures to the four previous inaugurations. Fewer people attended Trump’s inauguration by Metro than attended Bush’s SECOND.

On Friday afternoon, he signed an Executive Order that will allow insurers to deny me my employment-based health insurance because of a pre-existing condition and if they don’t deny me, to charge me more than they would a man on the grounds that I’m a woman. One I suggested for you above was the Metro, which released its ridership numbers. thomas.gov is always a good source for information on what Congress and the President has done, given that it is, you know, the Library of Congress and it is statutorily charged with maintaining the congressional record without bias.
On my Facebook page, an acquaintance was going on a rant about how filthy the streets of Boston were this morning after yesterday’s march with garbage strewn all over the Common. I then linked her to the City’s Department of Parks & Recreation that had posted a “thank you” to the organizers and marchers for taking such good care of the national landmark that is Boston Common, complete with pictures of a pristine Common that were taken yesterday afternoon AFTER the march.
Betti, to be fair those items will continue to be covered –there are some state mandates that trump (ha) federal mandates and could continue the same level of coverage for preventive services. However, what could be repealed is getting those covered with no copay. Right now preventive services (per the AMA guidelines) don’t have cost shares. Repealing it would probably put them back in. However, you might be right about pre existing conditions. We’ll go back to the “portability” days pre ACA.

He was disappointed the speech was aggressive and very political instead of gracious, forward looking, optimistic.

My anger is more towards the people that didn’t vote or voted for someone other than the 2 major candidates. My Angie is to the people that didn’t bother to vote. Regardless of the outcome.. the people that didn’t vote should be ashamed of themselves. They are a big part of this mess we are in.

This may be a stupid question but does anyone think Trump was dumb enough he didn’t realise he was supposed to consider whether to accept the resignations of Ambassadors and then work out a leaving date if he decided to appoint his own choices (I don’t know if less political appointees may sometimes be kept on)?
I know in business people often get walked out when they resign. Could he actually be so incompetent he just assumed the same went for Ambassadors?
After all, this is the man who thought Obama’s office staff stayed at the White House and was shocked when told he had to appoint his own.
This man is that incompetent. What troubles me is that his advisors, which include the former Speaker of the House who once shut down the entire federal government, did not advise him to take steps to prevent it.
I saw the following comment on fb by someone named Frank Dehaant on the new yorker’s latest borrowitz report satirizing the Sean spicer debacle. Sent a chill down my spine:
If you are puzzled by the bizarre “press conference” put on by the White House press secretary this evening (angrily claiming that Trump’s inauguration had the largest audience in history, accusing them of faking photos and lying about attendance), let me help explain it. This spectacle served three purposes:
1. Establishing a norm with the press: they will be told things that are obviously wrong and they will have no opportunity to ask questions. That way, they will be grateful if they get anything more at any press conference. This is the PR equivalent of “negging,” the odious pick-up practice of a particular kind of horrible man (e.g., Donald Trump).
2. Increasing the separation between Trump’s base (1/3 of the population) from everybody else (the remaining 2/3). By being told something that is obviously wrong—that there is no evidence for and all evidence against, that anybody with eyes can see is wrong—they are forced to pick whether they are going to believe Trump or their lying eyes. The gamble here—likely to pay off—is that they will believe Trump. This means that they will regard media outlets that report the truth as “fake news” (because otherwise they’d be forced to confront their cognitive dissonance.)
3. Creating a sense of uncertainty about whether facts are knowable, among a certain chunk of the population (which is a taking a page from the Kremlin, for whom this is their preferred disinformation tactic). A third of the population will say “clearly the White House is lying,” a third will say “if Trump says it, it must be true,” and the remaining third will say “gosh, I guess this is unknowable.” The idea isn’t to convince these people of untrue things, it’s to fatigue them, so that they will stay out of the political process entirely, regarding the truth as just too difficult to determine.
This is laying important groundwork for the months ahead. If Trump’s White House is willing to lie about something as obviously, unquestionably fake as this, just imagine what else they’ll lie about. In particular, things that the public cannot possibly verify the truth of. It’s gonna get real bad.
My note: Part of this brainwashing procedure comes with repetition…note Ms. Conway’s use of the term “alternative facts” to cover lies:

Watch the media being sensored and submitted to multiple libels in the future, the underlying threats on all voices questioning his policies being shut down, all measures trying to circonvene democracy.

I know there is a system of check and balance in the US, but, I still don’t understand how he managed to get this far and why he is still there with his massive arrogance and his nastiness after so many barely lawfull moves and other questionable conflict of interrests with his businesse.

I was reading a piece on Jared Kushner, Ivanka and his family on The New Yorker site. His father was a nasty piece of work and as for Jared, the apple don’t fall far from the tree.
Jared was described as always scheming and plotting. Keeping a list of people who he disliked (something like that). The influence he wields on the father in law is astounding.
The Donald has given him the role of senior advisor for Middle East affairs ie. Palestine/Israel. He is said to be pushing for a deal that is pro-Israeli and is a far right wing supporter of Israel. I read he is the one pushing for the embassy (I think) to be moved to Jerusalem which if I’m correct is part of Palestine.
What is terrifying is the fate of the people of Palestine is being left in the hands of Donald Trump’s son in law. The Israeli government is said to be happy about Jared’s new appointment in the Trump adminstration.
Jared is the one to look out for and be wary of. The power he wields right now is really scary. Ivanka and Jared may just be the next Frank & Claire Underwood. Its very chilling.

A sense of gloom and despair had settled over the North as we watched a maniac take charge of our neighbours to the south! Saturday offered hope as millions all over the world marched! So although I am emotionally exhausted, I wanted to share and get feedback from those more knowledgeable. During the extremely late night Internet searching, I came across a clip from a newsman who talked about Drumpf’s grandfather owning a brothel in California! The heading was about Drumpf denying the value of immigrants when he and the journalist both had benefitted from immigrant ancestors coming to USA! I did not catch the journalists name but wondered if anyone else saw this or knew Drumpf’s family background!
As the rotten apple doesn’t not fall far from the tree, it almost makes sense that this want to be Dictator would have such horrible hatred and disdain for Women’s rights. And sexualize them.
