After Lauren Conrad’s announcement that she was leaving The Hills, the start of shooting for the new season sans Lauren, and the craziness that is Heidi and Spencer on Get Me Out of Here… I’m a Celebrity, comes the rumor that Lauren is engaged to her boyfriend of one year, Kyle Howard from My Boys. While she has kept relatively mum about their relationship, not even mentioning him on her show, she gushed about him in a recent issue of Cosmopolitan. She gave the typical “I feel sexiest with him when I’m in sweatpants and no makeup,” line, but interestingly the article also said that she is “in no hurry to tie the knot.”
The engagement occurred, according to Star, in Malibu late last month.
Saying bye-bye to The Hills after three years has brought big changes to Lauren Conrad’s life. At the top of the list: her beau, My Boys’ Kyle Howard, 31, is now ready to take their relationship to the next level. He proposed, and Lauren, 23, accepted! “Kyle’s always been wary of the cameras that constantly followed her around and never wanted to be on the show,” a source close to the pair tells Star. She’s finally free of all that – and Kyle couldn’t wait to pop the question.” He found the perfect moment on the beach in Malibu in late May. “He said that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her,” says the source. “Lauren barely let him get out the words out before she said yes!” Both Kyle and Laruen, who’ve been dating for about a year, wanted to keep their happy news quiet until the hoopla surrounding her exit from the show died down, adds the source. “She doesn’t want her wedding plans to be overshadowed by anything – especially residual drama with her Hills castmates!”

Of course, it’s Star, so there’s always the chance that this is completely made up, but the detail that the engagement occurred last month makes me think it might be legitimate. Lauren keeps saying how quiet and private she wants her life to be, so not announcing her engagement would be keeping true to that wish. One thing is definite, though. If they ever do make it down the aisle, there won’t be any TV special about it. In Cosmo, she was quoted that the only camera that will be at her wedding is her parents’ camcorder.
Update Hollyscoop reports that it’s not true that Conrad is engaged and that her rep has denied this story.

I’ll never forget him from that show on Disney- The Paper Bridgade!! I used to LOVE that movie.
I have always liked Lauren. She seemed way to good for that show and was the only reason I watched some of the episodes. She looks like a genuinely good person. I hope they do well.

I loved him in Orange County. I watched a couple of minutes of My Boys and decided that was enough.
I hope Lauren and her boyfriend are happy together, whether this is true or not.

I like Lauren – one of the reasons I started watching the show is it started out to be about the type of friendships women have, especially in times of crisis – like when you get dumped or duped by a guy and how easily women can be duped. I never tuned in for the “fake” drama so much, but it was interesting to always see how Lauren handled herself. If the news is true – I hope she is very happy.

The Hills season 5 was good I liked it. As for women getting duped, I only think women can dupe other women for the most part. Most dudes are stupid not realizing until it’s too late what’s going on.

Kyle Howard…why are you doing this to me? WHY HAVEN’T YOU FOUND ME YET!?
You would THINK that he would have enough sence to wait for me while being SINGLE…but men will be men.
Other than my obvious rant, I think Lauren actually did good for herself. Got herself a good man as opposed to her other horrible choices -cough-Brody|Jason|Stephen-cough- and had enough sense to leave the Hills.

How could you have liked her BEFORE? What did she do? Wait on tables?
and how is she too good for the one show that made her a millionaire?
Can she act? Sing? is she educated? had another profession I don’t know of?

For those who don’t understand what it means that “she was way too good for the show” SLOW NED who probably never watched the show.
It means that she always tried to be a bigger person. She tried as much as she could (being on a reality show) to stay away from drama, that is until the rumor about her sex tape came out. Otherwise, she would approach her friends if she thought she did something wrong and talk things out with them. E.g. when she felt she and Audrina were drifting apart, she went into Audrina’s portion of the house and asked Audrina what she could do to fix their relationship. Instead of letting the situation between her and Audrina get out of hand, she handled it immediately and maturely.
Another e.g. When her friend Stephanie went out with a guy Doug that she had dated, she was upset. However when Brody began attacking Steph for dating Lauren’s guy and Steph started crying, Lauren tried consoling her putting aside the fact that Steph had betrayed her by dating Doug.
3rd e.g. When Audrina accused Lauren of dating her on and off boy toy Justin Bobby, Lauren was able to get over it. Audrina called her all sorts of names ( some edited) but Lauren took the higher ground since she knew Audrina was not always rational when it came to Justin Bobby.
Note: later on in the show, Audrina expressed interest in Brody, a guy that Lauren had dated in the past but we heard no mention of it from Lauren.
Lastly, it is not to say Lauren did not have a few immature moments sort of like not talking to Heidi for soooooo long b/c of Spencer, but as the show progressed, she became very mature while many of her cast mates remained the same over a period of years. So that’s what the comment “she was too good for the show” meant b/c she often handled herself almost too “maturely.”
And NED, please read carefully before commenting, Ash girl said she always liked Lauren meaning she always liked her on the show. Nowhere did Ash girl say she liked Lauren BEFORE the show.

Ugh…I HATE Lauren!! She is probably the most annoying person on the HIlls (tied with Heidi)..I don’t know how you all can like her. She is totally trying to get attention 24-7 for doing absolutely nothing..

‘Most dudes are stupid realizing’ I think is because they are so tied up in the very dupe that they create for women. As in, they are so convinced by their own lies or games, (at the start or defensively) that they dont even realize that theyre doing it, or, they get in over their head (because women are involved, which are way more dramatic/complicated than they)

I just LOVE that Lauren ended up Really dating someone she watched faithfully on “The OC” with friends as a kid and thought he was so good looking, all long before she ever even had a glimmer of staring in “Laguna Beach The Real OC” and “The Hills” or becoming the greatly admired super Class Act girl and reality celebrity she is. I mean we have all watched TV and thought. How great it would be to date some TV or Movie Star we like! This is all a Cinderella Story for her. Minus the wicked Step-mother! I’m thrilled for her! She deserves it all! She is “Really” One of the “Good Girls” in Hollywood!
