Lea Michele married Zandy Reich in Napa, and her wedding gown was pretty great?

Lea Michele got married to her guy, Zandy Reich, this weekend. First off: are you surprised that Lea didnā€™t make her wedding into a gigantic extravaganza with multiple leaks and social media posts? Iā€™m surprised, because she kept it super-low-key. When her people confirmed the wedding took place, they released one photo of Lea in her wedding gown, at the wedding, and People Magazine got the exclusive pic. Thatā€™s the second thing – doesnā€™t this wedding photo look so much like the photo Gwyneth Paltrow released from her wedding to Brad Falchuk? Is this the new ā€œthingā€ in wedding portraits? Walking down the aisle with the groom, with the bride open-mouth scream-posing at the guests? Itā€™s weird!

As for Leaā€™s gown, Iā€™m surprised by how much I like it. It suits her figure, itā€™s Disney-princessy and yet there are some interesting design elements too. Apparently, it was the first and only dress she tried on, which also seems out of character for Lea, right?? Damn. The ceremony went down in Napa, and Ryan Murphy (creator of Glee) officiated the service. Zandy and Lea released an exclusive statement to People Magazine: ā€œWe are so excited to be married and grateful to be surrounded by our friends and family. And most of all, weā€™re so happy to spend the rest of our lives together.ā€

Zandy is 36 years old and president of AYR clothing company. Lea is 32. Just FYI. Apparently many of Leaā€™s friends made the trip to Napa for the wedding, including Emma roberts, Darren Criss, Becca Tobin and Jonathan Groff.

I donā€™t know about the ā€œopen mouth screamingā€ (they seem like theyā€™re smiling/laughing to me?) but even with us plebes, usually the first portrait couples post is either the kiss at the altar or the jubilant walk down the aisle after they say ā€œI doā€. Iā€™ve seen lots of cute ones with like grooms with their fist in the air or high fiving guests, and with joyful brides. It seems like a really great moment to capture for photographers filled with genuine emotion.

Anyway congrats to them! They look happy!

    • Alexandria says:

Yeah I find this a typical pose for couples but still beautiful. I just did not like the others being in
the background. Congratulations! She looks great. Not my choice of gown but she is pulling it off.

And please don’t let Gwyneth think she started this “Walking down the aisle with the groom, with the bride open-mouth scream-posing at the guests”.

For myself and my friends a lot of us posted a photo of the entire wedding party, or post wedding couple photos. I posted one of us at the alter and walking out, but it definitely wasn’t the first photo I looked to post, because quite honestly I didn’t really care about the ceremony.

      • runcmc says:

I think people are moving away from posting the posed portraits/group pics- at least thatā€™s what Iā€™m seeing in weddings over the last couple of years. So Iā€™ve seen stuff like this- semi candid but in a controlled sense? If that makes sense. For the last few years I flat out havenā€™t seen any posed portraits even in weddings I was in the bridal party… the couples usually make a physical album and donā€™t put them online. But maybe my age makes a difference -Iā€™m in my mid-30s and Iā€™m talking about weddings of people in their early to mid 30s.

      • Erinn says:

Maybe? I mean, I’ve only been married for 4 years – so it’s not like I’m super out of date, here. It’s probably more of a specific social circles/locations thing. We’re in a smaller town, but most of us booked the same photographer who we grew up with and who now works in the city doing some REALLY impressive weddings. But I was also only 24 when I got married, too, so maybe the age thing is playing a bigger role.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

One of our fave wedding photos is us walking back down the aisle, us looking absolutely delighted, but we didn’t pose…the photographer just captures a naturally happy moment & it looks like what happened, above.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Yes, my thoughts exactly. After the vows have been said, usually people are super jubilant and happy and people are cheering. I think it is the perfect moment to take a picture, because it captures such joy. Nothing wrong with it, IMO, and I don’t think an open mouthed smile looks like shouting.

Eh, looks like a giant folded napkin to me.

    • lisa says:

      agreed.

    • Jane says:

Totally agree. I think it pretty unattractive. However, it is a far cry better than a dress I saw her in a few months ago where she was almost flaunting her breasts in front of everyone–being totally EXTRA. Ugh!

  3. Monicack says:

She looks beautiful and happy and I love the softer, unsculpted hair. Their body language is excellent. Not crazy about his prom tux though. But congrats to the couple and many happy years together.

  4. ItReallyIsYou,NotMe says:

I thought she would go for a slinky dress, but this is beautiful and she clearly feels beautiful in it. I have always been partial to Lea from her Glee days. The fact that so many of her castmates have remained her good friends says a lot about her, imo.

    • NightOwl says:

Such a good point about remaining friends with her castmates. It does speak volumes.

    • LivePlantsCleanAir says:

Oh, @ItReallyIsYou,NotMe ~ thank you. I have also always been partial to Lea. She has a phenomenal singing voice. I often wondered how much of Rachel was Lea and how much of Lea was Rachel. But mostly, I thought Lea was given a hard time. I really liked Naya Riviera, also, but when she started diddling around cause she wanted to be more of a star, well, I thought her silly to not count her blessings. Rachael (Lea) was always going to be the main story line…that’s how the series was written. There always has to be one leading protagonist, and Naya (IMHO) was unprofessional in demanding more air-time. I think she shot herself in the foot. Lea’s first album was pretty good, I didn’t like her second one as much. I hope she finds balance, and a happy life and another great role, like Rachel, that she can really sink her teeth into and blow us all away, again.

I like her dress! Different but very pretty.

  6. Doodle says:

Iā€™ve been married for 12 years and I wasnā€™t excited about any of my posted pictures either. The only one Iā€™m a fan of is the one where my groomsman is making goofy eyes at one of the bridesmaids. I have always preferred the more real pictures showing the actual emotions of the day. I think pictures like these are more the standard. And goopy has nothing to do with it, donā€™t let jade head get any credit for that.

  7. Moxie Remon says:

    His last name is unfortunate.

    • Abby says:

I know, especially since her father is Jewish.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

It’s possible he’s Jewish himself, but if he isn’t, Reich meant “Realm” throughout German history, so the Hitler developed the Third Reich, but that’s only the most notorious use of a common term. It wasn’t unique to the Nazis. A lot of German Jews had German last names. Reich outside of political terms can also mean ‘rich,’ yes?

(Signed, Jewish person with German last name, though sometimes there are variations in these names that kind of signal the Jewish form of the German name)

      • Abby says:

        True!

      • Kitten says:

And it’s not always pronounced with a hard “CH” sound right? Like, Robert Reich pronounces his last name like “R-EYE-SH” not “R-EYE-K”.

      • Birdie says:

In german it is always pronounced the same way, the ch sound is a little difficult for non-german speaking people, so english speakers tend to ignore the h and just settle with a k sound in the end.

    • Birdie says:

@ Moxie, it is not at all unfortunate. I am german and Reich means Empire and is also an adjective and means rich.
Third Reich is from Nazi Germany history yes, but the word is commonly used in the german language.

  8. Junebug says:

I’m trying to give up being bitchy for Lent but sorry, he looks like he’s popped a few Ambien. Oops. Maybe I should give up chocolate instead.

Her dress suits her but it really isn’t my taste…

  9. Abby says:

I love her dress, they seem happy. I think our first official wedding photographer photo that we shared was us walking down the aisle grinning at our guests.

I somehow thought there were more wedding events to go. I feel like their engagement has had a ton of pre-events. So keeping the actual wedding low-key media wise surprised me.

  10. Lucy says:

Congrats! She looked lovely. May their marriage be a long and happy one.

  11. vava says:

Not a fan of the pointed bodice part, or the veil (or her hairstyle). I do like the concept of the skirt of the dress, though.

  12. Ader says:

They seem so perfect for each other, and they look a LOT alike.

  13. Lala11_7 says:

She reminds me of Taylor with the fame whore stuff…you get older…traumatic events happen…and if you’re very lucky….you grow out of it…

They look happy…and the dress is GORGE!!!!!

  14. Nichole says:

I get the impression that while alea is super EXTRA and over the top with her career, she’s pretty low-key in her personal life. She seems to separate the two well. I have a soft spot for her. Also love that dress! She is beautiful.

  15. Elizabeth MacLeod says:

Congrats to the happy couple! (but am I the only one who thins Zandy looks a bit like Billy Magnussen?)

  16. Lisa says:

    I really like the dress.

  17. Shelley says:

I find her annoying. But omg. That voice. She sings like an angel.

  18. Nicegirl says:

How fun. I love California wine šŸ· country šŸ’’ weddings.

  19. Tiffany says:

I really like her dress. She looks so happy and I am happy for her.

  20. Originaluna says:

You said it all. I have always liked Lea and I think people confused (and still do) her real self with Rachel’s, and just think she’s this horrible Diva. However she’s always been very discreet with her personal life (even if she posts some thirsty pics and does the JLo open mouth thing on red carpet). I think that how she just kept herself super low key when Cory died, and how she never ever trashed him or milked it for press, even her interviews were quite thoughtful and never oversharing.
I think people are too hard on her. I mean, her previous shady boyfriend story would have made any other thirsty celeb write some tell-all book right after it happened and she never did that. Maybe one day she will, but for the way people talk about how desperate and famewh*reish she supposedly is, this behaviour should prove them wrong.
And her voice.. man her voice is just outstanding. Naya never stood a chance – and I liked her too.
I hope she gets a great role on tv, film, wherever we can listen to her magnificent voice again.
    Yes I like her lol.
